Hello,
So, I've just received my Dad's Nexus 7 (2013) that he replaced with an iPad. I factory reset it, and when I went to look for any software updates there was no option in the About Tablet menu (see screenshot). I understand that OTA updates have gone out for 4.3, 4.4, and 5.0. I'd like to avoid flashing or forcing any updates. Why is there no update option available to me? I'm stumped, please help!
Thanks!

It's really weird. Well, first of all this is a N7 2012 forum
But it seems like you're either running a custom ROM with an Asus theme (which I don't think) or running an Asus-branded firmware. Try asking in the N7 2013 forums

Thanks for the response! I agree, something seems a little odd. I'm re-posting in the 2013 forum.

Nothing about end of January?!
End of January only in Polonia ?

Right... No Hurry....
The way it is right now on my other devices, I hope Huawei takes his time and makes it for it properly.
I have Lollipop on my Nexus 5 but I dont like it too much. It has trouble in the duration of the battery and there are several features that are not going as expected. I wanted to go back to 4.4. but you can not!
Once installed, you can't return easily.
I recommend patience and see how this Huawei version works!

Sorry for offtopic but nexus is the easiest device to go back to 4.4.4!! Just download the factory image from Google and install via ADB. Yes it will wipe your device, but its possible. Try to downgrade a Samsung phone...
Ontopic: i tried to find the facebook posts from huawei where they say "its coming (soon ™)". I cant find them!
Sorry but there wont be a lollipop Rom from huawei in the next weeks... CM or slimrom would be nice.
Is this for real?

New update for our zenfone 2...
Have rooted my zenfone 2 with method 3 and have updated without unroot. No problem with the update. Root remain...
Still 5.0. Looks like December's security update.
can someone please post the zip? Mine got eerror in updating and cannot check update via FOAT since.
Thanks.
550 ota also now available.
---------- Post added at 07:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:03 AM ----------
But I have custom recovery, so need to flash a stock recovery. Will .88 work? Nothing later in the resources thread.
waiting for a zip too, error during OTA..
If you guys have root and you've downloaded ota thru system update the file can be found in the /cache folder. It's called dlpkg. Transfer it to internal or external card and rename it as zip extension.
Post the zip for 551 please

Could you be more clear please. Does this update also has issues with Xposed?
Be careful, the V2.20.40.150 is for CN SKU only most phones have the MM build, not CN.
Update successfully installed (even if no "Game Center" found) but what does it mean "Extend the shutdown mimunes by power key press"? Thanks.

Same here - updated on rooted 550, no problem so far. Can't see anything much different - it has the December google security patch, and there is one extra wallpaper (a turquoise/light blue one that looks a bit like Sony Xperia wallpaper). Don't see any game center or added options on the power off menu.
What the hell! Paid themes? For the phone that we already bought? And cannot use 3rd party themes? Seriously this is sh*t. What next? Need to pay to update to marshmallow?

Xposed v79 working fine
6045 marshmallow users have only one specific version of supersu that is working correctly right now. If you update it may appear to work but after a few reboots you will begin to get apps reporting superuser issues....to skip this altogether go into google play...don't disable auto update globally but instead go to the supersu app specifically and click on it's 3 dot menu...this will show you an "auto update" checkbox you can uncheck to stop just that one app from updating....other apps will continue as normal.
Hope it helps.
Well it seems that in the end you're convinced that you had only one right way to keep your root and not upgrade.

Yes and no...today I flashed 2.74-2 beta supersu which is the latest and so far *knock on wood* everything is working but I'm prepared to go back if it messes up.
Let us know how thing goes.
Looks like they finally released 7.0.0 software for the 5x, NRD90M

yep time to factory flash. 6p is missing, sounds like there is more issues over there.
Just noticed, downloading now!
Already flashed. So far things are great and fluid. All my apps restored including data, did not even have to log in. Impressed.

Did you guys need to do a factory reset to flash to Android 7 from 6.0.1?
All restored by the android internal backup? Or did you use titanium or something else?

I've been holding it until the final release ... pushing the OTA now ...
"C:\Users\blabla\Downloads>adb sideload bullhead-ota-nrd90m-fdb8250a.zip
serving: 'bullhead-ota-nrd90m-fdb8250a.zip' (~56%)"
***Update: It finished, and working great so far! Since I pushed the OTA there was no need to reinstall any apps or restore app data. However, when I have some free time (2-3 hours), I'd like to do a fresh factory install to compare performance. I didn't run into any issues with the OTA yet.

Actually that's not true. It mostly depends from which DP you started receiving updates. eg. I clean installed DP5, which had some features removed (eg. night mode, and it's also missing from the final), whereas someone who started clean from DP1 will have it on the final. For the final I guess they were waiting to update the Google Apps, such as Connectivity Services which got updated after the final OTA.

No, fastboot
I'll do it late tonight when I have time to spend doing a full wipe. I'm not looking forward to the fight to root it though. From what I understand, Google is cracking down on rooting.

It's really really really hard to root this phone. Fastboot flashing TWRP then flashing SuperSU in TWRP is tough. I don't know how I ever did it.
When someone that knows what they are talking about says Android is getting harder to root, they mean for those that initially find it (chainfire), not the user. For you and I, it's only a matter of flashing a cute little zip in our custom recovery.

I understand that, but I read this article (a month old) talking about the secure boot and only being able to boot and use partial operating system features if it detects corruption, such as rooting.

I'm using RoW LTE on my US-LTE device and I just received the 5.1 update 5 minutes ago. I'm excited to see some improvements. It seems launcher 3 crashes were one of the most dominant problem of 5.0. good thing I'm always using Google now.
If someone has finished installing theirs, how's the experience so far?

I just got the update and install it on my rooted and unlocked Nvidia Shield ORIGINAL Tablet. The update downloaded and successfully installed through TWRP, that said I’m pretty sure I lost root but that's easy enough to get back.
Update: You have to reinstall custom recovery. Also my device has seemed a bit laggy, it took about 15 seconds for my virtual keyboard to pop up to make this post.

I tried that using the URL pattern from Android M but I couldn't get the right changes. Maybe others will have better luck.
Btw, for those who have installed it, the new update messed up my TWRP. Just re-flash it.
After flashing TWRP and wiping cache and dalvik, it became quite laggy. Weird. I'll let it "settle" for a while.
I guess no matter how much this device gets updated, it can never escape the occasional lags. I suspect that these are caused by Nvidia apps. I wonder why nobody has called out this phenomenon yet.
Or maybe, it's about time that Nvidia release some technical docs for the geniuses of XDA to be able to make their own mods or improvements.
I received it some hours ago on Original LTE model.
Tablet is very smooth, 98 500 on antutu in performance mode.
