Android wear and note 4 problem - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the LG G watch and a note 4 i installed android wear on phone and paired it it worked great for a week all the sudden the android wear app says it needs to refresh to uninstall and reinstall. It does that continuously. Anyone had this issue. I tried uninstalling and wiping the cache resetting the watch and it continues. Anyone else have this issue? It works great on my G3 phone. It only occurs on the note 4.

Thanks for the help

I'm having the exact same issue.

same issue.

1.5 months later same problem. we need an alternative

issues with phone calls
I have an LG G watch and a note 4 paired and i'm having issues too.
In my case i can't send out phone calls using the smartwatch. When I try to do that dictating the command "ok google - call XXX" I have a message back on smartwatch screen saying "prova di nuovo sul telefono" (try again on your mobile).
If i try to do the same using the mobile, i mean dictating the command in the google app, it works.
Is someone else experiencing that?

No issues here with my note 4 and Sony sw3.

+1, same here. Note4 seems to work absolutely great with Sony sw3.

On my Note this happens when Google App is disable. If you disabled it you need to re-enable it.

My Zenwatch watch was a little spotty at first but I removed a few apps like wear launcher and it started running 100% better.

My LG G Watch R works great with my Note Edge. Have had the watch for about a month or so.
Both stock Roms not rooted.

Nexus 7 freezing issues

Alright, I am currently on my third Nexus 7 and getting a little frustrated. I really love this device and would love to customize it the way I want but I hold back just in case I have to return another one. My question is, is anyone else experiencing problems with their tablet randomly freezing? I havent seen any forums discussing this particular problem. I have a hunch it could be the Facebook app that is causing this but that is just a theory. Below is a video of said freezing problems. Sorry for the quality; it was late, i was drinking and enjoying Netflix.
Not that I've heard of, but a quick forum search would easily confirm or deny this.
Edit reason: added detail.

If your anything like me I'm constantly force stopping apps because why should they still be running of I'm not using it, right? Well I was having the same issue as you. Freezing and studdering on a quad core CPU. Mainly it was freezing in the settings menu. So I stopped force closing all these apps I usually do and the freezing stopped. I'm on about a week in with my 3rd nexus 7 and not one freeze. So if you do do as I do try just letting the apps be and "kill" them instead.

The way android is designed, apps are supposed to run in the background. Your not supposed to have a lot of free ram. 100 mb of free ram is the same as 5 mb... If it's free ram it isn't doing anything but being wasted just sitting there. Task killers are useless since eclair 2.1.the reason apps run the in the background is so you can open an app where you last left off. Among lots of other reasons. Let android manage the tasks it's really good at it.

I've had a few freezing issues on my nexus 7. I've only had it a couple of days. It becomes completely unresponsive for minutes and never recovers. I have to hold down the power button until it shuts off (20 seconds maybe).
I've had a number of other quirks that really show (to me) that you get what you pay for. Its a cheap tablet with a top end CPU/GPU, but that's about it.
Not sure what my next step is, but I doubt I would be happy with the shortcomings of the Nexus 7 even if I had a perfect device. I think I just like higher end devices is all, and I don't mind paying more for something that just works with no compromise.
Again just my opinion.

No such problems here, but if I were you I would use the Linux command line commands : top, ps, free, df. With those you should be able to find out if an app or process is misbehaving. You need to install the terminalIDE app and read about those commands.

Freezing issues
I just purchsed one... Used it for 2 days. After using for a while I consistantly had freezing, particularly when typing. I called it in for a RMA refund. Don't know what the issue is, but moving on to something more tried and true.

Freezing - yes now and then...
My Nexus 7 freezes occasionally. I have noticed that when it restarts there's a bunch of updates. Me thinks that maybe the CPU was busy doing updates while I was keying in / touching the screen etc and couldn't cope...but maybe not. These apps seem to update a lot, same goes for my notso :silly: smartphone.
Anybody else come back to your Nexus 7 that is actually completely off and requires a power button and volume down hold in order to restart? Also I find the Android OS is consuming much of the battery in some instances.

