Hey everyone -
I'm posting this here since it's related to our S5's now that Lollipop is out. I'm hoping that some of you may have recent Honda cars from the past few years with the HondaLink system, since this should pertain to quite a few models. I originally posted this on 9thgencivic.com about my 2015 Civic EX.

OK, this might be a long post. I'll start with tl;dr. Despite promises and initial attempts to incorporate MirrorLink 1.1 and enable mirroring between Android phones and our head units, it looks like Honda has failed. It's not just that they aren't implementing, but I believe they tried and just didn't have the engineering prowess to figure it out.
Here are some videos of me showing how I have come to this assumption:
Part 1

Part 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LcRlHkg0ik
And an image showing that my phone supports MirrorLink 1.1

}
So here's the full story. As I stated in an earlier post, I was in touch with someone from Honda corporate who told me that despite all of the previous promises, Honda will NOT be adding support to enable Android integration into our cars. It's also been widely known (assumed?) that our cars have MirrorLink 1.1 support; this is visible inside the diagnostic menus and multiple people have been told this by Honda.
Earlier this week, Verizon pushed out an update to Samsung S5 phones, upgrading the operating system to Lollipop/Android 5.0. I was going through the phone's menus, and noticed that there is a new MirrorLink option in Settings. I also saw elsewhere on the phone (photo above) that it's MirrorLink 1.1. Needless to say, I was VERY excited about what this may mean for us!
I went home, pulled out a USB cable, and tried my hardest to get my phone and car to see each other. Through regular options, I couldn't do anything new. However, when I went into Honda's diagnostic menus (hold Power + Menu + Eject on the car stereo) and then into the Unit Function menu and then down to the MirrorLink menu, I started to see some information.
The MirrorLink menu was reporting that it was seeing my phone! It had basic information about the time/date that it was plugged in and my phone's model. Clicking on the bottom buttons inside that menu, I could see MORE info. Specifically, I could see that the car and phone were trying to connect, but the car was reporting "Parameter Information Error" and some other errors statuses. You can see this in the first video above.
While in that submenu, I unplugged and replugged the USB cord in the bottom of my phone a few times. This is where things get even more exciting! My phone actually entered MirrorLink mode!! Unfortunately, the car was still spitting back error messages. Instead of just showing a "Disconnected" state, though, I started seeing various states such as "Connecting" "Speech Recognition Impossible" and "No Music Application". Additionally, on the car's main menu, the big "Link" icon now reads a new error: "Unable to start the app. When safe, please check your mobile device." You can see this in the second video above. Unfortunately, that's as far as I can get. I couldn't get anything to mirror.
So here's my assumption. Honda's engineers tried to implement MirrorLink and simply failed. We have what are essentially the remnants of their attempt throughout the menus. They won't be upgrading our system because they just simply don't have the software engineers capable. And now I'm just hoping that this is the only engineering fail that they have in our cars...
Hopefully someone else can find out some more info based on this. I still think we are very close to getting this working.
On My Auris TS HSD I have the same information on my phone... and my Touch&Go 2 just seems to ignore it at all
I'm not sure which version of mirrorlink is the touch &go2 has if it is 1.0 or 1.1

Based on the comments on this blog post, it looks like you are probably on MirrorLink 1.0.
which means I'm probably screwed.... S5 doesn't seems to support it
Hello btonetbone,
In Lollipop, how can you display the screen entitled "Use details" that you have uploaded in your first post ?

I went to Settings -> Battery and clicked on Android System. If you scroll down in there, you'll see all of the packages within the Android System using battery.

You may or may not know (I didn't) that a decent experience using Bluetooth Audio, requires both the broadcasting device and receiver support at least version 1.3 of AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile).
My Joying 5.1.1 unit shipped with a build cut mid-March, I believe it included version 1.1. This left me with Play/Pause/Skip control but no meta data passed from my phone to the Bluetooth app on the Joying.
Today I loaded an update from May 4th and was pleasantly surprised to find they bumped the profile up to at least 1.3.
For what its worth I've written them asking what profile they supported and have gotten nothing but useless nonsensical replies.

