I have setup a tasker task I can trigger via commandr via the watch to refresh google now's feed (this way I can get bus times in MN via the watch since they don't show up automatically) I have to use touch commands because I don't know how to do it any other way. Is there another way?

There are all of these app's out there that allow you to control your computer from your phone (using VNC and others). This is all well and good....but there are no shortcuts to do anything on these apps. Whatever you are trying to do on your computer takes way too many screens/clicks to be truly efficient by using your phone. You most certainly are able to do it with your phone.....but hell...it was way more complicated than it had to be.
**DOES BELOW APP EXIST?**
I would LOVE to just touch a shortcut on my home screen that would send a couple of keystrokes to my computer. Or telling my computer to open a particular program from a shortcut created on my android phones Home screen. This would be amazing. I could tell my computer to run whatever task from my phone QUICKLY...without having to jump hoops through screenshots/mouseclicks/keyboard on VNC app's......
Using this, you would no longer need all these separate video/music player control apps...you could just wire hotkeys/scripts to be run to control ANYTHING. I could send a keystroke to minimize/maximize a window....pause iTunes....Give a song 3 star rating....open a particular site...
I'm just trying to turn my phone into a much better remote for my computer.....all current apps seem to fail horribly.
Hi,
I was looking for the same thing and came a cross a neat application to run on computer, AutoHotKey ( http://www.autohotkey.com/ ). Then I use MultiRemote to send keystrokes (like a hotkey, CTRL+P), programmed as one button in that program. Then on the computer side I have a script that knows what to do when that button is pushed Really powerful application with tons of features to program in the scripts...

just got a zenwatch this week and I can't figure how to control my nest with it. I've got the google now integration turned on, and when I tell my phone to "set the temperature to 70 degrees" it changes it, but when I tell my watch it just brings up web results. am I missing something?
nobody has an answer?
could be that the android wear commands aren't being fed to google now on the phone.
if you are on kitkat, try using xposed, google now api and autovoice to send android wear commands to google now on the phone.
latest google now api can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-google-search-api-t2554173/page42
when setting up my home automation system, i could not get voice commands via android wear to trigger events; commands via the phone worked fine. the above is what worked and is why i'm not upgrading to lollipop just yet (no xposed support for ART).
only option right now that i know of to feed android wear commands to google now on the phone on lollipop is via autowear and autovoice. works, but requires a few extra steps (as oppose to just "ok google, close garage door").
thanks, I've got 5.0.1. it just seems odd that there's no integration
I was wondering if it's possible to load these apps on the NP :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quickplay.android.bellmediaplayer
I have the APK, but I was wondering the rest of the process (like device restrictions, I know how to get the APK installed).
I tried that before and it didn't work. On a phone or tablet, the device has to be in portrait mode to even select a channel and since a TV is oriented in landscape mode, you won't be able to do much (if anything) with this app on the Nexus Player.
Let's try to make it work then, where you able to at least get the app installed ?
I tried this app again on my Nexus Player moments ago. It can be installed if you sideload it but there are multiple issues. 1) It doesn't work with just the NP remote so you'll need a mouse to get through some of the menus or you'll need to use something like DroidMote. 2) It will default to portrait mode which means that the menus will display sideways on your TV. 3) You can use an app like Ultimate Rotation Control or Set Rotation to keep it locked in landscape mode but either way, even after you log in and select a channel, there's no way to display the video in full screen mode so you'll only be able to see a small box of video in the corner of the screen. It's just not practical to use.
Just wanted to poke around and see what tasker profiles any of u guys are running on the NP. Not a novice here, my phone is full of profiles, just want to see what profiles have been working on the NP.
Thinking to start off by having task activate by time, to kill all running apps (since we don't have recent apps etc.) Or either reboot device at certain time to start fresh every day....
I love tasker. is your NP rooted?
I also love tasker !
When there wasn't the option to reboot, I set an autoremote command to reboot the NP sending the command from my smartphone. Now function is included in the settings so it's less useful ...
I also tried to set an autoremote command to change the search button behavior on the remote, but I was not able to do that ...

I have an android wear watch, huawei watch, is there a way to get commands taken by google now on the watch passed to your phone? On my phone i can use google now voice commands to change the temperature on my nest thermostat, when I try the same command on my watch I just get google search results. I also have multiple tasker tasks set to run from google now commands, through auto voice. is there a way to use those same commands on my watch, have it pass the command to my phone, and have my phone run the task?
Thanks in advance!
