I posted this on the Sprint S5 but didn't get any responses, not sure if there are differences in daydream between carriers. My question is on prior phones there was an option to activate daydream when docked, when charging and both. I am on 4.4.2 and there is no option to choose between charging and docking. The problem is daydream comes on when charging in the car and the phone does not "wake up" when needed such as a call or message if it is plugged in. Any suggestions or work arounds to make daydream work differently between docked and charging.
Thanks

Hello again friends!
On my phone, see sig for details, I have noticed whenever I place the phone on my QI Pad, while it does charge, The 'power source' is reported as AC, instead of Wireless. I believe this to be the cause of my problem of at night, when full charge is reached it chimes to confirm full, then drops 1%, so chimes to start again, and repeats.
I tried holding my QI Receiver (After market) to the terminals on my friends S3 I9300 and it showed up as charging Wirelessly, Can anybody tell me what in my phone tells the ROM what the power source is ?
And If they know a fix for what im experiencing. for example, if this is kernel related, any recommended kernels that support 4.3 ? c:
Thanks heaps in advance

I'm using the stock Samsung charger with a third party QI receiver module in my S4. It's correctly identified as a wireless charger when connected, but the problem with intermittent charging at night that you describe still appear. I believe this problem is inherent to the technology. However, I "solved" it by deleting the charger connection sound as well as using Tasker to completely dim the screen at night. This way I'm no longer bothered.

I can turn off the vibrate and sound nd screen on in settings, But I wanted it to identify correctly so I can use Tasker, and Daydream, only when on wireless.. :c
Im thinking it may be Rom specific.. in which case Ill ask my good old friend i've never really had direct contact with Vertigo
I have the wireless charging back and when I place the phone on the charging unit a popup comes on saying that it is within proximity of wireless charging, the phone starts charging.
Now to my issue, daydream does not automatically come on.
Ideas ?

Hey PolarBearMI, I believe the daydream feature is disabled on wireless charging, here's why: you get 2A on wired charging, I'm guessing that with the screen on with daydream it cuts it to 1.5A easily slowing the charging down. Now on wireless charging you have from .75 to 1A depending on your station and card setup. If the screen would be on during that it would basicly take the charging to a crawl. Just a theory. Don't think there's a solution to get it going.
Greetings. I'm new to these forums though I have visited numerous times to find fixes to various issues. I have rooted my Note 3 with towel root and now have Lollipop 5.0 rooted installed. I was hoping to install the Xposed framework in order to finally be able to kill the screen turning on with wireless charging problem. I wake up at night to my phone screen turning on and off as it cycles through charging and charge full notifications. I have installed "Headsoff" app which has killed the issue with wired charging and does prevent the sound notification with wireless charging but the screen still turns on. I also installed "App Ops," went into System UI and turned off Post notification per someone elses recommendation. Again, this seems to only apply to the wired screen on with charge function. When I tried to install Xposed framework, I learned it won't install on Android 5 without writing new code in the OS? This seems highly technical and risky to me as I am not that savvy with writing code. I have searched the forums and find many postings complaining about this problem and the best fix seems to install Xposed which seems hard to do with Android 5. I would greatly appreciate any input about how to solve this. Perhaps going with a custom ROM? Any recommendations? Thanks.
Developer options ON?

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I've already tried that and have confirmed the "stay awake" fnt in developer options is turned off. Also, this is only happening with wireless charging. I have a wireless charge base next to my bed and also have one in my car. If I bypass wireless and directly hook up the cable, I have no problems. Very frustrating.
I am still hoping for help with this problem. I have searched and just don't find an obvious fix. I keep waking up to my display lighting up briefly. Once it starts, it cycles every few minutes; on/off. I don't know for sure but think it is the charge full/wireless charging cycle. It doesn't buzz or make noise as I have killed the sound notification. However; I can find no way to prevent the display from turning on. I found an app called "Screen Stay Off" which is supposed to prevent this. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. It causes the screen to flicker on/off rapidly, then the screen turns on and stays on. Frustrating. I am open to using a different ROM if no other solution. Thanks.

I have an s4 with a wireless qi receiver attached to the battery terminals. It also cycles through charging/not charging and it doesn't seem to matter how full the battery is. Sometimes, it will charge for 10 minutes and then just stop charging. Removing it from the charging pad and putting it back on will not charge the phone even though the receiver is detected by the pad.
I have a qi receiver on order for my note n900w8 and hope to have better luck with that than my s4.

Thanks. I haven't noticed a problem with charging. Mine seems to get into this cycle only after it achieves full charge. Then the "full charge" notification comes. Phone stops charging and starts discharging. Then when it drops to ~ 98%, it starts charging again and I get the "wireless charging" notification. After root and going through various settings, I have killed the notifications that used to pop up; "Full charge, please disconnect the phone from the charger" and then "wireless charge detected" notifications. However, I can't prevent the display from lighting up. If changing out the wireless receiver fixes your problem, please let me know. I wasn't thinking the receiver might be the cause, but at this point, I'll give it a try. Last night I capitulated and plugged the phone in directly to the charge cable and bypassed the wireless charger. I have no issues that way. Why wireless charging functions differently is a mystery to me.
With my s4, i tried 3 different wireless pads and only two of the three would detect the receiver and charger sporadically. One of the wireless chargers was a google nexus wireless charger. Hopefully, I will have better luck with my note 3 when I get the receiver from eBay. I got two note 3 receivers with nfc from eBay but neither of those receivers would work with my sm-n900w8.
My nexus 4 and nexus 5 which have built-in wireless charging receivers, works perfectly with all three charging pads without issue. They charge fully and don't give me messages that the battery is full.
I have activated the switch "No standby when charging" in developer settings to keep the screen on during charging. The phone keeps screen-on when connected to USB-Cable no matter whether connected to charger or to PC. So far, so good.
But the screen switches off after the time set in settings when on wireless charger, which IMHO should not happen, as the phone is charging.
Could somebody confirm that this happens not only on my phone? It's a bug in my eyes, but I'd like to know wheter it's standard.
Thanks in advance
My Sprint version calls the option "Stay awake," but it works the same way yours does. When charging wirelessly the screen does time out.

I translated my german captions, so my european version might call it the same in english. Thank you for confirming that this behaviour is stock.
Hello,
My S9+ has a problem when using wireless charging, the phone will auto unlock.
Does anyone know the reason for this or it's just me having this issue?
:silly:
If you mean does the screen come on, then yes. However I still need to swipe to unlock.

What phone case do you use?
I not sure if your phone case has a magnet it may effect with wireless charger, because wireless charger use electromagnets power
Did you change the "Developer options" menu? There are "Stay awake" mode, and the screen will never sleep while charging.
Also, it can use "Face recognition" when you look at it
Any case that is not official and is more than like 5mm thick will affect the wireless charging abilities of the S9+.
Having root will stop the option to enable fast wireless charging appearing in the accessories section (In fact on g9650 Accessories no longer shows in settings after root is active - at least in my experience).
Paid 2500 Pesos Argentinos for my Samsung Wireless charging stand, didn't even come with a cable in the box and is Micro USB so my USB C won't run it. Very disappointed in this and the strength of the charging cable in general, but the cost and treatment of consumers in Argentina is not the greatest anyways.
Edit: I rescind my comment about the Accessories section not showing, this was my own stupidity. Also, changing the USB cable of the fast charger to a different one has solved the fast charging issue.
Still think for the amount of money that was paid for it a cable should have been included
