I'm trying not to clutter up the forum with questions, but I'm not having any luck fixing my issue, so I'm just weighing my options... I've backed up my aboot for my dev edition G900V... because it seems I'm going to have to flash stock firmware/tar in order to see if my LTE hardware is jacked up, since NOTHING I do has restored my access to LTE. I had access when I was on stock rooted NCG, but lost it since I backed up my aboot and flashed NI2 firmware after deleting aboot.mbn from the NI2 firmware. So, my question is, if i flash stock NCG firmware with an NCG based ROM, how to I restore my unlocked bootloader from my original backed up aboot file?
Yes, I'm in over my head, but don't have much of a choice at this point. Thanks for any help!
I believe you can do a factory reset on the Dev Edition
Without fear of locking your bootloader. It should return to it's original factory TW state, with unlocked bootloader, as new. You would obviously lose any personal files/apps not backed up on a card or other device that are not stock. Good luck.
Do a search for backing up the aboot and pm or ask in the thread to the specific users that were dealing with that. You may only have one shot at getting this right...

That's why I'm worried... I actually did PM the OP of that tutorial, but I have yet to hear back from him. I was hoping some other dev might have some insight on how to restore that backup , but no one has replied yet. Thanks for the input though!

I have a sgh-i337, I tried to format my rom and threw everything at it but the kitchen sink but could not get it cleared. Then I looked around and found out about the write protect issue on the bootloader from at&t and verizon. (chattr +i /boot/system.tar.md5) It's not difficult to figure out what they did.
Needless to say I am softbricked right now with all the user data deleted. I did back up in kies but it is asking me for a number I never saw.
Is there a patch for fixing the at&t immutable bit on the bootloader?
Is there a download that will help me launch my phonetop?
We know the bootloader and system files are just fine... :silly:
The boot loader is still locked. The stock kernel and recovery cannot be replaced.
The link to stock firmware is available in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
You can use Odin to flash the stock firmware. You can flash the same or newer version only.
This is a nand that I created with twrp. It is completely stock and unrooted. By restoring this, flashing the stock At&t modem and flashing stock KXE21.187-42 recovery, you will be left with a complete stock unrooted kitkat Moto X XT1095 capable of taking the ota.

1. Place nand in the backups of your twrp recovery
2. Restore with twrp
3. Factory data/reset
4. Flash At&t modem (fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.img)
5. Reboot to fastboot mode
6. Flash stock recovery (fastboot flash recovery recovery_victara_KXE21.187-42.img).
7. Reboot
If you want the OTA.... adb sideload (you can find the OTA file on another thread).
IF you follow the directions as I have laid out, you will have a completely stock, unrooted-fresh install of kitkat. You now should be able to safely take the ota using adb sideload.
This has been tried by myself multiple times successfully. This is only for the XT1095 variant. If you are crazy enough to try it on another variant, please post your results.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. I will try and answer any questions as long as I have the time. Hit "thanks" if this helps.

Yes, it's basically a prerequsite for the ota to flash. If you have no plan on flashing the ota, then you can use the radio of your choice.

fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.img
That's pretty clear to me. Im guessing if you can flash a recovery, you can flash the modem, performed by fastboot.

My pure edition, XT1095 came out of the box with T Mobile baseband / modem. Not sure why the ota would need AT&T (also had no issues sideloading the lollipop update)
I am pretty sure it is only required if you used the multitool which has a different modem included. This modem is not compatible with the 5.0 OTA.

Which modem? The modem I have posted here? If thats what you are talking about you havent any idea what you are talking about.
I have done exactly what ive posted here multiple times. Use any other modem other than this one and the ota will fail.
As far as why people are calling it the att modem confuses me as well.
The multi tool flashes a 55R while this modem flashes 57R.

I started this thread to return your XT1095 to stock unrooted, hence the title.
Since there are no factory images at the moment, I posted what worked for me.
Dont comment if you dont agree, but i assure you this method works just fine.

