[Q] strange things with s4 (I am not lying or crazy) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

OK so here goes. I had a phone basicly get destroyed. The glass broke and then when I attempted to fix it the up glue got in every sensor and then when I tried to remove the glass again I tore the digitizer. So I bought a bad esn phone in perfect condition and swapped the main board. Here is the strange part. My background is now on both phones, my saved wifi ssid's are still on my old phone but not the new one, and the old phone with the bad esn has mobile data. So both phones have data but I can not have them both on at the same time or I get crazy data connection errors. From what I understand the main board has all of the memory on it so can someone please explain this to me.

Repaired HD2, now no signal, can't find any networks

Hiya, I've got a HD2 with a couple of problems.
My brother had it as contract upgrade from his iPhone 3G back in February, and it was fantastic for around a month. As he never needed the insurance on his iPhone, he didn't take it out on his HD2, and you know whats coming don't you? It fell from his pocket and cracked the screen pretty badly.
As he didn't want the hassle or expense of fixing it, he went back to the iPhone and left the HD2 in a drawer. I found it a couple of weeks ago and asked what he was doing with it, he said I could have it if I got it fixed. The digitiser was the only thing wrong with it, so I took it to a local phone repair shop. After a week away having the glass replaced, I picked it up today and have found a couple of problems.
1. The phone can't find any networks.
I know its locked to O2, but with my O2 SIM card in it, it won't find any networks (the signal strength icon is the phone mast with an exclamation mark). Manually or automatically searching doesn't make a difference.
2. The Volume buttons don't work
They don't seem to make any difference to sound levels when pressed, and they seem harder to press than they used to be.
Now, I think the second problem would be fixed with a simple take-apart-put-together job, but I'm more worried about the first problem. Why would the phone lose the ability to find a network? When the digitiser is replaced, does the antenna get removed? Could it be that it hasn't been reattached properly?
I'd take it back and get it fixed properly.
Found no networks: I don't know the Hardware of HTD2 explicitely in its assemling process so I can just guess:
For my Touch diamond I got the problem that the antennacable (a tiny internal coaxial cable) was unplugged. That may be the problem here, too if GSM-Antenna is softwired in HD2.
Or try a hardreset (probably reflashing)
to get to the screen you have to strip every last part of the hd2. hunt down the official assemble disassemble video.
your problems have all the hallmarks of assembly errors. an antenna cable gets tugged when you close the case, volume buttons get caught, etc etc
id take it back and have them look at it again.

I agree with that. And most likely they will do that for free as it was their fault (if its an assembly error)

[Q] HTC HD2 problem with GSM signal

hello,
my HD2 device fell on the ground and my digitizer crashed... fortunately i have screen protector, so touch and everything works. Problem is, that i have no signal since it crashed. I want to buy new one but im afraid that new digitizer won solve my signal issue. I also want to ask where is antenna located and if itş possible to fix. Sorry for my bad english
Yep the digitizer wont fix your signal issue, but when you will open up you phone, you will see loose wire. Just clip it in to its place and your done

[Q] WIFI problems after screen replacement

Hello Guys,
I just got my HD2 from repare, had to change the screen since it became unresponsive.
After I got it back, installed both WP7 and Anrdoid on it, I found out that the phone is not detecting any wifi networks. I tried in both WP7 and Android, and both of them do not detect any wifi networks. So it looks like when they changed the screen, they messed up WIFI connectivity. I'm guessing they might have forgotten to connect one of the connectors.
I am planning to take it back to them, but I was wondering if any of you knows which connector is for the WIFI, and if its easily visible once I take the back cover off, since I already done that before.
Thanks in advance
Hi dude,
if a connection is a problem and you even going to find it don't do it yourself.
it's a pretty small and gentle stuff, so you must know what you doing and how to connect them. Obviously you will need some serious tools.
my guess if you had all that - you already been doing this and not asking here.
so advice - not touching anything, not making it worse.
Best case: the connector came loose (which is not all that uncommon). It's the connector on the black wire on the top right side of the main board.
Worst case, they broke off a contact (which is also quite common).
Either way, don't try to repair it yourself but bring it back to the repair shop. If they accidentally broke off a contact then that requires a professional repair.
Thanks guys.
After some tests, I found out that the phone does detect wifi networks, but have extremely bad reception. I have to be very close to the wifi router for it to detect the network.
Any idea what might be causing this?

Like I said, either a loose connector or a contact has broken off. That will give you about 1 bar of reception while sitting next to your router...

[Q] mother board/logic board

any one now where i can get one? dropped mine into the drink and after drying it up real good it only works as a tablet now, no more phone function.it cant detect IMEI and has no service( service disabled) sim card works fine on other phones by the way.
the phones a: LG G2 d802
open it up and clean it with battery detached with 90-99-100% alcohol, dry try again. Not fixed check which areas look broken/rusted/busted replace those. Chances are you may replace entire phone.
His EFS partition seems to be missing. Probably some storage damage.

SM G950U Network/Antenna issues

Heya guys, to make a long story short, bought an S8 on ebay, Verizon G950U, and was told the camera didnt work and there was no IMEI etc...
Upon checking, the front camera has a torn connector. I fiddled around with the daughter board where the antenna connectors etc.. are, (breaking the speaker and its entire cover in the process) and sometimes I randomly get cellular back, but it doesnt stay for long. i'm not sure whats faulty, but I'm certain it has nothing to do with the mainboard. The latest time the connection popped back was when I tried moving the back cover back on, I guess something must have clicked. I already reinforced the wires and the surrounding connectors, but I cannot get cellular at will. Would replacing the board in it's entirety be a fool proof solution? Hoping for help on the matter.
EDIT: Not sure if it was coincedental, but Also during one of the times the cellular service returned, it was immediately when I plugged my headphones into the device.
