Nexus Player gamepad controller - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have anyone successfully remapping the N64 emulator for the Nexus Player gamepad controller? I can't play SF Rush and can't get a sword and shield equipment in Zelda game due to the start button isn't mapping.
I'm using Mupen64.
Thanks

I second this question - How does one Remap a controller?
Have a red samurai that works Great but need to be remaped for Mupen 64

Did any of you get this to work and if so, do you experience lag with the remote when playing Emulators? My NES and SNES Emulators respond about a second later to user input from the Asus game pad. Curious if the same issue occurs with N64 Emulators.

Installed this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=paulscode.android.mupen64plus.free yesterday and mapped the gamepad in the options without any problems, the power button got to be start cuz i couldent map home or back without them trigger the android default stuff.
No input lagg only some minor slowdowns on default settings on Mario 64, havent looked into moding the video options yet, so that will go away i think.
Also installed RetroArch and mapped the gamepad and all those emulators work just fine.
i use LolliRock ROM and NOT the default ROM if that makes any difference.

If you try NES.emu or Snes9x, let me know if you get lag with remote input. Mupen 64 seems fine, though. If you don't get lag, then I'll try LolliRock ROM

the NES.emu is not free so wont be able to test it, RetroArch got a NES emu so dont need to buy one, but is this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.explusalpha.Snes9xPlus the SNES emu you would like to know if the gamepad lags with?

The Snes9x worked without input lag with the gamepad and Lollirock.

Wiimote as mouse on Atrix + webtop.

I love using my atrix as webtop on my television, but the problem is i do not have a bluetooth keyboard or mouse. I was wondering is there a way to use the wiimote as a mouse, i am not saying using the wiimotes pointer or sensor, just the d-pad and the B and A button for left and right clicking. I want to be able to control my atrix from my couch.
Also is there a way to have a virtual keyboard popup on the webtop?
Bump, anyone have an answer/suggestion?
That would be sweet. I could donate some to a dev for this.

Does the webtop hack have any lag when you play games?
I was watching youtube video and seemed like it had a tiny bit of lag.

Yes there is lag when using the phone mirror on the webtop. Makes games hard to play (such as emulators). We still need landscape hdmi mirroring to work so we can play games through hdmi.
search to market for wii. There are a few apps that let you connect a wiimote for playing games/emulators.
If I recall, one of them lets you map the buttons how you want. While you may not get smooth mouse movement, you might get the d pad to work..

Wiimote via Bluetooth

Is there a way so that you play games that way

There are a few apps in the Play Store, most notably "Wiimote Controller" that will let you use the Wii remote and map the buttons to keyboard buttons.
But this will really only work with emulators as you can create custom controller configurations.

Emulator issues with Ouya controller

I can't seem to get any of the emulators to work with teh ouya controller. Granted I haven't edited anything in the emulators themselves, but would like to think they come pre-configured for the ouya controller since I downloaded them from the Ouya store.
N64 emulator works with the ouya controller pad, but the SNES and NES ones dont do anything. Any idea why?
You need to map your buttons in the emulator settings menus. I was playing super Mario world last night with hiccup after I did that.

Which SNES and NES emu's were you using? All the ones I've tried automatically detect the ouya controller and work with no configuration. I've only used the Robert Broglia, which I recommend his emu's over any others.

Robert Broglia? Did you sideload that Emu? I dont recall seeing that in the Ouya Store.
I have had occasional issues with the controller connecting as controller 2 even when its the only controller on the machine. Some games and programs don't seem to work properly with only the second controller connected.

Sorry i was typing quickly earlier, Robert Broglia is the name of the dev who put out a lot of the EMU"s on the OUYA. He's responsible for all of the .emu emulators (i.e. nes.emu, 2600.emu, etc.) and the Snes9x EX+ emulator.
I read on this board that Tincore Keymapper is supposed to work on the Ouya. I haven't tried it but plan on it later today.

From Ouya to Mojo

Wanted to start with saying that i've been using Ouya from all my retro needs from 6 months now, the main use for the ouya has been the Xbmc support but i occasionally play FPse, MUPEN and GSNES. I was even brave enough to try the gamestick for a week before returning it to gamestop and using the credit to purchase addiontional Ouya. Recently purchased a mojo and was really looking forward to finding out if the ps1 games would run quicker, if xbmc would run smoother when im jumping around a movie looking for favorite scenes (i use 1080p DTS files that are 10GB+ not those low bitrate YIFY files) and thought it would be awesome if i could finally connect more than one ps3 controller and even an Xbox 360 controller. A huge downfall and prehaps a dealbreaker has been the navigation soft keys that appear in most of my applications, i know this isnt completely mojos fault (i blame you google) but im really hoping they release 4.4 kitkat real soon which adds immersive mode and hides the navigation soft keys when a game or movie thats using full screen. its extremely annoying that the navigation soft keys appear when im trying to watch a 1080p movie using XBMC v13 beta1/beta2, i even went as far as to install the Ouya version of xbmc hoping that would work but it didnt. I found two applications that can hide the navigation soft keys like GMD AutoHide and full!screen but both require root, i will root my device once my usb a to a cable arrives but i feel its insane that i need to root my device just so i can hide some keys that shouldnt be there to begin with (seriously madcatz why did you need those keys visible when the controler had home and back keys). if the experience doesnt improve by using one of those two apps than im going to return the Mojo. Please reply if you have any suggestions that wouldnt require rooting my device to remove the navigation keys.

