[Q] SM-N910K vs SM-N910U - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I currently own two note 4 devices, SM-N910U and the korean SM-N910K. Of course the korean version did get the lollipop update and now the carriers are selling the device as 64bit device. I live in Korea, so I went in the store to ask about that and they were talking about how lollipop itself recognizes 64bit capable cpus as 64bit even though it's not enabled. Due to the tri-band LTE A carrier aggregation, 64bit needs to be enabled to process twice as many SSEDS datas coming from cell towers. Can anyone verify this fact? I am very curious because if this is the case, SM-N910U will be 64bit after the lollipop update, which is so awesome to me and probably for many others.

i call BS. if youre not running a 64 bit kernel you arent in 64 bit mode. run CPU-Z and see if its in 64 bit mode.

I ran CPU-Z and it says 64bit yes. I will post a picture whenever I get off the new member status on xda forums. I can't post pictures cause I am a new member.

post it on flickr and post up a link without http.

Hello there i got sm-n910k as well i live in uk i got 3 three sim card . All find . How i can update my phone with lolipop? And is 64 bit? You are sure about that? What is the benefits of 64 bit processor? Thank you in advice

I purchased two from T-Mobile, and they both said made in Vietnam. I had to return one due to a faulty GPS and camera, and the placement came back made in China, and the sticker that lies under the battery was completely different than the one from Vietnam. Both are model N910T.

Q: Which markets are getting the 64gb internal storage version

Had anyone heard of which markets are getting the 64gb internal storage version? Samsung has already advertise that a 64gb version will be releases but local retailers have no info on the matter.
Some obscure Asian markets and probably some sheikhs in UAE, Dubai and Iran.
As always, it will be available in 64gb in some obscure market on the other side of the planet
Thankfully it's 32gb minimum which softens the blow compared to the usual

If anyone finds out which country gets N9005 (LTE, Snapdragon 800 version) with 64GB internal storage, that supports LTE bands 4 and 17 (AT&T) - please post here.
To answer question in the OP - Samsung UK and Australia already published official specs for their Note 3 version, as well as their carriers, and those countries offer the 64GB model. I'm sure more to come.
Unlikely to see 64gb version compatible with USA lte. And the slight chance you do expect to pay big big bucks. Unless a dev version comes out or a carrier picks it up.
And yet Samsung is releasing a GN3 16GB in Hong Kong, no word if they will get a 32GB GN3 at all. How odd is that.
bump...anyone has a list of markets, which are getting the 64GB internal storage Snapdragon 800 version? Not asking for speculations, only if you have the actual info, please

Just found this one.
Very expensive, will call tomorrow to verify 64Gb internal memory. Not sure I'll be getting it at this price though, may wait a while.

Thanks for sharing. When you call ask them the following questions:
- Is bootloader locked?
- Is is region locked?
- Is it carrier network locked?
- Why the hell the specs page says "Octa Core 2.3 GHz Processor " if it's N9005, LTE version?

The person I spoke to didn't have a clue.
She stated all the phones come unlocked and not locked to any carrier, didn't know anything about bootloader locking.
Asked about the processor and she started to talk about processing the order.
Asked about the CPU and all she said was it is all in the specification page.
I asked if the phone would work on the Australian Telstra 1800MHz 4G LTE network and she said, "yes definitely".
I'm still in two minds. I need to step back and wait a few days on this decision, it's a lot of money for a Phablet/portable computer.

Looks like you didn't do a very good job when calling these people. Exynos SoC does not have LTE modem, so there is no N9005 LTE version with Octa core chip. That is clearly a mistake in the specs and you can take it to the bank. The person you spoke to has absolutely no technical knowledge, if you pointed out that CPU mistake and she still referred you to the specs page. Therefore the crediblity of her satement the phone works on Telstra's LTE network is zero.
I don't understand how you can even consider buying such an expensive device, without knowing what CPU it has, if it's region locked or not, if bootloader is locked and how much internal memory it has. I'd suggest calling back and asking to speak to person, who understands technical specifications of the product they sell - they gotta have staff members who do.

