HI Everybody !! Hello from Deb - Xperia Z2 General

Hi everyone ,
Hope you all are enjoying z2.
Just bought my Z2 (was using iPhone as primary phone) - wanted to buy Z3 but ultimately bought z2- looking forward to use it for at least 1 year . Hopefully z2 will get lollypop update.
by the way can anyone tell how to record screen video without rooting ??? I saw somewhere z3 is capable of doing that- but could not fogure out for z2. I need it very badly. Although I purchased one app , but that requires rooting - in this time I don't want to root. I am trying to be a android app developer so I need some app for the recording.
Another question - how can i import data like call log, msg(sms) , notes , to -do list (most imp) from iphone with MAC?

Not sure
You may be able to use the Sony PC companion bridge for mac
For screen recording you must be on 23.xxxx.167 or newer to be able to screen record
Its in the power menu

For the question regarding phone contacts and message import.
You need to download: Wondershare MobileTrans. Link:http://www.wondershare.com/phone-transfer/ With this program you can transfer your contacts, messages, call logs, calendar, photos, music, video and apps between iPhone and Android. If you still have your iPhone, if you connect both phones at the same time, you can use the 1 Click Transfor in MobileTrans. If you dont have your iPhone, then you can backup the iPhone in iTunes, and restore everything via the backup on the Z2. Hope that helps

Thank you for the infos

Two features i need before purchase

Hi guys,
I have been waiting for a long time for a mature Android phone (have had iPhone for the past 3 years) and i think Galaxy SII is just that. Its fast, speedy, have good camera, thin, pretty good standby etc...
Feature1 (or rather application suite):
What i been missing from Android phones so far has been a OSX sync, backup, music/video/podcast sync application and for Galaxy this is still missing sadly. So you guys who have OSX what do you use for the sync and backup? (it can be both freeware and thirdparty apps that cost, as long as its working without bugs)
Feature2:
This is something all old phones use to have but for some stupid reason have been removed on both iPhone and Android phones. I'm talking about recording calls natively (not interested using services or mic recording). You guys who know the hardware do you know if this is possible or is it like iphone not possible to do with this hardware?
Other then that i really love the screen of this phone so i like to upgrade to this from my current iPhone. Actually i have two sims so i will use both phones
Thanks for all answers
If I'm not wrong Samsung kies can Sync and Backup
And yes Call Recording is possible. Here is more about that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065110
Syncing music, videos is no big deal. Kies does it, so do countless apps out there including winamp. You can basically sync any damn Android or smartphone or dumb phone with memory slot using Winamp.
Kies also has functionality to backup your phone (apps can be synced to your google account anyway ).
You could try Kies Air, it is in your browser so it doesn't need any software.
(I could be wrong, because I don't have the SII.)
Thanks for all feedbacks.
I been searching and reading a little thanks to your tips and i the result wasnt all to positive.
At Samsung i found the Kies only for Windows (intressted for OSX).
samsung.com/se/consumer/mobile/mobilephones/mobilephones/GT-I9100LKANEE/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support
Same goes for winamp ofcourse which is a Win app.
Kies Air seems to be just for the older models also or has any of you actually been downloading it for Galaxy SII? that would be really nice....
I dont have Android phone to see what i can download but it seems all these call recorder apps work on some models and not others.
Call recorder:
androlib.com/android.application.com-opensystem-callrecord-jjDw.aspx
also
sv.appbrain.com/app/call-recorder/com.schass.recording.call
DroidRecord PRO:
brighthub.com/mobile/google-android/articles/101742.aspx
and
appbrain.com/app/droidrecord-pro/com.gonzo.droidrecord
Also read about TotalRecall which seems to be old and not updated.
Has any of you actually tested any of these and can verify that it works (on GSII)? which one?
Thanks for the help guys but please give me some info that you know for sure works on GSII. Links are also very welcome.

Its on SGS2 either as stock or via the Samsung update on the phone .
Not that i have ever used it as i copy and paste .

