Hi guys,
I was wondering if someone could help me with my s4 (i9505)
Yesterday I was playing a bit on my way to work when the phone suddenly turned off, and I haven't been able to turn it back on since then.
I was running Echoe ROM (S5 port) ver.XIII, and I had TWRP recovery on at the time. Now the phone won't boot up at all, not even in recovery/download/safe modes.
The only thing I can say is that the phone was rather hot when it went down.
The same thing happened a few months ago, but the phone booted up as soon as it cooled down. Not this time though.
I pulled my SD and SIM cards out they are both fine.
Today I took it to a service station, dude gave it back to me after 1 minute, said that it was some kind of motherboard malfunction,
and that I should give it to Samsung.
The S4 is 2 years old, never had any problems with it, I just want to know if it's worth it to repair, or if this is really goodbye. :crying::crying::crying:
Depends on if you want to get a new phone or are fine with your s4.
You could sell it as defective or you could repair it and sell it afterwards. People still buy the device. I, instance, am looking for one right now.

After I installed Faria 3.3 rom last week I started getting random shutdowns on my 8125. Today I plugged it in to my computer, walked away, came back and my phone was shut down. For good. I had it clocked between 192mhz and 240 mhz, but it was 192mhz when it died on me.
I bought the phone February 17, 2006, so my warranty is now over Do you guys think Cingular will help me out if I call their handset support tomorrow? But even then, this thing is unlocked and flashed a with a hacked ROM...am I in a bit of a predicament here? I can't really afford to buy a new phone (of this stature) right now.
Trying my best to keep my composure....but this ****ing sucks!!!!
Give us some more info so that we can help you: Please confirm if you have tried the following:
1) Has the battery got any charge in it - sounds a bit lame but just confirm it please.
2) Have you tried to force it into bootloader mode [4 coloured bars on screen] (Hold in camera button - push reset -release reset but continue to hold camera button)
Thank you for your help, the battery is charged 100%. My father has the same phone and I was able to boot it up fine with my battery.
I tried doing this boot you described and nothing happens.
Me too...
the same thing happened on my mda it turned on after that its completely dead. i think mine is bricked too, cant seem to turn it on
Doesn't look good I'm afraid. I did a quick search on the forum and not a lot came up. Maybe it is worth a try with Cingular if it is big time broke I doubt if they will be able to detect that it was a cooked ROM that was on it.
I did have it running at 276mhz for a couple of days last week, but I saw nothing wrong with it. I just wanted to save my battery life so I went back to 192mhz and then 2 days ago it started doing this. The first time it happened, I just switched the batteries and turned it on and it worked. Now this time, it won't turn on at all.
I'm gonna try calling them tomorrow, I just hope they even honor it considering it's been over a year. This is the second 8125 I've gone through though, last August I had a problem with my screen and Cingular sent me another me this one.
Not Under Warranty
I really don't think you're going to have any luck with Cingular. First of all, if it's been over a year since the initial purchase, you're already out of warranty. Your replacement phone that you got in August doesn't carry a full one year warranty -- it's only warranteed until the 1 year anniversary date of the ORIGINAL phone purchased.
Secondly, even if it was within the warranty period, there are ways they can tell that it was NOT running an Official ROM. Oh, Cingular won't be able to tell when you turn it in, but they ship them to HTC for reconditioning, and HTC can tell.
It's because of people turning in their bricked phones under a warranty -- and the resulting financial losses from exchaning them -- that caused the carriers and manufacturers to turn up the heat to make Microsoft finally issue their edict of "cease and desist." Now, the ROMs are gone from the ftp and we have to "go underground" to tinker and hope that the file we download isn't corrupted or full of viruses.
What the carriers SHOULD have done, instead, was return those phones to their owners with a bill for the replacement cost. Maybe then people would have thought twice about making their phone carriers' responsible for damage the user had done to their phones.
Do you think there'd be any thing at all they could do for me? Maybe get me a refurbished one at a discounted rate since I've been a longtime customer? I pretty much just threw away $300 for 1 year of use...this is disgusting...
I just wish I had the resources and friends on the inside that other people do. Hell, my uncle is getting 3G on his 8525 through the MediaNet plan instead of Data Connect because of a friend he has over there.
Dunno if this is a common occurrence, I havent seen anyone mention anything similar to this not that its an amazingly unique and spectacular problem, but I just didnt think I would be experiencing this while only having the phone for less than 5 days. First of all, I believe this phone was a return from the store that I bought it from, but I couldnt tell until today when I figured out what was actually supposed to come in the box. Besides that, all of a sudden today it died on me and I didnt think it was the battery since it had 40% left the last time I saw it. Shrugged it off until I plugged it in, at which point it didnt turn on so I decided to pop out the battery and stick it back in and I had a bit of a sigh of relief.
Its been a while since Ive actually had a phone worth caring for, is this something I should return it for and get a new one while I still can? Even if its not a huge problem now, does it have the potential to get worse and worse? *sigh* out of all of the phones Ive had, Ive liked this the most since it was problem free.
I've never had to do this.. But hard freezes are possible.
But if it happens a lot, it might be a doa.. Either way, in most countries you have 10 working days at least for DOA, which allows you to return and get your money back or new unit. Given the complaints about GPS though, it is possible they have tried to resell some returned units as "brand new"
Whats a hard freeze? Its only happened once, but then I dont know when the next time it may happen. My phone has a way of turning off in my pocket multiple times a day due to the case that I use for it, which Im probably going to stop using once I find a suitable pouch. I dont know, maybe that had an effect on it for some ridiculous reason? It mighta turned off and just not turned back on?
