Hello,
I recently flashed CWM for my device but had Reactivation lock on so I cannot boot my device because the binary counter is custom. I think if I flashed the stock recovery.img (NK7 build) I should be fine and wont lose any of my info on my phone. Is this the case and if so anyone know of any faster downloads than sam mobile?
I though Knox counter was only for guarranty purposes, didnt know it could block your device

Well lesson learned, DONT KEEP reactivation lock set to on. I was only able to find a MD5 file for the whole restore, though I may be able to break it up.
Was able to fix it by extracting the tar.md5 file, but my device is trying to boot into recovery and that wont work because there is something wrong with chainfire's root method. My recovery will never load and at this point I dont think I can flash a custom one, full restore is only option. If that works...fingers crossed.
final fix was just doing full odin restore....weird I kept all of my data?

Where is the reactivation lock?
Ita under settings -> security -> reactivation lock. Note i was able to flash the stock recovery.img but due to something with chainfires root method it messes up stock recovery. So i was stuck in a recovery bootloop.

1. Download and run Triangle Away to bring your phone back to Samsung Official and not "Custom" so your guaranteed to be able to update....this is if you have a custom recovery already installed or have rooted the phone before...download here
2. Download the Odin file...I believe the .zip contains the .tar file For Sprint:...here
3. Read/download how to use Odin such as installing USB Drivers, proper USB cord...etc...here...
4. Install the MF9 file you downloaded.
4. Reboot phone and done...
5. Easy way to start flashing again is to use Odin again and flash this custom recovery...be sure you find the "spr" download for Sprint ".tar file" here
6. Download and flash your ROM through the recovery...no need to root or anything...just need the ROM.

I don't believe all the statements you make here are true. You do not have to have Samsung official to receive an update. You only have to be on a stock recovery with no changes made to any system files or have deleted system files. The only reason to use triangle away is if you are going to send your phone to Samsung for warranty work. So to simplify your methodolgy:
Download the stock MF9 tar, install it with odin, run cf-autoroot, install custom recovery(either with odin or goomanager app), and then install any mods or roms you want.
Didn't mean to rain on your parade, but you over complicated the whole process.
I don't think we needed a thread like this.

Now, when trying to access the recovery, i get the following message:
Custom binary blocked by reactivation lock
Secure Fail: Recovery
Any idea/help?
SOLVED:
Just go to settings, Security and deactivate Reactivation!

Glad you figured it out.
This isn't news though. Anyone who reads the forum a bit or did a search for reactivation lock would quickly find that it needs to be disabled before you can flash firmware. For anyone else who encounters this message, simply disable reactivation lock in the settings menu.
.
Custom binary blocked by reactivation lock.
This is the message I am getting after installing if I go to the TRWP boot (volume up, home and on/off button).
The phone is working normally 900F wit stock kernel, Cf root and TWRP recovery, I want to install some of the aroma package but I can't install right now.
I have no reactivation in the security menu?
Thanks and greetings,
Erik.
It's called the reactivation lock. To getvthee go to - Settings - System - Security.You have to scroll down the security menu to find it.
I flashed the twrp recovery using flashify from android itself. Flashify is in the play store.
Your lucky aftrr I tried flashing twrp my phone would not even go past the error seen.

How do you get it to boot? Mine won't go past the error screen

I think you can Odin the og1 tar file to fix it but it depends on the model. My suggestion is to take it to sprint. They didn't charge me anything either.

After flashing the Stock KK ROM, boot into recovery and factory reset, then try and boot
Hi, guys!
There is on guy on 4pda that has bootloader with the following in Download mode:
Code:
Odin mode
Product Name: SM-N910H
Current Binary: Samsung official
System Status: Custom
Reactivation Lock (KK): OFF
Secure Download: enabled
Knox warranty void: 0
AP SWAEV: 0 (test devise)
I believe that this is test device, and accordingly to Note 3 story it can give a possibility to reset Knox Warranty counter. Could some one of gurus please advice how we can backup and share his bootloader?
Thanks a lot in adnance!
This may help to backup sboot and param. And maybe other can restore with it. But we must be calm. And wait for advanced help.

The only problem - it requires root. And I don't know yet if that guy has a root. Flashing root with Odin may change warranty bit. Any other idea?
Re flashing stock ROM will replace original bootloader.
I strongly NOT in favor of making backup of bootloader and restore using anything other than Odin. In world of flashing if anything is RISKY it's only and one bootloader. Also I don't believe any method of restoring bootloader other than Odin will work anymore on newer device. Either it will make no effect OR IT CAN BRICK device.
Also If anyone have boot loader with re engineering which reset knox warranty - I do not recommend to try UNLESS you must required to do it.
Say for example your device have something wrong and you needs to send to service station - still you can flash that bootloader if required isn't? Only condition when you cant flash bootloader is
-Faulty USB pin - Who cares for warranty ? It does cost couple of $ why we should take risk for complete device?
-Hard bricked with unable to boot to download mode - How samsung service station can find your Knox status in this condition?
So Flash such bootloader only you really need it when required with own risk.
Thank you very much for advice.
But on Note 3 there was procedure to restore Knox warranty bit exactly by flashing test bootloader with Odin. I just want not to loose possibility to have a solution... Of course, I will think twice before flashing that BL, but at lease we will have some data to explore! Isn't it?
Obviously it's marvelous thing to have possibility to reset knox but only thing I suggest is to use as only real needy case not for fun /experiment.

