TOT method saying wrong model - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone please help me. i have a lg d801 tmobile and am trying to flash firmware using the tot method because phone is not responding to lg flash tools. i have downloaded the tot file and dll. but when i try to flash it says wrong model. its showing d802 on flashtool. also if i put my imei number on the lg firmware websites it tells me i have a d802. but the back cover and everything i have bin using before this has bin for d801.

If LG tool is verifying by IMEI that its D802 then its D802. Do u have the box? Match IMEI with box.
Ur back cover may be changed. Some shopkeepers changed the back to get rid of scratches on used phone. Then phone can be sold at high price

d802 or d800 ?

Hi friends,
I recently bought lg g2 and i think it's refurbished. I need to know whether it's converted d802 or original d802, how do i know ? I am asking this question because in market converted version of d800 to d802 ( motherboard is of d800 and casing / software is of d802) is available and now i am confused about my phone.

A Easy , but a very very easy way is:
D802 has radio
D800 don´t
Radio FM works? if works, is a D802. If not, it is not a D802
I thought the same idea but after than i read other threads in which d802 in other countries doesn't support radio feature

Also check this ss for model , kernal and other specs
It's been days and i don't even get a serious reply from anyone. Please help i need to root my mobile but for this i need to know whether i'm doing right or wrong.
If you need to be 100% sure which model, you have to open back cover and see which model you have. AFAIK, this is the only way

I'm a newbie. And it's a new mobile for me. I can't open it. Is there any other Way to check ? And i doubt it's a china version lg g2 d802 which supports 3g only. Because it shows gsm/wcdma option in mobile networks. You can also see this thread.

how to sim/network unlock a LG D801

I have a LG - D801 phone(t-mobile).
I had rooted it and flashed Cloudy G3 3.3 with the international version (D802) .
Then flashed the D801 kernel , the phone booted successfully , but the imei number is null , so no sim card is detected.. tried to restore imei QPST tool , but it cant detect phone as phone(instead modem is detected), is there any other way??
How to use a non US based sim card on it .. i know there are thousands of apps offering unlock codes , but i don't wanna fall into that ??

Sorry, the only way for you to unlock your phone is to get an unlock code. Your imei is null because you are using cloudy g3 for d802 when your device model is d801. There are unlock codes that are $2 on eBay but they take 3 days to message you the code. You could also go online and get and unlock code for $5 and it will be delivered in at hour or two.

Software says my phone is D802, hardware says D800

I bought my G2 from a seller on Amazon. It was sold as D802 (I wanted an international version as I live in Europe). It worked just fine.
Some time after I broke my screen. I ordered the replacement and realized that the top connector is not compatible. After further inspection, I realized there is a "D800" printed on about every piece of hardware inside the phone (motherboard included). I bought a D800 replacement screen and that one fit. Phone is now as good as new.
I now wish to install a custom ROM. I don't know if I should install a D800 or D802 ROM. Hardware does seem to be D800 (AT&T version btw), but software ('about -> hardware information' in options) says it's D802. I never managed to do an OTA update, it would fail for some reason.
By the way, some time ago I rooted the phone and installed a custom recovery (philz 6 - luckily it's the same for all versions of G2 or I might have bricked my phone).
Thoughts?
From what you have mentioned, it looks like you have obtained a D800 device on which somebody has installed a D802 ROM.
That's probably the reason you aren't able to do the OTA update, as the update meant for D802 is being forced upon on a D800 model.
A ROM meant for D800 should work, but you have to test this at your own risk!
Thanks for your post.
What confuses me is that I bought a factory, sim free, brand new phone. Hard to see how someone could've force fitted D802 software on D800.

Using the "LG phone from" app, based on imei it seems that my phone's version is D802T (australian version it seems), was on mobile operator named Optus. Seems the seller has lied about the phone.
Still doesn't solve my problem, what kind of a ROM to put on it?

New info: IMEI in software and on the back case does not match.
By the way, the phone can't be 802T because it's screen is compatible with 802, whereas my phone is compatible with D800. Which means they messed with the IMEI.

imei.info says mine is D800 (same as motherboard). Another one says it's D802T (can't be, screen not compatible). Back cover imei says it's D803.
Did you flash any custom roms? If so, for what model? Right now I'm thinking I can't go wrong flashing a D800 rom.
Modem is from an AT&T D800, so it must be that.

you need to open the back cover and you can find your model at the bottom (original model)
alternatively you can go to your recovery which is stock will also tell you the original model...
for me removing the back cover and stock recovery it says ls980 and its 100% true as i recovered my g2 by using tot file for ls980

Back cover says it's D803, which can't be as the screen wouldn't be compatible. Also, the IMEI on the back cover is different to the one in the software. As for the recovery, I've already flashed a custom one.

Frankenstein build of lg g6 !

I've bought a used LG g6 H873 that's stuck on nougut.
this g6 is supposed to be a Canadian version so i was thinking what firmware i download as my phone is bloat free with no randon apps but just lg.
all firmware i find were named as rogers, etc so i tried lg software but that didn't recognize my phone.
than i tried to search with IMEI and it came as an sprint variant. now have tried multiple site's with IMEI and all says i have ls sprint variant... confused and worried what will happen if i go and flash h873 Canadian Oreo, because there's no ls sprint firmware to be found anywhere to roll back.
Use LG Up find the version you need should work for you.

as I've already said, "i have tried lg software" it didn't recognized my phone.
Then possibly it is the drivers you have installed need to be changed. Try changing those.

Your phone probably had a blacklisted IMEI, and so the person your bought it from took the IMEI from a Sprint G6 and slapped it on.
LG Update uses the IMEI along with various other information to determine what version it should apply. Since it doesn't recognize your phone, that makes sense, as there will be mismatches.
Even if it was a Sprint phone, you are safe flashing H873 firmware (all G6s can cross flash except the H872)

thanks Brian, i actually found the culprit, apparently this phone is not Frankenstein but a normal sprint phone that was flashed to a non branded Canadian firmware.
so i went ahead and just flashed the 8.0 of Canadian G6 GSM firmware and it went fine without issues and now i'm on Oreo.
