Hi, i was using CM7 for a week, then suddenly, the mobile network begin to be freaky, cant stay on a network, cant make call and anything, I already cheked the apn settings and everything..
also switched to wcdma prefferred, to gsm only, or to wcdma sometime got signal, but after 1 or 2 minutes, cant connect to a network...
anyone can help please..
I'm having this as well ever since the update.
Gingerbread is half-baked if you ask me.
it seems to make and receive calls only in EDGE (in GSM ONLY mode), but when i change it to preferred wcdma or to wcdma only to get 3G, sometime get full signal but cant make any calls and also cant use data and sometimes got no service.. only in EDGE mode..
all this happen after using CM7 for a week... anyone please help..
baseband and radio are 32.50.0032U_5.12.00.08...
I also restore it to stock to FROYO FRF33 and the same issue, dont know what cause it..
I'm not sure it is fully related to gingerbread. I'm still using CM6 and had this issue on and off for about 3 days. It seems to have cleared up for me (knock on wood)
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
yess im having the same problem, i also noticed it after flashing to either honeycomb alpha or the new gingerbread update [i did both within an hour] but i cant fix this problem...:/
still cant connect to 3G, only in EDGE mode...
cant connect to a 3G network, already changed the radio to 5.08, 5.12 and downgrade it to 4.06 and nothing...
anyone know this issue??
if I cant solve it, I might gonna sell my Nexus One..,
Network issues have nothing to do with the phone, if they're constant with different ROMs. Check with your service provider.

is not the service provider, I change the sim card to another phone, and the 3G works flawless.
Also, put another sim of other carries with the same band, changed the APN settings, and it's the same problem with 3G, only work on 2G...
In that case, 2 options:
1) Wipe and check again.
If still doesn't work -
2) Hardware failure. Use the warranty.
I've been recently (1-2 months) battling with Data problems also and I don't know what the issue is. I know it isn't my Carrier because I just spent the whole month on the phone with them and they actually sent a Guy TO MY HOUSE to test the connection. I've never had problems before until around CM7 and me switching plans (which is what I thought it was).
My problem is that it works, but data just stops and doesn't want to reconnect. I have to toggle Airplane mode or reset to jump start it. I think changing towers while driving might do this too.
I've done the same tests. Changed Sim, Swapped Sims, etc. EDGE seems to be stable for me but 3G is wonky. I've flashed a PASSIMG and started from scratch that way back to root and CM7. I've downgraded my HBoot and reupgraded it. I've wiped and changed radio versions.
Right now I plan to swap to a few other Gingerbread roms and see if that fixes it. My N1 being my only internet connection it is hard to download other custom roms but I grabbed a few from work and put on my SD card.
I'm not blaming CM7 but at this point I'm really thinking about changing phones.
Ive read that there are issues with the Nexus One gps. Is this true and if so, what issues have you experienced?
PS. GPS doesnt have anything to do with the carrier does it?
well... my nexus already have 1 year, I'll sell it in a very cheap price, and buy the INSPIRE 4G and root it...
thx for your help guys..
I'm having a problem with my 3g connection since I flashed a new ROM.
I'm not sure if this is related to the fact that I'm using an unlocked Defy on AT&T. I won this phone a year ago, and I've been using it unlocked on AT&T since March with no problem.
I'm new to modding, but OCD about streamlining my electronics. My friend suggested rooting my device and flashing a new ROM. I decided on stock Nordic Froyo, and it makes me so happy not to see all the T-mobile crap in my apps tray. BUT the collateral damage is not so hot. I have no 3g or even 2g connection anymore.
I tried the fix in this thread http:// forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944258 and was able to get a signal with 4 bars instead of the previous state of emergency calls only, but no letters like E or 3g and no ability to use the internet/transfer data. I also installed the broadband switcher in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1052745 and tried all of the T-mobile US bands. No luck. I did reset the APN to default. No change. I've been using wifi, but will have to go back to work soon. Not having access to the smart part of my smartphone will feel sort of like having an arm cut off.
I'm not sure what to do next. I could try flashing another ROM, but from what I've read in the forums, that's no guarantee. If anyone has any suggestions to help a noob, I'd be forever grateful.
(And yes, I did first post this as a reply to another AT&T thread, but I think my problem is different than that OP's issue.)
Thanks in advance!
did u try the international baseband..
I just did. Same issue.
I've also tried the Argentine and Central American basebands. No luck. AT&T broadcasts 850/1900 while T-Mobile does 850/1700/2100, but 850 worked fine for the last 10 months. I don't get why things would fall apart now.
UPDATE: I was able to fix the problem by manually entering APN info. Am running on H now.
I have been on both ICS roms for awhile recently on Texas Ice with p8, new kernel. Lost 3g, only have 2g or wifi.
Went back to MeDroid 6.1 which was rock solid--no 3g
Back to CM7 no 3g
I did the *# method/redid apn's/called tmo/did Network Operators/flashed new radio--same as I had--.12 and also tried .08
Short of passimg, not sure what to try--don't know that passimg would do anything anyway.
I have occasionally had 3g pop up then it disappears
Sons phone has 3g, so not an area issue
Anyone have and solve this or any other ideas--this is first time I have had and not been able to resolve--yet
Ken
EDIT: Oops--meant this to be in Q&A--can it be moved--
Have you tried a complete wipe? Short of that, I'm not positive. I am running MeDroid ICS and my 3g and H are running fine. I have not tried the TexasIce flavor with the new kernel since it says it's not ready to be a daily driver.
thanks
I wiped all and restored several diff roms and reflashed a fresh ICS 6.1
At a loss atm
EDIT: Oops--meant this to be in Q&A--can it be moved--
As you seen, I have had the same problem. On evervolve's ROM it was working fine for me. I just flashed it to try it, no restore. I tried several reboots with changing the carrier settings but no luck. I noticed this on the MeDroid test ROM only so far.
try to install 4ext recovery, do a full wipe in the wipe menu, you will found it in the last option by scrolling, and try cm7 or even the stock android first, if its working we will test other things
mine started on T's rom
called tmo--no luck
almost sounds like they did something--but that makes no sense
you saw all that i did--so at a loss barring passimg--that doesn't sound like a solution
got to call it a nite--maybe it will return tomorrow--yeah right--
if you thing its your provider, try another sim card from a friend

