I rooted and installed twrp on my G2. I was on 4.4.2, and tried to flash a lollipop ROM. I'm guessing i needed to do something special before I flashed the rom. I made a backup, but after it failed, I went to find it and it isn't there. When I boot it just sits in a boot loop at the LG screen. I can get back into twrp and into download mode.
Edit: I tried to flash a kit kat rom over usb otg and that didn't work either.
Im kinda in the same boat... flashed lollipop which went fine but actually prefer kit kat so wanted to go back to stock. booted into twrp, restored a backup but stuck on lg screen.. now cant get back into twrp recovery takes me to factory reset, someone said if press power button 3 times wont factory reset but should take into twrp... it didnt and now its sat on 'factory reset processing' for the passed 20 mins.

this worked for me... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
I can't use the KDZ method because I have the sprint version. I triend the lg flash tool with the TOT file but it just sits on "READY". When I try to boot now it gets to the lg symbol and the i get these white lines and then the whole screen turns whitish/green.
Edit: Not how this works but this is what I did to get it to work. I flashed the "white lines zip fix" then the "kk radio zip" then my rom then my gapps. Phone works now!

I have to think I'm not the first to be in this situation but my searches didn't turn up anything that looked familiar.
I rooted the stock phone and installed TWRP 2.6xx a month or two ago with no issues. Everything's been running great and I decided it was time to make another backup using TWRP.
After a successful backup I wiped dalvik and cache out of habit and went to reboot -- TWRP said I was not rooted and wanted to know if I wanted to install SuperSU? This question was unexpected since I'd been rooted for a long time, and I decided to just say yes. The phone rebooted and stopped at the Samsung Galaxy S4 boot screen. I did up-volume reboot to recovery, but it seemed to hang at the TWRP blue screen -- I later discovered it will eventually get to the menu after a minute or two of the blue screen. I tried wiping cache and dalvik again and rebooting -- every time I try to reboot now it asks if I want to install SuperSU -- whether I say yes or no seems to make no difference -- I've tried both several times. Every time it hangs at the Samsung boot screen, or it takes forever to get to TWRP if I'm booting to recovery.
I've tried wiping cache, dalvik and data with no improvement. I finally tried formatting data, but again no improvement. I also tried restoring my backup several times and wiping cache and dalvik but still stuck.
I prior to today's problems I'd used TWRP a number of times and I don't recall it asking the SuperSU question, so I am thinking that is the key to this problem, and I'm wondering if anyone knows what it means?
You need to go to 2502 twrp, 26+ has hanging problems and possible Partition issues, also what rom are you on? Do you need to flash super su along with the rom /gapps?
Here's the twrp forum for us SPH-L720
The last page has a download link for the most stable build for us good luck!

I'm running what came on the phone, just unlocked, rooted, and installed TWRP.
I ran CM10.1 on my previous phone and currently on my tablet, but my impression from running it previously is CM is a downgrade in voicemail functionality (you get these annoying text messages and have to call the voicemail), and I'm assuming it doesn't support the special GS4 hardware features like being able to hover your finger.
OK I installed TWRP 2502 and it now boots to recovery normally. However, it still asks me before rebooting if I want to install SuperSU, and it hangs on the Samsung boot screen.

How did you root? CF auto root also installs SuperSU
Do you have a back up from when you were rooted? IF twrp keeps giving you problems, use cwm, are you able to get past the Samsung boot..
Yeah that's what I did back when I rooted it months ago. I tried running CF auto root again today and it didn't work, so I ran it from Odin and it did work that time, but there was no change -- still hangs on the Samsung boot screen, although now I'm back to the stock recovery. So I tried installing the stock MF9 firmware from Odin -- still hangs on the boot screen. I don't know what to do at this point...
After mf9 install avd stock recovery did you factory reset
Yes, I did a factory reset -- followed the video instructions by qbking77. Still hangs on the boot screen.
Take out battery.. Put back in. Go to stock recovery, holding all 3 buttons volume up factory reset.. If you used odin abd flashed mf9 it should fix you?

