Does anyone know if the .nomedia trick works on KitKat? I was just remembering the froyo and gingerbread days and was wondering if anyone had tried this on newer android O.S.'s such as KitKat and would there really be any benefit to doing this?
If anyone had done this on KitKat already, what folders in /system did you place your .nomedia files in?
Thanks in advance. :what:

Yes, .nomedia still works. I have only used it for pictures and sound files.
This thing boots almost instantly now that I've added .nomedia to certain/ system folders.

Ya that does add some speed, nothing mind blowing but definitely an improvement.

Yes it works. I use it to keep part of my microsd card from being scanned by the gallery. Also works on 5.0 lollipop.

Hi could someone please zip the contents of the system/lib folder and post a dropbox link for me?
I'm going to try to port some libraries for mali drivers to get newer Mali drivers working on official galaxy sIII firmware.
Thanks in advance

Was trying to edit xml files to bring the shutter sound menu up.
Then wanted to just rename the sound shutter.ogg to something like shutter.bk
Thanks for clearing up. Maybe -_-

Once you are in the folder there should be a menu option somewhere to Mount R/W. I haven't used ES in years so I am not familiar with it but saw a picture of the option on the play page for it.

I tried to get the Google speech synthesis onto my Note 3 and foolishly copied files without making backups of the originals. It didn't work, and I would like return to stock. I need 3 files:
In /system/lib/
libpatts_engine_jni_api.so
libspeexwrapper.so
In /system/app/
GoogleTTS.apk
Can someone please do me a favor and see if those files exist in those directories? If so, can you copy them and put them in a zip? Thanks

Those files don't normally exist in the stock phone software.

I always thought the boot up sound was in system/media but I don't see it there. Is it baked into the qmg or can someone tell me where it is so I can delete it? Thanks
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
System/Media....audio...ui...its the poweron.ogg
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
There's a setting in Wanam or one of the other popular modules to just disable it...
If you are rooted you can use a root explorer to rename it.
I replaced my stock media with that of hyperion 9 media(full folder)
Will it change the notifications..ui and all that sounds to that of hyp 9???

1) Have you set permissions to rw-r--r--?
2) Make sure that the filenames of the Hyperion audio files match those of the stock audio files.
Other than that, I'm not too sure...
Rebooting might help, but that is not guaranteed.
I've set permissions to rw....from r/o
And i've named it xactly the same......can u snd me the ss of the audio clip(.ogg format) so that i can c d names...
And when we zip hyp 9 these only come in media...that time it works ...
Idk ...any sol??

The build.prop sets the default for your ringtone media and alarm
for example
Code:
ro.config.ringtone=Over_the_horizon_Default_ringtone.ogg
ro.config.notification_sound=13_Whistle_Default_message.ogg
ro.config.alarm_alert=Alarm_Buzzer.ogg
you can use this app to manually replace other system sounds if the file names are different or its not working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2482155
also this app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125083
you can also clear delvik cache in cwm and fix permissions
Is This applied for ui sounds ..like battery charging etc??

depends - if new files yes - if just changing a permission maybe not - depends if the file is pre loaded - always best to restart after making changes
