I've managed to install Firefox OS (V1.0) on my ZTE Pulse (ZTE T790, locked to Telstra).
I used Cydia Impactor to root my phone, then adb and fastboot to unlock the bootloader and install a CWM recovery.
I was looking for an Android Rom to flash but only found roms for the V790 (similar phone, dual SIM). One or two worked but none could see the SIM card.
While looking around I found a couple of zip files for Firefox OS. The first one booted but touch didn't work. The second zip booted and runs well.
Everything seems to work except for the 4 soft buttons; two work but with the wrong function and two don't do anything. Bluetooth doesn't see other devices although other devices can see the phone. Some screen flicker in some apps.
I haven't been able to update the OS. Most update zips won't install using recovery; I'm still playing with them using adb.
Here is the download link for the FirefoxOS I used.
I should mention that installing this ROM via SD card changes your recovery to CWM V6.0.3.6
Update: Bluetooth works
Thanks, where did you find it?

Thanks allot mate! How long ago did you manage to do this? I have been looking for a rom for a while now but not gone as far as editing a ZTE V790 to fit the T790.
Please let me know the download link of the Firefox OS that worked (with some bugs)
and if you manage to work the bugs out please keep us posted!
Btw this capcha is killing me, maybe, maybe I am not Human?

I didn't have to edit anything...it just worked. I'm not a developer, just a fiddler.
I've put the download link in the first post.
Thanks allot mate, but
Thanks allot mate, just to clarify you are saying that you managed to make phone calls from your device?
When you flashed the phone was it locked or unlocked?
I cannot get reception/sim registration on my T790 that I flashed with the rom you found and one annother person found, It could be me but I thought I better check

Phone was locked to Telstra when I started. I assume it was still locked after rooting although where I live only has Telstra so I couldn't get a different SIM to check. The Telstra SIM worked fine for calls and data.

Sorry, can't remember which CWM recovery I used initially. (I've since bricked that phone.) There are recovery files with instructions here https://ztev790support.wordpress.com/instructions/instructions-for-flashing-recovery/and here http://v790.blogspot.com.au/. These recovery files are for the V790 but they worked fine on my T790.
As in the first post use Cydia Impactor to root the phone, then adb and fastboot to unlock the bootloader.

Hi guys,
I need your help because I'm a complete newbie in this field. 2 yrs ago I rooted my HTC 816 with CWM and unlocked the bootloader (my current system is 4.4.2, htc sense 6.0, ver. 1.60.401.1, htc sdk api 6.21, cwm-based recovery v6.0.4.7) ). I would like to upgrade my system but cant do it without unrooting the device. Unfortunately I dont know how to, coz the option with fastboot doesnt work. I can only manually get to hboot option. Can you guys plz tell me what to do to get to factory settings and be able to upgrade my software the official way? Thanks in advance for a "for dummies" explanation. Best regards!

If your version is the single sim a5_ul version( verify in your bootloader or in about phone in your settings first) here's a tutorial with links for restoring stock recovery and rom. Obviously your still on your stock rom so just unroot through your SuperSU or Superuser apps settings then flash back your stock recovery over your custom recovery. Relock your bootloader then upgrade your stock rom through OTA . You can't flash a higher rom from this tutorial without your phone having S off. Just unroot then flash back your stock recovery , lock bootloader then do OTA update. Good luck.

thanks a lot for a quick response, my version is a5_ul with S-ON so i will try the procedure You gave me and inform soon

Do you have USB debugging ticked on in your phone's developers settings?
Do you have Java on your computer?
Either of these 2 things could be the reason it's not recognizing your phone because it should be able to.

No don't try step 3b. You'll need to get your device recognized through ADB first but really you should unroot the phone first then get it recognized 2nd then flash back the stock recovery file from that tutorial then relock your bootloader and then you should be able to just update through your stock system or HTC sync manager. If that fails for whatever reason then and only then should you try to flash the stock image from this tutorial. First though you've got to get your device recognized or nothing is going to work so just keep trying on that front.
uffff, I finally managed to do this but it took me many hours Thanks a lot for your help!! It seems <although I aint sure> that the problem was with the java version installed on my notebook. I installed 64-bit and after removing it I installed 32 bit, reinstalled apk and htc drivers, and adb saw my device! I then used supersu to unroot, locked the bootloader and got stuck. But then I copied the zip file into my sd card <another problem was that - I dont know why - but I couldnt copy the 1.2 gb zip file into my sd card so I changed the extension to .txt, copied and changed back to .zip; another another problem was that the file downloaded from the above mentioned tutorial was corrupted. I tried 2 times but it didn't work so I googled another file with the same name and it worked>. All in all, now I have a stock android 6.0 and Im very glad. Thank you very much for your help once again, best regards!