Im also stucked with the same problem!! After flashing my rom succesfully it just ask ur device is not rooted swipe to install!! I tried all the posiblities!! but i stuck with the boot image!! pls help me!!
From experience it sounds like you should head over to sammobile and Odin back to stock and start fresh.
1. Odin to stock
2. Root phone
3. Put desired recovery
4. Flash ROM (be sure to read dev install instructions some require reboot of recovery after wipe)
5.try to restore backup (best if you flash ROM that is backup then restore backup)
6.if you went into nae or ng2 you cannot downgrade to me
7.google has many solutions
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
Sorry for necro, but did anyone figure out a solution to this? This just happened to me.
Just Reflash it
We have the same issue, tried to install supersu binary, after installing through twrp recover, my phone went bootloop, as i've tried to search the internet, the issue doesn't fix by by most of the users unless they reflash their device. though its a bit hassle starting from zero, but atleast, you got ur device back
This helps me:
1. Run Odin on your computer and, after entering download mode on your phone, establish a connection between your devices with the help of the USB cable.
2.Note: for download mode – power off your smartphone and then press and hold, at the same time, the Power, Volume Down and Home buttons.
3.Odin will try to recognize your device; if everything works as expected, on the program the “added” message will be displayed and the ID:COM field will be turned yellow, or blue. (Note: if that’s not happening, unplug the USB connection, close Odin, force restart your phone and reinstall the USB drivers on your computer before retrying the steps from above)
4.From the program click on the “PA” button and load the custom recovery image; don’t check Re Partition and Auto Reboot options.
5.When done, click on “start” and wait while TWRP recovery is being added on your phone
6.In the end, Odin will display the “pass” message and the ID:COM filed will be turned green (or other color) with message - RESTART; you can then remove the USB cord and reboot your smartphone.
I have had this prob on a few things , if you have a backup, flash any mod that will go to the device will do then run the backup and reflash should work .and if you have twrp try to reformat all but the system and see if that helps.
Good luck.
Hi to everyone.
Today, I installed the TWRP and the ROM and both were installed correctly on a Le Pro3 X722. The problem started when the Google services were updating. Suddenly, the phone restarted and entered in a bootloop. I was not even able to enter the TWRP. The page freeze on LE-Recovery logo and then crashed (fill full of lines). I disconnected the battery for a while and then, I was able to enter the TWRP for 2 time but recovery crashes in few seconds. I wanted to wipe and install a clean rom but I cannot enter TWRP anymore.
Please, Is there someone that could help me?
Thank you very much in advance
PS. My phone is not recognized via ADB. I tried with the AIO Tool but my device is not detected.
Hi, I followed the whole process for Qfil explained here:

Installation was correct but nothing change in my phone:
- same start page and bootloop
- Same problem trying to access the recovery.
Now, i can connect via fastboot and I would like to install a fastboot rom (preferable EUI stock 20) but I cannot find one. All links are dead.
Thank you very much in advance
Well I flashed SuperS4 this morning. Wont ever make it past the flashing android screen right after the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen. So I go into recovery(TWRP) and it wont go past the dang TWRP logo screen.... Not good... Anyone have any advice? Phone is like a week old... TWRP worked perfectly before. I was using BeanStalk rom and decided to try out SuperS4.
I've always used the latest Philz recovery and never had a problem with it

As @churchey360 says - use the latest philz.
Also, you want to reboot recovery after doing wipes and before flashing the ROM.
Your steps should look like this:
1 - do all your wipes
2 - reboot recovery
2.1 - if asked to install Superuser say yes
3 - Flash ROM
3.1 wipe cache and dalvik if you want.
4 - reboot system and let it sit for 10 minutes before you do setup. If you cannot get past the splash screen after 10 minutes you messed up somewhere. Check the md5 hash of the ROM and verify it matches. You may want to boot to recovery from after a battery pull.
Holler back and let us know.
I have never messed with the s4 but,

