I noticed last night at some point that I lost Wi-Fi functionality on my S4. All other devices on my home network are working without incidence. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. My wifi is now working whenever it wants. I didn't have any issues either until yesterday. I was running the GPE 4.4.4 rom by joe-tech and was getting annoyed by the 5.0 update notification. So I got autostarts and disabled the 3 services that check that. After a while, I noticed my wifi stopped working. After countless reboots and hot reboots, the wifi just works sporadically even after re-enabling the 3 services I turned off for the 5.0 update. I wiped cache/dalvik thinking that might fix it too and nope. I wiped the phone completely and installed the latest GoldenEye rom (v48) hoping that would fix it. Nope.
I can be on wireless and it'll just shut off by itself. I'll turn it back on and it turns temperamental.
Please help us
I had this issue too.

I had rooted my fiance's Galaxy S4 and when she wanted it back to unrooted and stock, I put it back. However, it appears that the common recovery that is available online is available with a kernel that is either corrupt, or just plain wrong. Her WiFi would not turn on despite everything. After much searching and attempts at removing the battery, factory restore and whatnot, finally decided to research the flash file itself and sure enough, it would not update past 4.2.2.
The file you will need to reflash via ODIN v1.85 is available here: http://www.androidayos.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-odin-stock-firmware/
Found the proper file (Telus), flashed it and it is now at 4.4.2 and WiFi is working perfect again. Also fast as well. Hope this helps as I know I found it extremely difficult to find answers!
I should have posted by now. My Wi-Fi returned. Weird...

Hi Everyone,
I have a Galaxy note 10.1 (N8010 wifi only), and I was wondering if anyone has been able to find a good Jelly Bean firmware for this device.
I have installed the Stock N8000 (3G version) on my N8010 using Odin, and while the software works great as long as the screen is unlocked, random reboots occur when the screen is locked.
I don't really want to give up Jelly Bean on my tablet as the Samsung apps (S Note, multi-tasking, etc) are much improved, the improved usability has led me to the decision to deal with the random reboots for the time being.
Is there any way to port over the upgraded Samsung application software (improved S Pen functionality, updated TouchWiz sustem) to the ICS stock firmware? If not, is there a firmware/ROM out there for Jelly Bean that is made to operate on the wifi only version?
I could flash a custom ROM, though I haven't found one with the Samsung apps included - would this be accessible by flashing gapps or something similar (probably not gapps since it's Samsung software).
I would happily stick with the JB ROM I have now if there was any way to address the random rebooting issue, I've tried uninstalling any phone/SMS/mobile network related software using a utility called Link2SD but the random rebooting persists.
I have also tried (per the advice of another thread) enabling airplane mode to that it stops seeking mobile networks, though I have enabled wifi from here to make my tablet useful...rebooting still occurs, though it may be less frequent.
I'm rooted, so if there's anything I can do as root to address the rebooting issue, advice would be much appreciated. I just want to take an axe to all things mobile data/3G related. I'm sure I'm not the only one suffering with this issue here!
Cheers,
Nick
If you read here for about 15 min, you will find all that is needed for your problem. Get setcpu app and set to on demand and no more reboots, flash the n8010 fix to eliminate the phone framework.

Missing Toolbar
Thank you very much for this info, much appreciated!
I have overcome the random rebooting issue, though my toolbar seems to have gone missing! I wiped the dalvik cache, not sure if that's what cleared it out? Anyway, I'll wipe my tab and set it up again to see if the toolbar returns. Thanks again!
Cheers,
Nick

The fix for 8010 worked for me, I used the German deodexed Rom. After you flash the jb Rom, boot in it and set-up your stuff, only after that get in cwm and flash the fix.

Since this issue has resolved this thread has no use anymore.
To OP next time be sure to create a question thread HERE
Thanks and thread closed.
Another odd thing I am seeing since the new update, is every time I reboot, if I go into the task manager to see all my open applications... After about a minute or so, I notice there is an app in there that says MIPerroractivity, when I click app info it says it is an app called com.sec.app.MIPErrorNotifier. Why is this automatically open like an app in my task manager when I reboot? Any ody else seeing this?

I see this too
Thanks for the reply. Was hoping it wasn't just me. Perhaps someone with more insight could shed some light on this.

Same here. Not sure what this is, and if I should just freeze it using Titanium backup. Searched google and the first hit was this post
One of the subsequent posts indicates that this app existed on the S3 late last year too - http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...ng-galaxy-s3-sprint-version-stock-rooted.html
Same here! I'm wondering if we rename it to .bak at the end if that will affect anything... anyone willing to test that lol?

QUESTION: Is everyone here running the latest KT Kernel. Bc when I reverted back to the MF9 kernel, I didn't get that anymore...
I am bone stock, haven't even rooted it yet. First time I haven't rooted a phone right out of the gate.

Same here just updated this morning. Bone stock and not rooted. Shows up after every reboot.
I did the update myself not via ota. Did everyone else here do it that way? Or did you receive the update via ota?
Maybe its somehow related to the way sprint is rolling out the update?

Happy I found this thread! Thought it was only me. I flashed the MF9 zip, and I'm using KT kernel.
The thing running doesn't really bother me, I'd just like to know what it's for. I kill it every time I reboot anyway

Should I have? I used Odin to get to stock MDL, then flashed the MF9 zip in recovery. Nothing else. Why would I need to flash the modem if the modem is in the OTA?

