I have tried 4 or 5 bluetooth headsets for GrooveIP / Skype / Vonage voice calls over wifi and I get horrible sounds that I could only describe as what you would expect if the call was connected through loosely connected high voltage line. It isn't just a minor background sound. It is extremely loud and this "sparky" sound overwhelms any other sound.
The headsets are what I have accumulated over the last 5 or 6 years and none of them are all that new. A Motorola S705 Soundpilot is perhaps the newest I have and listening to music is clean and sounds great for a BT connected headset. I believe I can record and playback through the Motorola Soundpilot using a voice recorder app and that appears to work without the "sparky" condition. All the headsets work just fine on our cell phones.
So do I have a something wrong with BT on the Nexus 7 or is there something about newer BT profiles that are required.
No one has any experience with bluetooth headsets for voice calls?? Any one using a BT headset for voice calls that works well?

I tried the nexxus nano I think it was called just assuming anything would work. Same problem. Groove IP is the only thing that works at all ... and then with the screeching.
So I wrote to Google. They refuse to tell me what will work. They just quoted Bluetooth 3 and profiles e.g. HFP 1.5.
So I spent money on a Plantronics M20. Again - Groove IP is the only thing that works (I mean mic & earpiece at same time) - but unusable because of the screeching. So a waste of money. Thanks Google for zero help and lowering my bank balance.
On other threads people mention they bluetooth calls working - but when they quote the model of their bluetooth headsets they seem to be ones that are no longer available and/or very expensive. And there's not a sufficient narrative there to convince me they actually work in all particulars.
Thanks so much. I called Google support today and got nothing and I was just about unroot and restore my Nexus to factory to test. I will carry a headset and test anywhere I find a Nexus on display. It may be one of those problems that not every tablet experiences. Thanks again.
Hey bro mine is working good with groove ip and a Motorola 710 and 720 BT head set I know they are a little older I also had a few issues at first but I kept playing with the settings and got it working great oh also try changing your WiFi channels I had to change mine to channel 6 that seem to help me I also use Google voice I hope that this helps and GOD BLESS YOU

Hey - thanks. I might be able to get a used Motorola H710 for about £40 from ebay (UK). Of course - it would be outside what Google specify as being supported but hey ho. Do you think you might be so kinds as to put together a quick tutorial (with all relevant settings-screenshots)? I've been playing "in the dark" with this stuff for so long now ... and my frustration has grown so great ... I'm almost "drunk" or I suppose "stupefied" on confusion and dismay and could do with a firm helping hand. Thank you.
i have the same problem. the screeching is unbearable. i have tried the samsung 1200 which was totally disappointing.. returned it today and got the plantronics m20 ( cant afford much even $25 was stretching my budget ) same result although this time i could hear my self really well for the first minute ( on the phone i called ) i could also hear it on the m20 but it was pretty low even turned all the way up then it just started to go bonkers again... i was beginning to think it was maybe because i installed that beats audio app or something but alas i have no answer for this condition. its very disappointing to say the least i cannot use a BT headset as i cant really make calls with the N7 in its case/stand :/ i am still praying there will be a fix or work around ? i know this can work but will it ? thanks
Hi all
Sorry if there is another thread with this already but I am at the end of my tether!
I have a Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2 and am having problems when paired to my Merc B200 with Audio 20.
I believe this may be a common problem but I just need confirmation from someone in the know.
ISSUE:
I can pair with the head unit no problems, but when I make and receive calls, there is no audio. Apparently the other end can hear me, but I am unable to hear them.
Audio is on max, both on the phone and the audio 20.
Any ideas? Is this a software issue?
I did contact Samsung, who obviously told me that this was down to the car manufacturer and MB told me to buy an older phone (great advice!).
My wifes Iphone 5 works flawlessly, as did my Iphone 4s.
MB seem to be under the impression that a car firmware update will no resolve the problem and basically I am scuppered. Surely bluetooth should be backwards compatible!!!
Cheers
Andy
I got a blackberry to work with a mb car kit a while ago, not sure of the symptoms the user was seeing but he was pairing from the phone to the kit. I tried pairing the phone from the car kit and it then started to work flawlessly.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk (how ironic is that eh)
might be a similar issue
Not sure if it's the same thing but I'm at a loss as to what to do. I bought the Jaybird SB2 bluetooth headset. I've read elsewhere others have had issues connecting to Mac's (I have the same connection problem with my Macs) but they worked fine with my old Galaxy S2 (when it had pre-jelly bean rom). As soon as I upgraded the sounds cuts out after a couple of minutes although the player says the music is playing. I can get it to work again for another couple of minutes by disconnecting then reconnecting the bluetooth. I then flashed a custom JB rom (supernexus I think) on the old S2 and everything worked perfectly. I've just got my stock S4 and the same problem with the bluetooth keeps happening.
I can only think it's a software problem since the headphones work perfectly with my Nexus 7 and my old S2 with this custom rom but I can't find anything online elsewhere recording the problem. Not really sure where to turn for help since I doubt Samsung will care.
Unsure if 100% related, but I've had some issues with BT on my Subaru Outback ('13).
When I am (simultaneously):
1) Charging
2) Connected to my car stereo via Bluetooth
3) Playing music (using default GS4 music widget)
4) Navigating w/ Google Navigation
The Google Navigation voice cuts out half way through giving the direction.
"In 250 feet, turn right onto" ... ... ... ... nothing
It's really horrible, especially because this is the PRIMARY use for my phone (car audio & nav).
Update:
Winamp doesn't interrupt nav, but I lose BT controls on steering wheel.
AVia doesn't either and keeps BT control functionality.
All music players I've tried, however, just seem to crash at random...
They either stop altogether or think the music is still playing but no audio is on.
All of this is resolved by using Aux instead of BT.
This is what leads me to believe it is BT related.
Anyone with experience or help here, that'd be awesome...
I've had a breakthrough with mine
I installed an app called 'Soundabout' from the playstore that reroutes any audio to a BT device, this did the trick, I now have audio both when making and receiving calls.
It also works for a2dp streaming issues.
The odd thing is though, I deleted the app afterwards just on the off chance that it fixed anything in the background.... And it did! My BT audio is now working seamlessly without the app!
I am currently running a flashed stock rom (XXUAME2).
Hope this helps others