Go top Mobiciti.com.au. They tell you the actual radio bands for each model, and if it will work on Telstra/Optus 4g (a major Q by customers these days). The N90005 does. As far as I am aware, the others ('00 = Otca, '02 = dual sim) do not.
[edit: OK, the 64GB is not for sale in Oz yet, if ever, but they have the info, anyway)

Richard; Hi, I have a few questions regarding the 64Gb Galaxy Note 3 PRODUCT CODE HOSS00073BK
Customer Support For more great discounts, please check our other website: http://www.camerasky.com.au/

Jo; Hello
Richard; Hi Jo,
Richard here,
I was speaking to someone earlier today about your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE 64GB Black (4G). PRODUCT CODE HOSS00073BK.
I am very interested in buying this, however I have a few concerns.
A) Samsung has put 2 CPU models out for this phone
1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 which is Quad core @ 2.3 Ghz
2. Exynos 5 which is an Octa Core 5420 @ 1.9 Ghz
Samsung has not released a model that has Octa Core @ 2.3 Ghz as stated in your specification page
B) The other concern is that The Octa Core version that Samsung released does not support LTE, only the Quad Core version does.
The person I spoke to was in the process of referring the matter to her technical team for clarification.
She was also going to ask the technical team if the phone has a locked “Boot loader”
Sorry for the long post, Hope you can help
Jo; Thank you for contacting us. I see, Allow me to check this with our Technical team, your question may have also been sent to them. One moment please
Richard; I had to go to work ealier and so could't finish the conversation, I appreciate your time
Jo; I see. I am checking now Richard
Richard; thank you
Jo; Hello Richard .Thanks for waiting
Richard; Thats fine
Jo; Our technical team advised that it has a locked bootloader
Richard; Okay thanks for that, Any news on what type of CPU is in it? The Quad Core 2.3Ghz or the Octa Core 1.9Ghz?
Jo; About that, im still waiting for their advise
Richard; Okay Thanks
Jo; Hello Richard. Thanks again for waiting. They just advise that its Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400
Richard; That's Great news, I means the phone will work with the LTE. one other question. I know the European phones are having issues with region locking and was wondering if this phone also is region locked?
Jo; No Richard, all the phones are unlocked"
Thanks for the update, although pasting full convo is not really necessary. Summarize it next time - people dont wanna read long posts. As far as bootloader being locked - I suspected as much, confirmation was just a formality. Samsung USA support supervisor confirmed to me there will be a developer edition of GN3 later on, so I hope Samsung makes one with 64GB of internal storage as well.
As far as your last question goes from that live chat - based on his/her response that person doesn't know what "region lock" is and was referring to carrier network lock when he/she said it is unlocked. Next time if you get a response like that - clarify or even paste them these links:

Bump...it's been confirmed the Australian 64GB version is not region locked, but the 2 major online retailers I asked said it has locked bootloader. Anyone know if there are any places in Australia, which sell the 64GB LTE model with unlocked bootloader?
EDIT: make it 3 major online retailers - just got response from Kogan. Their Notes also have locked bootloader
If someone knows of a country where they sell 64GB internal storage N9005 model, or has a link for a store that is selling it (preferably in stock, not pre-order) - please post here

I really wanted a 64gb, I ended up getting the 32 exynos from mobicity (australia). As far as I can tell the 64 isnt available anywhere in the world at the moment, and none of the handful of sellers Iv spoken to have any idea about when/if theyre going to get it. The more reputable online stores such as mobicity dont put a placeholder up unless they know for sure theyre getting it, and if there is an issue they will call you (Today i got a call from mobicity saying the galaxy gear lime green i ordered may not be coming in for a while, they dont know when they will get stock but they have black in stock so they can ship me one of those immediately if i prefer.)
That store you posted is clearly a case of clueless people writing up a placeholder item sheet for an item they have heard about and assume they will get since samsung announced it, but know nothing beyond that. If the specs page is poorly written and incorrect and it says "available for preorder", that should tell you all you need to know...
I don't think my phone has any kind of reigon lock - it didnt have any kind of reigon sticker on the box and from what samsung and mobicity have said I gather no sticker means no lock. Perhaps only asia pacific models are reigon free?
EDIT: I missed Apo11on's post, IF kogan's ones are bootloader locked I imagine mobicity's and anyone else's are the same. Unless there is a difference between the exynos and snapdragon as far as region locking.

Looks like you were dead on with that prediction. Here is a Qatar listing, where seller claims to sell 64GB Note 3: http://www.qatarliving.com/mobile-devices/mobile-phones/advert/samsung-galaxy-note-3-64gb
And here is Samsung UAE specs page for Note 3, which *does* list the 64GB internal storage version: http://www.samsung.com/ae/consumer/mobile-phones/mobile-phones/galaxy-note/SM-N9005ZKEXSI-spec
Can anyone from that region actually confirm Note 3 is being sold with 64GB of internal storage?
I can't confirm but that is often the case. Middle east and Asian markets usually get the bigger storage versions. If you have connections with T-Mobile you can try to get them to order you one. Need a sales rep with connections or know how.

