Hi all, I exchanged my Galaxy Note 2 for Galaxy Note 3. It's slim and fast. Few frustrating things if you guys can help me to get it resolved.
1. In app drawer when I hit menu button I could see disable optionwhi ch is greyed ou. I wo uld definitely like to see the feature of Note 2 where it gave the option to hide apps.
2. When I connect my earphones there is no bass. Is it my unit issue or all facing the same problem.
3. I got 32 GB model for 47,990 here in Chennai showroom. Is this the base model? Don't we have 16 GB model anymore?
4. What's the best casing for this unit? I want togive up the flip covers.

Hey man I also got this phone about 3 days back and it works like a charm. About the base issue its probably your phone because it's perfectly fine here . And yes this is the basic model. Only 2 variants are out - 32gb and 64gb. Casing wise I'd suggest u should buy something hard to protect the phone

Thanks for the update. So do you get proper bass sounds in your earphones?
And are you able to hide apps in all apps window?
I may in that case replace my phone.

Not necessarily, in the case of 350+, they eye can't discern pixels, so in the both the cases, the screen will look equally saturated and fine and clear
Hi all!
Hi all!
I'm a second time convert to the Android world, I went from the iPhone 3GS(JB) > iPhone 4(JB) > HTC Sensation(Mike's Rom) > iPhone 5(JB), now I'm looking at converting to Android once again as I hear Android KitKat 4.4 and the Galaxy Note 4(although not being a huge step up from the Galaxy Note 3 or S5) is something to be in awe of.
So my question to the weird and wonderful community is what the bloody hell do I need to know, own, download, research, subscribe to? What's changed in the last few years, how has Google and Samsung advanced since the Sensation and the corresponding OS versions of that time?
Any information whether it be useful or not is helpful!
Lovely work everyone, I look forward to being part of the community!

None yet has got an opportunity yet !!
My phone is auto calling 911 when i reboot or soft reboot, but it shows on screen as 'unknown'. One of my apps is triggering a 911 call and masking it as "unknown". Even if i reboot in airplane mode the moment i take airplane mode of it makes the call again, and i have to rush to end it before 911 dispatch calls me back. So can anyone help me with trying to monitor which apk is responsible for triggering the call?
It only does it once after a reboot, and won't do it again till the next reboot(or soft reboot). I attached my phone info. I am rooted and i recently installed Xposed Installer, the framework and some modules, see attached photos for a list of the most recen downloaded apps.
Also, i am currently running a scan for any malware etc via Lookout. I have OS Monitor but can't really understand what it's showing me. Please help, i was able to soft boot earlier with no problem, now my phone auto calls.

Based on the note 3 I'd say it's quite usable. However I expect it will have the one handed mode present in the galaxy s5.

I too am a second time converter. I left iphone 3 to Samsung Galaxy S, absolutely hated the phone, and moved back to Iphone 4, then 5, now preordered the note 4. I felt most of the problem was due to android hardware and the roms not being built effectively. Samsung I think botched their first galaxy S model with GPS problems and memory problems. The store on top of that was no where near where it is today. At that time, I would compare it to the WindowsApp Store of today. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to pick it up and use it without too much issue. Having a rough time waiting for the ship date!!!
After reading more than 1 person complaining about stuff from the Note 3 that's missing on the Note 4. Although I've never used the Note 3 it occurred to me that I don't have stuff that I had on the Note 2. There was a 2 month time frame where I was using the LG G3, so I can't recall everything, but I know the Note 2 had different home screens based on what you're doing. For example, if you plug in headphones it brought up a screen for related apps.
I can't believe that that's not on the Note 4. What other things have been removed since the Note 2, and for the sake of interest, the Note 3?

there is a **** load of stuff missing from note 4 your right about headphone buddy,no air view for fingers, music and phone and alarm voice control missing, bubbles from music art,no photo note where you could write on rear of photos,no reader mode,No eye scroll or Web page magnification with fingers,no group play that's unbelievable,no volume increase in pocket Plus other stuff like Tag buddy in gallery....strange thing is all these are in the hidden settings but don't work even when turned on,I don't understand it at least give people the choice to have them but turn them off its no big deal for Samsung as they have the software already....

