Problem with linked contacts - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi.
I tried to link one of my contacts to his facebook account but instead it linked him to ALL my facebook friends so all their details showed up under his contact info dozens of emails, phones numbers etc. Going into his contact profile and "unlinking" these others had no effect, all I could do was delete my face book info from the Accounts and sync settings and this removed the extra contact info. However his contact is still linked to two other contacts (google contacts) on my phone and I cannot remove the links for these no matter what I try. Any suggestions.? I'm using Villain 5.2 ROM.
Edit:. Also contacts I create on the phone don't appear, but appear on Google contacts. Contacts I create on Google don't appear on the phone.
Thanks

Facebook "Link Accounts" Creates Duplicate Contacts - Please help.

Hello,
I used the "link acounts" facility for the first time on my Leo last night, after having it working on my Touch Pro for a long time, rather than linking the accounts, it has created duplicate contacts in my phone...very, very annoying.
Is there any way of turning these leo/facebook-created contacts off or deleting them before I sync the phone with Outlook and have to go through and delete them all there?
Thanks,
Max.
Not sure how you managed to get it to create duplicates? All it does is link the contact on your phone with there face book. Worked fine on mine.
Edit: Just a thought are you showing your Sim Contacts as well? I found that enabled by default i think. So when i copied my contacts to the phone i had double. Maybe you are just using the contacts from the SIM but then linking them to facebook caused it to copy them over.
Nope, not using any contacts on the SIM, and I have no idea it either, but it didn't link accounts, it just created new contacts for the Facebook contacts, alongside my old contacts. The new Facebook versions have a small "F" (facebook) logo in the bottom left of their contact picture to indicate they are linked. The old contact doesn't.
Max.
Just in case anyone else has this problem, I sync'd my phone, ordered all the contacts in Outlook by "Created" date and then deleted the ones created by the Facebook link. Weirdly, the links were instantly transferred to the correct contacts and life can once again go on as we know it.
Thanks to bzdemes for the reply.
it happened for me too. not all the fb contact where duplicated but just some.. random... well i don't know why but i've deleted one (the one not linked).

Can't put contacts in groups

While cleaning up my contact list from transitioning from my old blackberry, I was trying to add contacts to specific groups (family, friends, work, etc). However, when in the contacts app, I click on groups at the top, click on a group, then tap Add Member, which takes me to a blank screen that says No contacts.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Going to gmail and editing my contacts' groups on my computer doesn't change it on my phone.
Yep. I have the same problem and so do a lot of other people from what I've heard. Haven't found a way to fix this yet. The only workaround I've found is add a new contact to your phone with the same name and link it with your existing contact.
There are two ways to fix this. One is to create at least 1 "dummy" contact for each category. THEN you can manually move contacts to categories correctly, though this is very tedious...
Or, you can use an app. Look for GROUPY in the market. This will allow you to reassign all contacts to the groups you desire.
I think found out the issue. You can't put the contacts that are from your google account into groups, they have to be contacts stored on the phone. This is just stupid, and I can't find a way to copy all of my contacts to the phone.
I tried out Groupy as you suggested, masterotaku, and it doesn't seem to do what I'm looking for.
I was able to move all my google (and facebook, and twitter, and phone stored) contacts to categories with Groupy, so I guess I don't understand what you mean...
What this app appears to be doing is creating phone stored contacts that link to the existing sync accounts (google, facebook, myspace, twitter in my case). I've been able to categorize all of these contacts seamlessly with Groupy. Took me a couple of minutes to un-mess the whole affair.

Groupy puts your contacts into a folder on your home screen. What I'm looking for is a way to get my contacts (all of which are either from my google account or facebook account) into groups inside the Contacts app on the Vibrant, which you can see on the pic I attached I took of the groups screen in the app itself. It appears you can only do that using contacts that are stored on the phone itself.

