[Q] Battery Issues - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well when I charger my phone and around 12-50% my phone would just switch off and would require charging again to turn the phone back on. It then says my battery is completely dead. Wierd thing is if I boot staight to the boot loader( vol down + power) the phone boot to the bootloader and not switcher off.
I previously tried different roms which still didnt help.
I tried different kernals (only help battery to last longer)
Tried another NEW battery (same issue)
Any help guys? Sorry for my newbier questions but at this stage I dont know what to do. I even tried the lastest version of L which is 5.0.2
I tried battery recalib but it didnt work, I will try to do on the latest version of android? Can any one tell me a good app? I used a random one off play store.

[Q] Epic powering itsself off! help?

Hey guys just wanted 2 start out by teling you that I am using dk28 and the newest viper rom. My phone had been working just fine until the other night. Then all of a sudden every time the screen times out the phone will power off. In order for it to power back on I have 2 pull the battery. The weird thing about this though is if the charger is plugged in it will not turn off.
I have already tried reinstalling the rom after a full wipe of the phone. I have also tried a different rom. Should I flash back 2 stock and see if this continues? If so can anyone provide a a link for the files needed in odin to do so.. thanks in advance!

[Q] Milestone 2 BRICKED, do not know what else to do. Help.

Hello Guys,
I bricked my Milestone 2 when trying to install the update for version Android 2.3.
It appers the Google logo when the phone starts, but it shuts off by it self.
When I try the recovery mode:
I get to it, but when I select the option of wipe data and reset to factory, does it start, but shuts off in the middle of the progress.
(When does it shut, I can turn back on easy)
When I try the bootloader:
Stuck saying that battery is low Can't program.
(I left the phone charging all day and I get the same message)
I do not know what to do anymore, some of the users here, says that is the battery.
But, the battery is bad or the phone is not charging?
When I plug the charger, the light turns on.
What do you guys think?
I already see the option in use the Nandroid Recovery, but I'm nor sure how to do it...
I do not have any friend with the same phone, so I will have to buy another battery or a universal charger, that I can charge the battery with out the phone.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Jeferson.
Wow, that was there so many times. For instance:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344740
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363918
in the sum some facts:
- you can't charge battery in bricked milestone 2
- you MUST have some charge in battery for SBF flashing via bootloader
1) you have to charge battery
2) you have to flash SBF via RSDLite
Milestone 2 hardbrick
First I upgraded the milestone 2 kitkat then disappeared until it was trying to downgrade and there it all began. No button works x vol + vol - @ all possible combinations already tried the rsd lite does not recognize the phone, adb and fastboot also not the phone, but makes up the sbf_flash is waiting for the phone in the end, the only thing q works is the LED side of the micro usb is solid and sometimes q could use rsd she appeared sw update in progress so but after that it also could not switch on the phone. I read a lot and could not find any case equal to staff]
Please help me
God bless us all ..
Thanks Hemerson
sorry about my english

[Q] Nexus 7 Wifi 2012 32GB Kitkat Stops booting/Soft brick?

Hi,
i never touched my Nexus 7 with any other ROMs or such. It was still rooted and kinda original. Now i can't do anything with it anymore.
I talked to the google hotline already and i was trying to start the bootloader which works fine, but nothing more.
1. When i choose Start, Restart Bootloader, Recovery Mode oder Power Off nothing happens, beside Booting failed (Recovery Mode).
2. When i start the phone just with the power button i just see the google logo.
3. When i plugin the power cable i don't see the battery for loading.
I got another device from google with horrorable battery power, so now i wanna try on my own the save my Tablet. I flashed my Galaxy Nexus and HTC HD2 couple of times, so i'm not a 100% Noob.
I was already looking in like 10 threads i found about problems nearly like mine, but i don't got the golden clue yet, sry.
I hope you can help me please.

I encountered identical problem on an N7 (2012) 32gb and try everything that I know how and always get the message ADB not found. Finally I use Skipsoft ToolKit and use option #9 Download, Extract and Flash Google Factory Stock Rom and it works . My N7 was returned to stock with latest firmware.. Of course you will lose all data and still have to unlock and root again
I am not a techie so I cannot explain the details but only share my experience.
I hope it will work for you

If you can't see the white battery picture when plugging in the power cable, I suggest you use AC power, and if you are, try using a different USB Micro cable.