I wonder if anyone could port the note 3 lollipop rom onto the note 4,the note 3 looks to have all the features of the note 4 now and a lot more besides...all the stuff left off the note 4 that was on the note 3 would be there such as reader mode, page buddy, all the smart scroll stuff and the air view features, nicer music player and lots of other small touches such as animated video thumbnails ect...I like the body of the note 4 but the features of the the 4 are seriously lacking compared to the lollipop version of the note 3....
What's the use of porting a rom when it releases official within one month?
The useless request of the day...
Because it's a different rom the same features aren't on the note 4 lollipop there's more on the note 3 rom.

Why is it useless?if the note 3 lollipop has all the note 4 features and much more wouldn't it be better to have the better rom ?

Because many of the Note3 features were not useful for a large number of users, and second because that would make the ROM large and laggy. For the first time, Samsung made a lighter ROM with the Note4 that actually is quite snappy. I for one don't miss the Note3 ROMs at all. Not to mention that the porting part is not very easy to do (different platforms) and is worthless when Lollipop will come in January for Note4 anyway.
I've never had much lag with my note 3 and a phone like the note 4 should easily be able to handle the features they kept off but shouldn't people who actually want these features be given the option to have them and there is quite a few people who want them back plus if you don't don't want them nobody would be forcing you to install the rom anyway...
Who would be stupid enough to waste their time porting this to the note 4 when the note 4 version is due soon....
Sent from my SM-N910F using XDA Free mobile app
The note 4 version has less features than the note 3 lollipop version that's why...
Well, there's a time you should wait someone to do what you want, and there's time you must learn to do what you want.
This is the later, if no one gonna port note 3 rom for you, I think you should start to learn how to do it yourself. There are many tutorials in this site.
If you don't mind waiting til not known time, then just wait.
Just my opinion though.

Air view with fingers not just pen, quick glance, group play,Web page magnifier,headphone/page buddy, reader mode, voice controls of the music player and alarm, photo note, air gesture for music player,Animated video thumb nails plus more...if the note 3 and the s3 lollipop roms have these surely the note 4 should have it and the lag isn't an issue as the note 3 and s5 run lag free on lollipop I thought note 4 was an upgrade but not that much by the looks of things...
So whose upgrading to note 7 from note 5? I feel note 5 is a great phone.... I might hang onto my note 5 for a while..

Pre-ordered from Samsung UK this morning. The Note 5 will go to my wife.
Ordered from cpw a week ago. Lets hope the battery is better than the note 5 - which is my biggest / only gripe.
The only disappointment is... the missing of action note... satisfied with others.

It's also worth remembering that's it the note 7 is anything like the s7 family (which it is) there won't be a legitimate roots so no more custom roms unless you hold on to the note 5 which I will.
Well to be honest.. this is the first time (since note 3, I think I kept note 2 the longest) I am not rushed to change my phone. Last yr when note 5 came out I cudnt wait to update my note 4.
But this yr.. m like "meh" maybe in January.. cuz note 5 has held up better than any other notes. And I've used all from note 2 onwards. Haven't even rooted or used custom roms. M happy with simple tw themes and nova launcher. Though if a stable note 7 ported rom for note 5 comes out I might give that a try

I really don't want a curved screen phone. It's so hard to get a good screen protector and videos look weird. I will keep my note 5 and my s7 till they die.

100%. I am with you and have same words. Note 7 is a good phone but there is no wow factor in it. Hence there is no need to rush. Right now if I sell my note 5, i will have to add somewhat $500 to get a new packed note 7. No way ever I am gonna do that. Samsung has priced it really higher this time.

I agree it's too expensive with mostly software added features. We know Samsung will never upgrade note 5 but it can easily be rooted and custom roms wud give u similar experience
But apart from that.. note 5 has kept up well. I don't remember last time it hanged or lagged. Probably it did but I don't remember cuz it doesn't happen often enough. So yeah I will wait till dec/Jan or later.. wait for it to be a lil cheaper and then upgrade.

Why?
What is wrong with the Note 7?
I always wait a couple months to read/hear about the issues. I'm still gonna get one though just for the micro SD card ability back.
I brought the dual sim model from dubai, and whilst i am keeping it, i actually prefer the Note 5. the curved screen is ok upto a point but there is very little performance benefits to be had, the screen itself in normal use is undistinguishable from the 5, the camera is a little better.
Chainfire also put out yesterday that the SU app is causing kernel panics when root priviledge is required and its baked in so he is having difficulty although not unsolvable and i saw @dr.ketan bricked his although that may be unrelated.
I am keeping my Note 5 for until they release a Curved Privacy Glass Protector for it.
