[Q] SM-N910C custom recovery doesn't work - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have SM-N910C, stock rom, just rooted, installed modified TW (5x6).
I rooted and installed TWRP 2.8.3.0.
I installed Xposed framework + Wanam and make some modifications + I added module for enabling XSecureStorage.
Today I tried to install Perseus Kernel and after install, there's not been any updates (when booting up system, there are usually "running updates e.g. 1....180 from 180".
Then in system settings in about column, there is perseus listed, but Im missing the app related to tweaks.
So I tried to isntall TWRP 2.8.4.0 from recovery, installation succesful, but after recovery reboot, there is still 2.8.3.0.
Same story is for Philz Touch recovery, if I install whatvere from recovery, it says it is installed, but really it is not!
Only if I install it via odin.
Can you please help me somehow?

[Q] Installing Google Play edition, Need help.

Hi,
i wanted stock android on my s4 and downloaded cm11 and installed using the easy installer thing. Cm11 was not as great as i thought and was looking at the GPE rom.
I have the zip file downloaded for the GPE , just wondering to complete
do i need odin and if so what v?
do i need root?
Do i need CWM?
Im new to downloading and installing roms but i am a quick learner
Thanks
Every time you want to flash a custom rom you will require root and a custom recover (Like CWM, TWRP or PhilZ).
There are a few cases where you need Odin to flash the rom. But for the GPE rom you will need just a custom recovery and root.
Considering you have already installed a custom rom (although with the cyanogenmod installer) you should be rooted and maybe have a custom recovery.
Here is a root guide just in case.
But if you have an app like SuperSU, then you're rooted.
Then you still need a recovery. I don't know if the CM installer flashes one.
I myself use TWRP recovery. Because CWM just didn't work.
Used Nandroid manager (from google play) to flash TWRP because everything else failed.
If you don't have a custom recovery, then you can flash TWRP. I haven't tested the other recoveries on this device.
Go here and download the latest .img file.
Then you will use Nandroid manager to flash that img file. Then select "reboot into recovery".
Now you should have TWRP flashed. In case Nandroid says that you need to download busybox from google play, do that and install it. But CM should have busybox installed already.
Now put the rom zip on the external or internal storage. Boot into recovery, go to the Wipe tab and do a factory reset.
Then go to Install and select the zips you want to flash. This is how you basically flash a rom.
Some roms may require you to do some other stuff. So make sure you check the rom flash instructions.
nandroid is saying ,the file .... can not be flashed by this app , i checked if i was rooted by downloading a root checker and it said yes... what am i doing wrong?
nevermind, i used CWM instead and worked perfectly, couldnt have done it without you!!! Thanks
CWM didn't work for me.
But if it works for you, I guess it's alright

[Q]trouble installing custom recovery

hello everyone.......i have trouble installing custom recovery on my SM-G900H stock lollipop ..i tried cwm and philz... both of them installed succesfully and exactly took 2.02 minutes ......and when i rebooted to recovery i get a dead android with msg stating invalid command and it shows stock recovery ...........can anyone please help me out with this problem ?
Are you letting Odin reboot into recovery through auto reboot? If so then that's the problem. You need to uncheck auto-reboot and pull the battery after it finishes flashing and boot into recovery manually.
An alternative to the above is to root with CF -Auto root, then use "TWRP Manager" from Google Play to flash TWRP recovery
Or if already rooted, just grab the app

Soft-Bricked S5 running FreedomRom trying to install Xposed

Just tried to flash Xposed on here using the Samsung-based one from Arter. Now that phone doesn't allow me to boot past the flashing android logo. Should I flash the uninstaller via recovery ("update via SD card"), or completely wipe the ROM, go back to NCG(I think), and then reflash it? I'm kinda at a lost at home I should handle this. I've heard that I shouldn't flash anything via the stock recovery on FlashFire-based roms.
You can't flash anything via the stock recovery. I recommend using Safestrap--read about it.
To make sure everything works completely on any firmware, I recommend doing the following:
Flash this with odin, boot the phone and go through the setup wizard:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347794178
Then, reboot to download mode again and flash this:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347776876
After it boots, root it with towelroot, install busybox, then install safestrap. There are directions posted already for this.
Look for jrkruse's "rooting tools for sdcard" zip and install it after you reboot into safestrap. Then you can wipe and install your rom and the firmware and never have to use odin again. You reinstall that zip after installing the ROM to get the apps for using safestrap without odin, also.

S7 Edge Bootloop After Xposed Install

I made a mistake when installing xposed on my G935F and am now stuck in a bootloop.
I downloaded the xposed uninstaller to undo my install and fix my mistake, but I'm unable to boot into recovery.
Do I have to reflash it via odin?
Note: I downloaded the sdk 23 arm64 version, but I didn't wipe data like the guide said to do (didn't see that guide until after I flashed, I was following another guide).
Thanks.
Why are you unable to boot into recovery? And not wiping data would not prevent the phone booting as long as you installed the correct Xposed framework. Did you install Wanam's arm64 version here or the official one? If you installed the official version in rovo89's thread then that is why you're getting a boot loop. Unless things have changed, that doesn't work on Touchwiz roms and causes bootloops, hence why Wanam made a separate version.

I used the official one version.
I have no idea, but I tried the recovery boot sequence so many times and I can't get it to boot into recovery. What should I do?
Reset your phone (volume down & power for 7-10 seconds) then remove your fingers and press volume up & home & power to boot into recovery. If you have TWRP installed (and I assume you do unless you used Flashfire to flash Xposed) there is no reason it shouldn't work. Installing Xposed, even if you used the incorrect version, would have absolutely no effect on the recovery partition.

That still doesn't work for me.
I used flashfire the first time and it didn't work (some guide on xda said to use it). It booted fine after that. I then reverted back to flashify and booted into twrp to flash it, and after that it just sat on the S7 edge boot screen endlessly.
I kept trying and managed to boot into recovery. I flashed the xposed uninstaller and its now running again. Thanks for the help!

note 3 (sm-n9005) stuck on boot after install MagMa NX - Release UX9.7

hi everybody, i'm telling you what i've done
first of all, that was my first time flashing my note 3.
1. i rooted my phone using CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5 via ODIN
2. i disabled knox using superSU
3. i install twrp version 3.1.1.0 via officiale twrp (playstore) app
4. i boot my device in recovery mode, i done a factory reset and also wipe cache, dalvik cache, system and data
5. when i select to install magma-nx 9.7 and everytime at the point of aroma install the device reboot,
i solved this problem by installing the twrp 2.8.7.0
6. i boot in recovery mode but this time with twrp 2.8.7.0 and was able to run the costum rom
7. when the installation finished the phone reboot but now is stuck
in the top left screen there is an alert "Set Warranty Bit : kernel"
so now i'm asking you how to solve the issue?
(sorry for bad english)
Install Phantom Kernel using TWRP:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga.../kernel-phantom-kernel-android-6-0-1-t3534297
http://ghost.com.ro/phantom-kernel/download/
Full wipe from TWRP and install MagMa again, but in Aroma select "Do Not install Kernel (Kernel Preinstalled)". Installing Kernel from Aroma blocks phone at startup.
Make sure u choosed the kernal that is convenient to your phone model
