A common complaint from people adopting Android Wear is the quick, single vibration for notifications. I'm one of those people that can't miss important notifications and am willing to be pestered until I acknowledge them.
There are a few good Android apps for making the phone do repeating notifications. One I've recently come across is actually called Repeating Notifications https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.intoorbit.renotify&hl=en
It is elegantly simple and incredibly close to what I think we need but unfortunately, the developer created it pretty much for his own needs and doesn't see himself getting an Android Wear device.
eNotify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hermes.enotify&hl=en is also pretty close but it has SO many confusing functions it's hard to find one's way around and it only works for SMS and Email (I'm actually only using the SMS part).
In my opinion the perfect app for Android Wear would just sit quietly in the background on the watch or on the phone and monitor the watch for existing notifications and if it saw any it would periodically vibrate until acknowledged.
Additional enhancements would include:
The ability to set which notifications would/would not get repeated (i.e. I don't need repeating notifications for Google Now cards, but I'd want them for SMS, MMS, Missed Calls, Voicemail and some other apps.
The ability to set how frequently, for how long and what vibration pattern would be used.
The ability to set frequency, duration, and pattern on an app by app basis.
I am not a Dev so I don't know if there are technical limitations that would make it impossible but have funded/managed a few dev projects. I would certainly pay regular play store prices for an app that would do that and would even consider funding development to get it going.
Anybody Else?
Any Devs out there that could speak to the feasibility/obstacles?
Any Devs out there that want to give it a shot?

As discussed with you, this will all be coming to the next release of lightflow. I'm working on it today and making good progress.
@andrewpmoore has been reporting great progress with additional implementation for wear in Light Flow. I'm excited to see what he releases.
In the mean time, I've stumbled across Vibration Notifier. It doesn't have any LED controls but can push repeating notifications to the watch.

I know this is a very old thread but vibration notifier no longer is a wear os app. Any new solutions?

Thanks to everyone who helped me out in my (now closed) "Any former iPhone users using a Nexus 4?" thread.
First, my impressions:
I am very, very lucky to have my Nexus 4 right now. I ordered it on Friday, December 7th and received it on Monday, December 10th. I had watched a lot of YouTube videos about the phone up until that point, but nothing really prepared me for how great this phone actually felt in my hand. I work for a major cell phone retailer, so I've felt all of the latest flagship phones from the top 4 carriers and nothing before has rivaled my in-hand experience with the iPhone. The Nexus 4 actually feels better. I love it.
The screen on this phone is remarkable. Everything is so crisp. In comparison, the Nexus 4 screen seems to outshine my iPhone 4s screen. It all seems to look like a movie to me. So fluid and well put together. I actually watched the Man of Steel trailer on both of my devices and it just felt and looked so much better on my Nexus 4.
So far, everything leads me to the Nexus 4 as my new primary phone, however it isn't without flaw to me. It's not necessarily the Nexus 4, more so the developers of certain applications for Android. I am a huge Twitter and Instagram user. I don't like using third-party applications for either. (i.e. TweetDeck, Plume, etc.) Both apps are so much better on my iOS device. There are certain things that make my experience in both apps enjoyable on my iPhone and frustrating on my Android. I'm not sure why the Android counterparts are missing some of the features that are key to my iOS experience, but it really bothers me. I won't say which features because I don't want to seem nitpicky and be dismissed as an "apple fanboy."
Now my questions:
1. How do I select which artist I want to be seen in the Google Music app on my phone? I realize that it is cloud based, but geez, I don't listen to Bow Wow or care to have him cluttering up my phone music app. I am lightweight OCD about the organization of my music. I don't mind being exposed to new things, but these artists are far from what I listen to. Is there anyway I can get rid of them?
2. Can I select a contact to use as my "me" profile on the Nexus? I've used the same contact for years on my iOS device. It has all of my business information, my email addresses, twitter accounts, and much more. I use it as a business card of sorts when I am out of them. Is there any way I can use that as "me" in my contacts now? The contact is still there, but it's asking me to create a profile. Can I somehow merge it?
3. How do I make my phone notify me of new tweets and other things that are happening in my phone other than an icon in the menu bar? I have yet to see my notification light flash and the only way that I know there is something new happening in my phone is to actually turn it on to see. My screen doesn't light up, there is no vibration, no light show or anything. I can't seem to figure out how to enable those notifications. They are VERY important to me. My clients often me via twitter and so do my friends.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. I know that I can be (more than) a bit longwinded. I really appreciate this community.

