My brother bought the nexus 7 tablet and he was only using his Xperia neo for calls and hotspot.
So I suggested to switch phones since I don't have a tablet. Surprisingly, he agreed
But there's a test period to see if he can bare the lag
So right now I own a Xperia Neo, rooted it before inserting my sim card
I will still visit the wildfire section, but not so often as before...
Thanks to every one who helped me through my first experience with android journey.
Special thanks to slymobi, saadislam and elia222.
Finally, Eid Mubarak
Bye.

Epic device splurging time #cough#Nexus4#cough#
So I bought the xperia pro and gave the Neo back to my brother. Couldn't get something better as I was on a budget
Besides, I've always wanted that slide-out keyboard
My wildfire is now available for testing new roms, like CyanMobileX ROM, I am really amazed by the UI of this rom

Hi all,
the nexus 7 is my first nexus device (although I am drooling at the nexus 4 ),
but I was just wondering if anyone else, who has owned a different nexus device, could tell me how long you normally have to wait for the next version of android?.
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Some of the features will be available on the Nexus 7, some won't and you'll need to get a whole new device costing a small fortune to get the full update. It might break things along the way without giving you a way back.
....but then I remember it's Android and not Apple!

..... I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here.
Being part of the whole Nexus line, there's a good chance we'll get 4.2 pushed out when the Nexus 4 and 10 get released. Google will be keen to have its flagship line all under the same version.

I agree. Google made it pretty clear (to me at least) that the Nexus line will be receiving the 4.2 update. There was absolutely no mention of Nexus 7 not receiving certain aspects of the update. I would say that Nexus 7 would receive the update the same day the 4 and 10 are released as well.

This is a joke for you guys who don't get it. All Nexus devices get updated I think. I think even old ones like the Nexus S and all that.
Lol well if he meant it as a joke it didn't read like one. Especially since a new device owner was asking about something he deemed a legit concern. If it was meant as a joke then my fault.

I agree. Pretty dumb answer to someone asking a legitimate question.
Google was supposed to release the 4,2 update on October 29th, but according to Asus it has been delayed ever so slightly.Asus says to expect an update to android 4.2 very soon.

My friend is still on stock N7 and got the update within a week. My dad is still on his stock S3 and the update won't come till next year.
Edit: I'm referring to 4.1.2 and 4.1.

I think you are confusing 4.1.2 with 4.2.
As far as I know, no one will have 4.2 before 13 November.

Expect android 4.2 on November 11th to November 12th on the nexus 7
Hi,
Thanks heaps guys, as long as we with the n7 arnt left in the lurch for weeks after the update comes out on the n4
My friend has a nexus s, and he had to wait a few weeks after 4.1 was released before he got it, but our devices are newer I suppose
Thanks
Cheers

Unless you sideload, don't expect it on the 13th. OTA rolling updates can take up to a couple of weeks.

Got a reliable source on that? I'm guessing no because it's not true. Google has never released an OS on the day it was announced, and when they announce a new device, they never release the OS for older hardware until the new device is available. So the correct answer is to expect the update in the weeks following the N4/N10 release. Hopefully it will be out within a week, but it can take longer.
Google has said they will start rolling out 4.2 from Nov 11th, 2 days before new devices release.
Happy 2nd birthday to the Nexus S! Its been an amazing 2 years for development and I'm sad to say development will probably die out in the next two years

yeah i'm using since day 1. high 5.
Day one user here too. Great phone. Just wish it had more RAM -if it wasn't for that, I'd have no problem keeping this phone and never upgrading. Especially with the extended battery I got for it.

Mine has only 1 year and 2 month, i'm waiting for official Cyanogen 10.1 nightlies ^^

Personally, I've had mine for 15 months, and it's been my best phone, not solely because of the hardware, but because of all the awesome developers. You guys make this phone the best!

Not since day one but did have gs1 the year prior to this phone's release. We tend to forget that this phone is practically identical to the galaxy s- a phone that remained technically unrivalled for about a year prior to the nexus release.

This is my 2nd android phone and first nexus device. I love it in so many reasons. Its performance and the community support have made me stick with android. Its sad that Google will no longer support it and the hardware is kinda outdated. But NS have given me the best android experience. I don't own gnex because I really love my NS.

The NS does look really nice, the Nexus One looked good too! The N4 looks so uninspiring. If that design came out 2 years ago, it would have been awesome...but going into 2013, it looks kinda bland

I could easily see myself buying a "Nexus S2" with the exact same form factor and just upgraded specs... like a dual-core processor and LTE!
Bought mine on release day 2 years ago today! Love this phone. Easily the most ergonomic phone I've ever held in my hand. It is just so comfortable. Still on the original battery, never changed it. No hardware issues (except for that slight green line on the left edge of the screen). A trooper of a phone that has held its ground. Bought into the Nexus program for the Google updates and I have not been disappointed. The dev community is carrying us into 4.2 and beyond. It's been a great 2 years for Android. Look how far we've come. What a ride the Nexus S has been on! GB>ICS>JB
Bought mine on the first day it came out two years ago. This phone has been a beast and omg the awesome development. Though I'm not using it now (I got a GS3 about a month ago), it carries on its glory in my brother's hands. He's loving it! It's sad to probably see development will stop after 4.2. This phone is what a true Nexus phone should be.
Happy Birthday Nexus S! ??

I've had this phone now for about 14 months and is hands down the beat phone experience I've had... Rooted within my first month of having it and was running custom ICS ROMs all the way up til my current 4.2.1 Rasbean Jelly ROM... I don't think development will continue for another two years... I DO think it will get KLP, by port from a dev of course... But the Android updates really starting to catch up to the specs of the phone and were starting to see its limits... I do believe development could easily continue for +2 years... But i just don't see devs sticking around that long...
