EDIT : I forgot to reboot after editing the file. So no answer needed. The fix works alrigt Sorry . Thanks.
Hello,
On my Note 4 I experiment the same issue for apps to be able to write on the extsdcard. Using Root explorer I did the fix with editing the permission platform xml file like described in this thread for Note 3
the apps (like photo applications) still do not have the right to write on it...
How could it be done ?
Thanks

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3113 with 4.1.1 installed . Rooted it with no problem .Was going to use swapsd on it since i use it on my Samsung exhibit ii 4g . It wouldnt flash on my tab , so i downloaded the apk from jocala .
The apk installed fine , but after a reboot i was getting many errors , unfortunatly , ******* has stopped . Was coming up with at least 15 different programs, display, storage , mtp ...etc
So i did a factory reset , still had the problems . wiped cache and tried a few other things . Started to download a stock rom , and remembered what swapsd actualy did . it modified the file vold.fstab in the /etc dir , luckily it made a backup of the original. I had to go to the play store and download es file explorer ( a horrible program, root explorer is much better ) . Set it up to allow root access and root dir . Went to /etc and deleted vold.fstab and renamed the backup to its original .
I dont know if anyone else has had this problem , but just in case someone uses swapsd and has the same problems, this is the fix for it .
Also , does anyone know if there is a way to use the external sdcard instead of the internal ? Samsung needs to allow us to install to external sdcard .
There is a workarund. Search for an app called FolderMount. It's here, on xda.
You can use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33398164
Because you are on firmware that is below 4.2
I use folder mount because I'm on a ROM that is 4.2.2, i can say that both work well, but you can use the former to entirely swap your SD. Just follow the instructions and it works well.

Hello i was wondering if anyone would be able to help me enable spell checker on the s5. (not autocorrect or predictive text on the keyboard).
I know other people have been able to do it on previous versions of the galaxy and also on the note, By editing Secsettings.apk & framework2.jar, such as in this following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34856343
Now i am not sure if it would be as simple as this, but i am sure someone on here would be able to enable the spell checker on our s5. If this is all it involves i am able to compile and decompile these two things and edit them myself, but i am pretty sure these files have changed due to the new 4.4.2 touchwiz on the s5.
If it was possible to create a flashable zip file that would edit the certain files or apps needed, that would be helpful and lot easier for a lot of people out there. But i am not sure if that's possible.
I am sure im not the only out there that would like this feature on our new s5, so you would be helping a few of us out.
anyone that would be able to give me some insight or would be able to do this, it would be much appreciated. cheers.
[SOLVED]
With this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543967&page=4 and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251719 I modified framework2.jar (in system/framework folder)
SecSettings.apk is in system/priv-app for S5.
Do not forget to set the correct permissions of files after copy in system memory.
Menu was enabled, but no RED UNDERLINE appear for errors (with google keyboard installed and all options checked).
The Mod is in this way useless!
It fully run only in ART runtime. (Why??)

Which app are you using and did u check root permission in app?
Edit. Sry root Explorer just read it. Try es file Explorer and check root permission.
Root Explorer Pro is top one, permission is ok.
used NextApp SD fix, still same error
EDIT: found the reason, i was moving some songs, some of them has symbols, renamed those, and managed to move all!!
Stupid Google!(^o^)

Hi..I have a problem with s pen after root and deleted some samsung apps...when I try unlock my phone with signiture I get FC settings....any idea how to fix this issue...others apps with s pen works fine...just unlock my phone with signiture made the problem
Poslano iz NOTE 3+root+xposed
VODB issue
This might help someone.. or not..
so I had the same issue., direct pen input and action memo stop working, though it's a note4.
This is one of three posts I found but none helped me.
The issue in my case was, that I didn't have VODB folder which I think contains recognition libraries.
Makes sense that just these two apps would crash when this recognition is missing. Also the other posts which I found, mentioned Keyboard app crashing
I suppose note4 keyboard is using different handwriting recognition than those two other apps, as my keyboard was working OK.
Check /system/VODB folder, you don't need root for that,
it should have files inside and should be readable to WORLD, as shown below
If folder or files are missing:
solution 1
re-flash complete official FW
solution 2 without flashing
get VODB folder and its content either from another phone of the same model and FW version, it doesn't have to be rooted, or get the folder from FW files, read below how.
copy folder to your phone, make it readable to world, as some explorers don't set that when copying.
If you want to be precise, this is how it's chmodded by csc parser:
Code:
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-01-01 01:54 de_DE
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-01-01 01:54 en_GB
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-01-01 01:54 lib
drwxr-xr-x root root 2014-01-01 01:54 mul
-rw-r--r-- root root 2541 2008-08-01 12:00 resources.txt
also all files inside folders have the same permissions as resources.txt file
how to get VODB from FW files:
as the sgs2toext4 is not working anymore, to get files out from cache.img.ext4, I renamed it to hidden.img.ext4, packed using ustar TAR and flashed without any other FW files, when phone booted, there will be csc.zip file in /preload folder.
If there are no files inside /preload, you need to SHOW /preload folder using setprop command.
then extract VODB folder from csc.zip and copy to /system, set world read permissions
if you're curious what is the normal process, and what might have gone wrong:
after flashing new firmware, phone will shortly boot into recovery and perform some "CSC" tasks. this is when the folder VODB get copied into /system
CSC is being flashed into cache partition, which was once used for few other things.
one of tasks of CSC parser is also doing, is copying content from another space-eating-for-nothing partition called preload or hidden
now, you might have removed these two partitions to reclaim that gigs of wasted space, or removed hidden and cache flash files from IMG.. like me..
This is for those who wanted to have this function in their beast and yet no Note 5 rom is availble for their device , well smile..here you go
:good:Try at your own risk. I wont go in detail like step by step or what root explorer to use. You will have to figure it out. Im not trying to be mean but you will have to learn it =P
Your device must be rooted.
Download any rom that is made for Note 5 , custom or stock (make sure you ask for permission from the creator) , extract the folder "system/app/applicationspermissions"
and copy the folder (doesnt matter if is odex or deodexed) then paste it to your system/app/ and set the permission to the copied folder and the apk itself.
Then add the code below into your others.xml in you csc folder.
Code:
<!-- Smart Manager -->
<CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigDashboard>dual_dashboard</CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigDashboard>
<CscFeature_SmartManager_DisableAntiMalware>true </CscFeature_SmartManager_DisableAntiMalware>
<CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigSubFeatures>roguepopup|autoclean|autorestart</CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigSubFeatures>
Save , reboot and voila.
Bug
Nofitications - Block app notifications will FC.
Application Permissions - Sort by permission , will take some times to load the apps.
And it works , it does block what it offered.
Feel free to use
Thank you but nowhere i could got this foleder
system/app/applicationspermissions
can you please upload it.
Thanks in advance
