On a lighter note --
Steal someone's efs backup, flash it, generate/get a valid IMEI from one of those sources who were doing good business during the "Chinese Phone" fiasco in India and force feed that IMEI

should i use the efs which is of only g3 one's or can i use any android one's???
Srinivas buddy - i would like you to note that i am no techno whiz and therefore my comments on this problem may also be taken with a pinch of salt. If i had to hazard a guess, i would surely try a efs backup from G3 rather than any other phone. The problem which will arise after you have flashed the efs & its succesfully working, is that there will be potential conflict of the IMEI in case both phones are active. Therefore, it is imperative to change the IMEI at once - and people do say that getting a valid IMEI is possible
To repeat myself - i am in no way responsible for any damage which may result from the above and hope that the DEVs have a better solution than my wild-ass theory

ok...but im a little bit confused...can u clearly explain me...sorry for that
What i mean is that when you "borrow" the efs backup from another phone and flash it to yours - then both the phones will have same IMEI since both carry the same efs information. This may cause problems when both the phones are active on the cellular network and i believe it may also be illegal. Therefore, it is important that you should get a new IMEI number as soon as possible.
Please remember that this is all guesswork and not recommended. However, if you dont care about possibly bricking your phone then atleast choose a efs backup from a phone which is exactly the same model as yours & running the same build / firmware + consult the DEVs before this

i don't know wheather it will work or not, but just try this,
copy and paste efs folder of some other galaxy 3 to system folder using root explorer and edit .imei file with text editor and type your imei which will be there in bill or it will be on box and save it.

Check the above link and get yourself a valid/genuine IMEI number instead of getting into trouble!
if everything else fails, flash the official eclair and update it to froyo via kies. then take it to a samsung centre and say you lost your imei during official update through kies. they ought to fix it

I think its pretty much worth a try, to be completely on the safe side u could just flash a firmware with bootloader, when Odin is at bootloader flashing pull the USB cable and the battery, your phone will be a brick then. Just go to service center and tell them that it didn't turn on after a firmware update with kiss.

[Q] GT-I9505 IMEI Null

Hi everyone, I have a huge problem in my hands and wanted some guidance from you guys.
Recently I bought the GT-I9505 in the US and then I moved back to Brazil, once I got here I got an update OTA from 4.2.2 to 4.
After this update my network signal was gone , then after some research I found out that my IMEI number is lost. When I dia *#06# it appears that the IMEI is Null. My question is , is there any way of fixing it or is my phone gone forever? If I send it to mobile phone service is it possible that they fix it?
Thanks in advance guys... This forum is incredibly helpful
i am also having the same problem, after updating from 4.2 to 4.3 imei null and baseband unknown. i will let u know if i found some thing, i am trying to fix from last month, still no luck

Before giving an answer we're going to need a little more information. What steps did he do prior to losing his IMEI, did he flash a custom rom, custom radio, or did it just magically vanish?

Hi,
Me too lost my IMEI and stuff back in July. It took me 1~2d figuring out the solution but i finally recovered it, and so do many other members on xda. But the problem is i don't remember exact name of software which fixed it. (I was too overjoyed to have it back so i didn't noticed).
Here are some of the software i used-
IMEI &SN Writer V1.5.3
MauiMETA(IMEI)
SN_Write_Tool [MOST PROBABLY THIS WAS IT]
SP_META_V1.1720.00
IMEI by kustom Hackers
-----Message me if you cant find any particular software, I will upload it on my Gdrive for you.---
NOTE If nothing helped then you can go to this page-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k4-note/help/lost-imei-t3594918
Here i member fame can provide you nvram which can flashed to fix it. BUT BE CAREFUL, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR IMEI WHICH IS ILLEGAL IN SOME COUNTRIES! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN WILL. I too contacted him and he gave me nvram (which i lost of course) but i never used it. Kept it as a last option if i would've failed in case.