Thanks for confirming. I dont understand what you mean by copy/paste though! Music/video sure you can do that but for contact/calendar and backup i dont see how u can copy/paste.
Any way i'm saving some money for this baby so i hope it can work well under OSX. Seems all Android phones are made for windows. On the other hand SGII has other benefits like playing xvid/divx so no need to re-encode movies....
Doubletwist?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
DoubleTwist works great with OSX, I use it .
I can confirm that my GSII came with kies air pre-installed.
I use kies in windows but kies air in linux.
Drag and drop is really easy on this phone as well due to the large internal memory.
I use iSyncr, works great for iTunes music, videos and podcast synching to my MBP. There is an option to sync by Wifi at extra cost.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
You used an iPhone right?
So in baby words, instead of now using iTunes for iPhone/iPod, you use Kies for Samsung.
You can sync all your music/photos/vids/apps and what not
Easy? It's also the official software for it too so yeah
Ahh DoubleTwist AirSync looks the most promising so far. Pretty much same as itunes. Easy to use and just drag&drop, me like
I wish it had Address Bok, Calenday, Bookmarks syncing as well like iTunes but you cant have it all
By the way one thing i'm a but scared of and cant seem to find a consistent answer to is the application and their saved data. On my iPhone when i sync all application and their settings+saved data (game saves and such) are backed up. So when i do upgrades or jailbreak i can always copy back all i had.
How does this work on Android phone (SGII)?
Lets say i have a few games and have many saved data and want to try a new Android build? how exactly do you backup your data and then put it back? Has anyone done something like this?
Sorry for my noobish questions but after 3 years of having had iPhone it feels strange to not know how anything works. Your support makes the jump much easier
if you are installing new roms get Titanium Backup Pro. lets you store all game and app data on your memory card.
also for calendar and contact sync I've been happy with Google doing that and storing it in the cloud.

Great tips, will download it once i get the SGII. Thanks.
By the way i just might get mine Tuesday next week, the store is getting in 2 of them and i'm in queue so here's hoping. I been to the store 5 times and played with it. Tested my Bluetooth headset and played some music and it worked perfectly fine.
@Rooster19:If you going to help new people get rid of the attitude or just dont help. I love my iPhone but i'm open for trying new OS:es. Respect other peoples preferences and choices. If you dont like something dont buy it but stop judging people based on what they buy. i work in Telecom business myself and fall in love with iPhone directly from the release of the first device. After my 3GS it did felt a bit tiresome i couldn't access the memory, play movies directly (divx, xvid), change themes, play mp3 for ringtone and some other minor things that i saw obvious.
On Android side i tested many of them like Desire, X10 but they never felt smooth enough and the menus felt messy. SGII is the first device i actually think is mature enough for me to abandon my iPhone. I haven't got mine yet so maybe i go back to iPhone but from what i seen i think not. Time will tell.
Android has some flaws too but thats just the nature of products, everything has its pro and con. Anyway please understand that people have their reason for liking or disliking things. Just because you dont like something it doesn't automatically make it the right thing for everyone.

Tips and Trick - whatsapp notifications hot smartwatch
Hot smatwatch doesn't have a native support till now for whatsapp, so ho to receive a notification?
It's not the best way, i know, but while waiting for someone that maybe develope an app TASKER can help us..
First of all i need to say that i'm a newbie in tasker use so maybe someone can do it better but i think that this is a simple way that everyone can do.
Requisite:
-TASKER https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
-EMAIL ME PRO https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.caramellabs.emailmepro
-root device
Once dowload all open email me pro and complete the setting (smtp is very very very important)
now open tasker
Create a new profile
Select EVENT
on filter search for NOTIFICATION and select it
On owner application click on the icon and select whatsapp
Now maybe it ask to give tasker the accessibility so in the accessibility menu (of device setting) select tasker jb and put it ON
ok now profile is complete
Give a new task a name go on
Now select PLUGIN
now select EMAIL ME PRO and set is like you want is very easy
FINISH!
just a little video tutorial for tasker
Now everytime you'll receive a whatsapp message tasker send you an email... in this case on the Hot smartwatch mail app
Hope this help
Bye