The modem included in the Multitool as I inferred. If you flashed back to stock or used the image from the multitool you get the invalid modem b00 error. After which you have to use the AT&T modem in order for the OTA to complete successfully.
the radio point is mute since graffixnyc posted the stock pure edition modem on his site. The modem image he posted is a direct backup from his brand new Pure Edition

Correct, the modem I have linked was directly from graffix.
holy cow downloads from Mega are crawling for me. I heard a rumor from a friend of a friend that a certain OTA from an un-said company for an un-said device is going out 'very soon' and I want to be 100% stock before it goes out. Just in case it's for the moto X.
can I ask how you got back to 100% stock? In your previous thread (TWRP Backup of Lollipop) you mentioned that you couldn't do a backup of stock. I guess I just want to know that your stock backup of 4.4.4 isn't an un-rooted 4.4.4. I'm looking for never-been-rooted 4.4.4.
got this to work last night.
working great! sideloaded the ota!
flashed the modem after sideloading the ota.
Official factory image is now available from Motorola! https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
edit: deleted, nevermind

My 4.4.4 was rooted, and I just experimented with all the info that everyone was posting the day the 5.0 went live. I was able to unroot and flash a file that 0.0 had posted in the thread that graffix had started. Anyway long story short between that and experimenting with the recovery and modems I was able to get my 4.4.4 to take the OTA with no problems. Since the OTA checks file structure and recovery, modem, etc....I am assuming it is unrooted stock. The way I look at it, If the OTA will flash with my experiment, so should the actual release. That is just my logic anyway.
Thank you for putting this guide together. Everything worked flawlessly. Thank you.
All i get now is a bootloop. I have tried flashing back to the nk2 firmware via odin but then it kicks me straight to recovery. It isnt the custom recovery though, so i think i may have locked my bootloader. Is there anything to be done from this? I usually can find my way out of this stuff but I feel like a just wrecked my galaxy s5.
You flashed a retail firmware which locked the bootloader. I'm pretty sure you made a $600 paperweight. Sorry I'm not much help.
Did you backup your developer edition aboot?
I have a g900v with android 6.0.1 I downloaded OTA. I know nothing about this topic, I was an apple user for 4 years then switched to this. I've tried to downgraDE using firmware from sammobile, don't know if that's what I am supposed to do... but nothing ever works, it either gets stuck on verizon screen or Odin says fail and I have to flash 6.0.1. Can anyone help? And remember I'm a noob so if you do help, please post links and stuff.
I have the same question.
I've looked all over XDA and other places and it seems that we have to use safestrap, but that requires root, and root requires an unlocked bootloader, but to unlock your bootloader requires root. I'm finding a circular reference that makes it impossible to do anything!
My CID starts with 15, im on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (received OTA), not rooted, bootloader locked, on verizon. Is it possible to root this phone?
Did you guys see the stickies at the top? It's all (all of it) spelled out for you there. Read the guides
Guys, there are 2 guides you HAVE to read. Only the OP should do it.
In general, odin back to official PB1, then root the PB1 .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
Then unlock bootloader and flash to a MM rom.

Right after flashing pb1, reboot into recovery and do a factory reset.
You mean it will softbrick when you flash pb1 tar file in Odin?

Yes, I flash it, the oNE from sammObie which has pb1 and is for g900v and I soft brick no matter what I do, so I flash back to 6.0.1

