I am using Note 3 for past few days, and it is becoming difficult to manage my contacts in 1 place.
I use many social applications like whatsapp, chaton, fb, twitter etc. and keep receiving new contacts from those places.
Also, keep adding new contacts manually or via different email applications (inbuilt email or directly opening emails via browser firefox/chrome).
Problem:
I want to keep all my contacts centrally in 1 place.. so I do not loose them.
Examples:
I added 2 contacts directly via whatsapp today someone shared the contact, after adding same to my contacts. 1 of them got added to my google account other did not, it got added to device.
Same happens when adding contacts via email addresses or social media apps.
Please guide your share your expertise, i am sure, I am not able to see things properly.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA assist. Please remember that XDA Assist isn't a general technical support area, I see from your post history that you pretty regularly post in the correct device section for your device, please continue to do so.
Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
Good luck!

Contacts > optionkey > merge accounts?
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
I have few accounts, list in order displayed on phone.
Device - 0 contacts
Sim card - 0 contacts
Whatsapp - (few contacts who use whatsapp are displayed here.. All contacts are present in google account)
google ([email protected]) (I have all my contacts stored in this account) (around 450 contacts here in different groups)
Exchange account ([email protected] this is primary/default email) There are many contacts here, which I dont want to add/merge to my phone, as this are business contacts and I only use them mostly for email. Many of this contacts also have phone numbers national/international both
Samsung ([email protected] using same exchange email id) Not sure how many contacts this has.
Facebook (More then 1500+ friends/relatives/business people here) Many of this friends are already present in my google account. I dont want to merge this data with my proper list.. as I never communicate with this friends on phone..)
Now.. when anyone sends me a contact via whatsapp or any other above accounts, it gets added to device or respective accounts only.. which troubles a lot..
I also want to sync only photos of people who are listed in gmail account (not all facebook contacts).
But next time, when I will do flash my rom.. it will disappear again !
Please help.. hope I am able to frame the question/problem properly..
Since I last upgraded to lollipop, all the photos I had for contacts are lost (as google does not syncs photos on gmail or google people)

Hi.
I tried to link one of my contacts to his facebook account but instead it linked him to ALL my facebook friends so all their details showed up under his contact info dozens of emails, phones numbers etc. Going into his contact profile and "unlinking" these others had no effect, all I could do was delete my face book info from the Accounts and sync settings and this removed the extra contact info. However his contact is still linked to two other contacts (google contacts) on my phone and I cannot remove the links for these no matter what I try. Any suggestions.? I'm using Villain 5.2 ROM.
Edit:. Also contacts I create on the phone don't appear, but appear on Google contacts. Contacts I create on Google don't appear on the phone.
Thanks
Hey everyone,
hope everyone's doing great.
I have a general question about android and the gmail contacts sync.
At the moment, I have my main gmail account, which is where I get all my emails, have my calendar, etc. And I have a separate gmail account which is especially made for my contacts and only contacts. I keep them nicely maintained in there, it's very tidy and I have no issues with it whatsoever.
My issue, though, is that I have my ~800 contacts from my main gmail account that I don't really want. I have disabled syncing of contacts on the main gmail account but they're still there.
This gets annoying (and a bit untidy) when trying to send a message, I type the first few characters of the contact and I get multiple entries of the same person, all duplicates.
Is there a away to get rid of all the contacts from my main gmail account and only keep the ones from my other (contacts only) account???
Thanks in advance,
Mike
I have not tried this, but it may work with a bit of playing around.
In your GMail account, go into 'Contacts' check the box next to all the people you want to appear on your phone.
Click on 'Groups' Tab and click on add to Android group or HTC Favorites.
If all your contacts are already in these two groups, uncheck the ones you do not want.
Try sync see if you only get this group.
Hi all,
I searched everywhere for this feature, but I haven't found it. It probably isn't there because it's hard to implement?
I have contacts from skype, gmail, live mail, my pc, exchange, etc.
Google asks me to link those account. It does that very good. But I want more.
Some exchange contacts have more information on one person then some contacts on my pc or gmail and the other way arrround. I would like an app that sets the contact information the same on every account and if there is a conflict of data not matching it should notify me so I could choose what is the right information.
It probably isn't there, but if there is, please let me know!
(weather it's an app, a service or setting, etc.).
Hi guys! I'm new to the forum, so I catch the opportunity to introduce me and to thank you for the great forum. I have always consulted xda for my questions and problems and now I decided to subscribe me!
Now, the problem: as the title says, there was recently a sudden and strange problem with the address book of my galaxy s4: when I create a contact, usually, I can choose between different accounts or devices with which to associate the number that I'm adding (Device , SIM , Google , Samsung account ), after I created it, the contact synchronizes it self with facebook, now, this don't happens. I'm regularly connected to my facebook account, infact it appears in account management and if I tell the phone to display only the contacts in the address book in my facebook profile, he does . So I can connect accounts only in device, sim, google+ and samsung. Under the heading "MYSELF", I am connected with google+ , but I can't change in facebook or somethings else (the pone says me: "can not change when in use"). This is very annoying, because I can not connect facebook to existing contacts (I have old contacts that recently subscribed on facebook) and also I can't add new contact to my facebook account! All the old numbers ( which at the time I imported with kies and combined with the " connection/joint " option when they were doubles) are connected to my Facebook account (via their email, it appears the tab "facebook" if I go to edit them ), but I can't connect the new ones! In addition, there is not even whatsapp (which is there in all old contacts ) . What can I do? thanks
From many backups and transfers across different phones and platforms most of my contacts are associated with multiple accounts. I always create them on the device and don´t sync with google or facebook or anything else. I use myphonexplorer to sync with outlook on the PC. I understand that a device based contact will also showup as a Skype, Google or Viber contact, since I use those apps.
That said, what I can´t figure is how to remove what I suppose is residual information from previous transfers between devices and accounts. When I edit a contact, sometimes other than the device tab it will have viber (which is expected) and google (expected when I have a google email for that contact), but will also have google tab on contacts that are not in my google account and the google tab will often show up twice. The only way I can clean up the contacts of the excess google tabs is deleting them and creating them again. 500+ contacts its a hassle, to say the least. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a solution?
Again, these are not traditional duplicates, that can be merged: its duplicate information within the contact, having it saved on various accounts.
TIA for any advise