The power of a good product I think is the comunity and the 3rd party apps! look at pebble than sony...in google+, the community of sony sw have 4/5 post at week, pebble have 4/5 every hour!!!
Bye! and have a good day
Daniele
Friends from CES, any news about SDK release? we have to start develop app and watchfaces!!!

some news from Google+ user in this community https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/117941715311215801130
post say:
"In the next few days we will release the windows simulator, you will be able to navigate the UI of the HOT watch and learn how it will work on your wrist. Hope this will keep you busy until you receive your HOT Watch."
Also looks like the ship date has been bumped down again to February.
Simulator is here
From Kickstarted comments page report:
The simulator can be found here: http://www.hotsmartwatch.com/download/ with the password Simulator4HOT.
Oh man... I really hope this gets some Tasker support like AutoPebble. That is the one thing worrying me about this watch.
I hope to, Tasker is a must-have!

Correct SDK links
It appears the links were mishandled somewhere and all the files on the SDK page are corrupt. I made a post with working links here http://hotsmartwatch.forumflash.com/index.php?/topic/28-correct-sdk-download-info-inside/

Stand Alone VS Phone Companion

Hi Everyone
I would like to hear what smartwatch Mode do you think is the best : Stand Alone or Phone Companion and answer some questions:
1.Standalone Mode what will be in this mode the most important and what you will use the most?
2.Phone Companion Mode : What you will use the most in this mode and what you will want to have ?
3.Phone Companion Mode : When you will receive a phone call do you think you will like to answer from your smartphone or your smartwatch ?
4.What Mode you will think use the most ?
5.Someone that use yet a smartwatch how is your experience what is not practical, what did you not like?
Specify the model and if its was a Standalone or a Phone Companion.
Thanks

Hi Damien, you probably know my reply already since we discussed it off-line
For me Companion mode is the most important. I would like to receive notifications of who is calling (so I can keep my phone on mute most and out of sight), notifications of txt message and being able to view it on the smartwatch (typically an easy implementation since its a short plain unformatted text), notification of calendar events so I don't miss a meeting or an upcoming appointment, and email notifications with a preview of the message.
In my personal opinion, answering call from a phone is optional but not necessary. Phone call is a private thing. I just would like to see who is calling and then make a decision if I want to dismiss the call (maybe with a simple rejection button or an option to send a few pre-defined txt messages like "i'm busy" or "will call you back soon"). If I need to pick up the call, I can always get my phone out of the pocket or pick up the call on bluetooth headset. With text message and calendar events, as I mentioned above, it is nice to preview on the screen of the smartwatch where I think 1.54"+ display is big enough to preview simple short text. With emails, it would be nice to see who is it from and body of the text. I wouldn't expect replying back from the watch; if its important and needs my immediate attention - I will take out my phone and type away the reply.
Of course, music control (of the songs on the phone and also songs stored on internal to smartwatch microSD card) would be important. Also, getting weather notifications from the phone is a big plus, as well as battery status of your smartphone.

Hi vectron
Thanks to taking your time to answer to all my questions, interesting suggestions like to see the battery status of your smartphone on your smartwatch seems to me a great Idea....
Just one question A.I Watch have a music player and you can play music directly from your A.I Watch, so why can be interesting to control your smartphone music from A.I Watch?

If you pair up your smartwatch with a phone (wireless through bluetooth), your smartwatch becomes a controller just like any wireless headphone with playback control. That's how it works with a Pebble, Metawatch, and any other basic smartwatch. It becomes very useful when you are streaming music from your phone to external wireless speaker and can control playback right from your smartwatch.

Yes but If I am correct on all those smartwatches that you mention you dont have the possibility to add music directly on the smartwatch and due of that not able to connect them to a Bluetooth speaker directly you always need to past from your smartphone....
You dont think its useless on a stand alone smartwatch ??

