Just buy a new Nexus 7 yesterday with Netgear PTV3000, and want to enjoy movie and games in wireless..
But stupid thing happened..my TV doesn't have internal speakers, I used to connect my PS3 to AMP via fiber to get 5.1 sound.
How can I separate the audio by original 3.5mm or bluetooth? Now I cannot hear anything when connected to Netgear PTV3000...:crying:
Anyone could help? Thanks!!

Wow sounds like you need a video converter box that will give you audio seperate from video. You can't use bluetooth speakers. I tried that to get better audio. The only other thing you could try is a speaker plugged into the headphone jack.

Hi Failrunner~

I've tried to plug my headset into audio jack but no sound come out...
BTW, thanks your suggest, i will search for some kind of video converter.... Thanks~

Yeah i wanted better sound so I tried using a bluetooth speaker but it didn't work.
Oh btw you have no audio outputs in your tv? Not sure what soneone would be thinking to make a tv with no speakers and hdmi as well.
I have this problem too. I need to play my sound through Bluetooth speakers but Miracast will not allow me to do so. Interestingly, my Sony Xperia Z was an exception. It allowed me to play into Miracast and Bluetooth speakers at the same time, so I am convinced that it is a software implementation issue. Unfortunately, the Sony Z will disconnect me from wifi internet whenever Miracast is working.

SORRY, I spoke too soon... Sony Xperia Z (Android 4.3) does NOT allow the Bluetooth speakers to work together with Miracast either, although it DID work before. Whatever it is, in all summary, Miracast does NOT work with Bluetooth speakers! (or 3.5mm audio headset)
The sound is being sent to the tv as it is supposed to be. You need to pull the audio from there.

I"m just now learning about miracast, could those of you who use it explain it a little?
If I understand it correctly, even if your tv doesn't have any built in ability I can buy a dongle and make it work?
Also, this will allow me to play videos from my tablet SD card to the tv, not just stream vids like chromecast?
Again, Allcast + Chromecast (or Roku, console, or smart TV). Stream whatever you want to tv,

I thought Chromecast only let you stream Netflix and YouTube or other online movies. So you're saying the allcast app will work with Chromecast and allow me to watch movies saved on SD card?
Looks like I'm going to try the all cast/ chrome cast route next. I tried a slimport dongle from amazon, saw my screen for a second. Next tried a netgear miracast ptv3000, could only connect for a couple seconds and then lost the connection. Why is something that should be so simple so flipping difficult?

Some miracasts work with some tvs , same with slimport. Kinda a crap shoot . wish I didn't have to get them online and wait for mail to see if they work. Lol. Not many stores have them. Best buy has one sad little google display with n7 2013 n5 and chromecast.. . that's it. Ha
The chromecast/allcast app combo is working perfectly. Setting up the chromecast was easy, way easier than the netgear setup. My n7 connected right away and using the allcast app is very easy. I've been watching video for a solid hour now with no stutters or interruptions. For a total of $40 it's definitely worth it, thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks Player911, this app is awesome but still no hope for games....:crying:
1. I am using a monitor, not a TV. So thereis no "Audio Out".
2. I want to use Miscast, not Chrome cast. NOT interested in Chrome cast. Thank you for your understanding.
So I was thinking I would like to use a nexus Player or raspberry pi in my car as my current cars music player is crap (I cant stream music through my Bluetooth)..So a couple questions for you smart guys. One my car uses rca for the aux screen input, if i use a HDTV Mini Composite 1080P HDMI to RCA Audio Video AV CVBS Adapter Converter would this play nice with the nexus screen size?
Also I have a nexus 5x can I use my phone as a hotspot tether for the player?
Thanks for the input guys

The NP will be able to run fine while tethered... I've used my G4 to give my NP internet access and watched 1080p movies just fine. The NP is just like any other android device in regards to connecting to an available WiFi network(in this case provided by your hotspot)
As for using a NP in a car setup rather than a Pi? I'm not sure you are going to enjoy either to be honest. I've tried some creative car audio/visual installs but learned it is not ideal(or safe) to rely on a remote for control. Touch/voice controlled configuration is best for day to day use.
As for will down-converting your digital video output to use with rca cables work?
Probably.... But the NP is still going to think its outputting digital, and you will surely experience some issues. The NP already has some over-scanning issues on older hdtv's. Not to mention the androidTV launcher isn't designed for a car sized display......
Just my 2 cents I guess. Try it and please report your experience with it:thumbup:
Thanks Bud...Not worried about safety I dont even look at my phone when I drive. Its more to have a decent media player for music and have google maps on display when I need it. My display is a 7" no touch....If I did a root and did something like a cm mod could I fix re-sizing issues with the display?
Thanks again
Just trying to find out options for my car with the crap oem nissan media
They are starting to make stereo's that will mirrorcast your phone... but that doesn't seem as fun lol. I'm not opposed to the NP as a car computer idea. You might want a small bluetooth keyboard with trackpad to use in conjunction as the remote.. or maybe not.
Tried the USB audio out to a couple of external DACs and both have pops and clicks. It appears like the Shield up samples everything to the max capability of the DAC up to 192k. This causes random unlocking of the signal to the DAC causing the pops and clicks. It also prevents the transmission of bit perfect audio to the DAC.
Does anybody know of a way to switch off up sampling in the Shield so that it plays the native sampling rate of the source? Is there some way of "conning" the Shield during the USB handshake?

