I got a verizon S4 running GPE 5.0.1 rom by Danvdh. So i live in new york city and use the subway station everyday. So this issue i have is peculiar so when i am listening to music on my phone inside the train my music stutters before entering station and after leaving a station. It's so weird. I noticed that it happens because of my cellular network connecting and disconnecting as i pass stations on the train. And when i connect or disconnect from my network the music would stutter.
And this doesnt happen on my home.
Any help with this? Only happens with this ROM. And i can't post on the rom thread, it says i need 10 posts. :c
It's the subway station. Your phone is losing signal underground, that's all.
Play music stored locally when you're using the subway is pretty much all you can do. It's not a phone problem.
You could try a different baseband, but it might not make any difference.
Edit: or are you saying it is music that is stored on your phone which is doing this?

I am playing preloaded music from my sd card not streaming anything.
you might wanna check your music player's settings to use wakelocks or increase its audio playback priority

For whatever reason, when I use my Bluetooth headset for audio while watching a video, it causes the video to stutter. It's watchable, but really annoying. The same videos have no issues on wired headphones or the external speakers. Anybody else having this problem? If not, any guesses on fixing it? I have a 3g Xoom on stock 3.1.
Finally, someone else acknowledging this problem. I started a similar thread a while back and it went nowhere - only solution suggested to me was to try overclocking - so I went ahead and installed Tiamat Kernel and overclocked - and no change - still got stuttering video when using bluetooth.
This problem really drove me crazy at first. Spent ages re-encoding my videos thinking it was a problem with the video itself. Then one day I forgot to charge my BT headphones, and was forced to use wired headphones and the video played perfectly. Thats when I realized what the problem was. Since then I have only been using wired headphones to watch movies and have been using my BT headphones only for video podcasts where I don't care about slowdown. Wish there was a solution. I really miss my wireless headphones for movies.
Anyway its nice to see someone else has made the same observation. I was really perplexed that no one else seemed to be bothered by this problem.
Bummer! I was hoping my problem was an isolated one that could be fixed with a reset or something. Guess I'll just start carrying ear buds around and save the headset for music.... Thanks for the reply!
I have a similar issue that I posted in the Q&A section but no real replies. For example when I turn on bluetooth to stream my music to a bluetooth receiver, I cannot surf the web at the same time because it's really slow to load pages. Once I turn off bluetooth, the wifi works at full speed.
It's pretty bad to the point where the page that I am trying to load actually times out. I thought it was my Xoom that was an issue but apparently not. It's impossible to use something like Audiogalaxy to stream music from my computer and transmit it using bluetooth. The constant fighting for wireless/bluetooth signal creates pauses and gaps. I'm thinking the same is happening to your video. Can any one confirm that this happens with another brand tablet? I have until June 13th to return this to Amazon. I already pre ordered the Galaxy 10.1 but would rather keep the Xoom with the expansion slots and usb port if I can.

I can confirm that this BT - video slowdown doesn't happen with my Galaxy Tab 7 which is a single core running android 2.2. So it makes no sense that using BT should demand so many resources that it brings a dual-core HC tablet to a crawl.
Correct. Do you mind streaming music from your Xoom to your headphones and go to a sight like Engadget to see if it is able to load the entire page?

I haven't ever really watched a video with bt headphones, but I use them all every day when listening to music on my Galaxy S and I can say that I get really ****ty network performance for web browsing, and that my phone is noticeably slower while I'm using the bt headphones. This has been the case on two different 2.2 roms and on 2.3.3.
I haven't tried these headphones on the xoom so I can't say there, but at least it's not the only device with BT issues.
I'm still having this problem...anyone else?
I'm having the same problem. Get random pauses and freezing. Guess I'm switching back to wired headphones.
Hmmm...I haven't noticed this issue. I watched Thor in 720p using the HDMI output to my TV and my bluetooth headphones the other night...no freezing or stuttering.
The problem is that BT and WiFi both use the same frequency band, and as such the WiFi/BT chip has to switch control of the (same) antenna between both halves of the chip. Now, BT audio (A2DP) is a stream, so when the WiFi/BT chip has to snatch away the antenna for WiFi (even if you're not actively using it, there's periodic stuff like beacon frames and background data, etc.) the stream gets interrupted from time-to-time, and because the audio system- which gates the playback of video streams- gets "bunched up" with data that couldn't be sent while the antenna's switched to WiFi, sometimes you get these pauses.
It's not really a CPU or processing-power issue.
When I watch movies on the plane thru BT headphones (and WiFi is off), I never get any stutters. I suspect if you turn off WiFi it'll smooth it out.

