[Q] Trying to root my i9506 S4. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am new to this, so I am stumbling in the dark. I can see a little light at the end of the tunnel though.
I am trying to root my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9506 bought in Denmark.
I have found the following guides:
This guide wants me to flash CWM before rooting.
This one wants me to do more or less the same
I get the impression, that these are the types of phones that are compatible with the first guide's files.

Does this mean that my phone is not supported?
This problem aside, I found another guide.
This guide does not have me install ClockWorkMod to root my device. What's up with that? This seems much easier - too easy, really.
Thank you for your help.

1. Try with Towelroot.
2. Try that GUIDE if the step 1 don't works.

TowelRoot did not work.
I found the file that the guide wants me to install. It's the CF-Auto-Root
http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
Under my model - I9506 - the build number KOT49H.I9506XXUCNH4 is written
I would like to know how important the build number is when rooting. What can I expect. I do NOT want to brick my phone.

Build number is the most important. This mean that all firmwares till that one are tested and CF-Auto-Root works. The process of root is really simple. Take a look this GUIDE too and enjoy your rooted device :highfive:

[Q] [i9506] WiFi being blocked by device security.

So here's basically everything that's happened so far :
I rooted my i9506 using this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064
then I tried to disable softkeys via build.prop by adding the line "qemu.hw.menukeys=0" and I rebooted. It never booted, so I decided to reflash the stock ROM, and flashed a different region stock ROM than it originally shipped with, via ODIN.
Original ROM info :
Model: GT-I9506
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE-A
Country: Czech Republic (Vodafone)
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2210443
Build date: Fri, 03 Jan 2014 10:11:30 +0000
Product Code: VDC
PDA: I9506XXUBNA2
CSC: I9506VFGBML1
MODEM: I9506XXUBML3
What I flashed :
Model: GT-I9506
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE-A
Country: Australia (Telstra)
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2210443
Build date: Fri, 14 Mar 2014 07:44:41 +0000
Product Code: TEL
PDA: I9506XXUBNC1
CSC: I9506TELBNC2
MODEM: I9506XXUBNC1
And it gave me an error saying that the ext4 was invalid or something like that, so I downloaded the original ROM and flashed that.
This time, it worked. But, the problem is, I'm unable to turn on WiFi. It keeps saying "Security Notice: Your device's security has blocked an action that is not permitted, No further action is required." when I try turning it on.
It seems that its from KNOX Notification Manager. This KNOX is really getting on my nerves, it's so annoying. And I wasn't aware of the KNOX flag either, and now I don't know what to do about that either.
How do I fix this?
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

[Q] Which KitKat after a move?

I've got the following identifiers for my phone:
AP: I9505XXUEND1
CP: I9505XXUEND1
CSC: I9505TELENC1
I've moved from Australia (Telstra) to the US (AT&T). I'm on Jellybean, and rooted so that I could do backups with Titanium Backup. I've started to have stability issues where SystemUI crashes occasionally, and at a rate of about once daily. I haven't been able to identify the cause of the problem. Seems like aLogger only shows me logs when I start it up, which I usually only do after a crash.
I'm considering making a move to KitKat. However, I'm not even sure if there is an upgrade out there for me. I don't see one for either Australia or US. Anyone know if there's an appropriate one for me? And while I'm at it, should I consider changing my baseband from the Telstra one to an AT&T one?
Thanks for your advice.

Hi ,
you can upgrade to any firmware you want , in the USA they S4
You could flash this for example, i mean for the english
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=34317
Country: United Kingdom
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 2309103
Build date: Wed, 23 Jul 2014 10:16:57 +0000
Product Code: BTU
PDA: I9505XXUGNG8
CSC: I9505BTUGNG2
MODEM: I9505XXUGNG8
That is the latest firmware for the I9505 ....BUT is not possible to root with towelroot to avoid knox warranty bit tripping ( you have to re root after flashing with odin)
you could flash something a little bit older like , so you can root

Regarding the frequencies not 100% sure , AT&T has some frequencies that the I9505 does not work with so it may depends on the specific frequency in where you are at check this:

[Q] Revert to original Samsung firmwire

hello,
For some reason I would like to revert to touchwizz original firmwire. I'm trying to follow this tutorial : idroidspace.com/official-stock-rom-for-samsung-galaxy-s5/
the problem is that my country/carrier (switzerland/sunrise) is not listed in on the samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-G900F
Anyone knows what i'm supposed to do? My device is a sm-g900f with baseband g900fxxu1ang2
PS: sorry i can't post links since I'm a newbie
I can't find it either. I suggest to flash the open austria firmware (AUT). Moreover I can't see any advantage in the branded fw.
