xperia camera flash light issue

why the xperia flash light doesnot work when using camera ,is this my phone issue ,and where can i enaple it
it's not a true flash. more like a light that is either on or off. maybe 2.1 will bring us real flash but who knows.
You have to switch it on from within the camera menu.. advanced settings, photo light. (it's not a flash!!)
Not yet at least...the Nexus has a killer flash, albeit a little washed out on photos.
its an LED..similar to one on X1

i'm sorry friend, it's just a photo light no matter what it says on any web site
hopefully that might change with some updates...

wtf are they doing with us ,they let us buy a device with most hardware specificatios are not working probepy and other are disabled ,wtf is this compny i really shiuld have bought htc ,like my hd2
heh, it's not supposed to work as a flash sorry
flash/ light type is the heading... Photo light is the specification for this handset.

Flash / light type - Photo light
When lighting conditions are poor, your picture can still be good.

Have to agree with the OP. BUT it is SE description/specification sheets that are at fault. See winge about bluetooth and voice dialling!
Trade descriptions raises its ugly head.

ir leds lets u take night photos....

hey guys i am happy to hear that xda had started hardware mod topic... so i think i should post one of my ideas...
i am taking about taking night photos( of course u can take one with a phone having an led flash or so.. but it is not about photo taken using an led flash). it is all about night vision photos. so r u interested? if so believe me u can do it with ur normal phone camera. no oter spec is needed. any camera can do it.
so the fact behind this is the normal ccd used in cameras( here our phone cameras which also use ccds) can detect ir light which cant be detected using bare human eyes...
so u can do some spy things using it???( lol "chicks" gona hurt u a lot).
all u have to make a light source using ir leds( those u find on remote controls) , get few 10-20 of them from ur nearest radio shack, assemble it in a suitable cabin( a small cardreader cabin can do the trick), along with some li-ion battery pack, a control switch, and a charging port( if u want to charge it), after u finish, turn on the ir light, turn on ur camera( ofcourse u have to turn ur led flash light off), carry both of them into a total dark place, viola, u can see things in the room on ur phone, and with no viasible light out there, no one gona detect u..
actualy, i had done it with my k800i sonyericsson cybershot phone, in which i used the fastport connector to power the light source, u can get about 3.2 v from the port. but for new android device, we cant get some v-out since 99% of phones are usb slaves, and not usb hosts. but if u have a phone/tab with a usb host port, ofcourse u can get upto [email protected] from it.
i will soon update the thread with circuits and photos, but now i have an exm time out there.. so be in touch. also if somebody managed to make one, u should share it here.

Our cameras are able to detect IR lights, ccd and CMOS both can. The only problem is they have an IR filter. That's why people IR mod their camera, not their flashes.
Unless you can dig around INSIDE the camera sensor itself, I don't think it's possible.
Hey, this is actually a good idea, I've never thought about it this way.
I've got an infra-red night-vision monocular that's got an IR LED on it, so I turned out all the lights, flicked on the LED, and opened my X10's camera. I couldn't see anything through my phone, except the LED itself.
I'm gonna go buy some more LEDs...
EDIT:
I'm not an expert on cameras, so I forgot about the IR filter. That's why it wasn't working.

Well I'm not a 100% sure if its the same with small cameras, but I know in order for a dslr to take IR photos they need a modification to the sensor itself.

Wait.. Then what about the LEDs on the remotes? Aren't they IR LEDs too? They can be seen by cameras.

Yeah, but the filter makes them dim. They're actually quite bright.
I've done IR mod to several phones and digital camera I had, and with a bit of luck and patience you can get some beautiful results
You need to open camera, reach sensor, and remove IR filter, then take floppy or the dark edge of old camera film, cut two pieces about the size of original filter, place it on sensor and reassemble camera. Set it to black and white, and go to some park on a sunny day, you'll forget about the world when looking at the photos...
IR filters vary a lot in quality - cheaper cameras (like those found in cell phones) tend to be weaker.
However the most interesting results would come from a complete hot mirror removal and replacement with a visible-blocking IR-pass filter. (This is what many IR mods for SLRs do).
ok dudes as i already forgot to notice about the ir filter, though cellphone cameras have one, they are much weaker than professional camera's. so if u managed to get more ir light, ofcourse u gan get the results, for that u have to use powerfull ir leds. like 1w or 3w ir leds, google it. i think ebay have them, they are bit cheep.. 9-10 $'s.
and with my k800i, man itz a true camera phone . though itz 3.2mp,( k790,k800,k810 cybershots) no other 3.2 snapz from any other phones( even those having more mp ratings) cant beet itz snapz. and i swear a camera driver modification makz it a small SLR( yap i mean it). with that driver changed i can take picz in 3200 iso, and 2 second shutter speed. ( lol the driver have a hell of options juz like photoshop cs6, u will take atleast a weak to learn all!!!) . so i can take pic even in moon light with out xenon flash. so ir filter is not a problem for it. thats why i got it a success.
showlyshah im glad you had success with yours i dont know much about my facinate or cameras. i just recently learned how to root it without brickining my samsung but i intend to try your little experiment with the ir leds i hope i get as much success out of mine as you have with yours