Yes, you are correct. Those other smartwatches don't have internal storage, so it makes sense to use them as wireless controller for audio playback on your smartphone. With AI Watch, TrueSmart and others you have an option of internal storage. As a matter of fact, I often use my TS as mp3-player on a wrist with my wireless headphones paired up directly. So in a way, its redundant to either play music from your watch or use your watch to control your music on the phone, since you can pair up external speaker directly to your watch. I do see your point now.
I believe there is a need for both a Standalone and a Companion. A standalone is great for those of us who have to carry two phones all the time. I know many people at work who have to carry their work phone and a personal phone, and at work the only thing the personal gets used for is checking email and taking calls from the wife. To be able to use the watch for that while still carrying the work phone for use all day would be great. And to be clear, the watch would ONLY be used for the personal as a standalone, and not also a companion for the work phone at the same time.
As a companion, which is how I use my Smartq Zwatch now is fairly useful, but would be infinitely more useful if: 1. Low power Bluetooth internet tethering; and 2. I need the option to let the watch make changes to the phone. I bought this watch so that I could see when I received text and email messages without pulling my phone out of my pocket but now I find that every time I receive a message I have to delete it from my phone AND my watch which actually make MORE steps in the process in stead of making the process easier. If I could have the option to "Delete Message From Phone?" Each time I deleted the message on the watch then it would make the process faster.
Just my two cents.

While running today I had a thought. I use my smartwatch with my Galaxy Note 3. The phone is really big but I love the s pen, the media capabilities, and the battery life. But there are times when I'd rather not carry such a big phone so I keep an old galaxy Nexus lying around. What would be really cool would be to have all the cellular capabilities built into my watch with the ability to bluetooth tether lte data through the watch and into the phone. The the phone mfg's could make sick devices without having to include radios. Instead of having to pay $700 for this phone I could have bought a Note 8 for like $300. I know the watch would be more expensive, but some are already paying $300+ for a watch AND $600 for a phone.
Then when I go running for instance, the watch could connect via bluetooth to my headset and I wouldn't have to carry around my phone at all since this screen does nothing for me while running.

So, is there a watch (ZGPAX, SmartQ, HOT) which does all of this today ? I don't see why this would be so hard today. Doesn't Android allow applications to communicate with notification manager. Isn't it just a matter of pushing all your notifications from phone to watch ? This is for messaging and phone calls. For email and other apps, update happens automatically on all devices which shouldnt need anything special to work on a watch

Hi ofsinreno
Thanks for all your suggestions, A.I Watch definitely do that we working on a Phone companion app by Bluetooth, and not Bluetooth tethering to be more battery efficient for both side, for now we succeed to get notifications etc...We still testing everything with different Android versions.
Hi cyrux004
Yes you are right all the smartwatches that you mention have this possibility but for the ZGPAX and SmartQ its by Bluetooth tethering and its not at all battery efficient. for the Hot is not a stand alone smartwatch so only the Phone companion option.
A Bluetooth app of this kind is new for everyone so actually not a lot of developers know how to develop it.

I always carry two numbers. My company number rings the most and having that sim in my smart watch instead of having two phones would be easier for me. Options like camera, media, anti theft, sdcard and internal storage are something I need for everyday use. Wifi is a must and if possible since the watch can use simcard I can use gps and edge to connect if no wifi is available. I know for some of this may seem too much but I prefer my smart watch to be a back up for my phone just in case and also have the option of controlling my phone remotely.

Android Wear & iOS - Apps?

Hi Guys,
I have LG G Watch and iPhone 6. I was using my watch with my Android phone (LG G2) and it worked perfectly. I downloaded lots of apps, even paid ones, watchfaces etc.
However, for some reasons, I now have to use an iOS device. I read quite a lot of threads on this topic, but still it is not clear for me. Can I add apps to the watch (sideload) while connected to an iPhone? I mean mostly (at least) apps which do not need an androdi device - calculators, calendars, spending trackers, etc? Games? Will any of these below work:
1. I read how to connect another phone without factory reset - by deleting a specific app's data. Will this work and keep my apps, allowing me to connect to my iPhone?
2. Sideloading the apps somehow with APK files, through USB on my LG G Watch?
3. Keeping the watch synched with the Android phone just to keep the apps on it, but at the same time connected to the iPhone with some third party app?
Will be grateful for any ideas you may have.
Thanks!