I am looking unlock and root my European Axon 7 running Android 7.1, and all of the guides seem to be for The US version and for Android marshmallow, do I need to revert my phone to an older version (if so how would I go around doing so?). Is there any up to date guides for rooting my version of the phone?

I used this guide 2 weeks ago to unlock my wife's german axon 7, her phone was on 7.1 stock too, but no issue, you don't have to be on marshmallow. Only advice I can give you is to read the guide 2 times or more and take your time.
Btw after you done everything use the b05 modem, my wife has no call issues with this version. I flashed the dark rom to her phone, works nearly perfect.

Why though? I also used that one, but you should try axon7toolkit. It seemingly does everything automatically and with an ok CMD interface

Yes that's a nice option too, but reading, understanding and knowing what you're doing always works. I'm not a fan of Kit's.
personal choice I think. But you're right.

It seems like very few people actually use the kit. Kinda defeats the purpose.
But yeah, that guide was how I learnt how to install TWRP via axon7tool whenever I needed it.

Step by Step, I managed to unlock it and flash the bootstack, but I hit an error when trying to flash LOS and so decided to reboot the system and try again, however when rebooting the system I got the error "Your device software can't be checked for corruption, Please lock the bootloader". And I cant seem to access TWRP anymore, just the stock recovery.
Im just wondering if I can just flash stock because I cant use my phone at all atm

Then flash twrp again, if your on stock recovery. You need twrp. Something must replaced twrp with the stock recovery.
After you flashed twrp use the files from the official Los thread
Bootloader and modem.

Unfortunately I cant seem to view the phone as an adb device, unless i select the "Apply update from adb" option in the stock recovery, however this only lets me sideload and i cant reboot it to edl mode or anything like that to install TWRP.
What happens if you are on stock recovery and type adb reboot edl. Another way to get to edl mode can be to shut down the phone and press both volume keys while connecting the USB cable, I read that somewhere here, may need some trys.
Btw,
"Your device software can't be checked for corruption" this is normal if your unlocked.

Good, you did it. Yes, after you flashed the latest official twrp,
flash the bootloader zip and modem zip which are linked at the first page of the Los thread, then your prefered rom with gapps and root if you like.
DON'T relock your bootloader !!!
Have fun!
Hello to all,
first of all sorry for my English, i'm using google translate, I do not know if you can help me here.
I bought this jewel from Gearbest and arrived yesterday.
I would like to unlock the bootloader and root it following this wonderful guide , but I can not get into developer options, I get the error "the settings application crashed abnormally"
I wanted to do this via the toolkit, but in EDL mode the phone is not recognized, maybe because in developer options I have to select the OEM UNLOCK.
The only good thing is that it recognizes usb debugging mode (at least I think) because I see the debug notification icon.
I can not understand where it came from, I went into bootloader mode but did not release me information.
From the onscreen screen I can only provide these info:
model number zte a2017g
version android 6.0.1
kernel version 3.18.20
build number zte a2017gv1.0.0b11
baseband version th.2.0.c1.9-00050-m8996faaaanazm
The MiFlavor version is 4.0
The smartphone does not receive OTA updates. I downloaded the global version (b05) of Nougat, the update with Android started I did not find it (I renamed the rom file in update.zip and put in the root of the SD CARD). I tried through recovery mode but it does not do anything to me, it's as if the smartphone was locked in everything and for everything.
I'm doing well ? How do I update when I download the rom? Can you please help me? Is there any system to interact with this smartphone and unlock it? I do not want to keep a phone that I can not update and root it.
Thanks in advance to who will help.
UPDATE:
I tried to manually install the downloaded ROM, but in recovery mode it does not flash the new rom ... the phone does not even try it !!!
It's as if the phone was locked in everything and I only have to keep the installed rom.
Some idea ?

Hey I would recommend clearing the data for settings if you can. To do this go to your launcher, find the settings icon and either drag or hold down or do whatever it takes to get to the app info. I haven't used stock in a long time so idk. But then go into storage and clear data. Then go and try again.
I do have one question though. How did you get usb adb debugging enabled if you didn't get into developer options at all?
For the second half of your question you won't be able to flash anything without first unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP onto the device. For the devices recovery idk which one you meant, but it needs to be TWRP. Good luck!

