Hi All,
I'm running stock Lollipop 5.0.1 on my Nexus 4. I haven't rooted it and don't plan to
My issue is with the new lock/notification screen. I'm using a pattern to unlock and with the new lock screen I have to swipe up, then enter my pattern which adds an extra step over ICS.
I'm also using the smart lock so that it disables the pattern, but I still have to swipe to unlock which I don't want (I use it in the car connected to the radio and want to use voice commands. So not having to swipe is much handier)
Is it possible to disable this swipe/notification feature and use it like the ICS unlock screen, but retain the smart lock functionality
I've looked at other lock apps but they don't seem to work with smart lock.
Thanks in advance for any help
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Is there anyway I can get rid of the slide to unlock and go just with the pattern lock? As of now I have to have the slide to unlock and then have the pattern unlock which just seems pointless to have two unlocks...

Yeah, I don't understand why that is like that. When you enable the pattern lock the slide unlock should be disabled.
Yes, they seriously need to resolve this. I do not have any security turned on now because I refuse to do two different things to unlock my phone. Come on verizon/motorola!

I think it's perfect as it is. Set your security settings to enable after 10 minutes, then it wont annoy you.
If your phone went straight to pattern, you wouldn't have access to the quick slide-to silence, media player controls, (if you use a custom lock screen, other shortcuts) and you'd have to enter the pattern every time it turns the display off, even if just due to you reading something on the screen.
Sussed. Took me a while to get familiar with my Dext to come to the same solu
tion. Good to find a forum for such..am old and mid-tech tho want to learn.
I've never used the pad lock deal you guys are talking about, but there is a free app called "No Lock" that will disable the slide to unlock. I'm pretty sure it would probably take you straight to your password screen.
This is another thing Motorola changed with their version of 2.2. Stock Android takes you directly to the security screen if you have it enabled
Stock Android goes straight to pattern unlock. That's how it should be on this.
Hey Ppl....
I've found a file called libphonelock.so under /system/lib/
Maybe if you remove it with the TB, that it remove X10i lock screen?
anyone as know it?

ZOMG. This is definitely a step in the right direction.
I'm going to contact the developer and find out if I can get the code to the lockscreen disable portion of the app. Would love to see if I (or someone with actual Android programming experience) could tweak that into something that disables the swipe lock but can keep the pattern lock enabled.
-edit-
Email sent, though BIP's developer is out of town this weekend. If anyone knows of any other apps that accomplish this, I'd be interested to know.
lock 2.0 disables it, as well as the app "no-lock".
problem is, even with the new version of battery indicator, every app ive tried the stock slider still manages to come back someway somehow , battery indicator seems to be the best solution so far, and im wondering if its lock 2.0 that somehow brings back the stock slider.

Hey have you ever been able to receive a response from the dev?
If you are seeking a "new" lock screen, or the "no slider" look.
I highly recommend Widget Locker.
It has a root bypass of the lock screen "5 second rule" which starts up the "old" lock screen.
I bought the app, used the root bypass option, and i havent seen my old lock screen yet.
They even have a keypress unlock, if you want a very simple lock screen, and you can hold your back button down for .5-2sec or so to unlock.
Though, I dont use the pattern lock, so i have no idea if it works in combination with this or not?
Edit: Disregard, I didn't realize the age of this thread D:
Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread. Funny thing is that I actually did start using WidgetLocker and I DO sometimes get the stock lock screen before it starts, so I was looking for a way to completely disable the stock lock. There are some apps out there that remove the stock lock but it causes every hardware button to wake the device up, which is no good. (This includes battery indicator as I just found out)
Yea, thats no good, it kinda defeats the purpose of having some sort of alternative lock screen when it wakes up on key press like that
I'm not sure why, but i have never got the lock screen to pop up again, unless i kill widgetlocker myself.
Well, if you indeed find out how to get rid of that lockscreen, i would love to know, it would be nice to not have a app constantly running pretending to be an alternate lockscreen, you know?
I am using the Extended Controls app from the market.
With it you can enable & disable just about everything the X10 uses (including the lock screen).
Hey
I have really good idea for the unlock pattern, but don't have the skills to make it
so I would like to give the idea to you
When you put an unlock pattern you can't mute the phone, but with the regular "slide to unlock" lockscreen you can. Now my idea is to make a second pattern to mute your phone or think a bit further you just could launch apps with a sepcific pattern
Would like to see some day this type of unlock screen
THX Oli
lock screen gestures already do that.
they're built into CM.
i don't know about outside of CM though.
edit: ohhh! wait, never mind.. i read wrong.
that could be neat!
i think that would be super neat except with exchange set up you dont get the option to use the unlock pattern(which I love), just a number pad if your exchange requires security
I thivk you miss understood me
you still keep the normal pattern unlock screen
but an aditional feature with that you can set up an additional pattern in the same unlockscreen so that you could just set that up to mute your phone or just launche an app
sorry for my english xP
This is a really coool idea. I hope someone does this soon enough.
I know what you mean and it would be great, I just couldn't use it because corporate security only allows pin unlock in exchange server
i have this working using gestures.
Using CM goto CyanogenMod Settings > Input Settings > goto the last line... Disable unlock slider.
Before u do that in the same Input Settings there is Lockscreen gestures... there build a gesture to unlock phone (and watever else u wanna do like launch an app etc)
lock the phone and try unlock. It works fine. Just dont forget the gesture to unlock
Its actually better than the ordinary unlock .
haha i guess the OP hasnt ever used cyanogen ROM? all this is built into cyan, very nicely i might add too!
I think he would rather it be a part of the pattern unlock screen itself.
Possibly like this (O = part of pattern X = untouched)
Unlock:
OOX
XOX
xOX
Going from top left to bottom.
Volume control:
XXO
XOX
OXX
going from top right to bottom left.
Each pattern controls a function that normal sliders would, but keeps the cool pattern unlock and security of it.
I myself would love something like this as it would be more accurate than the cm lockscreen gestures.

