Does Towelroot.com still work to root S5 ? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
im trying to help someone root his S5 the easiest way possible as i cant get to him and he's not too computer savvy. Some sort of 1 click method would be great as i can talk him through it.
Does anyone know if towelroot.com still works for it? Or is there something similar
UK version if that matters
thanks in advance

Hi,
towelroot works fine, but you need a stock 4.4.2 and install the boot NE2 (To Odine) have to get to the root...
it keeps knox to 0X0.

Clarification on rooting and knox

OK so I have looked everywhere to find out which method is ok to run on the vz version of the note 3 running MJE. I think I find my answer and then people start talking about a different model of the note 3. So I figured the best way to find out is just ask.
How do I root without tripping the knox security? I'd like the option to flash my own roms, but have been able to figure out on my own that flashing a custom recovery will trip xnox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now Kingo can be used to root mje build without tripping Knox. I have heard some guys having success with older versions of Kingo.
The only recovery available is safestrap. Since our bootloader is locked down. Safestrap and flashing roms for safestrap will not trip knox either.
Also heard guys using Vroot to root mje.

This is what I had assumed from what I read I just wanted to hear it for sure, directly for our device. Thanks a ton!!

Actually thanks for this thread, I was wondering the same thing. If I could add to it, is it possible to unroot and go back to complete stock if need be?
There are instructions on how to unroot back to stock but like everything else can't conform it is for this model. Thank you vz and Samsung for making crap difficult!

Yeppers! Flashing the stock image with odin will wipe all traces of root and safestrap, and return your phone to normal.

If I have to unlock it first, how tf would I do that? Is Knox a problem (I don't know if I have it and I don't know how to check)? Once that is done what is the safest way to root my s4? Any help would be appreciated. My s4 is running 4.4.2 btw in case the helps with the Knox thing.
Oh and where do I go on XDA for this model?

No unlocked bootloader needed for this guide? I'm worried because the CF Auto Root website has the info in the images attatched. How do I found out if I have the Knox thing? And, still the same question, how to I unlock the bootloader?

You might try here, http://www.xda-developers.com/root/ Just make sure you know where to find and how to use the stock firmware before trying root methods.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
1) KingRoot
2) Super-Sume Pro if you want to replace KingRoot with SuperUser.