nsol1, read what Lightn1ng has stated and you should be fine. If not, try downloading PB1 from the link here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24438995911970571
When you download it verify the md5 to make sure the file isn't corrupt in any way.
Also make sure you are following the guides EXACTLY as instructed from the link provided earlier in this thread. You must follow the two links in order, the top being the first that allows you to root, and the second link being last that unlocks your bootloader. This is not an easy process going from Marshmallow back to Lollipop, then unlocking bootloader to flash rooted Marshmallow, but take small steps at a time, pay attention to details and instructions and you should be able to do this with no problems. I am actually going to do this later today with a family member's S5. In about 24 hours I will update if I am unable to complete the steps provided. If I am able to get it working, then I will make sure to tell you what steps I took, if it was any different than what I stated in this post.
Research is always a good thing to do before taking the jump. I have already downloaded the necessary files onto my laptop before I proceed, including the files to flash in the event I make a mistake. That way I don't spend half a day downloading everything while the phone is unusable. And I have read through the majority of the comments to see what problems others have had issues with so I know what fixes there are.
Hello all, I have a Total Wireless aka Verizon TracFone branded S5, so it's model s902l but it's g900v hardware with unlocked bootloader. Of course they never released any updates so I'm wondering if some will share a twrp backup of the newest, or if you believe another is better, their modem and bootloader for me I'd like to try it, worse case I restore my backup if it doesn't take.
Thanks

The Modems are located on the following thread.
[BASEBAND-FIRMWARE-MODEMS]Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 {SM-G900V/KLTEVZW}[ODIN] by Ibuprophen
As far as the Bootloader... you will need to be careful when it comes to that because you can permanently lock it up and, possibly, brick it too.
I'm not sure where any of the separate Stock Bootloader files are on the forum since those who, typically, need it installed back on the device normally just flashes the Stock Firmware via Odin.
I've got a feeling that you might possibly be referring to the Stock Recovery and not the Bootloader.

There's a handful of TWRP flashable ones in the OP of that thread.
The only reason that the thread title states "Odin" is because most of them are Odin flashable ones.
I'm one of the threads Developers and u planned on creating the additional Recovery flashable ones soon but, am just delayed a bit.
The Odin flashable ones are actually the preferred method for most members anyway because of the additional safety checks by Odin.

I'll look again but read on one of the posts that they weren't TWRP flashable? I don't have a computer to use Odin right now and last time I tried those very safety checks you mention prevented me from flashing 900v files to my 902l branded phone. Ended up with a read only modem for a bit for trying. Of course the only factory firmware available anywhere is older than what came on mine and what sounds like everyone else's branded phone so have to be careful. That's why I was hoping for a backup to try rather than flashing something, maybe I don't fully understand the process but thought it'd be a safer route?
Am I supposed to use one of the SS/FF zips?
Last time I was attempting to upgrade my bootloader and modem I was following a thread that was supposed to both upgrade those and unlock the bootloader of actual 900v phones. According to that thread SS/FF zips aren't compatible with TWRP because they work differently?
Well I tried the newest available zip, it took about 15 minutes to flash and said successful but baseband still s902ludu3aog2 so that didn't work... Still hoping to get ahold of a backup I can just restore it at least try, unless someone has another suggestion on how to get newer 900v modem and possibly bootloader on my 902l model 900v hardware?
So nobody is willing to share a backup of their modem and bootloader?!?!

I think, flashing a bootloader from another S5 variant is a bad idea, most likely you'll brick the phone. Prepare an unbrick microsd at least to be ready, but nothing is guaranteed.
I don't think you'll manage to flash modem and bootloader from TWRP because TWRP means Samsung's binary state: custom and these partitions are protected in custom state.
I think, your best bet is to revert to factory recovery, get Samsung binary: official, root the phone and use SS or FF.
Not possible, factory firmware doesn't seem to exist, only 1 does and it's older than what it came with from the factory. Also it's Verizon hardware, same FCC id, but different model and comes with unlocked bootloader. I don't want to flash anything, I just want to restore a backup.
I appreciate your advice but I already been thru all of this...
Flashing is simply not going to work unless there's a way to change my device model maybe?
All I really want is somebody with a modem and bootloader newer than KitKat to please back them up in TW RP and share them please.

If the hardware is physically identical I don't understand why running a bootloader meant to run on this exact Hardware would cause a problem?
But I'm primarily interested in an updated modem. Neither will Flash since there are no updated modems for this MNVO branded Verizon phone.