[Q] How to verify if it's a Clone? / Weird IMEI (SM-N9006)

Hi there,
I currently have an LG G2 that I paid 330$C a week ago and I found someone with a Galaxy Note 3 like new that his aunt gave him and that he finds too big blah blah blah
Now, it's a very interesting offer because I'm missing so badly my S2's removable battery and extensible sd card, and also worth nothing that some people then trade Galaxy Note 3 for Galaxy S5
Now, I'm supposed to see the dude tomorrow to do the trade, but 2 things made me unsure if it's a legit unit or a clone. First, the IMEI he told me points to a Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000, on two sites I checked, the IMEI says it's a tablet but that it's compatible to the network. Is it possible that this is indeed a Note 3 with an IMEI recognized as a Note 10.1?
Secondly, the model number he told me it is is the SM-N9006, which is a China model from what I've read on the internet. WCDMA version. Now I think there's no problem for that to work with my network (Bell Canada), altho I'm really unsure for LTE compatibility. I didn't find reliable source for complete specification sheet on this model. Maybe someone here can give me light about the bands it uses and if it's really the SnapDragon 800 version?
Now since we're in Montreal here in Canada, I wonder why and how could he buy a China model in here, that's curious. And the IMEI pointing to other samsung device? What's up with this do you guys think? Is it a phone that is gonna give me troubles or could it be fine and the real deal??
How to check if it's a Clone? What about the IMEI? If I ask him to install the Antutu app before we meet and that I run it and it scores 30 000+ and that the specs in the app say it's the snapdragon 800 procesor and 3gb RAM, could I believe it's the real deal? Because clones won't show with the real deal's procesor and RAM? And if I try it with my micro SIM card and that it works and I can make call and use internet, am I safe to go home with this phone knowing it's the real specs and work on network?
Big thanks for anyone helping me out with this!
First there's none WCDMA network in China...
China developed their own 3G system called TD-SCDMA...
And super king copy phone can display real phone info...
IMEI doesn't lie. Maybe the IMEI is cloned/tampered....
There's an app here in XDA (forgot where, its in Note 3 threads) that can check if its fake or real...

Very simple.
Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, go to 'Refurbishment Check' menu.
Honestly it sounds sketchy. I buy and sell phones as well as repair them and checking the iemi is the best thing to do. If it comes up with something else like it did in your case I would run away from it.

Exynos vs Snapdragon 805 difference

So I'm really confused here. I'm planning on getting the Note 4 when it comes out and here in Europe, I get to choose between the Exynos model (64-bit) and the Snapdragon 805. So is 64-bit really THAT important for Android L? I don't really care about development support for the Snapdragon 805, I just want the more powerful device. Both versions will feature an LTE modem only the Snapdragon one is Cat6 and the Exynos one is Cat4. In my country LTE is just starting to roll out so that doesn't make any difference for me. Should I get the Exynos model because it's 64-bit?

No need upgrade to Android L, Exynos is more powerful than Snapdragon!
I don't know how to interpret the results properly.
How about the poor memory performance of Exynos, what do the benchmarks indicate.

don't get your hopes to high about 64 bit CPU. From the screenshots of the Exynos Note 4 CPU uses ARMv7 instruction set and for the 64 bit functionality ARMv8 is required. So looking at this and lack of any official work from Samsung I highly suspect that it will be 32 bit CPU with more cores. Also it doesn't make sense to release two so different CPU version since the Exynos version will be eligible for Android L update, but Snapdragon will not(or at least it was the rumor that Android L will work only on 64 bit CPU)
the screens from Exynos Note 4 show 32 bit CPU with 8 cores.... http://www.eprice.com.tw/mobile/talk/4523/4912030/1/rv/samsung-galaxy-note-4-review/
I think I might be skipping on the Exynos and go with snapdragon since that what I can get locally in Canada, a big disappointment for me since I wanted to get 64 bit Exynos (for android L )

It looks like a substantial victory, sometimes >30% in some benchmarks for the Exynos. Does the Mali GPU similarly dominate over the new Adreno?
My big concern is the development of the Exynos vs the Snapdragon; concerned that there maybe CyanogenMod and AOSP based ROMs might have issues with the Exynos version (they had difficulties I remember with the Note 2)? Samsung I remember had really poor documentation for its Exynos SOCs, which could be an issue.