Hi ,
Well while most of the questions you have asked are already answered i recommend you refer to the below thread which will answer point 2 & 3 specifically and the 1st point to an extent (indirectly)

This will definitely help you
Thanks neivvv. I found this topic, but there is a bit too much to go through It was started before the Wear for iOS was introduced in the AppStore and I am not sure where the discussion starts for the current conditions. Do not take me wrong, I am not lazy at all, I am just interested in lots of things and click on different links on the replies, browse other pages and it may take ages. However, it seems very interesting and I will go through it. Thanks

DM98 Smartwatch Help

Hi i just got my DM98 smartwatch and had a few questions for anybody that has the answers.
1.) I got the watch synced to my phone and i wanted to be able to send and receive text messages, make and receive phone calls, and use the internet.
Question: is there an app or trick to make this possible or am i just S.O.L. ?
2.) I have read that it is possible to create your own clock faces.
Question: Is there a guide that details how to do this?
3.) Question; if i want to do anything do i need to root?
These are all the questions i have at the moment. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The trick is simple - go to the play market and look for notification software with a set of features you want.

2.) I have read that it is possible to create your own clock faces.
Question: Is there a guide that details how to do this?

The guide is simple - you should write your program. It's the most flexible way. Second option - you can go to the market and look for face designer or similar application. It' limited, of course, but you can try it. Third option - get watch face that you like and go into it's folder. There you'll find some pictures and may be fonts. Now you can delete the pictures and replace them with your own (with same name, of course), then restart your watch face application and you'll see your pictures instead of removed. It's most limited customization, but it's simplest.
Here is one watch face application.

If you really want to do ANYTHING you in fact need a lot of money first.

let me clarify a little bit.... i want to do this all through bluetooth. i have tried a bunch of apps and none see my DM98 Smartwatch as a bluetooth headset or anything of the like so i am a little confused with the explanation.

It shouldn't be a headset. It should be something like phone or smartphone with the ability to transfer any data. To connect to DM98 first turn bluetooth on on both devices (DM98 and your phone), next make one of the devices available to connection requests, then the device will advertise itself and second device should see it. When it's seen just touch it and select "pair". Only after this you can start your notification software and use it's communication features.
In short - you should pair devices BEFORE any third party application can do something for you. The pairing is performed using Android's bluetooth settings, no third parties should be involved.

You are talking about communication software. Chinese smart watches usually have just a subset of such functionality. It means you won't get everything pushed. But you can try to look for such software at the market. Search for key words like "notification" "smart watch" and so on.

my watch not opening. when i press power button there is nothing happen. what can i do? is there anyway to reset with a button on this watch?
Hi, I have a question, how we do for have the sms on the watch via bluetooth?
Reset
Have you ever tried resetting the smartwatch there's like a small pin hole in the very back of it take something to stick in it the watch will shut off and you just restart the watch back up and that should have fixed the issue
No 1, you can try these aps to enhance your dm98
1. Watch android phone
2. Android control panel
3. Heads up notifications
4. Rotation control
[SOLVED] Still getting used to the tiny keyboard, I had a typo.
I just got the Dev C14 (Bluetooth reports it's actually the DM98) and when I try to log into the Playstore with my existing account, I get past the email and password, but then it says to "Type in the text you see here" with a prompt but I don't see the text. Can anyone help please?
Cannot connect DM98 to Galaxy S8 Active
Hello fellow smartwatch owners. I have the DM98 like the size memory WiFI but cannot get it to connect to my Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. The phone shows the watch and vis a versa, they both are paired, but when they connect the connection is lost right away. Please help if you can

For downloading software use wifi. Start with Google play, etc. Best for installing software is to do it from your computer: just log in to Google Play windows.

Personally I use the much more stable Droid Phone and Droid Watch, on Google Play.
