**i attached a fast log when i try 3~4 times to SS.
im using Ressurection Remix 5.0, but i believe its not a exclusive bug for that rom, but all 5.0, for our G2 at least.

thanks for all who helped.
after some moments thinking in what could be blocking my SS, i try to wipe everything (includind the internal), and bingo, it works...
but i saw that doing that way, my internal memory is now mounted using another path... so if anyone have the same problem, try this:
reboot recovery -> wipe everything (cache|data|system|internal|dalvik) -> reboot recovery -> enable MTP -> copy rom|gapps|kernel|supersu (supersu/kernel optional) -> install those files -> reboot recovery -> wipe internal -> reboot system ->restore your internal memory files (if you backup).
first and second reboot are just to able you to enable MTP correctly.

Hi,
So I have been using my android for 6 month now and its all good. I have JF1.5 and offcourse its a rooted phone. I was travelling last week and so the phone was on roaming, I got back and turned data networks on and its all good. Except I noticed today that my phone has been constantly transfering data and it actually downloaded 500MB in only 3 days. My battery is being drained so fast, im not able to keep up with the recharge. So I had to actually delete the APN so that the phone no longer has data connectivity.
I looked up at the task manager and I couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. I closed everything up to only the android keyboard and the netcounter. Still I could see it downloading at full speed. So if anyone has any suggestion as to WHAT is it trying to download and Why ?? Please let me know.
Thanks abunch for any help !!
Update to JF 1.51.
I'm having the same issue, and I'm on JF1.51. The weird thing is, I did a manual flash and the version in About still shows as 1.5. Should 1.51 show up in there somewhere?
I've been without data for the past two days but I haven't had to charge my battery yet!
Do either of you have the SDK installed? If so, can you do us a favor and post your logcat?

If you flashed JF1.51 correctly your build number should contain "CRB43". JF version numbering is not 1:1 with Android version numbering.
in that case, I have JF1.51 installed...
OK, so I had 1.50. I updated to 1.51 now , I will keep monitoring this for the rest of the day and if it starts downloading like mad again, I will let you guys know. I really REALLYYY hope this will fix it.
I think I have SDK installed in my desktop computer, if thats what you were asking for, please provide instructions to extract a log and send it to you.
Thanks for the reply.... The reason I ask is two-sided.
Sometimes apps can be malicious and I want to make sure that it's not something that could be adversely affecting you and secondly... if by chance there was another update that hasn't gotten leaked ... you might be holding the key.
Now mind you this will only work if you are having more issues...
Connect your phone to your computer and open a command prompt. Type in ADB logcat and hit enter. Right click and hit enter. This will copy the contents to your clipboard. Paste them (CTRL+V) here.
If you need further help, feel free to IM me at ChicagoTransAm
Thanks alot for your help.......
So the bad news is that the problem is still their, the good news is I got the log. I attached it to this post, because it wouldnt fit as a code since it has lots of characters.
So the code attached was generated in about 1min. during which the phone downloaded around 2.5Mb. I changed the APN settings to the correct one (so that phone could connect) and then it immediatly started downloading. after about 1 min. or less actually I changed the APN name so that it stops working. You will notice that in the log file where the correct APN is etisalat.ae

It's not an update, it's something else. My guess would be Market is trying to download something. You can stop it by adding android.clients.google.com to the hosts file, but then you'd lose all market access.
right but wut could it possibly be downloading ? and why not everyone ?? this is wierd !
Guys......any thoughts ?? PLEASEEE !!
Maybe the GTalk app. Try playing with it... i dunno.
Don't wanna post other peoples work... so go get it yourself through ROM Manager.
Anyone tried this yet?
I have. Great ROM. But the Bluetooth is still choppy. Is there a fix for this. This is the one and only reason I can't use this ROM. I need Bluetooth.

Downloading it now. I've never used Rom Manager before and noticed there was CM 6.0.1, 6, and 6 RC3. Was CM 6 stable release newer than RC3? I've been on RC3 since it came out and it's been rock solid other than random reboots with wifi on.

Update
I did S-off, upgraded the radio to 2.15 and installed CM 6.0.1.
I overclocked to 1.152 and i got 1450 in quadrant. So far so good.
I connected it to my computer and it asked me to format the internal memory, only 760mb shows up as total space to format though. Any thoughts?
Edit: Now under phone settings it shows 0.00B for internal memory and i get notifications for low disk space.
Edit2: Restarted the phone and now i'm in a boot loop. Back to SR 2.5 for now.

That's great news! The instability / reboots made the previous versions nearly unusable for me. I look forward to trying this.
Does sling player work yet?
Could someone package an update.zip with the changes? I hate wiping for only a dozen lines of code when I JUST restored all my apps before 6.0.1 was released
Can anyone post the kernel version? I've heard that the kernel that comes with 6.0.1 isn't overclocked, however I'm still able to oc to 1.15
I did an install with no wipe, if the kernel and / or build number differs then I'll do a full wipe.

That's not the same as your 8gb of onboard storage. That's your app storage you really can't get to normally. If you installed the 6.0 final or 6.01 you will see your onboard 8gb storage in Astro File Manager. Main problem still exists though, the OS isn't scanning it for music and photos like it should. That's going to be fixed eventually.
This version is MUCH more stable for those who had reboots and black screen issues. It's only been about 12 hours but I haven't had an FC or any reboots yet. Just look forward to the fix mentioned above and Bluetooth getting finalized.
EDIT - an hour after posting this my phone was stuck with a black screen, no response for several minutes until it finally rebooted... oh well
Is there some way to partition the apps size larger? Can i delete something to gain more room? ive been googling and searching but cant find anything.
5 more posts until i can ask in dev board i guess
im hoping there is just some problem with the old default archos firmware and i can remove it. ive got some other problems now also but cant seem to find any similar issues.
Check your available memory. Settings/Storage
If it doesn't show much available memory you might need to reformat the device and try again.
tried twice already. when i load default archos firmware i can isntall apps fine, its only on uruk7 that i have no room.
My linux knowledge is pretty poor but im hoping someone can help me work through it.