Bought my N7 three days ago and it worked brilliantly after installing all my apps from the play store then I got the message to update the OS from 4.2 to 4.2.1 which I duly obliged. Thereafter it was a totally different device with crazy stuttering just swiping home screens and and solid freezes on chrome which was especially bad. I had to do at least half dozen soft re sets when everything ground to a halt and a factory wipe none of which helped. I spent this afternoon using the nexus toolkit to unlock+root my N7 and installed nightly CyanogenMod 10.1 with jb20121212 Gapps and individually reinstalled+tested every app from play store including Chrome. Its (thankfully) now buttery smooth again and I've not had any problems whatsoever in the past 8 hours of using it. This surprised me as CM10.1 is based on 4.2.1 and maybe suggests its a problem with the stock Gapps included in the OTA?
I love android but Google are releasing these updates before they're ready and it makes the OS look unreliable in the eyes of the average consumer who has no interest in rooting and flashing roms.

I bought my wife a first generation Nexus 7 about 2 years ago and everything was fine with the tablet and is now updated with stock 4.4.4. Recently she started noticing that it would freeze for no reason and finally it got to the point where it would freeze very soon after it was booted up. I cleaned the cache and factory reset but the problem persisted. Obviously the unit is out of warranty but I called Asus to see if they could offer any advice. The only answers I got was that they couldn't do anything and it sounded like there was a problem with the motherboard. They also told me I could sent the tablet in for repairs but it would probably cost around $200! After laughing out loud at this ridiculous amount I told them I'd just go buy a Samsung Tab 4 for my wife and forget the Nexus. I bought the 8 inch Tab 4 and my wife is happy with the functioning of the product. BUT, I decided to give the Nexus 7 another chance at life so I utilized the Nexus Root Toolkit and I kept the stock 4.4.4 ROM instead of going the custom ROM route. I am pleased to report that there was NO motherboard problem and this tablet is working great so I am now the proud owner of the Nexus 7.
3year later. Still the same on 5.0.2
I really want to break this tablet on someones head who made it.
After 5.02 ...
It slowed down substantially. I did the "clear cache" which helped a little. It's so slow web browsing that I may as well not even try ... often 15 seconds to a minute to respond to a link click.
SO ... use it mostly for the Kindle app. I don't think it is the app fault, but when it locks up now, I see nothing on the screen; finally determined that it was in the process of downloading an update to some app or another, and the downloading locks the system if the kindle app is on the screen ... and seems to be a major slowdown other times.
Maybe there will be a 5.03 getting the performance back to KitKat levels.

[Problem] Screen freezing and browser stutter

Just picked up a Galaxy Note 3 from Rogers yesterday. This is one amazing phone.
I've been having issues with my phone though and I wanted to know if anyone else has been experiencing this.
My screen from time to time will become unresponsive....doesn't matter what I'm doing. To fix this issue I usually have to turn off the screen and turn it back on for it to work again or i can wait a couple of seconds and then it'll start recognizing my inputs.
As for the browser I notice that the scrolling is not as smooth as it was on my Note 2. The scrolling stutters a little bit.
If anyone knows a quick fix or is this just an isolated incident with my phone and I may have to do an exchange. Any help will be appreciated.

I have been getting the issue as well where my screen stops responding to FINGER touches, but if I pull out the stylus, it responds to that just fine.
It seems to get into this state in a variety of apps & games, as well as on my home launcher screen.
Only thing that resolves it is turning the screen off and on again.

