[Q] How to OCR? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Is there any feature or app on the Note 4 that would allow me to capture an image of text on a paper and fully Digitize it?
I've tried CamScanner along with the OCR add-on but no idea how to extract the text from the OCRd image.

You can use S Note to import an image of the paper and use the Photo Note feature to import the image and then OCR it.

Optical Reader from Galaxy Apps.

Just tried it.
Don't know if I'm doing it wrong.. but it didn't work.
I used the photo note feature, on the text that I wanted to extract from the image, I selected "Converted to edit". Then... I used the rectangle selection tool to select the text, and selected copy. I'm unable to paste it as "Text" in other applications.

Awesome!
Exactly what I was looking for!
Just to be sure, it doesn't save the capture, I need to share it into something so it is saved, right?

It is instantly converted to text, and you can share it as text, image and text + image.

Facebook app for android?

Can we save photos on facebook by using fb app like FBapp for ios?
And there are any solutions to set wallpaper without cropping?
There are numerous apps in market which allow you to do almost whatever, eg-friendcaster
By default the system gives you option to crop the image before setting add wallpaper to for it according to our screen, if you want to use the whole of the picture as wallpaper just expand the size of the cropping edge of rectangle to the full of the image as it allows you to.

As I said, try "friendcaster pro" it gives you almost all functionality from uploading photos, to saving them, when you view them just hit the option button and choose the save option. You can Getty it from the Android market, else just google it.

Easy Question Easy Answer

Good day
This should be an easy one to answer for those who have been running stock roms. I see all the time on the Samsung promo view the user taking an image from the browser and moving it via SPen directly into S Notes. I'm not referring to clipping to the scrapbook, but a live transfer from one multi window to the other. Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, you can. A handle appears on the object you lassoed and you can drag it to another application that’s open in multiview. A menu also comes up at the bottom allowing you to open an alternate application to insert the object in to. You have to be fast. If you don't make a choice in five seconds the default is to send it to the clipboard. This is in JB, I don't remember if it was the same in ICS.
Thanks, I've been wondering the same. I'm not able to lasso the image despite pressing down on the side button. Please advise. Thanks.

All you need to do is completely connect a line around whatever you want to capture while pressing the button on the S Pen and it automatically cuts it out. Are you on ICS? I don't think it was available until JB.

I'm having jb 4.1.1 but why cant i find a handle as mentioned?can you share a screenshot of that?thanks!
You can do it in multi window by having the two apps open, taking a screen shot of the window you want to crop and cropping/lassoing then dragging. 4.0 allows this

[Q] two features missing from gs4 the gs3 had! any way to get them back?

first, i noticed something that was really important to me and that was that you cant copy past a part of an sms like you could with the gs3.
it sucks because it was something i always bragged about to iphone users who had to copy the entire sms. if you guys have any ideas on how to be able to just copy a part of the texts like a home address and stuff.
second, all share control isnt working anymore which i understand considering theyre pushing watchon, however watch on doesnt have a track pad feature that can control the mouse on the samsung tv that you need when browsing the web.
is there any other app that has that feature or an add-on for watch on that would add that feature?
thanks for the help
no one know?
does no one know of any substitutes for these features?
I use goSMS and you can only copy entire message too. Know it doesn't help but might save you from trying it.

you can use an ugly hack to copy parts of messages - tap and hold the message, pick "forward", then use the normal selection controls to select and copy the parts of text you want.

Something like Notepad ++ for Note 3 or maybe Notepad ++ itself

Hello to all,
Notepad ++ is a really truly genuinely cool text editor for Microsoft Windows:
Code:
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
Since I'm dealing with txt files all the time, I would really love it if I could have something like that on my Note 3.
Do we have something like that for Android?
Simply put, I am looking for a text reader/editor that has these 3 features:
1-Remembers the position of your last visit (when you open the app it starts from when you last were).
2-Fills the whole screen when in horizontal position (by that I mean no menu bars or toolbars on top. It should use the screen to the fullest).
3-Gives you choices in terms of background color, font style, font size, etc.
I'm no expert when it comes to programming. But since Notepad ++ is an open source program, I was wondering if it's possible to convert it to an Android application. Man that'd be great!!!

920 text editor is nice with different themes, tabs and syntax high lighting.
Jota text editor is another but not as advanced.
I just tried 920 text editor and I have say it's sweet! Although it is very slow and takes a long time to process and open txt files. Is it like that on all phones or is that a compatibility issue with Android 4.3 ?
Could you guys install this and see if it's slow on your phone too? :
920 Text Editor 13.7.18 :

It's a really useful app.
Have you tried app called DroidEdit, I like it and it can be found from Google Play

Tried it. It wasn't good for me.
Notepad++ is an open source program for Microsoft Windows. Can it be converted for android? I would really pay someone to do that if it's possible!
...............
Hoping is not a bad thing
sorry...............

Gallery question & issue with Docs to go

In both my S3 & S4 I was able to label a picture in my gallery from any one of my albums a favorite picture making it easier to find a picture i wanted. I can't seem to find that option in my S5. Is this feature gone?
Also, I cannot open any type document files on my phone. I was able to open files on my S4 and I haven't changed the Microsoft Office program I use to normally create or edit files. I keep getting the error THIS FILE CANNOT BE OPENED BECAUSE IT IS NOT A VALID MS WORD 97-2011 FILE. This error happens with word, ppt, & excel files I try to open. Anyone else get this error. Thanks in advance