Use Light Flow from the Play Store. You can configure not only the notification LED on the front of the phone but things like the pattern of vibration, the sound that is played for a notification, whether/how long/how often it repeats, etc. You can set all of those differently for each app's notifications. Very handy (and the author hangs out in the "Themes and Apps" sub-forum here).

Thank you!
I'm going to mess around with this today when I get a little down time. I already see that I will have the purchase the app because some of my main things are only supported in the full version. Doesn't bother me none. LOL, there are like 2 free apps in iOS. And there it is already, a notification light. Ah, I'm relieved.
(This beats having my camera flash go off when things happen in my phone!)
I don't know about ideal but I have my own personal requirements.
1. Notifications for Text messages, Phone Calls and Emails. I don't use Facebook or Twitter anymore but I do understand lots of people still do so those would be important as well.
2. Ability to dismiss incoming calls or answer. I hate those bluetooth headsets so talking directly into the watch would be better for ME. Don't know how well that would work but if the call is important enough or private than have the ability to swap over to just the phone.
3. The screen is so small games really won't matter to me but the ability to go to Playstore and download various Apps would be ideal. Don't really know what I would really need on my watch as any Apps I use regularly I would rather see on my 5" screen.
4. Calendar with Notifications would be great as I could set dates and times on my phone and be alerted thru the watch.
5. Not much else is really required besides changing watch faces to different designs and the occasional trip to the internet on the fly with readable screens. Sometimes I need to google something and it would be great to be able to do this at random.
Currently I am looking at the SmartQ Z Watch and the ZGPAX S5 Smartwatch
I have had this watch for 2 days, comments as below:-
1. This works perfectly.
2. I haven't figured out how you can talk directly into the watch. I do not think this is possible yet although you can plug in a headset and has a built in microphone. With the updates coming in weekly I assume this might be possible through an update.
3. Playstore is not pre-installed. Anyways I do not think most of the apps would work in Playstore since they are not tailored for the screen size.
4. No problem with this either.
5. No inbuilt web browser but I assume you can install one, some of the custom roms has this I have read.

I have ZGPAX - they haven't released software for the notifications and call handling options, like the Galaxy Gear has... but it's a great device for sure!

I have zgpax.
Mine came with playstore preinstalled. Can run most ICS compatible applications, oddly though launchers ie Nova Launcher do not work. There is no home button anyway. Switching between programs involves using the back button a lot and switching from the home screen/watch launcher. ADW launcher works but every time the phone is turned on the clock launcher starts instead. Don't know how to switch default.
Google calendar is preinstalled.
I use MySMS to mirror text messages from my main phone, and use a prepaid sim with cheap data just for notifications, ie gmail, ebay.
Do not get SmartQ Z watch if running apps is important to you. It runs a MIPS cpu instead of an ARM cpu, and most apps will not run on MIPS by default.
ZGPAX is not rooted by default but can be very easily.
No volume buttons, volume is best controlled by quick volume profiles from notification tray. Four profiles are set by default, general, silent, meeting (vibrate mode), and outdoor (loud mode).
Only buttons are power and back. Menu button is soft button in notification tray next to clock.
Wifi reception has been excellent for something of this size, though understandably a little slowish.

Actually on the smartq z watch most apps excluding a lot of games work just fine without MIP compatibility or MIPS conversion . some have screen issues but that problem lies with any smartwatch .