[Q] Does the LG G2 has Step Counter and Step Detector? (Pedometer)

hey hey
i know the iphone 5s and nexus 5 have hardware for this.
on quadrant (im on stock rom, with root, android 4.2.2, variant D802) on info tab shows several sensors including these ones:
LGE Pedometer sensor
LGE Pedestrian-activity-monitor sensor
so, that means LG G2 have those sensors?
when 4.4 update comes, it will be supported?
on kitkat webpage they say "Step detector and counter sensors are available on Nexus 5, and we're working with our chipset partners to bring them to new devices as soon as possible."
thanks in advance
I already use this functionality Pedometer and Pedometer Pro.
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
yes, all phones with gps/acelerometer can use pedometer apps.
but iphone 5s and nexus 5 use specific hardware to do this, instead of apps using gps/acelerometer to do this. less battery, high precision.
so trying to wonder if LG G2 has this.
Hi! Any news on this? Cheers, Thomas
In Play Store the Pedometer Pro application states that in the summary:
Requirements:
- Nexus 5, Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, or LG G2 only. These devices include a hardware step counter that makes it possible to keep the pedometer active without any additional battery drain.
- Android 4.4 KitKat or newer: The latest version of Android provides APIs to utilize that hardware step counter
So I suppose the G2 has the hardware step detector and counter but 4.2.2 does not support them so we have to wait for the 4.4 update to come.

To revive an old thread, I installed the mentioned Pedometer on my LG G2 yesterday afternoon. My Fitbit One at the time showed 6214 steps and I (mostly) kept both the Fitbit and my phone with me for the rest of the day. Ended up with 15937 steps in Fitbit or if we subtract the 6214, then it's 9723. In the G2 I got 9382 steps. So not exactly the same but I did forget my phone on a table for some time while the One was in my pocket... I'll see if I can get some more results today.
Running Mahdi 20140709 (Android 4.4.4) with RenderBroken's R2 kernel, I can install Pedometer Pro, but get "count sensor not available" at startup.
Anyone know if the drivers are in the kernel, the ROM, the baseband (with the other sensors)? Or what's missing from the AOSP side of things to provide access to the step counter sensor(s)?
Only having 15 minutes to play with it before the refund timer runs out makes it difficult to really troubleshoot things. Wondering if anyone else has done any testing with the Pro version on AOSP ROMs.
I'm really missing the step counter feature that was in my feature phone (Sony Walkman w580i) and that's been missing in every smartphone I've had since (Sony Xperia pro, LG Optimus G, LG G2). I've tried various GPS/accelerometer-based pedo apps, and none have been even remotely accurate.

No. Besides, even that unfair comparison I posted before was within a few % so not much point in it even if there was a way.
Yesterday I went for a walk with both devices got 5666 steps on the One and phone shows 5655. Close enough in my opinion.
Just as a follow-up, the hardware step counter works with Vanir (AOSP) with the default kernel and Dorimanx v6.0.
Didn't work for me with Mahdi, but there's a VS980 user who says it works for him on an older version.
Typos courtesy of my LG G2 (D803) running Mahdi-ROM.

Wrong thread...

If your device lags. Swap it out now.

People, if your device lags in hangouts, while scrolling through menus, or just seems slow go get it swapped. Its not all touchwiz by any means. You have a defective device.
I just swapped mine out tonight and its literally night and day comparing the new one and the one I returned. The device is far more responsive and actually performs as I was originally expecting it to. And believe me I tried everything but then I thought to myself why on earth should I have to fix a brand new top of the line device? It was ridiculous. Unnaceptable actually.
I went back to my Verizon corporate store and they had zero issues with me swapping it out and there were no restocking fees or anything like that.
I know this has been covered in other threads but most of those have been filled with random side posts that aren't getting to the real point. So please, do yourself a favor and go get a replacement note 4 before your 14 days are up!