yeah 3g or 4g its only what the cellphone signal can take. sim card should be the same (now we can find micro sim card)
4ext because I know they have a good wipe, format script that wipe everything.
otherwise, it could be your sim card. I know that sim card have a life time, mine worked only one year, and burned after that, I had to bough a new one.

I use temasek's extreme wipe 3x and still do data and all else in recovery 3x--wipe should be good--redid sdcard too with sdformatter
doesn't the carrier need to change my info if i swap or get a new sim
yeah they have to link your phone number with the new sim number in their system. if the problem is the sim card.
that's why i suggest to try another sim card, try your son's one if he have a data package. putting another sim card will only temporary have his phone number and data plan and will not change any configuration of your phone
i was going to try that, but he has a sim lock code and we don't remember what it was, so some research required first
only thing that seems odd is several people have same issue and on tmo--unless they have data on other roms--
new sim seems to have done the trick--fingers crossed--
wasn't much left to be wrong after all i did to troubleshoot last nite
phone system info shows umts:3
just have pesky voicemail icon in status bar, but no voicemails and can't get rid of it-- (FIXED)
thanks for all help guys--

Well, it is not solved
Had 3g all day after new sim till I got home and got on Chrome to Phone and Chrome Beta, then no more 3g, only Edge.
Mattter of fact that is the only thing different the last two days is Chrome Beta.
Hate to get another sim just to prove theory, which I don't see how Chrome can cut out my data connection.
Back to square one--
Back to Temasek's Kang for now, but 3g seems to work on road and at work albeit low signal at work. Only edge at home. Turned off router and wifi, no help.
Son's mytouch has 4g so it must be a new location issue at my house and my phone can't deal with the lower reception or something changed on my phone's reception. Not sure--
Either way it is now workable and will test for awhile and go back on ICS, no more Chrome Beta though. I am superstitious--
Got my new Nexus 6P, went to the Verizon store and got a nano LTE SIM. Ever since it's been plugged in, all features except LTE seem to work fine. Spoke to Verizon tech support and they see that everything seems to be setup correctly and the device activated in their systems.
One thing I did notice is that in the list of APN's, I have 6 of them. The one that says VZWINTERNET seems to have the right setup for what seems to be working for rest of the folks here. However, when I switch to using it, the signal is still stuck on 3G. Also after a couple of minutes when I look back at the APN list, it seems to fall back to the one that says "internet" which definitely seems to have the EvDo-rev A settings.
Has anyone experienced similar issue? Any suggestions?
I'm going to try to go back to the store again to try a different SIM card later today.
Quick update. First I tried switching the radio band first to Band 6, that's when it went to 1x and stayed that way. Then I switched it to USA Band and within a minute was able to lock onto LTE! Hoping it stays this way!
Said too soon. Side effect, no cellular connection available. Data transfer is at LTE speeds but can't make calls now
Here is the APN I'm using. Truth is I never changed a thing when I put the sim in. Factory reset it and find it a few minutes to get cellular working before messing with it. Sometimes it takes a while especially with a new sim.
Thanks static. That's the first thing I tried. Just let it be on 3G. Since nothing changed till this morning I decided to tinker a bit. For me the second to last APN keeps getting selected no matter how many times I switch it to the one you have.
Do you have another phone you can put the sim in and see if it works?
Nothing that takes a nano. I was able to get LTE to work just with data but it's pointless with no calling available. So at the moment it's like one or the other which is strange.
Attaching 2 screenshots. One with band 6 where calling works but data is 1x. Another with USA band where LTE data works but no calling. Looking closely it's set to emergency calls only.
I'm not sure if you are rooted or stock. I had a similar issue when I had an HTC M8. When I placed my Verizon sim card it would only connect at 3G speeds and not LTE. I tried to factory reset the phone through the menu multiple times but still no change. What worked for me was to go into the bootloader and then recovery mode and "wipe data/factory reset" with the Verizon sim card in the slot. After that reboot the phone and hopefully it will connect at LTE speeds. Obviously the reset will erase your phone so backup any important documents. Just a thought.