Indeed I do.
Good news, is the quality any better than it was previously?
Dave
Hi w0rdie where did you get the 4th may update?
There is only 30th april on Joying site.
Thanks
Mal posted it, not sure where he got it.

I tried to install the update, for some reason it's not working on my head unit, and it is the new 5.1.1 head unit.
I also lost sound the second day I had the unit. I think it was a software issue with some of the apps I downloaded. I set it back to factory settings and deleted all data, now when I hit the NAV button it takes me to google maps and not iGO or any other Navigation that I install. Tried changing default geo app, all that shows up is Maps. Can get answer from Joying on how to fix this...
Adding this because I had never heard of AVRCP, got this from wiki
AVRCP has several versions with significantly increasing functionality:
1.0 — Basic remote control commands (play/pause/stop, etc.)
1.3 — all of 1.0 plus metadata and media-player state support
The status of the music source (playing, stopped, etc.)
Metadata information on the track itself (artist, track name, etc.).
1.4 — all of 1.0 and 1.3 plus media browsing capabilities for multiple media players
Browsing and manipulation of multiple players
Browsing of media metadata per media player, including a "Now Playing" list
Basic search capabilities
Support for Absolute volume
1.5 — all of 1.0, 1.3 and 1.4 plus specification corrections and clarifications to absolute volume control, browsing and other features
1.6 - all of 1.0, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 plus browsing data and track information[5]
Number of items that are in a folder without downloading the list
Support for transmitting cover arts through the BIP over OBEX protocol

My update path was the April build from joying's site, which I believe updated my MCU -- followed by the 54 build. I'd try that.
HI,
I have purchased an unbranded unit from Amazon by KC Navigation - B07XLGNNLM
However a few problems which i would appreciate some pointers with;
1. I cant seem to find is how to find an MCU update for this version? STM32-20190622-11-KC1-26
2. The internal Microphone is un-usable, So Im hoping an update can fix? I have disconnected it temporarily and using an external mic, but this is not great either, however is improved.
3. Cannot get the unit to sleep and instant boot even when selecting "auto sleep for 48 hours" in the hidden settings menu.
4. There is a 5 second delay on the reverse image when unit is booted, if cold start it is instant when android is still loading.
5. There is a "work password" set when inside the hidden menu when i select "settings item hide" which I cannot work out the password for, I have tried all the usual ones listed on here, it is numbers only as far as im aware.

What did the reseller suggest to resolve the issues?
They have ignored all issues other than the microphone. I have sent them recordings using the sound recorder app as they asked but they claim they cannot open the files.
Wired in a Lapel Microphone from RS and all seems a lot better.
Can anyone help with getting the workpassword and the standby booting?
Seller has responded to say there is no password set. So either untrue or there is a generic one? Still can’t get an answer as to how to go into standby rather than cold boot every time I switch on ignition. I do a lot of short journeys so quite frustrating.
Still no help from seller.. any suggestions?
Bump
I have a similar head unit to yours. On mine I can go Settings -> General -> Shutdown delay when ACC off, and can set sleep time from 0 to 2 hours. This works.
I can do this also but it still cold boots

Odd. The B+ and ACC connections aren't transposed are they?
In what section of the secret menu did you find that 48hr setting?
I also wish someone knew the 'work password'. I've tried 22 different ones from this and other forums and none work.
Settings>system>about devices>
Then press kernel and OS version one after the other 3 times and hidden menu comes up.
Module>support standby.
Then back into the menu where you select Acc delay

I did reply the other day but it has not been posted.
If you go into''about device' in settings. the alternately click on 'Kernel Version' and 'OS version' a hidden menu appears.
then go back to ACC time and select 48 hours.
Mine is wired correctly but just doesnt seem to support it

Thanks.. My unit is a bit different from yours and the secret menu does not have a 'Support standby" item so can't get to "Acc delay".
p.s. Found the 'work password" on my unit is 666666 but you can't do much with what it brings up.