Hmm.. weird. I m getting nasty lag in hangouts and a little hank in other places.. I went to try to exchange right now and every store is out.... I did update hangouts on 4 store phones and they all had the same lag when scrolling and sending messages.
I guess I could call customer service but I bet their sold out. Not convinced so many people have a bad device though. . Wonder if it's some software issue..
hangouts lag is not enough to warrant a replacement though. hangouts has lagged since day 1 for me on every device I've owned except a pure aosp rom or device. it's just how hangouts is. it's poorly optimized for each manufacturers skin. Samsung was typically the worst. then LG. then htc. but yeah, hangouts has been laggy since I had the gs4. my tab s is laggy too. it's a combination for me of swiftkey and hangouts. swiftkey lags awfully in hangouts, but in other apps it's ok.

It was all bad. I don't know if I can relate it to any apps specifically as it seemed like something inherently wrong with the device's software that was loaded. Every app opened slowly. Switching tasks was glitchy and every menu scrolled choppy. It was terrible.

To counter that, the hangouts lag significantly decreased upon swapping devices. You are correct that there was always some lag in hangouts but on the old note 4 I would open the app and watch the spinning circle for up to 3 or 4 seconds at some points. It also put my keyboard to almost a hault. And the messages glitched every time one was sent. I get none of that now which is so relieving. So in my case it was warranted bc all my issues were solved.

It was kind of hard to describe. Honestly it just seemed slow. Didn't react to what I was doing hardly ever. There was always a delay that you could see was not touchwiz related. I had a note 3 that was stock at one point and rooted at another and both those devices were beating my brand new note 4. This for me was enough to at least go back and try a second one.

I think when we are talking about lags, we're talking about everything, not just one specific app. The entire phone is lags, like in settings, home screen, launching apps etc...
Mine only lags when I'm downloading apps while doing other things. If that's considered as a defective device then I can still return it, hoping to get a white one.

Hey...mine doesnt have any serious lag, as some are mentioming, but it is choppy as hell when scrolling through FB, Instagram, Messenger, Hangouts, etc etc...and web pages are slow loading, even on wifi...i mean, i hated my G3 due to lag, but in these mentioned instanced, it beat the crap out of this. I hate to think i might have made a mistake trading off of the G3
Those with lag issues have you disabled all the bloatware? This was huge for me as soon as I did the device ran smooth. Switched animations to .5 and now we are rocking with no hiccups except I can't update Shealth without it FC launching.
While I think it makes sense, part of "knows" is doesn't make sense. I don't know how a device would be defective and only lags on hangouts. Hangouts lags on my Galaxy S5, Note 4 and G3. Lags on my Tab S 8.4... it doesn't lag on my Original Moto X. I'd love to get my device swapped specially if it is defective but I don't see how it could be the case.
Also, when I first got my phone, hangouts wasn't lagging. I deleted my conversations and it wasn't lagging up until I had a decent amount of messages again...
Installed an older version of hangouts and doesn't lag. I mean, how can this be the phone and not the message?
I think lag on 1 app could be more related to the app itself and not hardware issue. Maybe hangouts isn't optimized to our screen resolution yet...

I was wondering this as well if it was more an issue on the app side rather than the hardware/OS. I have a couple apps/games which just seem to lag horribly but others are stupid fast.
Is there anyway to narrow down defective or just a laggy app?
I only see small lag in hangouts when i search for someone because it looks up also their hangouts chat that is all every other app works fine.
So im good ?

Not getting 3rd party notifications on android wear with N Beta... anyone else?

Hey Guys and Gals,
I updated my huawei watch to 2.0 and went from 6.0.1 to the new N beta.
For some reason i could not get third party apps to send notifications to my watch. i was getting google now cards and getting cards if i had audio or video playing but no third party regular notifications.
I thought it was the android wear 2.0 update so i went back to 1.4 and still having the same issue....anyone else?
Let me know so i can see what my next step is.
Thanks!
I'm also having this issue with my Moto 360 1st gen on 1.4 and the N dev 3 preview.
I've tried reinstalling Android Wear and re-pairing the watch but neither helped.
Found out its a bug in the newest n preview. Nothing we can do about it for now