Thanks to my friend, without doing anything, suddenly, he made me enter the developer options menu.
I've been able to do the rest.
Now I have the phone with unlocked bootloader, root and TWRP installed.
Do not ask me how I got the debug without going into the menu, I could not answer you ... it will remain a mystery !!!
I take advantage of your availability: can I flash the zip of the official ROM through TWRP? Or is there a risk that the phone goes into brick mode?

You can't flash an official zip through TWRP, it will just fail. No brick.
Edit: didn't read OP lol. If you want to update, you have to flash the stock recovery (there are stock recovery flashable zips on the Download Center) then install the update, then get TWRP again. Or you can install a custom ROM (I recommend one based on stock MiFavor 5.0, I think that the best one is ADM Team V3 (the one that's not based on B13), this way you can simply download, flash in TWRP, and you'll be done

Very poor support? It's going to get Android O, and it's got at least 1 update per month (officially). It's unclear whether that ROM you installed will be updated since it's based on an older version, but the latest (B13) breaks a bunch of stuff like Google Play Games, Maps, the GPS works awfully...

No no ... do not get me wrong.
My reference is to rom, MiFlavor is really bad. I come from 3 Xiaomi smartphones and I can assure you is another world.
The smartphone is really nice and well balanced (apart from the just enough battery) and I would replenish it a thousand times. :fingers-crossed::good:

So if any one could help fixing the hwc , kernel , hw coding and decoding,, it will make the device fly again

I have been trying to get this room to work but failed everytime, because of the encryption.
Everytime I get decryption successful but something went wrong. As far as I understand the encryption should be disabled on this ROM completely, but I can't get it done. I tried reformatting data to ext4 but that didn't work.
Edit: The problem was that I was using Magisk as root solution. I tried with the provided SuperSU and it all worked.
My device runs well with rr. I only notice the performance issue on startup, right after but the phone is very slow.
I noticed that there is no swap memory use in this ROM, while in stock there was a deal memory partition.
I'll try to figure out if we can enable it in this ROM. That might improve performance.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but im desperate. Im trying to root mt MYA L22 but can't seem to find the right instructions. Posted here two times but no one is replying. Could you tell me how you unlocked bootloader on your phone? I already have the code from Huawei website. It says adb devices attached but shows nothing after that, basically an empty list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure which post you saw, but I think my post on there were with an other device and yes, I have never bricked a device unrecoverable (yet).
That said, you will always be taking a risk when rooting or trying custom ROMS.
Then again if you never take risks you won't get anywhere. The question is how much are you willing to risk. In this case are you willing to risk your phone for the extra possibilities you might get when rooting it
First think you need to do before modifying anything is learning how to backup and restore.

First think you need to do before modifying any freething is learning how to backup and restore.

Thanks JudgeDread. Yes, I've rooted several phones in my life time. I understand the risk, but I tend to research about that particular rooting method with my phone before going ahead and doing it. I feel like the rooting method for my phone is particularly more risky, not because of what I read but rather from what info I am NOT able to find. Did you have a Huwaei Y5 2017 MYA l22 that you rooted successfully without issues? Can you point me to the instructions? That thread is a bit confusing.

Yes exact same model, rooted and after several tries custom ROM.
I unlocked using the official method and then flashed TWRP in the recovery partition.
The difficulty was to get back into TWRP after rebooting. So I would advice to immediately install a root solution. I used Magisk. While root works without problem Magisk modules will only work if you use the f2fs workaround.
I am now running Resurrection remix (Android 7.1.2) without many issues. Only every now and then a forced close of the system UI.
It took some time to get it running. Because I used a different root solution the provided on the same page as the ROM. So on install use the provided SuperSU. After install you can change of you want.
Also the patches are needed. I still have bad videos on YouTube but haven't looked into the issue much yet.

Thanks again for replying. Unfortunately though, 80 percent of what you just said flew over my head
I am not an expert but I can follow instructions! Any step by step guide on how to root it? So far I've gotten the unlock code from Huawei. I downloaded the ADB and fast boot folder and launched from that folder the cmd prompt. I type in "list of ADB deviced" and below comes an empty list. Please share what you did.

For rooting you need unlocked bootloader ( if you don't do ir then below won't work).
1)download the 4pda app from google play store and register an account .
2) download the TWRP.img file from 4pda website here is the link
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=823938&view=findpost&p=74424572
3) enable developer mode in your phone by going to setting about phone , tap 6 times on the build number.
4)go to developer mode and enable usb debugging and oem factory unlock .
5) go to your pc install adb here link https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
6) now conect the phone to the pc and run cmd , type adb reboot bootloader . (Your device ahould restart and enter bootloader mode (white screen)).
7) now take the TWRP.img (must be copyied to desktop ) and type in cmd cd desktop.
8) type fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img (change the file name to TWRP ).
9) type fastboot reboot.
Now you have successfully install TWRP on your device.