Actually..... Come to notice it right now, I cant even turn the phone off without going through the unlock pattern. So, does that mean my phones been intermittently shutting down on its own or something? Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu**********************
My phone did this a few times. I had to re-install battery to get it going again. It happened on the 1st, 2nd, and 5th day,...but hasn't happened for about 1 week now. 2 reasons it may have stopped:
1) I got a new battery. My friend was going to return his SGS because of multiple problems, and swapped me batteries before returning it.
2) Did the firmware update (Bell Mobility - canada)
If i were you, i would exchange it for a new one. You don't want to sleep in on an important appointment because your phone turned itself off in the middle of the night! You are paying big bucks for this phone, and deserve a phone that works great.
Hey guys I bought a note 3 just two days ago for my girlfriend. This phone is not rooted, everything is stock. I was going through the phone and noticed there was a software update 1200mb in size, I imagine a new Rom or something I dunno. Anyway I did the update later went to check the phone which is now paper weight 100% unresponsive, called AT&T it's not under warranty so not their problem. The phone will not go into recovery it's literally dead all around. Reading I'm sure you can tell I am completely inexperienced so can anyone with a great amount of patience possibly help me fix this and I will donate 50$ or pay w/e. Any help is appreciated, Thank You!
I bought a good condition Note 4 from craigslist. It was working great for a while, however I started to notice that it would not keep an LTE signal. It would pretty much default to 3G most of the time and I would have to toggle airplane mode off and on to get it back to LTE. I sent the phone into Samsung for repair. I found that they denied the repair due to an "unauthorized modification". It was a Verizon Note 4 and they claimed that someone had replaced the USB port with one from a Sprint version. I don't know what someone would do that or if they are just full of it, but I didn't argue it because I bought it from craigslist. The worst part is that I received the phone back today and the screen does not turn on. The phone powers on and the capacitive buttons light up, however nothing appears on the screen. I called Customer Service immediately and I was transferred around. I spoke to someone in the escalations dept who said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours with a resolution. This is unbelievable. They broke the phone and won't take responsibility for it. A couple of hours after my initial call, I received call back from someone else asking how I packaged the phone when I shipped it. I told him that I wrapped it in bubble wrap and placed it in a box. He then asked me if I had proof of that. I got mad and started yelling at him before just hanging up. Can they possibly not take responsibility for it? The phone had an issue but it was usable, now its not and I'm afraid they will not fix or replace it. Does anyone have a similar experience or know what else can be done? Thanks.
You sent then a halfway working phone they sent you back a device that they probably tried to re-flash the stock firmware ro and with them thinking the carrier was different from the reality, they probably flashed the wrong one causing your device not to boot they figured out that's the problem and are saying well u already voided the warranty not our fault. If u have it escalated they should help you since they messed your phone up worse than when u sent it to them. Motorola gave me a Moto X developer edition once for a very similar occurrence, but samsung is a whole different animal.
Hello everyone, I have been an android user for around 5 consistent years now and I got an LG g4 when it first came out, well after about a year of use it broke so I was without a phone for months, so I waited for the galaxy s8, I pre-order it, and I should have learned my lesson about buying phones right when they come out, I did that with my LG g4 and it had that hardware bug. Anyways I have had the phone for awhile now and it has started to freeze, the screen shuts off and won't respond for a few minutes, it will freeze for 2 seconds then shut down and reboot, the battery life is about 2 hours at 100% charge, it gets burning hot while charging and sometimes while I use it and about 2 weeks ago, I had picked up my phone off my desk and looked at the back of it and it was cracked, I know I didn't drop it either because if I do I will look at it for a good 20 minutes and the room I was in has very soft carpet so it won't break, then last Saturday I went on vacation and my I woke up that morning and grabbed my phone, and what yah know it was broken on the front and worse on the back, and I know 100 that I didn't drop it then either, because it was on the charger, so I called Samsung today, a few times actually, the people could barely speak English, were very rude and were giving me wrong information, and the problem is they want $205 to fix the screen, well why would I pay for something #1 I didn't break #2 it's defective, so why would I pay to have the screen fixed on a defective piece of hardware? So right now I am at a loss and I'm very upset, So basically I turn to my favourite form in my hour of need to ask what I should do, and I can't return it either because I'm making payments on it over sprint, also I may be uninformed of the situation because I have never had this issue, so any help you can give me is extremely appreciated
Device information: Samsung Galaxy s8 sm-g950u Arctic silver.
any questions and any answers or help or anything would be extremely appreciated
Not sure if this will help or not, but it sounds like your battery is bad and expanding inside of your phone.
Good luck bro, getting a free replacement for a cracked screen is almost impossible... I kno, I dropped 2 lg g2's in a 2weeks time span of initially getting the ****ing thing... went thru my carrier "Verizon" to get a replacement, although it worked out in the end for me cause the 2nd time I dropped the g2, they didn't have anymore g2 replacements so they sent me a g3 instead... if u have insurance thru ur carrier that's ur cheapest n best bet
You don't need to deal with Samsung directly as it sounds like you purchased the phone through Sprint. Take it to a Sprint store and explain what is happening or call customer support if you wish. They will be much easier to work with. To reiterate call Sprint not Samsung.

Already talked to them, they wont do anything they told me to contact samsung.
Maybe you was sleepwalking and you broke your screen? Joking. Now seriously your screen it's cracked. What do you expect from Samsung? "Yo my screen it's cracked! How did you cracked? I didn't cracked yo! Then how did it got cracked? I don't know...magic yo!"
Just pay the 200$, get your phone fixed and move on..
I am with the first commentary. I have a repair store here in France and I have seen 3 batteries swell up and break the screen. Not much you can do. Warranty will only get you so far. It seems the customer service ppl are there more to deflect the customers away more than to help. They are hoping For you to give up period .And move on so if you just keep trying and pressuring them though replace your phone if not your only option is To pay the $200 .