I purchased this unit and I trying to find out if there are firmware upgrades available.
I have found my way into http://file.xygala.com/ but only see versions for YT5760B & YT5760L.
My main reason for wanting to do this atm is I believe my unit isn't reading the CANBUS correctly. Worst problem being the screen wont go into night mode when I turn the lights on. I'm thinking I may need a new CANBUS decoder but notice that the factory protocol settings don't indicate any programming built in to support my vehicle (Ford Ranger).
I am assuming that the list of supported vehicles comes from the software. So I'm concerned that even if I buy the right decoder I may not be able to select the right vehicle for it.
I have found this decoder https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000960867138.html by RAISE. They are at least in the CANBUS BOX: list but no mention of the Ranger when I drill down to Ford. Then there is this on https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001694518088.html but the brand BOISON doesn't even feature in the CANBUS BOX: list.
I would also be very interested in building Android from source but wouldn't know how to select the right packages for this hardware.
Any help you can give me finding hardware upgrades, or information on how to select the right packages to build Android to support this hardware, would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Nick
Any luck with this Nick? I've also got problems with Canbus for my 2019 Ford Ranger. The only issue for me is the steering wheel controls don't work!
Hello there!
I understand that you're looking for firmware upgrades for your unit and you've been having trouble finding them. The fact that you're experiencing issues with the CANBUS not reading correctly, including the screen not going into night mode when you turn the lights on, is also a concern.
It's true that the list of supported vehicles comes from the software, and it's possible that even if you buy the right decoder, you may not be able to select the right vehicle for it. However, I do have some good news for you! As someone who has experience working with the CANBUS, I can tell you that a Raspberry Pi can connect to the CANBUS and provide a wealth of diagnostic information.
In fact, I came across an article that explains how to connect a Raspberry Pi to the CANBUS: https://www.autopi.io/blog/raspberry-pi-can-bus-explained/. This could be a great alternative to trying to find hardware upgrades for your current unit.
Regarding building Android from source, that can be a bit tricky, especially if you're not familiar with the process. It's important to ensure that you select the right packages to support your hardware. I would recommend doing some research and reaching out to online communities that specialize in this area for guidance.
In the meantime, it may be worth exploring the possibility of connecting a Raspberry Pi to your car's CANBUS. This could provide you with the diagnostic information you need and help you troubleshoot any issues you're experiencing. I hope this helps!
I too have a similar problem. I have a "Raise" CAN bus decoder module, part G-RZ-VW58 but the firmware on it is v9.0.6 and the options are "PQ Dasauto all", "MQB" and 360 degree camera options -- all too new for my 2015 Passat TDI.
I can get basic CAN information, and the MQB protocol variants give me more options (but none work, which makes sense). I found a similar module on AliExpress which specifically targets my vehicle (B7 Passat) so I'm sure I'm just a firmware change away from having something work better. Were you able to find any more information on how to do this?
XYAuto now have a firmware file for YT560A.
I'm downloading it atm. Will investigate and report back.
Download and looked at the meta files. Says it's for ac8257_demo_1g_32, I have ac8259.
I'll try an update tomorrow and see what it does. Looks like it's coded to abort because wrong chip.
I bricked my unit.
I can't remember exactly what firmware did it, a lot of stuff has happened since first attempt to update firmware.
What I can give you is a very basic overview of how I fixed it.
=======================================
Flash Computer package gongban_YT5760L_ui1-1024x768_zlink-v1.68.zip - make sure to select correct size preloader file. eg, 1,2,4
Put 2 files on FAT32 USB stick and
XYAUTO_UPDATE.bin
upgrade ota gongban_YT57xx_1280x800-v1.73.7_a31d36be_ota.tar.gz
Insert USB into stereo. Wait while it reboots twice then remove USB when screen is readable.
Navigate to Settings > Factory settings > Touch settings > Key position. Select "no key"
Touch now matches screen
Navigate to Settings > Other settings > ScreenRotation. Enable. Password 8888
Screen up right way
Write IMEI with Maui META
Find an apk download of google services. I used ver 23.17.15 just because it's what I found and it worked. Without this Android can't update itself.

hey everybody my dad just bought a new seicane
Double din H2 10.0 android
With the DSP add on
It’s in a 2012 Toyota sienna
We had a second there originally and we moved to an Alpine
But he’s giving me the Alpine to throw in another car so he got this new one
Problem is the sub else does not have any sound
Things don’t seem to be working correctly
I’ve seen this as a common issue
But is there any actual fix?
Also is it possible to use an external dac?
I have an audio technica and Berhinger card
Using a separate app to push audio through USB output it works but I want to get android system sound to go through
That way radio Bluetooth and all other sounds are pushed out
Hi, most probably , must change radio chip settings in infotainment hidden /admin menu, there is an option IC type of radio, must change to other chip settings.Try with that first