Did the same thing.
I also get this PITA notice.
Only thing I have been able to find so far is it appears to have something to do with "Mobile IP ERRor".
I will not claim to know what this means.
I have noticed that I have no cell service while roaming at home anymore.
Hopefully, this is because I am slightly (1/4 mile) outside of the official roaming service area.
I am hoping I can reset the phone profile once I get back into Sprint's network later today.
I am also not sure if this is related to MY upgrading to MF9 using the manual ZIP from SD card method and not waiting for the official OTA update.
I already posted that I did the ota stock non rooted and it appears for me.

After a bit of review
Ok, so I've been doing a little testing this AM to see if I could get to the bottom of this error.
After rebooting, locking and unlocking a ton of times I've decided its related to wifi connecting on the initial boot.
After a while I started noticing a pattern in relation to the toast message that pops up when it initially connects to wifi and the error showing up.
To confirm my theory, I removed the local wifi at my office, and on reboot, no error.
I have zero clue on how to fix the issue, but just wanted to point any devs looking into this in the right direction.
Additional notes, I'm stock, not rooted, and updated via the sdcard method.

I believe you are absolutely correct in your assumption. I can replicate this as you say. Also, I am completely stock, unrooted and gained the update via OTA.
I did crawrj mf9 update for rooted mf9 and not haveing the issues only had to clear my google account (data) check out his thread maybe there that ll help yall
galaxy s4
Has anyone totally deleted it (not freeze it, but DELETE IT) from system/apps ??
so i rooted my phone last night and after trying a few roms that didnt end up working (and yes i was using the right ones from the sprint s4 spot on this site) i wanted to just restore my backup. after doing that i have had nothing but issues. now i have no sound and my phone is having issues connecting to the sprint network. i would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to get my phone back to stock and unrooted so i can take it in to get looked at
We really need some more info to help you, but I am going to assume that you were on 4.3 and restored a 4.2 backup. That would explain the sound issues.
Try going here and Odining the 4.3 tar to see if that fixes things http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47359331

My AT&T S4's wifi connection has become basically useless. Both at home and at work it frequently drops out and says the connection is unstable. At home, this happens when I'm in the same room as the router. These symptoms started happening after the OTA updates, but seem to have gotten continually worse. I've tried the usual settings changes to no avail.
Is there any reason to believe that putting a custom rom on my S4 will solve the wifi stability issue? If so, I'd happily give it a shot before I completely give up and get a new phone. And, I've had the hardest time trying to figure which guide to use to install a custom rom. I have a US AT&T SGH i337 that is running 4.4.2, and the Baseband version is I337UCUFNC1, Kernal version 3.4.0-1125940. I rooted my s4 using towelroot.
Thanks for the help, hoping I can fix my S4 and keep it...
If it were me I'd flash the nb1 tar file and see if I had the same Wi-Fi issue. You might have a hardware issue. If everything worked then I'd take the ota to nc1. If you have a problem now it's probably the modem image.
Use the rootable nb1 tar file, it's rootable with towelroot.
Flashing the tar in Odin will wipe your device so make sure you backup first.

Reflash the NB1 tar file in ODIN and see if it works then. You can find it in the general section, either search for the thread or find it in the [INDEX] thread.

started working for 5 hours then returned same issue...
I used Odin to root it using Nc1 Then finished with J4 ...
im guessing this must be a problem many are facing. a friend of mine gave me a an S4 logic board i337m variant and it has the same issue i have tried everything from flashing new roms flashing stock frimwares tried different kernels modems nothing seems to work. i second this post to see if we can find a solution. my phone is a I337m and have flashed GOLDENEYE to get the lollipop experience a month before the official Lollipop came out for the canadien variants and i have not had any problems i was wondering if i made a backup with trwp and see if this might fix this problems and if it does i can upload my exact backup to help other. but i was wondering if a dev can help me out and see if this could be a possible solution.
In the same boat aswell
I gave my phone to someone to update it to lollipop GPE about 2 months ago.... wifi would work but my data connection would cut out the minute the screen shut off.... after contemplating going back to the guy.... i downgraded to hyperdrive kitkat rom witch gave me better connectivity but no wifi... I ve been living with that for up until now until I decided enough is enough and flashed the stock lollipop rom yesterday. still no wifi. whats even more frustrating is I cant find the file path thats being mentioned so commonly as the solution.... and yes I am rooted. Also wifi was working no problem before I updated..

Well last night I went from 4.4.4 back to 4.4.2 to see if thus would solve the wifi and blue tooth head ache. It all started working just fine and did all the way up till tonight then back to not working. I then resulted to cleaning the Wifi prongs on the phone and it worked again for few hours. Now the weird thing happens I put it back into the phone case and just from snapping it in it stop working AGAIN. I restarted the phone once taken out of the case and it was working so I think I'm at a conclusion it's a mechanical issue not software. Maybe the wifi circuit us faulty
I've had lots if Galaxy and worked on a few friends but this wifi and blue tooth crap us unbearable.
My Bluetooth is fine. My wifi broke after downgrading to kit kat so I know it works It just seems the wifi files are corrupted or missing. I'm sure it's simple I'm just not savvy enough to implement it
