Now that I'm rooted what can I delete? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Or maybe it is easier to ask what can't I delete.
Obviously, a lot of the AT&T and Samsung bloatware is easily identifiable, but there are still a lot of programs listed in Titanium Backup that are hard to discern their specific function.
Who amoung us can identify those that can be frozen or deleted or in the alternative those that can't be frozen or deleted without causing a problem?

How do you remove all the junk pre-loaded apps from Bell Samsung Galaxy?

I know this has been probably asked and answered many times but I'm new to xda community, if anybody can point me to a thread where it explains how to remove these useless apps like (bell pvr)
I use titanium backup. It is free in the Market. But be careful what apps you remove, I was told that certain apps require others to work.I just removed bell PVR and all the "social network" stuff.
When Titanium opens (Must be rooted) select backup/restore button at the top. Then scroll down to the apps you want to remove. Tap the icon then a list will appear, select uninstall.
And you are good
Enjoy your Galaxy!!
I am aware about the Titanium backup and want to remove some useless (for me) apps, but as the above poster mentioned I am not sure which ones are safe to be removed and more importantly, what do we do in case we remove an app that shouldn't have been removed... So if anyone has successfully uninstalled some of the stock apps could mention which ones?
Your best bet would be to backup the files you want to remove. You can do this in Titanium. Then after you remove the files you want to remove. After you reboot see if it works. If not then simply go back into titanium and restore the backup.

you need to be rooted, and use Titan Backup (free)
everything in RED is preloaded
some are safe to remove, some are not
so make a backup before you remove anything
Guys, Where can I find this junk you deleted ...i need bell pvr app.
Anyone got a full backup of bell samsung vibrant ?
not me sorry, that is one of the very first thing i deleted, since i don't use Bell TV
actually i quit TV since like 7 years ago
as soon as i found out i can watch all my favorite TV shows anytime i wanted online/offline
i still have a TV somewhere, i just get the Free Over The Air, like the good old fashioned way, with the Rabbit Antennae
If u guys dont want to do it manually, might i suggest "systemapp remover" in market. It allows deletion of the apk followed by uninstalltion of the appropriate package name.
Titan Backup does that already, it backup and then uninstall
so if you screw-up by "accident" (removing things you shouldn't) you can restore from backup
Is there a nandroid backup or something we can extract the apk from.
Comeon guys, help me out here
thanks

Guys, I have t mobile vibrant. Else I would already have that apk.
If anyone can provide me a backup file then I can extract.
Here is the backup file that Titanium Backup created for the Bell PVR application. I hope this helps.

I've read all over these forums about how you can use titanium backup to uninstall the bell apps that come with the phone. But whenever I launch Titanium all I see are the following:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time Zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
I've checked the filters and they're not on.
Is it broken?

[Q] Deleting Files

Now that I have 'rooted' my Iconia Tab a500, and thank you to the folks on here for making the process very simple, what is the app I should use to delete some of the unwanted blotware? I have looked at several file managers but do not see the option for delete. Any suggestions appreciated.
Thank you
TJ
I used Root Uninstaller (Pro). By the way, don't uninstall things, it's better to 'freeze' them (the app is capable of doing that). That way you don't delete anything accidentally, and the frozen apps won't start or show up in the menu.
The free version of Root Uninstaller can freeze, but cannot unfreeze the apps (you need Pro for that). It can uninstall them however, but then they're gone forever unless you can get them from somewhere else.

Titanium Backup can freeze/backup/uninstall, etc - IMHO it's the best you can get
By the way, what exactly is 'freezing'? I know what it does in principle, but I'm curious about HOW it does it Thanks.
"Freezing" to open more ROM space?
Perhaps "freezing" means the program will not be loaded in ROM or RAM, not sure. If this is true, this would be a way to make more space available in ROM. Comments?

