[Solved] Stock Note 3 text-to-speech files - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to get the Google speech synthesis onto my Note 3 and foolishly copied files without making backups of the originals. It didn't work, and I would like return to stock. I need 3 files:
In /system/lib/
libpatts_engine_jni_api.so
libspeexwrapper.so
In /system/app/
GoogleTTS.apk
Can someone please do me a favor and see if those files exist in those directories? If so, can you copy them and put them in a zip? Thanks

Those files don't normally exist in the stock phone software.

I have also noticed that. Even with es explorer I am not able to send apk files. Work around which I use is to change the extension to .mp3 or anything which can be sent and change back to. Apk in receiver phone.

It works fine using Root Explorer.
I had problem sending apk file to my friend too. Doesn't work even if using Root explorer. I'm using nexus 4 while my friend is using galaxy nexus.

Create a Dropbox link?
It seems to be inbuilt limitation by Google, possibly to prevent malicious users to push malware onto other people's phones.
I installed Bluetooth transfer app and now it works well. Tried transferring apk from laptop to phone and it works fine.

Same problem here.
If I try to send an apk between a Galaxy Nexus (JB4.3) and a Nexus 7 (2012 JB4.3) the transfer fails. (es file explorer / apk share / root browser)
Seems that the bluetooth just blocks apk transfers. If I rename the file, it works.
Is a 4.3 security feature? I use to transfer apk before the 4.3.
I think it is a google limitation for prevent to share the pirate apps

Stopped by for a chat about 8 years later, yah rename worked back then during gba color and stuff now doesn't work

[Q] Removing Google apps off KitKat

Hi All,
I'm looking to remove many of the google apps off my rooted nexus 4. I'm currently running stock KitKat 4.4.2 straight from OTA update.
Many apps such as google drive, google+, hangouts, play games etc I won't be using, yet they are taking up space in my phone.
How can I permanently remove these off my phone? Can it be done? through CWR? through ADB?
If this is not possible, do I need to flash an AOSP custom ROM? I've not opted for this route so far as it's a pain to swap over apps and themes onto a new ROM and I want to experiment with eXposed framework too.
Thanks
If you are rooted just use titanium backup or you can just disable them and they'll disappear from the app drawer
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I recommend disabling as removing can coz some minor issues if it breaks rom
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Why have you posted this twice at the same time? Root and use titanium or a root explorer to remove system apps, make sure you know what you're doing as removing some system apps can break your rom.

simply delete .apk and .odex in /system/app and /system/priv-app

This. Just make sure to backup everything first, as there can be unintended consequences. Most apps are safe to remove though.

Can someone please share the original Samsung Internet app please. I know I can re-flash any rom but I have way to many mods to start over. Greatly appreciated if anyone could help

Using a file manager, go to the zip file containing the rom you're running, navigate to system >app and export the app you want. Then navigate to the extracted app and you should be able to install it
copy, or extract and copy, the .apk file (and the .odex file if an odexed ROM) from the .zip for the ROM you're using.
paste them in system/app
set permissions to rw-r-r
reboot
you should have your app back.

How to Re-Odex SecMms.apk and SecMms.dex?

i have a question for you guys.
i have a N9005 with stock latest rom which is NE4. i am rooted. i tooked secmms.apk and secmms.odex from /system/priv-app and actually decompiled it using apktool for Android itself. i edited the mmsconfig.smali file for certain mods.
the question now is, how do i actually recompile it back? i have secmms_src and secmms_odex folders. how do i recompile it back to odex format for my odex stock rom?
thanks with regards.

Compile it into one single whole apk file and then odex it.

Ya but how to make it to odex?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
This may help you but make a back up first.
Find a deodex SecMms.apk and modify it as you need.
Then rename it to Modded_SecMms.apk and put it in system\priv-app or wherever it belongs to, do not remove original one (SecMms.apk, SecMms.odex)
Flash Universal Odex Script
Then odex your file see how to do it in that thread
Remove original non-modded one from system folder with its correcsponding odex file
Rename your modded file to its original pack name SecMms.apk (you shoud find both Modded_SecMms.apk and Modded_SecMms.odex)
Check permission to rw,r,r
Reboot
I guess this is the only possible way.

Try this app you can Oxed the SecMms.apk (and more system apps)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SystemCleanup.Inteks.org
(After its done you may need to set the permission on the SecMms.odex manually.)

But the thing is, from apktool for android, i can create a deodexed apk of SecMms. But no matter how i push to my phone even after setting permission, MESSAGES doesnt appear at all.