I don't listen to music via Bluetooth, but my device is sending the signal, evidently. I've tried to find a way to keep Google Music from automatically doing this when Bluetooth connects, but cannot find anything. Any ideas?

I'm looking for a way to make mine do what yours is doing. I'm on a Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2.2 and just want my music to start automatically when I get into my car instead of having to unlock phone, fire up google music, and hit shuffle all every time I get in. There are a couple apps that will launch Play Music but the music doesn't start playing. I need to try hitting NEXT on my car stereo and see if it makes it start playing.
I used to get ambushed with music automatically starting a couple of phones ago so I wound up using Tasker to simulate media button presses.
That sorted it for me and may be worth a try for both of you.
I think it's dependent upon your car. I've got Ford with Sync and buried somewhere in the menus is a bluetooth "autoplay" option - try disabling that (or enabling... depending on what you're looking for, of course)
My N4 does this in my Mazda 3. I absolutely HATE it. Any luck on a solution?

This is not true. I have this happen with my Nexus 4 on stock 4.3 in THREE separate cars.
Is there seriously no solution to this? Does anybody even have any idea what causes this problem?
For me, its Fusion music player. But if I uninstall that, then it defaults to Google Music.
So I've been using all access and it's cool but I also listen to podcasts on my phone. When my phone connects to bluetooth on my car it'll usually start playing whatever I've been last listening too but I'd like an option to switch to the other media player (google play music <-> beyondpod) if I find that the phone is playing the wrong content. Is there an easy way to get this done? There doesn't seem to be a straight forward way through nfc task launcher and I'm totally inexperienced with tasker. Any ideas guys?
I have my N3 connected to my 2009 Ford Edge via bluetooth. It connects quickly every time. The phone has 911 assist almost immediately.
The same can be said for media. Bluetooth connection to enable media playback always connects.
I have two bluetooth media related issues that revolve around autostart of media player when I get in the car...
1. Default app to play media. No matter what I'm playing when I leave the car (it could be BeyondPod, Pandora, Play Music, etc.) the app that starts automatically playing when I get back into the car is ALWAYS BeyondPod, my podcast player. For some reason it has become the pseudo default media app when connected via bluetooth. If I was playing Pandora I know that when I get back in the car I'll have to go into my phone, stop BeyondPod and then to into Pandora and hit play. I would very much like it if there was a way, or a setting, that tells the autoplay feature to use the app that was playing when I left the car. I don't want a default player, just the player that was being used when I left the car.
2. When I get in the car sometimes it will start playing and sometimes it won't start playing. It connects properly, it just doesn't play anything. I can be away from my car for a week for vacation and the next time I get back in the car it starts immediately playing where I left off. Other times I can go into the grocery store, come back out 5 minutes later and it doesn't start playing, I have to pull the phone out and press start on whatever media player I'm using. It's not consistent and I can never predict when it will automatically start playing. I've tried to see a pattern of when it will automatically start but I just can't figure it out. Seems totally random. If I had to guess I'd say that it autostarts about 75% of the time. The other 25% is a mystery.
Not sure if it would help at all, but I used this app to dial in my Bluetooth profile.

Thanks. I looked at that app but it's more for troublesome connections. I connect quickly every time. Bluetooth connectivity is not an issue. It's what happens after connection that's an issue.
I've used apps such as Tasker and Trigger to start an app such as Pandora or Play Music. The problem with solution is it presumes that I want a specific one of those to start. I don't. I want what was playing when I got out of the car to start. I've also used Tasker to pop up a menu letting me make a selection. That works but it means I have to take the phone out of my pocket, something that's not easy to do once I'm buckled in.

Check to see if the app is scheduled to start on headphone or Bluetooth connection. If so uncheck those. It's under player settings.

I have a 2013 Mini Cooper S Roadster with Mini Connected that will not display track, song, etc. info while playing Pandora and I'm trying to figure out what the snag is.
I initially thought that it must be the Note 3 because it was just showing "Unknown," however despite a wipe, the issue remained. I then ended up trying Google Play Music and to my surprise it worked great, other than the fact that it uses too much data So I'm back to Pandora. It's worth mentioning that my wife's S4, and my old iPhone all worked just fine.
Out of curiosity, I've tried several other audio sources and each and every one of them has displayed the information without any trouble at all. If I start up Pandora, the last song info sent from the other app will remain and not change. If the phone is disconnected and reconnected it will display "Unknown" again until I start up another audio player.
So that's the stumper for me. Everything works great except Pandora. The car features for audio, video, text, email, and contacts all work perfectly, with the only exception being Pandora.
I've seen some various posts where people are using hacked/modded Pandora Apps, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I could try. I don't think it matters, but I am paying for Pandora One.