This won't harm. But you've missed some of my questions and this makes helping much harder
You could clarify your free space by doing in terminal (if you don't have it - grab from appstore) or over ssh
Code:
df -h
This will tell you what is mounted on your device and how much spaces is used already. Application are installed in /data filesystem.
i just removed everything. ill try fresh sde and then right into uruk using the same steps as before.
Problem solved. I have nothing but uruk installed and i made large sized partitions when going through the advanced setup just incase.
thanks for the help along the way.
I just upgaded too, and I get the same no space response. However, I backed up all my apps to a folder and then I installed them on Uruk with no problems. It must be an issue with Market because AppLib and AppBrain (web) allowed me to install as well with no issues....

Yesterday I flashed maniac103's latest CM7 build. Before that I used a couple of Euroskank builds, after several months using Quarx/Eppy 7.1-11-11-11.
Today I have run into the Tombstone problem with no free space on the phone. I moved a couple of apps to SD, but the tombstone immediately fills out any empty space that I can create.
I've searched and the general advice is "delete the tombstone file". Great... except I can't find it? When I browse /data there is nothing there. Is this a permissions issue? Any advice on how to solve the problem and prevent it recurring?
I would be extremely grateful for some help, in simple english and with big pictures and chewable pages ideally...
Ok, I have managed to fix it myself. For any other challenged users, here it is
My problem was that the standard file manager could not see anything in /data
I tried using terminal, but equally that would not allow me to do an ls in /data (view a list of the files in /data).
This came down to a permissions issue.
Earlier on I had deleted Adobe Flash player, which seems to be regarded as the root cause of the tombstone problem. However, I still had no free space (at all - 0.00MB available). After removing Flash player, I uninstalled another app (google+ simply because I don't use it and it's big - 22MB). After uninstalling I had 14MB showing free, which allowed me to install Yaffs explorer. This allowed me to browse with superuser enabled - now I could see the contents of /data, and find the /data/tombstones folder, and find the 905MB file that was causing all of the problem. Deleting that file (tombstone_09 in my case) solved the issue.
Hopefully this will be of help to someone equally as clueless as I.
I just had this exact same issue. Inside the tombstone folder I had tombstone_00, tombstone_01, tombstone_02 and tombstone_03. The first 3 were about 60 Kb each, but the fourth one had 885 Mb. Deleted it and it's back to normal.
This is the first time having this issue, I was using CM 7.1 for almost a year and switched to CM 7.2 last month.
Thank you so much, had this issue, without your post I wouldn't know what to do
Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
Well, the problem has reoccurred, although I now have the tool to fix it.
So my next question...
What causes the problem? How do we stop it happening again?
maniac had been looking into it and told us, that he maybe screwed up on something when he compiled the build that was supposed to fix this issue.
The builds from yesterday on should limit the filesize of tombstones to 1MB correctly.
If it doesn't work, don't blame maniac for this, because it's Adobe's fault. maniac is simply not able to look into code from 3rd party apps.
I also had big tombstones especially when watching flash-videos in the browser. So far they're gone. But you could try to trigger a tombstone that way...

I'm not blaming maniac103 - I am extremely appreciative of the work he has done along with that of Quarx, Epsylon and others.
Last night I updated to 16th may build from Maniac, so will keep an eye on things.
I've been battling this for years now and am looking to the professionals for some help. I have been experiencing memory leaks associated with Android System (system_server) on 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0. I am using Cyanogenmod on a Samsung Galaxy S4. I can reproduce the issue after a clean flash with my normal application usage. After about a day or two, I can see system_server consuming over 300MB of RAM. Eventually the device starts swapping (kswapd0) and gets extremely slow and laggy. Applications will start crashing from the OOM killer. The only work around I've found to this is reboot the device.
I am fairly proficient with Linux and was hoping someone can point me to some useful tools to troubleshoot this. I would like to figure out what the root cause is. Anything I can grep from dmesg or logcat? Any commands I can run from adb to collect information? Any apps that can help analyze this over time? Anyone else experiencing this issue?
System_server is tied to Android System or Android OS?
Looking at my memory statistics, Android OS used about 300MB ram over the last hours, while Android System used only 88MB.
Android System is system_server. Currently mine is at 385MB after 42 hours of uptime.

Tabula rasa.
Even after changing roms, it appears that some residue remains.
I would go for a complete clean slate. Meaning flash stock rom with a pit file, which should entirely wipe the phone and everything on it, then you can go about and root it, and flash a custom rom again.

Flash stock using a PIT file. This will repartition the memory and completely wipe everything. You can't go much cleaner than that.

This offers no advantage over a format. If you format a partition, there are no files present.
Any thoughts on troubleshooting the issue? Any tools to debug the memory leaks? Any useful data in dmesg or logcat?
just looked at my own usage, android system shows 324 mb (I'm on AOSP 6.0.1 by JDCTeam). android isn't that efficient ! maybe others can pop by and list their own stats to show it isn't that unusual...

Yesterday I attempted to update my modem and bootloader, but in vain, because Odin kept giving me error messages.
Then, all of a sudden, it worked.
And all I did was: I kept disconnecting and reconnecting the cable and restarting Odin until it finally worked somehow.
So yeah, logic can fly right out the window with modern technology.
And to go into 3mel's comment, my android system shows a usage of 73 MB over the course of 1 day.
That being said, I do reboot my phone twice a day (switching batteries) so maybe that has something to do with the low memory usage.
