[Q] note 3 as a USB "key" to use in car - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is there a way to make the note three's storage and xd card appear like a USB key to my cars stock stereo? currently when I plug a USB key into the stock stereo it recognizes the music I have on it. When in plug the note three in via a cable it does not recognize it. It would way more handy to have my music on one device rather than duplicated on the note 3 and a separate usb key.
Thanks in advance!

Desk dock audio distortions

I have a t595 desktop dock (model # ECR-D979BEBSTD) for Galaxy S I9000:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECR-D979BEGSTA
I'm using it with with the Samsung Home Desk app. That app has an option to divert phone’s audio to the external audio jack on the dock – it does that via the phone’s usb (app settings icon> Internal speaker> off). All works great with the usb power cord not connected. But I get terrible distortions on the sound via that external jack with the usb power cord connected. It does not matter if the usb power is via an AC outlet or via usb jack on a pc. It’s not a malfunctioning dock since I tested this with two different docks with the exactly same results. It also isn’t a bad phone since I get no distortions on audio via the phone’s audio jack with or without usb power connected directly to the phone.
Any ideas as to why this happens or rather how to eliminate these distortions?
I can confirm the Problem! Im using a I9000 with the Dock D968BEGSTD.

connecting gnote to car stereo via usb cable is driving me crazy

yesterday i succeeded with connecting the gnote to my car stereo via usb,
using the following instructions
usb debugging mode off
while Idle then I go to usb utilities and press connect to storage pc
then I connect the usb cable
yesterday it worked fine, although i was bummed it did not read the music on the external sd card, just the music that is stored on the 16 Gb built in sd card, what a bummer.
BUT today i could not connect it and my car stereo gave me usb N/A
i tired to connect my experia play and my iphone and both worked and connected immediately via usb to my car stereo withut any hassles, by the way I faced the same problem with Galaxy S2.
what is wrong here, and why only do i face that with the note and S2.
I also noticed 2 days ago that every time i connect my phone to the computer and usb debugging mode is on after i disconnect the drives from the computer and then press disconnect from my phone the phone turns off. I did a hard reset hoping it would solve the problem and also formatted my external sd card to fat 32 but still no solution. I have installed kies on my laptop and it identifies the note successfully. Why does the note keep turning off when I disconnect it from my laptop or computer
I really need to solve this as I depend on listening to music in my car using the usb cable as listening to the music directly from the note via 3.5mm cable is really bad on my stereo compared to using the note as storage card.
I was so put down when I compared the same song being played from xperia play with the gnote using poweramp with the same settings, as the sound coming from the xperia play was good compared to the note which was awful. In this comparison both phones where connected via 3.5mm cable to the car stereo, so I have no choice now to only listen to music using the note as a storage card by connecting it to the car stereo via usb cable
this is when I miss the iphone when everything works out of the box, and I don't have to struggle like this
Please help me in solving this as its driving me crazy

Set as USB Disk Drive to play music via Car headset issue

Hey. So for the past few months, I've been able to connect my phone as a "usb thumb drive" to my car audio and play/control music directly through the headset. For some reason, over the past few days, whenever I connect my phone, the car will recognize the USB, connect, show a song playing, and then disconnect within seconds. And then my car is just waiting for a USB to be plugged in.
Have any of you had a similar issue or know what I can do to fix it?
BTW, my phone is currently fully stock, replacement phone from Sprint.
You have a firm usb connection? Also you enabled mount as usb on the phone?
I suggest putting some songs on a real USB flash drive, and see if the same thing happens. This way, you can help narrow down the problem to either your EVO or your car audio unit.
Another thing to consider is if you added any new files to your SD Card since it stopped working. Embedded devices with USB mass storage support can be pretty buggy, and its software can choke if it encounters a particular file that it doesn't know how to deal with.

[Q] Cannot connect phone to car via USB

This a rather specific issue, but none of the forums for my car were able to give me an answer. I drive a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS.
So I just recently switched from iPhone to Android, and I have been having a **** of a time getting the phone to connect to the car via the USB port in my 2013 GLS. With my iPhone, it was as simple as plug n play...not so much with the Android (it's a Verizon LG G2, for what it's worth), as every time I plug in the USB cable, I get "Connection Error" on the screen, and then it just switches back to whatever audio mode I was in before.
I know the USB port actually says "iPod" underneath it specifically, but the owner's manual vaguely hints at a universal USB music mode...I've gone through the menus and tinkered with some of the options, but am unable to find a solution. I really do not want to use Bluetooth. I will buy a car charger and aux cable and just have two connections if need be, but I gotta believe there's a way to have a non-iOS device hooked up through the USB port and be able to play music through it. I don't even need metadata to show up on the screen, just a simple connection would do it!
I am running AOKP 4.4.2. This issue persists even with MTP USB mode activated.

Won't recognize USB stick

I can connect my V20 to a Windows PC via USB cable, and transfer files back and forth. I had to pick something on a menu the first time I plugged in the phone.
However, if I plug a USB stick directly into the V20, it does not recognize it, or respond at all. My friend plugs the same USB stick into his V10 and an app pops up and shows the folders.
I'm using a micro-USB to USB-C adapter on the stick to plug into the V20. I know the adapter works, because I tested it when connecting to the PC.
I have searched settings for "USB" and it only comes up with USB tethering.
This is an AT&T stock phone, using the stock launcher. No root or anything.
Any idea how to get the USB recognized on the V20? Thanks.
it might be that the USB host function doesn't work with those adapters. have you tried plugging in a USBC to USB adapter and plugging a flash drive into that?
something like this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...rd_wg=lSGR4&psc=1&refRID=PMHQ664PCAEK6DN5N95J
or this
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Devices-Including-ChromeBook-Aluminum/dp/B00XU6IMWY
I've tried the same thing without success. My note 3 & 4 worked fine. I also had a Note 7 and Nexus 6P and it didn't work with those either.
has there been any advancement on this issue?
Did anyone find the answer to this? My V20 used to boot up a USB stick but just stopped working one day.