What carrier are you on? Any idea if the Exynos version will work on Wind Mobile?
To be honest, this phone seems underwhelming in some ways. The Note 4 did not offer water proofing and it was not a huge upgrade over the Note 3 specs-wise. Plus the lack of ARMv8 instruction set SOCs ...
But the issue is there really isn't much competition in the Android phablet space these days. The One Plus One is unobtainable for most of us and well the others are not on par with the Note.

I'm with Fido, probably will have to get unlock Note 4 once it will reach Canada. But assuming that Wind Mobile has Note 3 its highly likely Note 4 will come to the Wind Mobile as well, maybe with some delay though.
All the great things about better performance of Exynos vs Snapdragon is awesome of course, however will you really notice the difference in usage ? I have SGS3 international which I compared to the north america's dual core didn't see much difference in performance of everyday tasks. In addiction to that most of the places don't have LTE-A so snapdragon is pretty much has no gain in network speed and will perform the same as Exynos(at least in Canada where we have only LTE network)
So now the question really is whether its worth going through the pain of getting international Note 4 region locked, deal with it , pay extra $$$ for the Exynos which lacks 64 bit instruction set and in terms of everyday performance you won't notice the difference ?
What I really wonder about is the difference in battery life between those two versions ?

Instruction set ARMv7 is in ARM Cortex A53 and ARM Cortex A57. I have been play with HTC Desire 510 64bit for a while in shop. Installed Antutu and it show ARMv7 in details.
ARMv7 is read from OS as Android 4.4 is 32bit.
IF Exynos 5433 is 64 bit, we will have more with Android L

I don't know about Canada but here in Europe I get to choose between the both models if you're not buying it from a carrier. Last year for the Note 3, the Snapdragon one was just a little bit more expensive than the Exynos model.

last two galaxies that I owned I got from online store ... so depends what you call wildly expensive, but definitely it will cost you some extra $$$. Does any one know which region Exynos version will belong ? from the website that I got my international SGS3 they told me that most likely they will get Snapdragon edition .....
I'm interested in the Exynos version if it will be faster and have better battery life. I'm still confused by the network support, however. It seems like the Exynos version will only have LTE Cat 4 while the Snapdragon version will have LTE Cat 6. Are there actually any carriers in North America on Cat 6? I didn't think so. Will the Exynos and Snapdragon versions support the same LTE bands? More importantly, will there be an Exynos version that with UMTS pentaband support (including 1700 and 1900 bands?) I assume the SM-N910T (T-Mobile) will be Snapdragon.

There are barely any states that supports Cat6. Most don't even support Cat4. Take a look at this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
If you look at the dates you can see that many countries are only now receiving Cat3.

I bought my unlocked International Note 2 from Expansys.ca and it was at least $100 cheaper than the carriers, including priority shipping.
I'm likely going to do the same with the Note 4.

Thanks for the heads up. I pre-ordered a 32gig black version . The price is not listed but they give you the option to cancel the order if it's not what you want.

Just pre-ordered from Expansys. Looking at my Note 2 order, I got it the day after they shipped with the express ship option (approx. $27). Hope this comes out soon! :victory::victory:

I paid for express shipping as well. The only issue is that they dont mention which model it is. I have emailed them to ask.
For your Note 2, though it was unlocked, was there any type of carrier branding on the case or in the OS?
Thanks for the info.

Please let me know when you get an answer.
For my Note 2 there was no carrier branding, other than the Samsung logo on the top of the device and on the back. Worked like a champ on Virgin Mobile, but this model (N-7100) doesn't have LTE. It'll be nice to have it on the Note 4!
From experience from having exynos galaxy phones and the same phone with snapdragon I always found the snapdragon phones to be more reliable and have less delay but when I had the exynos S4 the camera sensor and audio chip was better (wolfson vs qualcomm). This was important for me but I will not get a exynos phone again as Qualcomm in my opinion are the leaders in Chipset. 801 being a let down though due to overheating!

[Q] Strange info, is my S4, I9506 or SGH-I337(I9505)?