I use MX Player Pro, it's in the start up wizard http://mojo.madcatz.com/index2.html
It hides the soft keys when not moving the controller.

Thanks for the suggestion but I should have added that all my content is on a synology 1812+ so I can't simply connect it through USB. I guess I could setup a nas connection using ez file manager and have MX player play the files but that is a ridiculous way to play movies. I wanted this box to replace my living room ouya but so far its looking like this box is going back to Amazon.
Rooted the mojo makes the console way better. So I would definitely do that.
I also came from the ouya and honestly would have stuck with it if wasn't for the fact of no play store. I like the mojo since it's basically android and can customize it it to my liking.
Anyway I would highly recommend rooting the mojo and using the play store mod. Then use that app to hide what you want and enjoy just how better the mojo is.

It's odd that xbmc doesn't have a setting for making movies full screen. The Netflix app, Hulu+ app, and quite a few others I use regularly occupy the entire screen during play back.

I read that some applications, mostly the ones you named used tricks to achieve becoming full screen apps.

The ouya can obtain the play store once you root it, guess its similar to the mojo that modifying is required before making the device worthwhile.

100mb Ethernet
I setup FTP and just realized that the Mojo just like the Ouya only support FastEthernet (100mb) and not GigEthernet (1gb)

Thank you for that, when i get my M.O.J.O. back i will install this version.
My M.O.J.O. whas freezing everytime, and was getting very hot, so sent it back for repair.

What emulators do you guys use?

I tried out mupen64 and it was pretty good, bit buggy. PPSSPP was alright. Retroarch crashes for me with Lolirock. Just wondering what you guys use to play games on it.
Been using paid version of Mupen with an original XBOX controller.. worked beautifully
Quickly tested Retroarch and worked fine for SNES games, hopefully it will be updated so it shows up on the main screen
Using stock rooted 5.1.1 Android TV on Nexus Player
snes9x and mupan, both work well. I am hopeful that someone writes a nice EMU interface for AndroidTV, that rivals my friends RetroPI.
For the Shield, I'm using FPse for Android, which has been great to be honest. I love the fact that it also looks for the game images too. Even able to use multiplayer with Crash Team Racing and two controllers.
Np
Hi, I use fpse for ps1 games, works very good. Md.emu as has the best controller setup I can find for multiplayer use and speccy. All in the game store official now
Has anyone been able to install dolphin emulator yet?
I cant i think Its because Its developed for arm64 and our device is x64?
Ps i tried Some apks without success from here: https://buildbot.dolphin-emu.org/builders/release-android
M.A.M.E.
Anyone have any luck running mame emulator on nexus player? I havent had Much luck. When I use Mame4droid most of the roms will load with a black screen but i can hear the audio. This one works on most of my other android devices.
thanks..........
The .emu emulators by Robert Broglia are the best ones available for older systems like the NES, GBC and GBA along with SNES9X EX+. For the Sony PlayStation and PSP, I recommend ePSXe and PPSSPP.
What about Sega Genesis/CD/32X stuff?
MD.emu, which is also developed by Robert Broglia, emulates the Sega consoles quite well.
Dreamcast emulator " reicast " works now on x86 systems and of course on Nexus Player. Nexus Player gamepad was recognized. You must use the debug build of this app, not the outdated Play Store app.
https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-why-there-isn-t-the-x86-64-recompiler-in-dolphin-mobile
This should be an explanation why dolphin (wii and gamecube) doesnt work on our device yet
Ps what version of ppsspp Do you guys use? I can launch it but when i start a game it doesnt work. (and what games Do work?)
Hi there how did you get this to work, been trying for days with no luck.what emulator and files did you use and where you downloaded it from, thanks
Hey guys, I have robert's emulators on my nexus player , but I'm getting bad scrolling, more so on the nes and snes, not so bad on the sega side of things. The sound hick-ups randomly on the nes emulator, is anyone else having this? I didn't have this problem with the ouya which is less powered? Just wondering is it a Marsh mellow problem etc?