[Q] Jiayu S3 semi-hard brick (NOT BY FLASHING), help needed

Hi all,
Yesterday my Jiayu S3 crashed and rebooted, after setting an alarm clock and using the Spotify app. However, it did not reboot into the OS as usual. It did not even show the Jiayu logo, but the phone vibrated (sign that it's booting), screen turned on, phone turned off again, repeating this cycle over and over (not the traditional bootloop as I know it). I was running a rom based on the original rom, with some slight modifications. This rom was running stable for more than a week. I know my way around Android, and am used to switching roms, flashing etc.
Right away, I checked the following things:
- Battery removal didn't help (I did not forget to put it in again ofcourse )
- Phone doesn't go into it's charging cycle when charger is connected
- I do NOT have access to recovery
- I can, however, access the boot menu (Volume up + power key, options: Normal boot, recovery, fastboot)
- I can get into fastboot mode (haven't tested ADB yet), that's the only thing that's still working
I tried to flash the original firmware using SP flashtool, and I am still able to upload firmware on the phone! I am sure that I'm using the correct ROM, and tried different PC's and drivers. Got a few succesful flashes, but still bootlooping.
I also had the idea that my battery was empty (didn't charge it overnight), and measured the battery at 3.52 V. So it was pretty empty but not that empty that it doesn't boot. In an effort to charge the phone, I left it bootlooping for an hour or so, and later on it turned out that it only drained the battery further, 2.99 V.
I didn't want to kill this battery so I did use 2 other batteries from an old Jiayu G4, which appear to work if you turn them around and hold them against the pins (note: I knew what I was doing here ). After a lot of Googling, and seeing a lot of generic "how to fix any brick" stuff I was not able to revive my phone again.
I still believe (and hope) that the error is on the software side of the phone. All the partitions should be ok and in working order according to SP flashtool.
Now this is where my knowledge stops and where (hopefully) your help comes in. What can be corrupted that I haven't checked yet? Do you guys have any suggestions to revive this "high-end" phone again? Once again, it did not happen because of bad flashing or something like that, it happened randomly when I was using the phone normally. I tried to be as accurate as possible (long story), but if there are any questions I'm happy to answer them.
Any suggestion is welcome!
Thanks in advance.

S4 bootloops on every rom, even after Odin stock flash.

Hello, I am having an issue with my S4.
I was having random reboot issues and my rom was quite old (omega 30 or something) so I decided to update my phone. I flashed stock from odin, then installed TWRP again and tried flashing roms. Roms previously would boot up to the point where I would setup android and then reboot. Now my phone seems to reboot almost directly after the "Samsung Galaxy S4" logo. Some roms have let me boot into the android setup but once the Mobile Network seems to try to connect, the phone reboots right away.
I have tried flashing 3 different stock roms thru ODIN and they all have the same issue. I have tried clearing cache/data in recovery but it hasnt helped.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks!
Might be a power button issue. A friend had a similar problem. The phone would boot and work for some time and then turn off.
At some point it just wouldn't turn on anymore.
It was the power button.

Thank for your reply!
Just curious, if it was the power button, wouldnt my phone also restart in recovery and in download mode? In both of those modes, there is no issue. I'm worried that I flashed a modem incorrectly some time in the past and that could be casuing me issues. If the stock rom passed in odin, shouldnt the modem be working correctly?

Stock roms have modems and bootloaders included. So it must be something else.

It's very odd. I have no problems getting into recovery or download mode, but absolutely anything I flash will not boot with any reliability and not for more than a few seconds. I was able to flash Omega 42.1 and that worked for about 30 minutes yesterday and then began bootlooping as well.
I have no ideas.
I hate when people solve their problems and don't follow up on their own threads so here I am to post my solution.
Turns out my battery was slightly swollen and causing the battery to disconnect and make the phone restart. I noticed this after a bunch of various testing with the phone plugged in and unplugged. The phone would work fine plugged in but within a minute of being unplugged it would turn off or reboot.
I purchased a new battery and have had no problems at all since, everything works great. When I compare my swollen battery to the new battery, you can see it is slightly swollen but hardly noticeable if they are not side by side.
Anyway, for anyone reading this thread in future, my solution was to replace the battery which had swollen.