I’m like really struggling lol
What is in factory settings ? Can you make photo of that menu (if it asks pin code try 8888 or what number it is)
And add photo of the menu RADIO in pic nb. 3 please.
"rk3368_user debug" - this is the designation of software update you might look for.
It is most probably on Russian PDA forum. Find & download right software and update device. It might fix the problem. That is one solution.
I'll study more when you get this pic of that radio menu.
P.S. What version of android is it and is it PX5 or PX6 chip?
Look for answers here also - this is for CAN bus and audio control related to alpine: https://www.wranglerforum.com/threa...-premium-sound-in-january-2020.2391881/page-2
Still struggling
For a 2012 Toyota Sienna
Here ya go
Ask your seller for update of system image. If problem is with software not hardware seller must have tyxxxx factory settings update files.
Screen upgrade from IPS to 2K
After the purchase of the following Android Car Radio, I admit that I would have liked to have a QLED screen, which if I didn't know what it was, which had been recommended to me by many industry experts.
With the arrival of the radio I realized that I had missed the target but, despite everything, the device was not bad at all, on the contrary it fully met my expectations. However, as the days went by, the curiosity and the desire to know if it was possible, somehow, to modify/update the screen hovered in my head.
Visiting the well-known Aliexpress online shop almost assiduously, I found the one that would have solved my "wrong" problem; From the seller and friend DoFun Store, where you can find 9/10 inch Topway 2K Android Headunit Screens (at the time of writing there is only 1 left), I found the solution.
Let's get the dance started:
You need the display configuration file before replacing it, it needs to be unzipped in the USB root directory to do the same thing as a local system update: Settings->System->System Update->Local System Update. (this file must be requested by contacting the seller who will give the necessary information on how to find it).
It will reboot once, at this time the screen will show error or no display (see example picture), don't worry and turn it off, then you can start to replace it with the new 2K.
Example image:

Another major and easy mistake, when connecting the touch screen data cable…
...the contact side is facing the face, not down, this should be noted, otherwise you will lose the touch function, The black side is against the motherboard and the other gold side is towards itself.
What the old screen links look like:
Some stages of the work on the new screen:
Given that the work must be done by disassembling the Android car radio from the dashboard, the operations are greatly simplified if you can do everything over the counter as you can see from the images and following videos ... video that will explain the various steps in the best possible way:
Video TS10_Upgrade_a_2K_Screen - mp4
In this other video the potential of this new screen, visible and clear even from extreme angles:
Topway TS10 schermo 2K 2000 X 1200
"Touch" commands gone
One thing that could disorientate, after having replaced the screen of our Topway TS10 unit, is to discover that it does not have the "touch" keys/commands ( PHOWER, HOME, BACK, VOL +, VOL - ).
Find the differences:
Although the evidence, at first glance, confirms this lack, we can see that it is not exactly the case.
After gaining some familiarity with the new screen, we begin navigating through the various settings which have not changed, given that the firmware and operating system have remained the same, and in this case moving to the menu >GENERAL >DISPLAY BUTTONS we find given to a new series of settings that will give us the possibility to select where we want to place our bar for the "touch" commands which, specifically, will include: PHOWER, VOL +, VOL - as well as the command/arrow to hide it in the in case you don't want to see it.
Explanatory video:
Bravo @timido64, for installing 2k display screen yourself. This is a good upgrade for those using same 10inch size screen with a high resolution. Yours TS10 unit is capable of supporting this display.
Hi and thank you for this post.
I broke my display so I would love to replace it by the same model as you on my TS10, but I can't find a way to get the product delivered in France from aliexpress, do you know how I can do that ?
Hi @Guich62,
I bought on Aliexpress from DoFun, I don't know of any other system, sorry.
Try to contact @aRaychan privately (that's his nickname here on XDA...) he can surely help you because he is the seller.