Yap itz just like day. But the odd thing is he is using ready made devices, whereas we are taking about cheep setup which would cost below 20$.
send from my hd2 @ miui 1.12.2
Also guys u can try to make same setup with visible white light source, all u have to care is to obtain an led with cct about 4000-7000 range( don't get confused cct in simple words means the colour of light produced by a light source. Warm white colour( like those of incandescent lamp) have cct below 4000 whereas neutral white( sunlight) ranges from 4000 - 6000 and cool white ( those like cfl's or tubelights) have cct 7000- 8000. ) . So we need neutral white for daylight like illumination. And a 1w or 3w led will do the trick. Check the cct before u buy 1. I personally recommend CREE led for it.
So u need not have to worry if ur phn don't have a flash, or if itz is so poor in lighting. Happy video/ photo shooting...
Regards.
Inform me if u want circuits..

Can you be more specific? I have an old K810 collecting dust, would be great to put cam to use. What driver mod are you using? Where can I get it?
You do realize why IR filters are in pretty much every camera? Well at least one reason. The wave length of IR is much thinner and can travel through light/thin clothing. Try using IR as a source of light, or find a camera without IR filter and rely solely on the suns own IR radiation and we'll be having interesting results
Please corrected me if I'm wrong, I very vaguely know IR filtering and photography.

Check the forum named se-nse.com. the greatest se forum around. For that u have to patch ur phone. If its cid 53, u have to downgrade it to cid 52, then patch, then u have to applay a patch for camera and then change the driver. If u need i will send u the patch and driver.

Yap u r true. But if u totaly remove the ir filter, it will make ur normal pics ugly. So u have to add a manual exposure adjusting window. Ir lights will easily penitrate through thin cloths and thats why i said chickz gona hurt u.
Check you tube. U can view interesting stuffs.

[Video] Photography Tutorial - long overdue!

Hey folks, I got some good news...
The long overdue photography video tutorial is finally out - enjoy!
Tell me what you think (oh, and I'm well aware of the microphone issue, I'll fix it next time). If you knew everything that I've said in this video already, fear not - I'm planning on making a part 2 and a part 3 about post-processing inside and outside of Android, since that's what people seemed interested in, as well as more general photography tips such as how to better compose an image. If you have anything else that you'd love to see a tutorial of, please do mention it!
EDIT: my Z1 Flickr album
Cheers :highfive:
Keep it coming. [emoji1]
I already learn some stuff. [emoji1]
awesome
Thank you boss
The tutorial amazing I learn soo much
Thank you
Keep it going (I'm waiting part 2 and 3)

Can you tell me which rom/kernel do you use? Cause your camera app is opening very fast.

I'm using the latest stock firmware from Sony. So nothing fancy!
The thing is, I tested some things before recording so the application was most likely still in memory. I tried again just now and the camera seems to open in about two seconds when it's not in memory.
Awesome! Great video!
I didn't knew that Night Mode will decrease the shutter speed a bit. I will try it out tonight.
The camera in Z1 is awesome! I have many great shots with it. I just printed around 30 photos. You cannot tell much difference between the phone and a digital camera.
awesome
waiting for part 2
thanks
Any tips and trick using flash LED on Z1 when taking a photo ?
This is a little tricky too.
And the more strong light from flash LED will make the photo better or doesn't for taking a picture with low light ? (light condition around 40-50%)
Thank you very much

Hey,
I never use the LED light on my phone for photos. I used to use Xenon flashes on my SE Satio and Nokia N8, but LED lights are generally just too weak. Especially the single LED found on the Z series. In low light, I will use Night Mode and set my phone against some object so that I can take photos at the minimum shutter speed. For my static shots, an LED light would imbalance the white balance anyway, so I'm always better off not using it (as a "fill light" it is also surprisingly ineffective).
The only time I would consider using the flash is when I'm not trying to take good shots but useful ones instead. Photos that otherwise turn out too dark to see anything that I should be seeing. As for club or party photos - I just don't take those. That is pretty much the most difficult environment and no smartphone camera can really take decent photographs in that case.

I double-checked and I can watch it just fine as well. You sure you don't have something disabled in your browser?
... and man, it's awful listening to your own voice.

is there something else you can do with that heart rate sensor

I wonder if there is something else you can do with that heart rate sensor?
It uses a red-led as a light source so I guess it works exactly like these apps that use the LED-flash.
So I guess it's some kind of a light sensor too. Can't it be utilized as an additional focusing engine for the camera or something? Or for infrared/ultraviolet/whatever camera tricks. Or to lock/unlock your phone?
Any ideas?
Cheers.

Very Low Light Camera in apps in Marshmallow (any version)

Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask that is it just me or anyone else is experiencing this ?
The bug is:
In marshmallow there is very low or no light in some camera apps like retrica, dubsmash, etc. If u go into the sunlight all is OK but if u go indoors even with ample light it'll be so damn dark and u can barely see yourself in both front and rear cameras (yes even with 2 tubelights on). There is no such bug in Lollipop.
Can you guys confirm this. ?
And if anyone can give its solution, i'll be more than thankfull.
Regards,
anshubham
No comments... really. ?
