I've got the galaxy s5 (kltespr) sprint. I'm thinking about root because there are certain features I'd like. One of them being a free WiFi tether mod I've seen. But the only thing is it supposedly works only on the NCB firmware. Is there a mod that works with the nk4 firmware that enables free hot spot tethering?

So my friend recently just moved over to Tmobile from ATT. He unlocked his ATT GS4 and with Tmobile the hotspot is enabled on the plans however in this case the app gives an error when he tries to turn it on.
So, how can we get the hotspot functioning on his ATT GS4 thats now on Tmobile?
TIA
Look for the enable tethering thread in the general section. It's probably checking for the AT&T tethering plan do you'll need to do that to make it work.

На майка им в путката на AT&T.
I have the good luck of owning such a great device like the Samsung Galaxy S4.
I have the bad luck that it is AT&T's version of it.
I have a good stable 3G connection on another carrier, and I am in Eastern Europe.
And I apparently did the mistake of updating to KitKat.
Do those шибани лайнари that are AT&T lock some of their devices' functions like wi-fi hotspot, or am I being a moron?
Says "Mobile data not available or invalid SIM".
As we well know, I can't root it yet.

I lost tethering a few weeks ago after I upgraded to MK2 (AT&T as well).
With the method in the thread I was able to restore that functionality. But you need to be rooted to rename those files.
Guess you will have to wait for root on NB1, and hope that AT&T did not plug that hole.
Let me know.
do you guys have a proper data plan which allows tethering?
I'm going to guess that in eastern Europe you don't have a 5gb+ data plan
the I337 on any stock ROM will look for verification from at&t before allowing tethering. if you were using a workaround, it was a tweak to a system app or setting which was overridden during the update process.
IF you have an at&t plan that allows tethering and the update broke that the disregard my post cuz apparently I'm talking out of my arse.
Well, we got 5+ GB plans, but they are for companies, common users can get up to 3. xD
I mean, we still don't have 4G, but 3G works for me.
I rooted and custom ROMed the s**t out of this phone on mk2, but I've wanted goddamn KitKat forever, and I don't have the money to get yet another new phone. xD

*****HOTSPOT / WIFI TETHER OPTIONS****
So from what I've been reading there are a few:
OPTION 1 - Install rom where hotspot can be used
OPTION 2 - Buy FoxFi
*****QUESTION*****
Has anyone else gotten this to work without flashing a new rom or paying for an app?
I know I've spend more money via time spent researching this....I supposed Verizon's cheap tactic of forcing users with unlimited data plans to pay an additional fee to use something they already are paid for is a "dirty" business tactic (that's life.....) is feeding my flame of rebellion right now....but I may throw in the towel and just buy the app. I don't like option 1 because I don't want to mess around with backups/restores right now and I don't like the security feature/s you have to use when using FoxFi.

Extract the framework apk and replace it with the one in the phone. That's it. You can add a toggle for it. I made I write up in general section on how to do this. There's also a xposed app for it I think it's called moto tether.

Hi,
I have a Note 4 supplied on O2 but that I have flashed with the latest unbranded UK STOCK Lollipop ROM via ODIN. What I was hoping to be able to do is to flash my device with the latest EE Note 4 ROM (when it's released) so that I can use the new WiFi calling/SMS feature they offer.
Does this plan sound do-able? I assume it ought to work but wondered if there was any other way to take advantage of their WiFi calling in the meantime, short of Buying a S6 or the Nokia that they have announced to have support baked in. I also read that the EE S5 also works with WiFi calling?!
Thanks for any thoughts anyone may have.
Dan.
I switched over from AT&T to cricket since it was cheaper. I knew I'd be missing out on somethings but since Cricket allows Wifi Calling on certain phones and the iPhone I thought it would work on my Galaxy S7. Has anyone had any luck getting Wifi Calling working on a MVNO such as cricket? On the original 930A firmware the option was grayed out once I put in the new sim card and it's nowhere to be found when I changed out the firmware for the 930U firmware.
Cricket doesn't support WiFi calling on the S7, not even on the Cricket model (G930AZ) which I own. They only support WiFi calling on iPhones and their own versions of the Galaxy Amp Prime & a couple of LG phones.
this is my first samsung device, can you tell me how to flash G930U firmware on my G930A?