Hello everyone,
I got my S4 from UAE. On Box its written, Galaxy S4 I9506, 4G+. About menu also shows I9506, but Odin Mode (Download Mode) shows SGH-I337.
According to Specs, major differences between I9506 and SGH-1337 (which is also I9505) are;
S4 GT-I9506
Chipset Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800
CPU Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400
GPU Adreno 330
4G+
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps
LTE Cat4 150/50 Mbps
----------------------------------------------------------
S4 SGH-I337 (GT-I9505)
Chipset Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600
CPU Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300
GPU Adreno 320
4G
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps,
LTE Cat3 100/50 Mbps
As written on Box its 4G+ having 2.3 Ghz QuadCore but using Apps like Hardware Info, Droid Info, CPU-Z, shows 1.9 GHz and Adreno 320. Furthermore some AT&T stuff is there but its not locked I am able to use Pakistani Sims on it. There is no update option available from the phone menu and Kies show Device as GT-I9506 and Firmware version as I9506XXUFNB7. All concern images are attached.
Please let me know what should i consider my phone I9506 or SGH-I337 in order to root and flash it.
My phone is running GPE rom. It's a GT-I9505 but, because of the rom, it shows in the menu that it's a GT-I9505G.
So I'd say that your phone has the wrong firmware installed.

Still confused, so is it I9506 or I337? and what can I do to fix it? because the warranty is not void. The wrong firmware came from the manufacturer?
I'd say it's an l337. The hardware doesn't lie.
Contact UAE and tell them about the issue.

and should I consider it from AT&T? its not locked to carrier but as AT&T stuff is there.
Since the phone may have the wrong firmware, it may have the firmware of an AT&T one.
Did you buy the phone as new?
But you should definitely contact UAE about it.
You paid for one phone and they sent you another. There are some performance differences.
As others have mentioned, the hardware does not lie. This is an AT&T S4 (SCH-I337) that has been packaged in a I9506 box.
However, to be 100% certain, go to this site and enter the IMEI number into the form. The results you get will provide a significant amount of detail about the phone, including who the original carrier was. In fact, the site is what told me that my I9505 was an O2 phone that had been unlocked. In your case, if you enter the IMEI, I suspect it will report the phone as being an AT&T phone.
From there, contact whomever you need to in order to resolve this, as what you received is different from what you expected.

if it is SGH-1337, how does the about menu shows GT-I9506 as model number? Also the sticker (under the battery) on the backside of phone has written GT-I9506
IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (i removed for security reasons)
Serial Number: xxxxxxxx (i removed for security reasons)
Model: GT-I9500
Division: Mobile Phone (HHP)
Production Date: July 17, 2013
Ship Date: July 24, 2013
Phone Age: 1 Year(s), 6 Month(s), 26 Day(s)
Factory Warranty Coverage: October 17, 2014
Now according to the site you provided its GT-I9500 and I9500 has 1.6GHz Exynos CPU, PowerVR GPU and no 4G LTE but as hardware doesn't lie mine has 1.9 GHZ Qualcomm, Adreno GPU and has 4G LTE.
More confused now, how to verify it now?

I told you. If you put the firmware of another phone on it, it will show up as the model from which you got the firmware.
And this can also be achieved by modifying the build.prop, I think.
As I said, I have a normal GT-I9505. But since I installed a Google Play Edition rom, the about phone menu shows my phone as an GT-I9505G. And every app also shows it as an GT-I9505G. Even AnTuTu. But it is not an GT-I9505G.
Why do you necessarily need to know what phone it is?
You obviously got the wrong one.
You paid for an GT-I9506 but got an some kind of Frakenphone (Frankenstein) instead.
Contact the vendor, tell them they sent you crap. There is obviously something wrong with the phone.
And, as I said, the hardware doesn't lie. I don't think you can make hardware pretend it is something else. E.g Make an octa core processor pretend it's a quad core. Or make the PowerVR chip show up as Snapdragon. I don't think it's possible.

by UAE i meant United Arab Emirates, I am now in Pakistan, I can't go back to replace it. The only reason I want to confirm it is to root and flash and custom recoveries roms stuff etc
so I don't want to apply the wrong files to a different hardware.
And what I'm worried about the Hardware Apps we use get the information REALLY from the hardware? or it gets it from Firmware or build.prop? as in your case Antutu shows it as GT-19505G but in fact its I9505. And now the IMEI checking shows its I9500 so I just want to confirm the hardware model so that I can proceed with rooting etc.
There has been a run of these frankenphones and every time someone gets one I tell them to return it, because it's too much hassle trying to get it working. Since you can't return it, sell it for parts on ebay and buy a phone from a reputable source. Even if you figured out every last detail of this frankenphone, certain things will never function on the phone due to location, i.e. LTE.
Which root method would you people suggest keeping in mind the current situation?
Nothing here. You'll need to head over to the AT&T S4 forums on XDA to root your frankenphone, as unlike the I9505 the bootloader is encrypted, i.e. locked.