I agree with my preposter. I made the same experience that it sometimes is hard to get gestures working because of it's inaccuracy...

So I just upgraded to the OOS 3.0.2 MM build, and there's a new issue that's greatly annoying me. If you lock the phone with the power button, the fingerprint scanner will unlock it fine. However, if you lock it with something else (as I do with both shake-to-lock and Nova's lock actions), it will insist on ALSO asking for the pin/pattern unlock once your fingerprint has been scanned.
Anyone find a way to disable this security feature while still having a fingerprint unlock in place? Neither Gravity Box nor the security settings are presenting any obvious options
That's a feature of Android MM, not OOS. It can't be disabled.

There is no way to disable it? Even rooted? No xposed or system level hack?
It seems to be an error in design of Nova launcher and other solutions. They don't use the correct way of locking the phone hardlocking instead of softlocking, and therefore the phone will ask for pin just as if you restarted your phone.

I had same issue when i used double tap to sleep in nova launcher prime.... i is because it uses device administrator to lock phone! I fixed by using root to lock my mobile....
Long story short you need your application to use root to lock your device!
But what if the shakelock app I use (and love!) doesn't use root....? It's sounding like I'm out of luck here. How have you managed to make Nova use root to lock?
I guess I'm more of an Apex guy, don't fancy Nova launcher even though I bought it a couple of years ago. I just double tap on top part of screen to lock, or press the power button, or let it timeout. For unlocking, I just use fingerprint, no fuss, no asking for code.
I was happy with Nova Launcher (which is currently on sale for $0.99 on the Play store), until I found out that it has a bug in voice searches from the Home Screen's search bar. It annoyed the heck out of me as it kept on complaining "App not installed" when clicking on the little mic. I had to click on the search bar and THEN click on the other mic that appeared, inorder to access voice search. Defeats the purpose of the voice search b/c I use it a lot while driving and I cant be bothered to be clicking through so many hoops. So I switched my homescreen launcher to Google Now Launcher, while keeping everything else Nova Prime.
For anyone interested, I have found a sort-of solution. Using a combo of Xposed Maxlock and Lockscreen Disabler, it's possible to have a lockscreen up that you can dismiss by using the fingerprint sensor. There's a fairly obvious downside in that it doesn't matter what fingerprint hits the sensor, as anything at all unlocks the screen (which is Lockscreen Disabler's function) but it works as a way to use a non-root lock method that still allows you to unlock the screen with just a touch. Until such a time as someone finds a better solution
I'm pretty sure that it's easy to write a simple apk that uses the root method to call the screen off function. Only if someone would write that
Why I tell that - because if You double tap the status bar - the screen locks and You can easily unlock it just with the fingerprint sensor... therefore, that function does exist already in the ROM.
Yeah, I've got the Nova rooted lock function working, so those actions or GravtiyBox stuff like double tap status bar will work and not require pin+fingerprint, but my specific ask is this way to lock the screen by quickly flicking/shaking the phone (which is GREAT and I don't understand what hasn't been included in stock) - none of those seem to use root to lock so this workaround is a way to have that convenient screen off + convenient fingerprint on.
Hi everyone, I just got my AT&T Lg v20, for some reason I can't seem to get rid of the "swipe to unlock" screen. It is really annoying because I set up the fingerprint unlock and I thought that just with the fingerprint it can be unlock, but after I unlock it another screen shows up (the swipe to unlock screen) and it is very annoying. Does somebody knows what is going on?
It seems if you use a third party launcher, the use finger print to unlock will still require the pattern when you use knock to close the screen.
Either use the stock launcher , or in my case, greenify.
double tap in Nova to start Greenify's auto force close for apps. check the alternative method in Greenify settings for this to work
Sir you have saved my life. Thank you. I had the buzz launcher but it was not enabled I just unistalled it and it worked thanks again.