And I'm telling you that this app does precisely that.....All of my contacts are in the Contacts app's categories. I've since removed Twitter and Myspace contacts from the contact sync because it was entirely too many lol.
Groupy creates phone stored contacts and links them to their existing sync groups...notice the contact in the second snapshot..it's linked to the google and facebook sync's. Groupy does this....
I'm thinking you've downloaded some other app. search for "com.kigate.groupy" This app has NOTHING to do with putting contacts in a folder on the home screen.

I see why I didn't notice. I searched for Groupy, and downloaded Groupie. lol
Thanks a bunch, GROUPY is doing exactly what you said.

How to link contacts with FB contacts (for contact icons)?

I am having a hard time working this out. When I used my HD2 with Android and Sense, I had an option for linking FB contacts. I have researched this and done much of what has already been suggested. I even use Syncmypix to link contact photos to those of FB.
With my HTC and sense, I could choose to link an FB contact with any contact in my phone book. This makes sense as in some cases, people may not use their real names on FB... I would like a way to personally link them on my Galaxy tab but have NO idea how... On some contacts that are already linked, they have an FB tab when I click edit... but I have NO idea how to link those that are not already linked there is no option when I click on the menu button...
I have FB for Android installed. I do not have all my FB contacts on my phone. Instead, for sync, I chose sync only contacts which are already on my phone. Obviously, some did sync and others did not... I want to manually link them.
Can someone help?
I solved my own question... but with an error showing (but also with the result I needed).
Open contact, Go to the groups tab, look up the contact on the facebook group, click on the part that says joined contacts with the colored green icons... it will then open the phone book contacts for you to link them too.... it does not seem to work the other way round (click on phone contacts then link to FB or social network contacts)...
For me, once I did this, my phone screen went black and the phone vibrated a couple of times and then showed an error msg. Closing the error made the phone exit to the main screen... but the contacts were linked ofter that...weird! But hey, it works...
By installing the latest version of the Facebook by Facebook app and synchronize your phone contacts with your Facebook contacts.

Facebook account added, one contact won't import...

All of my Facebook contacts get imported & properly linked with my phone but one. I logged out of the Facebook app and even went as far manually deleting the contact from my telephone (I thought it may be a linking issue). Still, for some odd reason, the Facebook contact will not get imported into the telephone. I removed the Facebook account multiple times and have not had any luck. Any ideas?
Add that contact manually and link it to facebook
How would I go about doing that. I remember trying to edit the contact and linking them to Facebook (and I did not see any corresponding field that would let me do that).
Also, the individual sent me a PM on Facebook. I got the alert in the notification bar. When I tried reading the messages we had sent to each other back and fourth, the individual appeared as 'Facebook User.' I can see all my Facebook contacts through the Facebook app, including them. I deleted the contact. Will try adding them again. In hopes that the issue will be resolved... Keep in mind I have over 100+ Facebook friends and this is the ONLY person I am having issues with.
I have deleted them from all of my Google Contacts etc. So far, their name is just added as a contact in my phone. That's all...
Anyone? Ideas?

I can't do that because they don't even appear in the Facebook subgroup of contacts although I SEE them as a contact through the Facebook app.
Same problem here with a couple of contacts.

[Q] S4 Contact Picture Question

Hi all,
I've just moved from an HTC One X to an S4 and am setting everything up like how I want it, one thing I cant figure out which was relatively simple on the One X is the management/syncing of contacts and their associated accounts.
I have set the phone to display my Google contacts and each contact is linked with their respective Facebook profile.
Currently the phone will display the Facebook profile picture for the contacts that I have NOT uploaded a picture for in Google Contacts.
All other contacts will show the contact picture that is uploaded in my Google Contacts even if they DO have a Facebook profile linked.
Is there any way to change this?
I only want to have my Google Contacts in my contact list but want to have my contacts show their Facebook profile pictures who do have a profile linked with their contact entry.
I dont want to change the 'Contacts to Display' setting to Facebook Contacts as that will show ALL my Facebook Contacts not just the ones that are linked with my Google Contacts
Thanks for any help you can provide guys
