[Q] Device encryption not working - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dears,
my device runs Lollipop and it's rooted using CF-root.
Whenever I try to encrypt it, it reboots into Samsung's logo, then reboots again without to encrypt.
Can anybody get rid of this?
Thanks!

Dear,
I can't because I encrypted in this way:
Restore stock kernel (no wipe)
Encrypt
Flash CF-root
With this procedure I did not loose any data and it perfectly works rooted and encrypted.
Bye.

Process System isn't responding

Hi
I'm having issues with my I9505 Galaxy S4. The phone was rooted and after trying a few ROMs (Omega) etc I returned to a NAND backup with was basically rooted stock (via TWRP). Over the weekend strange lock-ups kept happening and I keep getting - Process System isn't responding. When I try and make a call the phone either reboots and hands for a minute and returns that error. This morning I have flashed via ODIN a rooted stock rom then a standard stock ROM - both do not fix the issues, I still have the same errors which is odd.
Can anyone make any suggestions ?
Thanks, Nick

if you are rooted, flash custom recovery, format system via recovery, then flash a custom rom or stock firmware.

Sorry, just saw that you did all these already.
You have to be VERY careful. It is already reported that the wipe in TWRP might screw things up.
So, I recommend you that you install a prerooted stock ROM, and the stock recovery. Then do a factory reset (from the phone!).

Full Phone Encryption Stalling at 0%

ROM: Cloudy G3 2.0 (already posted in his thread)
Recovery: Team Win recovery v2.7.0.0
Whenever I attempt to Full Phone Encrypt it will reboot and stay at 0%. I've tried it a few times now.
It will let me reboot back to the OS so it's not even doing anything.
Due to Recovery/rom? I'd like full encryption...
Thanks for help.
@Unoid I think its the rom, but I am not sure about recovery. Also remember that if encryption fails during encrypting then bad things happen to your data. And also if you are flashing much roms then I suggest to not to encrypt, just use an password.
What stable rom will work with encryption?
I'm in the same boat -- encrypting stays at 0% and rebooting starts up normally like nothing happened. Any luck finding a stable ROM where encryption works?

I went back to the stock KitKat ROM. I'd still be interested in hearing if anyone gets encryption working on a custom ROM though.
I would be very interested to know a custom AOSP ROM with Encryption as well. I know it works for other phones. Is it specific to the kernal?

New marshmllow bug fix update

Just got a little update
How to install this patch update on rooted phone? Is it possible to make a stock recovery and unroot without losing any of data?
Thanks

I did try to install it, the file downloaded and phone rebooted... then Prince's recovery screen loaded up, forgot I rooted the phone the other day using his excellent "Lenovo K3 Note Manager" tool
I might unroot my phone another day and try to install it again. The only thing bugging me about the marshmallow update is a problem I'm having with bluetooth streaming, songs aren't resuming when I disconnect/reconnect they restart. I doubt this update will fix it anyway, from what I've read it might have to wait until 6.0.1 is released..

Did you unroot your phone using a fabulous Lenovo K3 Note Manager 3.0? What about replacing TWRP with stock recovery? Does Note manager replace it automaticaly?
Thanks a lot, A.

I used version 3 to root the phone, but I haven't tried unrooting it yet.
After update the wifi is very stable and i am getting the full bandwidth that my ISP provide.
Any way this update can be packaged as an update.zip ??
My phone is rooted and on TWRP (s422 clean rom)... I would rather not unroot, and redo the stock recovery, just for this update, but I am getting data connection drops after power cycling.

Use this Slick S424 ROM: http://www.needrom.com/download/slick-s424-row/
Make a complete backup via TWRP and follow the instructions below, than restore only data partitions you made before. Works like a charm
Thanks... Did that (not seamlessly) and its currently just updating my apps..

After updating, I found some issues. One of them is Ebay client - does not work anymore :crying:
Isn't there a way to replace the updater script from the original lenovo 4mb 424 update with a modified one so it works with TWRP?
But how sir give me updater scripts
I just flashed the s424 TWRP backup over my S422.. worked fine.. Kept root and TWRP.

So was your phone rooted?
Did you lose the root access after updating or was it still there? AFAIK this update shouldn't do anything to root, but you can never tell

PAC-ROM - Which version should I download?

http://en.miui.com/thread-492490-1-1.html
Has anyone installed this thing? I don't know which one should I put on my phone. Everytime I want to return to MIUI phone gets stuck on bootloop, forcing me to use cable with switch to unbrick it. I think it happens because of encryption. And since this is my first Xiaomi phone I don't know where to check if my phone is encrypted. Help me.
You have to disable DM-Verify in Advanced in TWRP before boot

But now phone wants some password.
Your phone is encrypted?
Maybe your phone is encrypted by you. There is a function to encrypt all the data on your phone using a password.

Bootloop issue please help

Well I have no problem flashing stock rom back, but everytime I flash TWRP it seems to just want to go in a bootloop. I have G928R4 USC on 7.0, every time I restart the phone it just bootloops. I can access TWRP but when I reboot it pulls that crap -_- Please help. Thank you

Yes on the latest twrp. Idk what the issue is.
Would it be because I'm on 7.0? Idk if that's a thing but I would assume it wouldn't be the case.

Are you using the one for your device from here?
There are 2 variants of the SM-G928R4

Yes I'm sure I'm using the right one for my device. I have never had this issue before.
Went back to twrp 3.0.2.0 and it's fine, I guess it was just the latest release that was the issue.
