[Q] Set screen to not turn on after I receive a text

I bought an LG G2 yesterday after changing my mind and not buying a Note 3 instead. It's the T-Mobile version in black (fingerprint magnet, no white ones in stock unfortunately). I'm coming from a Galaxy S2, and everything feels amazing compared to it. There's one thing I don't like, and that I can't figure out... When I get a text on my LG G2, the screen lights up, every single time. I'm a pretty heavy text user, and I average about 10,000 texts a month. Sometimes I'm in a lecture and I can't text back or use my phone, but it's sitting in my pocket with the screen on wasting my battery and opening up all kinds of apps. How do I disable this? Thanks.
I know you can change text apps that have this option.

If you are using the stock TXT app. Open the App/hit button for the menu, then settings/notifications. you should be able to do what you want there.

That's what I tried, but there's nothing about the screen in there.
I have notifications enabled, new message pop-up enabled, preview enabled, notification sound (text ringtone), vibrate set to always, and repeat alert set to every 2 minutes. Besides those settings, there's nothing, and none of them control the screen unfortunately.

Cant you just on click "notifications display message notification" ??
I'm using the app SMS pop-up to manage all my SMS notification.
The stock app has it's notifications all turned off.
As for SMS popup, there is a setting to keep the screen off when SMS is received.
Well.. I don't like the screen to turn on as well (I don't use any lock screens) and also, I like the pop up feature.

It's just a check box, so if I uncheck that box, I don't get any notifications.

Although that's not the optimal solution, I guess it'll have to do. I'll try that right now, thank you for your help.

Notifications Problem

I'm not sure if this is only me or not.
I got my phone for abour 3-4 days now and I noticed that some app notifications don't come through. For instance game notifications that something is happening in the game that I was getting on my previous phone don't appear at all. I also have a Series Guide app on my phone that notifies me with new episodes of the series that I watch daily but now I don't get these notification unless I open the app and then all them come together.
Sometimes viber doesn't pop up at all. E-mail (using Inbox Google) seems to be fine.
I checked all settings (wifi is on Always on) apps permissions etc. Nothings seems to be out of place.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Check in settings - clear background app
And add your app to the white list.
This is the most useless and annoying 'feature' on this phone. Hope elephone removes it or allows us to turn it off.

Unable to clear Missed-call notification

Hello Forum,
Sometimes when I get missed call, I am not able to clear missed call notification even after clicking clear-all. A white plain notification stays in notification bar. I could get rid from this when restarted the device, any alternative without restarting :crying:
go into the dialer and view the missed call. that should clear it out too

Lockscreen notifications

Hey,
suddenly my lockscreen notifications are kinda clunky. The notifications dont show up on the lockscreen. They only show up if theres multiple of them.
For example one whatsapp message wont pop up, but if second message comes, it suddenly shows up if its a good day, sometimes even this doesnt trigger any action.
Any help? i know there was a thread about this somewhere but was unable to find it.

Replying to a message through notification bar

Hi there guys, new guy here... I have an S8 for the past few weeks and I have a small issue with it that I can't find a workaround. When I receive a message, I usually like to reply from the notification bar. Just pull down, hit reply and write. I used to do this on my old phone (LG G3) but with the S8 I can't write a message longer than 70 letters. No matter what. If I want to write a bigger one I have to go to the message app and write from there. Do you how to fix this guys?
Anyone can help me out?

I have S8. And I can write as long as I want from my notification bar. I wonder why. Maybe try changing the SMS app? I use Textra.
I can too. But usually for longer message I enter the app it self