Hello to all forum members. :highfive:
Recently I got into my hands the Samsung S4 SGH-I337 version of AT&T, at least I think so. The current version of Android on it is 5.0.1.
When I set the phone to recovery mode, I think I see the modem version: I337UCSGOK3. Correct me if this is not the modem version, but I am sharing it because I guess this information will be helpful to make alternative software installation.
I've already spent 7 days trying to change the software, reading one by one what I will find about such an update. I tried tons of instructions and they all didn't let me do upload/change somehow software nor even install TWRP.
Tried to upload TWRP (I think I found 6 different files) using different applications from the original Android system - Failed. ie. I used TWRP straight from the system, I also used Flashify. When I use this Flashify app I installed TWRP, but it didn't let my phone go into recovery mode, it just went straight to the download. For me it looks like there is something to not let flash/change this to TWRP.
I tried to upload TWRP via ODIN, it doesn't work, it crashes during installation with error messages.
I also tried to upload lineageos version lineageos.17.1.recovery.img via the normal recovery mode, but every time I try I get an error about the signature not matching.
I tried to upload the software by ADB, I have had connection, I was able to see the phone, but I can only use adb sideload recover.img command and although I tried different images and .zip files, unfortunately nothing works. I think I also get an error that the signature does not match.
Can I ask you for some hints, maybe some instructions that will really work. Many instructions were based on specific versions of the bootloader, is what I called the modem above maybe I named this wrong and this is the bootloader version? If so, does anyone know about the instructions for this version of the bootloader? It seems to me after my problems that it is strangely blocked. Maybe someone knows how to make it work. I would like to change the software to change the system language to Polish. Unfortunately, the apps: MoreLocale2 and Language Enabler and probably about 4 others from the play store are not working.
Of course, the phone is rooted with Kingoroot, the applications detect that there is root, after all, after selecting the Polish language, it does not work in the system.
I would like to change Androind 5.x to LineageOS, because there you can do much more and it works better, more efficiently and saves battery. And I will be able to change language defenetly.
this is not the first time when I do that things. I have changed the regular S4 jfltexx many times, this is not the slightest problem for me.
Summarizing:
1. I would like to change the language to Polish, if it doesn't work or it won't be possible, it's a waste of time or something else
2. I would like to unlock the bootloader and upload TWRP, it can be CWM if anyone knows it will work and has an instruction that I can test
3. Then I would like to upload lineageos.
I'd appreciate any hints to test these things above.

I read that it will be possible to upload TWRP, but if it is a special version of TWRP prepared for this phone. Will someone be so nice and tell me if something like this exists and if so, where can I find such TWRP for uploading via ODIN.
Thank yo all for your time spending to read this.:good:
PS: Dear Moderators if this thread is not in proper place please correct this. Thank you.
Those instructions are for another bootloader. Your bootloader is locked, which is why TWRP won't install. There is no way to unlock it or downgrade. You also can't boot AOSP based ROM like Lineage OS. What you can do is root the phone and install touch wiz based ROM like Golden eye ROM by using the flash fire app if you're on lollipop or safe strap recovery if you're on kit kat.

Big Thank You for your suggestion and answer on my question.:good:
Right now I have Lolipop installed on the phone so related to this above I can only install something with touchwiz. Hope it will let me to change language to the Polish.
Would you be able to point me some links to instruction, please. I try to find this on forum but failed (getting ROM for nintendo). At least links to the software so I can try using flashfire app. The best it will be instruction, as I have situation in which when I use this app phone want boot after. Maybe it was related to the software, which I shouldn't use or maybe I do this in not proper way.
For everything what I get I'm saying thank you. :highfive:
No problem, I help when I can. The flash fire app you can get from the Google play store I believe, but your phone might need a specific version like the Verizon S4 does I don't know. The touch wiz ROMs are in this forum under Android development, go there and you should see ROMs like golden eye which is a touch wiz based ROM.
Here's a link that might help you, but the S4 is an old phone so it's hard to find links and guides that aren't buried deep in the forum posts.

Let me check this and back with the details what is working.
Alright man, good luck! I may not be able to help much further though, as I now have a Galaxy S10 and my S4 is just my storage phone, but I can try if it's something I know.