On devices with unlockable bootloaders (non odin) such as samsung devices, i think you have to flash the boot image file somehow. (no fan of odin)
but if the device contains fastboot, then flash the boot.img in the rom. if odin, download a stock tar and flash it
I faced the same problem... But i solved it by flashing cwm 6.0.4.4 recovery then wipe system, data, cache and delvik cache... Then reboot recovery then wipe again.... Then flash the rom.
It will work with you.
i'm assuming you can get the phone in download mode (hold power + down arrow) and then use odin to flash a new recovery (preferably cwm 6,0.44) then go into recovery and do another wipe/reset/etc and install the rom again.
EDIT: Well it's not solved, but in the process of trying to fix it I soft-bricked it so I forced myself to have to tot back to 4.2.2 using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687768 . Now I'm simply trying to get it to OTA back to D80020y (on Cricket... using a prepaid AT&T sim to try and force an OTA... no luck).
I'm sure I'll end up facepalming as I've gotta be missing something simple.
I was running stock D80020y, rooted with a few exposed tweaks - nothing major. I flashed TWRP using Autorec, did a full "nandroid", then proceeded to install Blisspop 3.3 by doing the following steps:
A full wipe
Flashing LP_30d loki'd bootstack (my hunch is this is the problem)
Flashing the rom + gapps
I had lots of issues with it not recognizing my sim card and acting as if I had no service, despite the APN settings looking accurate. So I got back into recovery (had to install/run autorec again as I couldn't get into it from the rom), restored my EFS just in case, then did a full wipe and restored the nandroid - all of it.
The first time it booted up, it went through the update of every app and just hung on "starting apps". I let it go for a good 10 minutes before rebooting and it just hung at the logo prior to full boot. I got back into recovery and restored again, but no luck - it just hangs every time.
Is the bootstack my problem? I REALLY don't want to have to flash back to stock via kdz or tot as I'm on cricket and won't be able to OTA back to D80020y. Any input is appreciated!
OK, so I have an issue that I have not seen before, I googled the issue but cannot find anyone with the same issue. So I will try to keep this brief and hope that somebody will please help me with this.
I have LS980 Sprint LG G2. Earlier today, I tot my phone to ZVE. I used the update.zip method to update to ZVG. Then I reboot into recovery, wiped data/system/cache/dalvik, flashed the new CloudyG2 3.1 rom, flashed the hotfix, then reboot my phone. It booted to the LG logo and stayed there. Did not go any further. No boot animation. So I reboot back to recovery, wiped data/system/cache/dalvik again and this time I tried by flashing the LP bootstack, then the CloudyG2 3.1, then the hotfix and reboot my phone. This time it just showed the LG logo then straight to a black screen and stayed there. So I reboot to recovery again, wiped again, then flashed KK baseband, then CloudyG2 2.2. Now that rom booted up and my phone was back to normal, or so I thought.
Now, I can boot into the rom and everything works in the rom. I can boot into recovery and it flashes the things I want it to flash. But I do not have download mode. When I try to go into download mode, it shows the blue dots and says download mode, but at the top it says secure boot error. Then goes to the black screen again. So now I cannot tot to go back to factory.
I also tried to flash the CloudyG2 3.1 from CloudyG2 2.2. After I booted into CloudyG2 2.2, I went back into recovery, wiped data/system/cache/dalvik, then flashed CloudyG2 3.1, the hotfix, then reboot the phone and it shows LG logo for a second then back to the black screen. I also tried flashing the LP bootstack before CloudyG2 3.1, logo then black screen.
I know this is somewhat of a repost. But there I am discovering new things along the way and nobody has helped me yet. Anyone know how I can fix this?
Was having problems with Google play store so I factory reset from phone and not twrp and was stuck in twrp bootloop.
Then I flashed H918 deodex rom to fix it and now I'm stuck at LG Startup screen. Help please. I cannot afford another phone. Sucky military pay ((

did you do a backup of the stock rom? go back into recovery and just load the backup.

Did you re-run the Superuser zip after reflashing the rom? Some roms don't do that automatically and leaves it up to you. Also havent read up on it, but can you flash a rom from 918 to your model? If worse comes to worse im sure you can use LGs desktop tool to restore to factory and start over.
Yeah i know how you feel about the military pay ? im active duty army but not for much longer!

You need to boot into twrp via hardware keys then factory reset. I did this a while back. It was frickin killing me. You need to power off or pull battery. Use the hardware keys(power plus volume down until lg logo appears then release power for one second repress it until you get the white reset screen) to boot into recovery. Hit yes twice. Factory reset. Restore your backup if you have one the reboot system..

I'm in same boat for same reason with my US996. Factory reset from withing system. The problem is TWRP intercepts the request, and does not complete it. Even if you do it (factory reset) with the button combination. I have tried to wipe all and restore my TWRP backup (all partitions except sd card), but it remains in the boot loop. I also tried to flash a H918 rom, but the installer errors with what amounts to "wrong device" error. So stuck until I can track down a stock US996 installable file.
flashed boot.img and system.img and now when im ready to reboot it says NO OS! are you sure you want to reboot?

My experience was I restored a backup and reboot. It kept booting to twrp no matter what. I could access download mode and fastboot but those did nothing. I reflashed recovery while in twrp restored backup and it still kept looping. I then at my wits end entered twrp by doing what I explained. I used the hardware side and rebooted system after that. You might try reflashing recovery img via twrp then try using the hardware keys to enter twrp and reboot from there..

Pretty sure that's normal to say that after flashing a system img.. Could be wrong but I'd wait for a confirmation.

I kept at it (twrp restore of previous backup) and finally got back into workable state. After twrp restore I had to also immediately flash a super su.zip. The first reboot went back to recovery (twrp) but instead of panicking and messing about I simply had it reboot system again and it came back up normally.
I found that my twrp backup is not truly clean stock so I'm done messing about until a clean stock for us996 shows up.
Yeah i got mine booting but on the main screen notification bar says Android is upgrading when it finishes my phone reboots