Hi,
I have the same issue.
I have just got my new Galaxy S4, everything is working fine except the Bluetooth. I am having trouble to use the Bluetooth on my 2011 Toyota Car corolla. I am able to connect to the Bluetooth, and play music but problem with starting to make a call. when I say "starting to make a call" means I can make a call, but the receiver can't hear me and I can't hear them neither. I was able to answer the call or hang up, everything is working fine except no voice come out from the speakers.
The funny is it will work if I use Apps to make a call, such as Skype, viber.
I can't find any solution so far.

4ndynic you're a legend! My wife got an S4 and it didn't want to work properly with our Mercedes with the native bluetooth. I installed Soundabout (non Pro version), went into Bluetooth Behavior, turned on (Dynamic) Media Audio Usage, and now it works perfectly!! I especially love the fact that the alerts for SMS etc still come through the phone.

It appears that the setting may revert if you turn bluetooth off and back on again. After doing that, I had to go back into soundabout and untick then retick that box. Can anyone else confirm this behaviour? It certainly appears to be a default setting in the operating system causing the issue, which means it may be possible to fix with a patch, and Samsung should certainly be able to fix it in a future update.

I thought Mercedes would contact the SoundAbout email address about getting that to work, but alas....I've gotten no email yet.
it might be your rom version, tried it here with 4.2 and 4.3 and works without any issues and no need to install additional software.
good morning to everybody.
I've searched in the site before posting, but it seems that nobody has reported this bug.
I've bought yesterday a Z1C, and I've paired with my Mercedes Audio 20 Bluetooth.
They paired perfectly, and both Audio Bluetooth and handsfree calls work.
But every 1-2 minutes they disconnect and after 30 seconds they reconnect with no reasons.
Before I had an iPhone 5 and everything worked well.
I've tried to connect z1c to another bluetooth device (a portable bluetooth speaker) and there's no problem.
Do you have any ideas to resolve it? I use the car a lot because of my work, and it's very uncomfortable (and unsafe) using telephone normally.
Thank you very much to everybody.
Ema
Sure! Z1 is compatible, and they have (I think) the same.hardware... They don't know the compatibility with z1c just because it's new.
But as I said there's no problem of pairing the devices... It's just that they loose the connection every minute.
Upgrade bluetooth firmware of you Car to resolve the problem.

Mercedes, BMW, FORD and so on, if they don't update old firmware then you maybe have problems with new phones.

Good! Today I send another e/mail to Mercedes dealer...
I'll let you know.
make a test, disconnect only audio Bluetooth on your phone to see what happens.
Done!
In bluetooth option of the phone, I've two profile related to my headset: TELEPHONE AUDIO and MULTIMEDIA AUDIO.
I switched off multimedia profile (A2DP), but every minute it disconnects and reconnect soon after.
Same situation.
Another test, decline all requests from the radio to access Contacts, messages etc

With this procedure, first time music stopped before activating also phone; second time, 10 seconds and disconnect phone (1) and music (2).
Few seconds and they both reconnect.

Yeah, I checked that post and I'm "ema3" there.
It's very similar to my case, but nobody of sony support replies.... It seems that it happened also with other car handsfree brands.... I start to think that it's not a problem of mercedes firmware.
I tried to update the firmware of z1c using SUS and the other one (I don't remember the name) but no update is reported.
I need to flash using the link given by war1 later.

Driving 2015 Camaro and all my phones stream Google music or internal phone music fine but with the nexus 6p I am having tons of skipping that is not usable. Can't get through one song without multiple skips. Could this be a marshmallow issue? Tried to unpair, re pair phone and car with deleting nexus 6p from car and phone but no luck. Rebooted phone and paired from scratch but issue persists. Please advise or it is going back. I have long commute to and from work and must be able to stream from phone.

Software/bluetooth stack issue.
I haven't been able to stream from media via bluetooth on my LG G3, ever..... Seems that with Lollipop and before some things were broken in the stack and have not been fixed. It even happens on my Galaxy Tab Pro running CM11.
My lg g3 att version on lollipop streams perfect in Camaro and all previous phones. It's just the 6p not streaming correctly. Is this something we can report to Google to have them look into it. Gonna try on my sisters 2015 sentra and report back.

No issues on my BT in my Elantra. Different car obviously but it's not universal. I don't use the phone portion just stream music though.

G'day mate, I have exactly the same issue. It's not a marshmallow issue as my n6 worked perfectly. I have a 2014 Holden commodore ss-v (same as Chevy ss sports sedan) which also uses the mylink system. So to me it sounds like there is some kind of issue with the mylink bt? Bt works fine in the wife's Nissan xtrail.
Can you please let me know if the dealer has any suggestions? Maybe they have a software update for it that will fix it?

Surely hope it's a software-solvable issue. Altough, with all antennas behind an alluminum back with only a visor to concentrate all "input/output", I'd say lots of stationeries (reflection) are occurring in that phone.
Noticed a few skips today over bluetooth in my car. Didn't happen at all yesterday though.