Response from Nvidia customer service:
We're sorry, unfortunately there is no option for Manual control upsampling or downsampling with External Digital to Analog Converter on Shield Android TV.
Any help appreciated!

Thanks for posting this. I have similar issues using a NAD D3020 amp as my DAC. If there's constant audio it's fine, but whenever the SHIELD idles for a bit the next sound (e.g. scrolling through menus) is a loud crackle/pop.
This is sorted now with the 3.0 update. It is now possible to select 192k or 44.1k audio output through settings.

Hi all,
I just saw this thread about USB DAC. My problem is slightly different.
Indeed, FW 3.0 just improved USB DAC compatibility within Android. Still, a new problem arises within Kodi.
With 2.1 FW, I could use my Rega DAC (it is passthrough compatible). AC3 and DTS were sent to my AV receiver perfectly (passthrough working under Kodi).
With 3.0, I can no longer use my Rega DAC under Kodi. Passthrough is not functional within Kodi. I have ugly white/pink noise instead.
So now I'm left with no possibility to let my DAC passthrough the audio to my receiver. This is really boring since my receiver has no USB in, and requires my DAC to passthrough via optical cable.
Good news is improved compatibility under Android system : my other high-end DAC now works with 3.0 (impossible under 2.1) although it is not passthrough compatible.
So my question : what's wrong with the 3.0 update related to USB device or audio passthrough within Kodi ?
Anyone with a hint or solution ? Thanks by advance.

First post here, I had a related issue where I had to modify audio_policy.conf in order to get DTS to passthrough to receiver via the TV's optical connection (Shield to TV to Receiver). That problem was related to the TV's EDID not reporting DTS capability, even though it technically works (probably omitted due to licensing fees). Anyway, in \system\etc\audio_policy.conf, there was also a setting for USB passthrough. You may be able to manually enter the formats to passthrough instead of relying on "dynamic", which relies on polling the device what it supports. (requires root access to edit this).
Thanks for advice.
I'll check this and come back after rooting my SATV
settings
Hi,
I've not been able to root my device, since root is difficult to perform with 500gb version added to 4K TV (TWRP not compatible).
Still, seems like USB passthrough is set to "2". Apparently "0" means disabled whereas "1" is activated (correct me if I'm wrong)
So, do I have no choice except from root ? If you have any clue about this, could you please keep me in the know ?
Thanks in advance,
Pops and clicks
I just put in a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II USB Analog & Digital Audio Adapter. Works just fine like people are saying but when no audio is going on the led on the Micro II goes off. Then when there is anything, even system sounds it kicks on the LED turns on and my speakers pop loud. Has anyone figured a fix or is this just USB audio. And is an HDMI audio puller a better solution for simple stereo 2.1 setup? Or does that pop too?
OK. Think i found a temp fix. When using USB DAC direct to an analog source it kept popping because it was sending live signal to hot amp every time USB DAC would come back from standby. SO how to keep DAC from sleeping when no sound was live, I installed VirtualHere USB Server From the TV Play store. Checked always as this was only USB device i had plugged in. Then went to setting and only checked Start On Boot. Since then after full restart DAC stays on, LED stays lit and sound is always on. No more pops.
Whats up XDA recently the strangest thing has happened.
My TV shows and Movies on the "Play Movies" app no longer send a dolby digital signal to my AVR. Neither does Netflix.
Even weirder other apps do come through with dolby digital. For example: HDHomeRun - BETA gives me 5.1 sound with no issue.
My setup is kind of convoluted but, I go:
Sheild TV - HDMI out > HDMI in - not the ARC input - Samsung One Connect - Optical Out > Optical In - Sony AVR
(I'm using the Samsung One Connect because my AVR is older and does not Support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.)
Also I've enabled HDMI passthrough in the Shield TV settings.
This setup works perfect for Watching 4K, but for some reason I've lost my 5.1 surround sound. Any Idea what happened?
Hi, I'm trying to figure out a way to use my zf6 as a media player for movies and netflix. I'm on a data plan so I need to have my media saved on it and play them through the phone to my tv using an hdmi connection. I understand it lacks the 3.1 usb c video output feature, but I found out there may be workarounds for that using an usb c to hdmi adapter, a displaylink device or even some third party apps like taskbar 6. Anyone had any luck in making it work and care to share how that happened?
