I've looked everywhere for a root guide on here for my version of the s4, not only here a lot of other sites... Can anyone list a recently used root method that will work with my Samsung galaxy s4 4.4.2 sch-r970... I would be grateful. I apologize in advance if this posting is in the wrong section.. pm if need be. Thanks!

Here is the link for rooting with MF3
OP, please read up before you proceed. If you don't know what you're doing, I would highly advise against rooting at the moment.
Should be posted in q&a. Next time do little searching before posting

I have a
Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T SGH-I337 (got in Arizona, but says Made in Korea)
Firmware: 4.4.3
im trying to find a method that will work for my phone to root it, i have a 32 gb sd card and ive read that other people are not successful with the same phone as me, something like it being "bootlock" by the carrier in this case "AT&T" .
and i have no idea what like nb1 mk2 things are im seriously so lost in ever loop i need helpp lol
but ive looked around for solutions and cant seem to find one.
if there is anyone who can help me root my phone, ill give you any info that you need from my phone,
thanks !
There is no direct root method for KitKat. So, you have to do a partial downgrade to MK2(4.3), root and then install a pre-rooted KitKat ROM.

Let me know if you need more info

A galaxy S4 and a Macbook, those things shouldn't be in the same sentence.
However, I found this video on google: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5SluqWPus8&list=PLdq__cOJ2egyX7yodrOhlI1Tf2tHG_oVH
Hope this will help you root your awesome GS4.
Or else you could download an app called Towelroot and root the phone from the phone itself.

That guide is outdated and will not work.
Just use Heimdall to flash cf auto root. I rooted it that way using my mac.
Hey all, Just picked up the phone in the title, and I'm looking around, and can't seem to find anything at the moment that answers my questions. It's running marshmallow, and i'm wondering if there is a root and twrp that works with that yet, or do I need to downgrade to 5.1.1. If that is the case, can someone point me in the direction of a 5.1.1 I could download, and I assume flash with odin. Thank you.

Hi coltonbauman
At the 3rd post of the main S5 CF-Auto-Root thread you will find the root you need.
You should also follow the S5 TWRP main thread. Read carefully and you will find the link at 2sd post.
I STRONGLY recommend you to get acquaintance with XDA Search Engine as soon as you can.
Nice regards and good luck.
