Picked up Lumia 830 RM-985 to use on T-mobile with LTE speeds. Some people call this a sidegrade, but it definitely feels like an upgrade!
Anyone else make a similar switch?

Hello,
I'm really close to buying the New I-Mate Jam (128 Mb Version). I need some help in deciding what to do. I'll be solving the no wi-fi problem by putting a Spectec or Pretec Wi-fi card. I don't mind that as long as it works properly. I live in Mississaua but will be going to university in Toronto, Canada and currently i'm with Rogers.
These are my following issues which are bothering me.
1) As of now, I'm in Saudi Arabia - They have the latest Jam but not the 850 Mhz Version but the 900 Mhz Version. People who have the 900 Mhz Jam - Can you please tell me how your reception is with Rogers ? If not Rogers, Fido. - This is one huge factor as i need to know how the reception is on the 900 MHz Jam. This is really bothering me as apart from this, everything else is perfect for me.
2) I know i could go for the PDa2k which has Wifi built in and is Quad Band and has a larger display than the Jam but i like the Jam for it's size - as it's really comfortable and not huge - i don't want something huge....please give me ur opinions on this - i fear the sliding mechanism might loosen up and like the vibrant color display on the Jam whereas the PDA2k's color isn't that great.
3) I'm really confused on which Bluetooth headset to buy -
Motorola HS850 or Sony Ericsson HBH-662..
I like the Hs850 for it's style and the black color which matches the New Jam's color and looks really sleek but i heard there have been echo problems. Please Confirm this and the compatibility with the Imate Jam.
Sony Ericsson HBH-662- looks nice but don't like the style compared to the HS850 but i might go for it - i've read good things about both the headsets except that in the 662 - there's no problems and in the hs850 - there's the echo problem. - finally, is the 662 compatible with the Imate jam - does it display the caller's name?
I guess that'll be all. I'd really reallyyyyyyy appreciate it if someone could help me on this. I'm going to get some sleep. I'm going to buy it tonight. I was confused between the PDA2k and the Jam but i like the Jam for it's size and weight plus don't like the PDA2k's keyboard. If the 900 Mhz reception's really good with rogers, id go for tht otherwise i'll buy this and get fido. Please tell me what to do as im really really confused.
Thanks a lot once again.
Don't by a Qteks110, wait for 9100.

That's only if he'd like to wait for 4 months ...
If you'll be doing a bit of traveling outside of N America, I strongly recommend getting the 900 MHz model. i am with T-Mobile, and I have very few problems with reception in the US, Europe and Asia. I had trouble overseas with my old 850 MHz triband phone.
lukybandit,
I am in Victoria, B.C. but am with Rogers and my 900 Mhz model works absolutely great, very few reception problems. I have owned many pda's and phones and this little unit rocks on all of the others. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!! Hope this helps

Title. Also will there be an unlocked version that could be used on AT&T in the US. This si my most wanted WP7 phone, but I don't want T-mobile. If it's a temp exclusive I may get a Focus or Surround and pick up a Venue down the road. Or keep rocking my iPhone until it releases on AT&T.
I'm pretty sure it'll be a temporary exclusive, but don't quote me on that. I dunno about unlocked versions.
There really hasn't been much info at all about this device. Start to frustrate a lot of people, including me.
If tmo had 3g in my area i would be getting this phone. But i am on at&t. I am leaning towards the focus, but if there is any hope of it on at&t I would hold out.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
yeah im looking forward to it if it comes to att
I would hold out for this too for AT&T. I don't really care for their current WinPhone 7 lineup. My only other hope is the HD7 Pro that should be going to Sprint and Europe next year. An European version means GSM so AT&T should come out with a version of it I would think. I just hope it doesn't take them a whole year!
The specs of the Dell version seems to the best of the lineup. Since WinPhone 7 isn't really landscape friendly right now anyway, a portrait slider fits the bill.
I am in the same boat as all of you. In Canada, all providers (except WIND, which has horrible coverage) use the same bands as AT&T. So I need any phone I buy to have 850/1900/(2100 for trips), and the contract terms in Canada are so terrible, that I always buy unlocked. So, any news regarding a Dell Venue Pro being released as unlocked with AT&T bands is good news. Dell Streak was released like that on Dell's site, so here to hoping...

When I first saw the 7 Pro, I assumed it would be for AT&T. Successor to the Touch Pro 2... Shocked to see it for Sprint.
It seems like it isn't going to be tied to one particular operator in the UK, but I expect we will know for certain after its launch on the Monday.

Just a thought for you. When i get my replacement I'm actually running on Mobilicity because they do the same 1700/2100 frequency as AT&T in the states. Granted it's a total pain to get the DVP up here but if your in any of the cities with mobilicity, i'd recomend them for the DVP and they have the most important thing of all!
UNLIMITED DATA, no caps, no speed restrictions! and it's a ten dollar addon to the most basic plan.
Just a thought.
Please note i ment T-mobile not AT&T
I am aboutto buy a HTC Evo 4G and used it with Telus Canada would the phone be compatible with the network ?
I know that Telus runs on 1900/850 MHz frequency bands and the Evo runs on CDMA 800/1900 MHz.
Would they work together ?
Thanks,
-Dv9
I wouldnt risk it as the desire hd which is basically the same phone, except for better specs is coming in feb or march
U need a ESN repair, which is not legal in US, not sure about Canada since I do ask a layer about those but not get response yet

Better processor. That's about it. Worse battery life and no front facing camera (or kickstand). It comes with a 1230 mAh battery while the Evo out of the box comes with a 1500 mAh. Also since the Desire HD is made from one solid piece of aluminum, you can't fit a large extended battery in there.
HOWEVER, it IS a newer phone and it's GSM. Trust me it'd be easier to just get the Desire HD as I have an Evo and the front facing camera is not a big deal. Plus with GSM it's as easy as pop in a SIM card and you're done. Most post-paid networks won't activate CDMA phones that aren't from their network.
tl;dr: Just wait for the Desire HD.
Thanks alot for the help guys.

Has anyone SIM unlocked an AT&T Nokia Lumina 920 yet?

Did you do a search in the 920 forums?
I couldn't find the 920 forum. I now realize I was looking in the wrong place.
Lot's of discussion on this issue over there. Thanks!

I'm from Europe and always liked the design of the 810.
Do you think it could be unlocked to run with a German SIM? (sry if this is a dumb question, I've always wondered about that)