But why you need to copy bootloader? You can get it from stock ROM file too. simply unzip stock ROM tar.md5 and you will have it.
BTW exynos version requires only one file for bootloader sboot.bin

So - here is bootloader with param partition. If anybody wants to explore them - you are welcome!
This bootloader is from Test Devirce. It doesn't locked, so any unoficcial actions wit device doesn't affect on Knox Warranty Void bit, it is checked.
Who is going to test it? :laugh:

Other file should be used for testing, not that. That file can not be flashed via Odin as a bootloader.
I will not post it, because it is a bit risky. And there some backup preparation should be done before flashing. But anyone who wants to be a volonteer - welcome in PM, please.
Well, unfortunately it does nothing. I tested and flashed it on my own device - bootloader has changed, but not to (test device) status, and the Warranty bit was not resetted to 0... But we tried!
I want to thank a man who helped me a lot - @A.S._id.
On Note 3 prosedure was.
* Flash sboot an param
* Reboot download mode again
* Flash stock rom of your region from odin
* Factory reset on stock recovery
* Boot system
* Again download mode
* Re flash stock rom
* Factory reset and boot
This was working on note 3.

Any news? Sorry for spamming. @Zer0r Did you tried to reflash stock ROM and as well reset factory as the same procedures with Note 3? Post some images from successfull changing Bootloader please. I'm curious to that bootloader too. Mine is 910C.

Dear Community,
I have managed to reach this wonderful error message on my S8. A few of you knew this maybe with "FRP" from other Samsung devices. However, I know I get this because I am using a custom rom and a modified kernel. I also do know a possible solution might be flashin a new stock firmware through Odin - so my question is, how can I save my data? I only need my Whatsapp folder and my pictures.
For the nosy readers, I did download a GPS Faker App from the Google Playstore, and I had to re-enable my developer settings. Sadly I forgot to push the button for "OEM Unlock" to yes.
Have a nice day!
Sadly there is no other way to fix this, the only way I got it to work again was to go into Odin mode and flash a stock firmware ( I also lost root access and TWRP, which I installed afterwards again )
You can YouTube how to flash a stock firmware
Hopefully this helped

Is there no other option like installing an unmodified kernel through odin? Tried with Jesse, but I was not able to transform the flashable .zip to a .tar.md5 for Odin.
I'm pretty sure to install a custom kernel you need OEM unlocked, but I might be wrong... I just installed the firmware i needed from sammobile and flashed it using Odin.

Just to touch on this for future readers.
He already had OEM Unlocked (So to speak) He has flashed a stock ROM or Custom ROM, and continued with Rooted, TWRP and maybe Xposed.
But for one reason or another he has had to activate the developer settings to change a toggle.
In doing so, he changed the toggle needed, but this also Triggers the OEM Option.
If you do not select the OEM Option, then when you reboot your device, you are locked with this message.
It basically sets it self to off.
There is no way to bypass this message, the system has blocked itself from booted and thats that.
All you can do is flash the Stock Files via Odin again, You may be lucky flashing the Home_CSC file to prevent Data loss, But dont hold your breath

I think my biggest obstacle is my Mac. Got all my pre-requistes sorted out , run jOdin, connected to phone, open up the firmware folder and designate the correct files, get the PIT file, and click start.... and get "A corrupted file was detected. In order to continue, you must select a valid Odin File" error . Downloaded several firmwares and cant get past this issue.. Not sure what to do (new versions of jOdin comptability? But even back in 2017, i tried flashing with jOdin but never succeeded despite following every step.

Guys, a major problem here. So i cant turn on my phone..
Its stuck on boot screen with the following message "Custom Binary blocked by FRP Lock"
Can't boot to twrp custom recovery (power+home+volup)
------
The only thing it can do is boot in to Odin downloader (power+home+voldown)
So i have already searched for a solution but all of those require a computer and a total hard reset of my phone. Which i don't want to. Because i don't want to lose all of my apps etc.
Is there a way i can bypass this frp lock? Without any major reset?

Just an update for future users passing by.
So basically everything went ok. Even better then ok!
I used Odin to flash a ROM which i found on Updato.. Used the PHN ROM version.
And surprisingly it didn't erase anything of my phone. It just gave it an update. Everything is the same again, data is intact, apps are still there. But with some updated apps from Samsung itself. I guess they included some security patches too.
Previously my phone wouldn't be able receive OTA updates, because it would say. You phone is modified/rooted or something like that.
Seems to me that flashing, updated everything without losing anything.
Good, couldn't be happier. Thanks again!.