Am I the only one thinking this multiple notifications should be ours to enjoy first: http://www.droid-life.com/2014/03/12/moto-x-feature-request-dear-motorola-please-copy-acdisplays-handling-of-multiple-notifications/
I like it

Yeah just watch that video, I don't understand why Motorola have implement this on active display.. Wish they could in later updates
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
IMO, the way multiple notifications are handled in the video isn't much of an improvement over what we have now. I'd much rather be able to select any displayed notification and act on it, without having to clear several other notifications first. The way it's shown in the video is like going through non-visual voicemail - a FIFO or LIFO approach - whereas being able to act on notifications in ANY order would be like most modern visual voicemail implementations.
I would like it, but not at the price of battery life.
Its just damm hard for me to leave one notification aside in order to wait for another.
I think its just waist of commands. I don't know how you guys handle your notifications but for me is useless multiple notifications on Active Display.
I like this feature. Wish not too many bugs.
Hi all,
I don't know what Google and especially Samsung were smoking when releasing Android Lollipop, but the new "interruptions" were really a bad idea IMHO.
If Samsung had just copied what Google did there, it would be still ok, but Samsung removed the schedule option in the interruptions menu! Why Samsung, why? I just want to disable all notification between 10pm and 7am, but still be able to receive calls and let my alarm get off at 6:30am.
I understand that what I want can be configured with priority interruptions and it looks like it's working like intended except the scheduling part which was completely removed by Samsung. So now I have to turn priority interruptions on and off manually and if I forget it, some incoming spam mail may wake me in the middle of the night, wtf Samsung!
Is there a way to schedule this switch somehow automatically?

Yes you are completly right ,Samsung decided to cut even more in the new notification strategy on the Note 4 then Google did originally and no it's not possible to schedule like it is in the "complete" Lollipop release
Seems not a very interesting topic based on the amount of replies in this thread - anyway, I found some "solution" which I'd like to share with you
I remembered that I bought Tasker a long time ago out of curiosity, but as this app is pretty complicated (for me), I never really used it. I just gave it another try and I'm happy that it can deal with "interruptions", so it can be configured to set interruptions to priority mode for a certain period of time which is exactly what I want.
As I still don't like this app, do you know of any other similar apps that can deal with interruptions but have a nice and shiny user interface?
Hey guys,
I don't know another place to ask for this.
I have my phone since Nov...
Before I had two iPhones for five years, so I wasn't informed about Android and that there are problems with some manufacturers because they don't want to unlock the bootloader and anything else. My first smartphone was a Galaxy S and at this time it was no problem to get root and install Cyanogen. So I thought it would be the same thing this time. But this is another problem. Just a little introduction about my bad knowledge about Android. Maybe it helps to solve my problems...
I want my phone to notificate me, if it is necessary. For example when I receive a Message(WhatsApp, Telegram, you know these). But most of the time Whatsapp doesn't want to check for new messages for itself. Sometimes I receive the notification instantly. Telegram doesn't inform me most of the time. So I have to open the App to see if there are new messages, but this cannot be the way it's meant.
When I open Telegram, the LED lights up und I get the notification in my notification bar.
In another forum a possible solution was to change the energy saving settings.
So I deactived most of them for Telegram. ->mustn't automatic start is off | planned activation in background is off | deep-sleep-mode is off
Only thing that I allowed is closing the app when I lock my phone. (I hope you understand the translation of the settings.. I can only read the german name for them)
Tapatalk, Wunderlist, FB Messenger(not important, I want to delete it some day), sometimes Youtube a list of the apps where I want to receive notifications but I don't.
Another strange problem has the standard clock widget. I installed Nova Launcher and put the clock widget on the first homescreen. But it updates the time only a few times a day. I didn't find a setting to "activate" the widget, like the energy savings or something similar. Now I have a weather widget at that place and this works. I can see the correct time and weather.
I don't know why this doesn't work properly. I hope that you guys can solve my problem with your big knowledge of Android.
Thanks for reading.