World S8/8+ = 4gb RAM 64gb ROM -vs- China S8/8+ = 6gb RAM 128gb ROM

Ouch! Why will there be a difference?
"China to Get High-End Version of Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM"
Could it be that the market has more competitive Phone choices?
I was looking for the 128Gb version because I kept seeing it would be released and the only version Tmobile is releasing is the 64Gb version. Seemed odd.
I think its retarded too, they should of just sold one model (6GB RAM/128GB) worldwide. When I had a Mate 9, I had to buy the CHN version for 6/128 compared to the normal 4/64. I might have to do it again if the CHN version supports all of TMO LTE bands. One thing I've experienced with CHN vs US phones is I get better reception with the US version even though the CHN supports all of TMO bands.
It's costs, it's probably cheaper over there, the price increase for 6gb/128gb in the UK would make the S8+ nearly 1000 quid!!!!!
Don't know what's going on... I'm in China and will hopefully grab one once they are up for sale... Worries me that there are no pre orders yet. Also... Needs to have an exact HK variant. If they aren't the same model as the HK variant, then I won't be able to exchange firmware, and then there is no way I will put myself through the torture of a phone without Google.NO WAY! I guess I'd wait until summer to pick up the 4gb version in my home country... Probably the metaphorical smoke will have cleared by then and things will have calmed down a bit to see what battery life is like. Worried I'll purchase another battery lemon like what happened to my 6p... Man, that battery died in a year and a bit.

Chinese model = no warranty so thats a deal breaker for me
6GB vs 4GB RAM you probably wont notice the difference in real world use
You can buy a 128GB SD card for much less than the difference in RRP between world and chinese models
Finally will the chinese model support the LTE bands required for your region and carrier?
Too many unknowns for me
it my have a global modem that supports all bands (bar cdma in the sd 835). agree, you wont notice much of a difference between 4/6 gb...
Will 6gb affect battery life in a negative way? I still doubt this will happen, but nonetheless, don't mind investigating thoughts on this matter.
Things to remember if you get the CHN version is no warranty, stuck on CHN ROM unless you root and install a different ROM and possible no wifi calling if your US carrier supports it.

I agree that being stuck on CHN firmware is a horror show if you are not a Mandarin/Chinese language user.
From another perspective, so long as there is a HK firmware for SAME model number, you should be able to change firmware to HK firmware from CHN Firmware using ODIN. Pretty simple process. I have managed to do this on several Samsung phones no worries. Only with the C7 (2016) did I recently come across some weirdness that was solved by an XDA member who prescribed a relatively painless ordering of ODIN processes.
However, Samsung used to have weird China only models that did not have a HK firmware variant... which completely sucked - My Note 4, SN-9108v was a horrible experience due to this firmware and model isolation practice. Also, there are some phones that are only sold in China and only come again with Chinese Firmware (possibly the C9 pro (2017) is an example - can't remember). If Samsung have chosen the same isolationist Chinese model practice for s8, then avoid it like the plague... You'll be buying into a joyless and expensive sans google experience that will only be tolerable with decent Mandarin skills to enjoy the plethora of Chinese app store equivalents to google.
At this stage, I cannot find any reliable links to Chinese and HK model numbers. Perhaps a Chinese based Mandarin XDA user can clarify. I am very interested in preordering this mythical Chinese s8+, but I am not in the industry and am a little time poor in terms of being able to research this. There certainly seems to be very little reputable information (in English) or easily found reputable information (via translate) that details exactly when or how pre-orders in China or HK will operate. Just unsubstantiated re-reported links and news stories about the 6Gb variant and blah blah blah.
Would be really great to hear from someone legitimately more informed than me in this matter.
Cheers!

128gb available in Korea ... interesting. Fingers crossed this type of deal pops up in China (and importantly, HK).
SM-G955NZKESKO/
That is because China has many local brands provide adequate device with only one third price. If you can maximum your specks. You will fail there!
Nope. I'm off the Sammy train. Thinking Xperia xz premium
Read an article that says Samsung is mulling over bringing the 6Gb to the US and other markets besides China / Korea. If this happens I would like to know who made the original not to release in other markets so I can kick then in the nuts.
I don't care if it is 4GB or 6. Just so long as it is NOT Snapdragon. Speed tests seem to already be confirming that the typical $#!++y ram management is still present in the Snapdragon S8 and S8+ phones. Also; If I were to buy the Snapdragon model, I would not be able to activate mobile hot spot on Cricket. You can with International phones (Exynos).
I wonder how much extra battery the 6gb version uses. I remember the ram upgrade ont he Uni used to eat battery.