Were you able to get another sim card from Verizon? Wondering if that is the issue. Otherwise I'm not sure what would help. Sorry.
They allowed you to activate it on the phone itself? I brought in a borrowed iPhone 6 plus (because I was coming from a Galaxy S5) and activated it on that, then put it into the Nexus 6P. As far as I know, changing the APN doesn't fix anything except some MMS not properly transferring and has nothing to do with getting LTE itself.
If you have another phone that can be used on Verizon, test it out on that. Or try a new sim card.
I had the same issue, I tried my Sim in a different phone and LTE worked so then I decided to try my project Fi Sim in the 6p and that one had LTE. Then I put my Verizon Sim back and LTE worked. Maybe it needed a different Sim card to reset it or something.

I had this same issue after letting my wife borrow my phone one day. Come to find out she did a *228 to update the roaming for some retarded reason and it pretty much fried my SIM. A quick visit to Verizon and a new SIM solved it for me. Hope this helps.
Is mobile data set to Global or LTE/CDMA?

Ah I see, I wasn't aware that they already added the IMEI's to their whitelist. But I got my phone on 10/29 and activated it then, so I had to use another phone.

Hmm, I didn't even try because I read the stories about it, I guess people were saying it because the previous gen 6 was not whitelisted until a few months after release. I also didn't want them looking too deep into my account because I had upgraded and stayed on UDP through the loophole, so I didn't want to get booted off that.
So I got a replacement Nexus 6P, plugged the same SIM card in and voila, LTE and voice works. Thanks all for your suggestions. Seems like it was a defective device.
So I was on USCC with my MXP and I typically leave it in CDMA mode to save battery. The data speeds are pretty similar here between 3G and 4G, so it just made sense to leave it in 3G and have a phone with 5 hours of screen on instead of 3 with 4G. So my phone was in 3G mode when they put the new Verizon sim in the phone, and now it's stuck on 3G. I can toggle LTE and it will come on for just a minute or two, then revert back. I can toggle it, and reboot, and it will come back as 3g. If I use the hidden dialer menu, it will also switch it, but revert back in minutes. It's quite annoying because Verizon here, has few CDMA towers, and doesn't seem to share with USCC like they claimed. There are places where LTE works fine, but 3g doesn't work at all. So I need to be able to switch. Any ideas, thank you for your help in advance!

Lol, yes. I've returned to stock probably 6 times since.
I'm looking for a build prop edit or something that will allow it to go into LTE again - and remain there if I so choose.
I just realized that it has done this since day one. I bet the sim is bad.

What if you force it into LTE only?when I was on Verizon never had problem with this.
It would always revert back to 3g within minutes. BUT, get this. I just got back from Verizon, and I was talking about the phone, and they said if it keeps doing it even after the sim, I'd have to send it in to Motorola. I said I really liked the phone, but the since the marshmallow update I couldn't stream music through any music streaming app. He said, that could be because of the messed up sim. Long story short, I didn't plan on going to the store today, so my phone was set up, highly customized and rooted, with root apps on the phone. He wouldn't let it out of his grubby little hands, kept trying to doing stuff, and didn't have a clue what he was doing. Had to look up how to get into bootloader. He decided to wipe the phone (but I had TWRP), so he asked if it was rooted, and I just said "yes, that's why I bought the unlocked version directly from them, so I could use it my way". He said he thinks LTE wouldn't stay connected, because Verizon probably blocks LTE for rooted devices so that people can't steal extra data.
Anyone else with rooted devices not able to use LTE? I haven't heard of mention of it, so I think he was just blowing smoke.
On a positive note though, he might have been right about the sim causing me to not be able to stream. Because I was able to stream music back to the office. Before, I couldn't stream music on BONE STOCK MM. I'll restore my nandroid when I get home and see if I lose LTE and lose streaming music.
If you have access to a computer with fastboot, this will probably work to restore your network settings and get LTE working:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot reboot
DONE!
Let us know if you have success.
P.S.: It has absolutely nothing to do with being rooted. My device (and every device I have ever owned) is rooted, and volte, lte, etc all work fine...

I got a new SIM and all is well. I'd wiped those files and flashed the proper ones a number of times. I think it actually ended up being something in Gravity Box though. Because LTE worked until I restored GB, then it switched to 3G. So I just fixed that, and it's been working since.