[Q] To everyone with a rooted note

So, today I rooted my note using Zerg-rush exploit and got the My Backup app.
So, my question is, can someone provide me with a list of apps/services that I can safely freeze with no adverse effect on functionality?
( Maybe I'll compile a list of all such apps/services that you guys mention, so that other n00bs like me can benefit from it.)
Thanks in advance.
You can use Root App Remover. It can freeze and delete stock applications. The ones with red text (contacts, settings etc.) can't be removed, so it's pretty safe to use it if you know what you're doing. Do not delete random stuff just because you can. If you for example want to remove the stock keyboard remember to have another keyboard installed.
But it's totaly safe to freeze/delete the third party Samsung/carrier apps, but again be careful.

[Q] Missing "imsqmisocket" and "media" shown by Titanium (after root via Towelroot?)

[Q] Missing "imsqmisocket" and "media" shown by Titanium (after root via Towelroot?)
There are two items named "imsqmisocket" and "media" which are shown as "uninstalled" in Titanium Backup app list.
Unfortunately, entering the details of the items, no action (such as recover or delete) is available to TB.
I am on stock firmware N9005XXUGNG1 rooted via Towelroot, with just some bloatware frozen (not deleted or uninstalled).
Does anybody know what these items are for and what potential problems can be generated by the fact they are missing?
Edit: Since the only "forced" modification I did on my Note 3 was the "root" via Towelroot, my suspect is that the inconsistency was caused by Towelroot itself.
As my questions seem to be too hard to be answered (no neply at all so far :crying, I put a simpler question:
do you have the same missing items in Titanium Backup app list?
Sufficient condition, I believe, is just to have rooted (via Towelroor or any other, in case please specify which tool you used).
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and I have noticed the same "missing" imsqmisocket in TiBu. I don't have the missing media app though...
either I'm reading this wrong or else, but I have totally opposite results: my titanium backup shows imsqmisocket and media showing as not backed up yet, and since I did back up not long ago (not sure if before or after root but around that time) it seems like a new items. If I open imsocket, I get option to uninstall but no backup nor freeze. On the other hand both seem to be crossed out, like they weren't there, so this could be TB mishandling something. Also, since I updated from MI7 to NF4 pretty much at the same time of root it could be something leftover from older firmware? I had other files deleted and leftover in TB due to ROM update, but those entries cleared with batch action and only those 2 somehow stayed behind, so again could this be TB error?

I opened a support ticket at TitaniumTrack.com describing my situation about "imsqmisocket" and "media" (both missing, according to TB), but got no answer so far. Hoping they can clarify what happened, or what does mean to TB...
I'm wondering the very same thing. Waiting for some mastermind to solve this mystery
Any update on this? Just noticed the same thing on my att S5. I'm rooted via towelroot, but have also froze and uninstalled a few system sound apps attempting to fix seeming glitches with Pandora and Spotify...so wondering now if these entries in tibu might somehow be related...
Me too (S4)
Same question here re. "Imsqmisocket".
I'm on an S4 and have used towelroot and Titanium on it.
I don't have "media" missing, but I do have both "imsqmisocket" and "com.android.onetimeinitializer" missing.
Certainly interested in any answers/solutions.
Barry
I'm missing both of these(media and imsqmisocket) after roouting my tab pro with towel root, as well as my stock voice recorder, these show up as crossed out at the bottom of my titanium backup list. Any thoughts on how to restore them? S voice is no longer working on my tablet, but I haven't frozen or removed anything so I have to assume these are responsible somehow.
Yes

Yes. It is missing on mine too. It's because there is a 0-byte file in "/data/data" named "imsqmisocket" which Titanium Backup apparently interprets as a package that should be installed. I haven't tried to delete mine because it's harmless.
Oh, and I didn't notice that TowelRoot had anything to do with it. Mine went missing when I upgraded my Android version.

I've got the same ones missing, but I removed them myself.

My s voice works fine without imsqmisocket and media

Applications that can be frozen or deleted.

Does anyone have a list of bloatware and / or unnecessary applications. My Table is used ONLY for plying a drone, it is rooted, with titanium backup. I want to disable almost everything, without causing problems.
