I've got the following identifiers for my phone:
AP: I9505XXUEND1
CP: I9505XXUEND1
CSC: I9505TELENC1
I've moved from Australia (Telstra) to the US (AT&T). I'm on Jellybean, and rooted so that I could do backups with Titanium Backup. I've started to have stability issues where SystemUI crashes occasionally, and at a rate of about once daily. I haven't been able to identify the cause of the problem. Seems like aLogger only shows me logs when I start it up, which I usually only do after a crash.
I'm considering making a move to KitKat. However, I'm not even sure if there is an upgrade out there for me. I don't see one for either Australia or US. Anyone know if there's an appropriate one for me? And while I'm at it, should I consider changing my baseband from the Telstra one to an AT&T one?
Thanks for your advice.

Hi ,
you can upgrade to any firmware you want , in the USA they S4
You could flash this for example, i mean for the english
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=34317
Country: United Kingdom
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 2309103

Product Code: BTU
PDA: I9505XXUGNG8
CSC: I9505BTUGNG2
MODEM: I9505XXUGNG8
That is the latest firmware for the I9505 ....BUT is not possible to root with towelroot to avoid knox warranty bit tripping ( you have to re root after flashing with odin)
you could flash something a little bit older like , so you can root

Regarding the frequencies not 100% sure , AT&T has some frequencies that the I9505 does not work with so it may depends on the specific frequency in where you are at check this:

Generally, it doesn't matter much. The only possible thing that might is that some modems/radios do better in some regions than others, but that's a very, very subjective assessment to make. In my region, modem/radio changes make literally no difference, while in some others, it can have a bigger impact on performance, bandwidth, call quality, battery life, etc.
So, in short. No, it won't probably do any harm to try a different stock firmware. Just read first and follow the instructions in Odin exactly, and you'll be fine. I might suggest that, if you intend to go flash-crazy, you first make a backup of your EFS folder, because without it, you will have a $600 media player and be unable to make calls on your network. You can potentially lose your IMEI number, which is about the worst thing that can happen short of a hard-brick.
It's very rare, but it's something to be aware of before you go crazy.
No, flashing a stock firmware should not change your IMEI number.
Ok, by backing up your EFS folder this could be done with a nandroid backup? I do have 2 nandroid backups. So I think I should be ok.
One other quick question, I know that the I9505 is not compatable with AT&T LTE if I was to flash AT&T firmware would that give me LTE?

No, it's not. There are recoveries which support EFS backup, but it's not something that happens by default on any of which I am aware.
There's also a tool called something like EFS Professional here on XDA to backup your EFS, and personally, I've had good results with it on stock ROMs, but you have to be rooted and have busybox installed to use it. You can never be too safe when it comes to your EFS and I always keep multiple and redundant copies in various places for that reason. I probably have five backups for every device I own, and I did lose my EFS on my SIII once, so it saved my bacon.
EFS Professional

As to the AT&T question, I'm not really sure, but I bet someone here knows the answer. It seems that I recall something about the fact that the only difference between the models is the modems/radios, but I could be wrong about that. It would depend (probably) on what band your LTE carrier uses.
Hi guys, i have a Galaxy S4 bought a month ago, right now it have 4.3 jelly bean installed (I9505VJUEMKE) it is carrier branded (Entel Chile), well, today in Sammobile they published an Open Europe 4.4.2 Kitkat update listed here:
Model: GT-I9505
Country: Open Europe
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 481100
Build date: Tue, 28 Jan 2014 22:02:19 +0000
Product Code: OXX
PDA: I9505XXUFNAD
CSC: I9505OXXFNA2
MODEM: I9505XXUFNAD
My question is... can i install this firmware on my GS4?
Will this affect my signal by installing an Europe firmware being in Chile?
Well that's it, i will be waiting for your comments, because this update looks nice but im a bit scared what could happen if i do something wrong
Thanks in advance!
So here's basically everything that's happened so far :
I rooted my i9506 using this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064
then I tried to disable softkeys via build.prop by adding the line "qemu.hw.menukeys=0" and I rebooted. It never booted, so I decided to reflash the stock ROM, and flashed a different region stock ROM than it originally shipped with, via ODIN.
Original ROM info :
Model: GT-I9506
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE-A
Country: Czech Republic (Vodafone)
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2210443
Build date: Fri, 03 Jan 2014 10:11:30 +0000
Product Code: VDC
PDA: I9506XXUBNA2
CSC: I9506VFGBML1
MODEM: I9506XXUBML3
What I flashed :
Model: GT-I9506
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE-A
Country: Australia (Telstra)
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2210443
Build date: Fri, 14 Mar 2014 07:44:41 +0000
Product Code: TEL
PDA: I9506XXUBNC1
CSC: I9506TELBNC2
MODEM: I9506XXUBNC1
And it gave me an error saying that the ext4 was invalid or something like that, so I downloaded the original ROM and flashed that.
This time, it worked. But, the problem is, I'm unable to turn on WiFi. It keeps saying "Security Notice: Your device's security has blocked an action that is not permitted, No further action is required." when I try turning it on.
It seems that its from KNOX Notification Manager. This KNOX is really getting on my nerves, it's so annoying. And I wasn't aware of the KNOX flag either, and now I don't know what to do about that either.
How do I fix this?
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

well,
you don't need to go back to the NC3 firmware if you just want to unroot it.
you can just flash back the original firmware ND3 that you have, the root will be gone
because, from my experienced, what you upgrade to ND series, hardly possible for you to downgrade to NC series, due to its bootloader.

for this stuff in Macedonia ? I have no idea
hehehe. but I only know, as long as warranty bit is untouch, binary bit is untouch, status is official, your warranty is valid in your respective country.

Thank you for your help.
1. Try with Towelroot.
2. Try that GUIDE if the step 1 don't works.

TowelRoot did not work.
I found the file that the guide wants me to install. It's the CF-Auto-Root
http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
Under my model - I9506 - the build number KOT49H.I9506XXUCNH4 is written
I would like to know how important the build number is when rooting. What can I expect. I do NOT want to brick my phone.

Build number is the most important. This mean that all firmwares till that one are tested and CF-Auto-Root works. The process of root is really simple. Take a look this GUIDE too and enjoy your rooted device :highfive:
