[Q] Custom binary blocked by reactivation lock - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i've just finished the "root" into my Galaxy S5. I've tried to install a custom recovery through Kies but it fails.
Now, when trying to access the recovery, i get the following message:
Custom binary blocked by reactivation lock
Secure Fail: Recovery
Any idea/help?

SOLVED:
Just go to settings, Security and deactivate Reactivation!

how did u get past the error screen?
Im stuck on it right now

Glad you figured it out.
This isn't news though. Anyone who reads the forum a bit or did a search for reactivation lock would quickly find that it needs to be disabled before you can flash firmware. For anyone else who encounters this message, simply disable reactivation lock in the settings menu.
.

Custom binary blocked by reactivation lock.
This is the message I am getting after installing if I go to the TRWP boot (volume up, home and on/off button).
The phone is working normally 900F wit stock kernel, Cf root and TWRP recovery, I want to install some of the aroma package but I can't install right now.
I have no reactivation in the security menu?
Thanks and greetings,
Erik.

It's called the reactivation lock. To getvthee go to - Settings - System - Security. You have to scroll down the security menu to find it.
I flashed the twrp recovery using flashify from android itself. Flashify is in the play store.
Your lucky aftrr I tried flashing twrp my phone would not even go past the error seen.

When I first tried flashing twrp using the twrp app. It worked first time on flashify.

How do you get it to boot? Mine won't go past the error screen

Flash stock KitKat > Log into all accounts > disable reactivation lock

I wasn't able to do anything including flash anything, but i took it to sprint and they fixed it. Now to reroot it. .

I think you can Odin the og1 tar file to fix it but it depends on the model. My suggestion is to take it to sprint. They didn't charge me anything either.

If it was that simple I wouldn't have asked.
But I've downloaded stock firmware
Flashed it by Odin (got in a bootloop)
In recovery wiped data
Booted
Reinstalling all my apk's
Unticked reactivation Lock
And than up to NeatRom 2.2!
When you get stuck in a boot loop saying "Custom binary blocked by Reactivation Lock" you can solve this by trying to flash e.g. CFAutoRoot with Odin. This will fail. Then you take of the battery and after this you should be able to reboot normally without this message.
I found this solution here.

If you gave a more detailed question you would get a more detailed answer. There is no rom info, what you've tried etc. You will not get spoonfed here.

I've got a problem. Had my phone since release, rooted + custom recovery.. haven't changed rom since. Must have activated the reactivation lock at some point, but forgotten all about it. The other day i was installing a mod in xposed and ended up in bootloop upon restarting my phone. Now i got the error in the op when i try to go into recovery, and well phone is in bootloop.. So im kinda in a limbo here, cant fix it since i cant get into recovery, and i cant deactivate since all i get is the samsung logo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please Help Very Frustrated.

hello guys,
i bought a used galaxy s5 from someone running Poland Android lollipop 5.0 and it shows the model as SM-G900F When i try to root it with CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltedx-smg900f It gets stuck on the boot screen saying
"1. RECOVERY BOOTING (in blue),
2. RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING (red)
3. Set Warranty Bit: recovery (yellow)"
i googled alot and flashed Phillz recovery which removed the error above but when i go to recovery its the stock recovery? .... I cant install twrp-2.8.7.0-klte.img.tar Either because after flashing it when i go to recovery its stock recovery again. Activation lock is off, SE for Android status is "enforing" does this mean this phone has a locked bootloader? Maybe this phone was on At&T, Sprint or Verizon and the last owner flashed 900f firmware on it to make it look carrier free but it maybe a carrier phoone? Please help me i am very very frustrated right now. i dont even know what recovery is seandroid enforcing means.....:crying::crying::crying:

Ok guys, try this.
1. Download philz kernel that matches your modem number. I think philz_touch_6.26.6-klte.tar.md5 works good.
2. Put it in ODIN on PDA/AP
3. Uncheck "Auto Reboot" and make sure Re-Partition is NOT CHECKED (keep F. Reset time)
4. Flash
5. It will say RESET on Odin and nothing further when it is done so just wait 2-3 minutes when RESET appears to be entirely sure that the procedure is done.
6. Pull out phones battery.
7. Put it back in and now go into Recovery directly (Vol up+home+power)
8. ???
9. Profit
Hopefully this might work, i think i did the same

You need to just boot into download mode (voldown+home+power) then push volup to enter download mode
Use Odin to flash trwp 2.8.6.0 tar file in AP spot
Download a pre rooted rom of your choice for g900f
Place on sd card
Reboot to twrp by holding volup+home+power immediately during start of boot
Flash the rom you just downloaded
Now you'll be rooted
(That's what I did in order to get my phone rooted after installing the newest stock lollipop ota)

u haven't rooted your device,
u have to flash the supersu zip to get the root access
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
first download this file and place it in your device storage, once u pull the battry off and put it back in go straightly to the recovery
select install zip and flash the supersu.zip
then reboot it,after the first boot then go to the recovery and
install your custom rom

I followed instructions given earlier to install philz recovery, i opened it by booting into it immediately i selected format for new rom install. after that i am stuck on samsung logo i think the old rom is now deleted. Now i am downloading fresh 5.0.2 UK from sammobile i will download it and try to root it normally with flashing CF ROOT via odin. if it does not work then i will do what u guys said. I dont know if TWRP will work by the same method (booting immediately into recovery) but philz recovery did. And i will also try flashing a prerooted Rom. What i dont understand is that why is this happening in the first place? i had an alpha before i could enter into TWRP normally i rooted it with CF AUTO root normally...no errors or anything why is this happening on my S5? the last owner must have done something weird with it ...i am trying to figure out why is this happening in the first place. Appreciate ur feedback.
I also dont know why this is happening
and yeah
i had all the galaxy S series upto S5 and this the only device that is not rooting with CF-auto root
the latest updates from samsung may have done something i dnt knw
and eralier mentioned method worked 100% for me and i did root my device like that
And last owner may b or may not done anything with it because my device is a brand new and still i had that issue

Help - Custom Binary Block By Reactivation Lock

I recently flashed the Xtresolite S5 ROM and I didn't realise that Reactivation Lock was turned on, now I clicked restart and then clicked recovery, but now every time I try to start my phone it shows "Custom Binary Block By Reactivation Lock" and "SECURE FAIL: RECOVERY". How can I fix this? Model: Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F.
EDIT: I managed to get out of the error that wouldn't let me boot into my phone, but how do I remove reactivation lock as I've tried, but it does not show up in security. My Baseband version is G900FXXU1BOI3. I don't know if its changed when I flashed the ROM. Please note that the network I am using is Tesco Mobile and that the phone is unlocked.
Flash a stock KitKat ROM, log into all accounts, disable Reactivation lock, then flash whatever you want after that

Flash a stock Samsung KitKat ROM and it is stuck in boot loop.
How long did you wait for first boot? It can take a long time
Flash it again, boot to recovery, factory reset and clear caches, reboot
---------- Post added at 09:30 ---------- Previous post was at 09:01 ----------
If it boot loops again after trying the above, flash the PIT file at the same time as the ROM, add it to the PIT section in ODIN

[NEED HELP ASAP]Completely restore GT-I9505 on stock

Hi guys. I need help on restoring my s4 on complete stock. I messed up real hard
Here my problem. I have an i9505 s4 which is simlocked to globe philppines(mobile carrier). I tried to get rid of its booting animation because it's so annoying for me so I wanted to flash a stock rom of i9505 international version via Odin 3.07 but I rooted it first via Odin also. The time I am flashing GalaxyS4-CWM-6.0.4.4-GT-i9505 tar file, I got a fail in Odin then my S4 won't boot anymore and it says firmware upgrade encountered an issue blah blah kies. I tried to boot to recovery and that's what is also shows up. I tried to use Kies but what it does is just connecting to my device which takes forever. So I flashed a stock rom via Odin and it worked but the very problem is It's very laggy and says that process stopped responding, camera not working, status bar also not working, wifi not working. In short, all core apps are not working or just works for a minute and then stops and hang the phone. Sometimes i get a wallpaper screen(nothing else, just my wallpaper which occurs when it hangs).
Luckily I still haven't hardbricked my phone yet so I need all your help to fix it before I hardbrick it :crying::crying::crying:
Please help me how to restore my S4 to the very stock like fresh android software because I'm trying to still fix it days ago. I WILL TRY TO ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS REGARDING TO MY PROBLEM JUST PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE ! IM VERY WORRIED
You can chill. Nothing wrong with your phone and you didn't mess up anything. Things like that happen. You cannot brick your phone this way. It's almost impossible to brick it.
1. Perform factory reset in recovery.
That will probably fix it. Report back if it doesn't.
ps do not use CWM because it's outdated. Use TWRP and uncheck auto-reboot before flashing it trough Odin.

Is it okay to flash any build number on my s4? I just downloaded one of them "I9505XXUHOA7_OXAHOA7" and I flashed it on my phone. I tried to factory reset/wipe cache partition/ and wipe dalvik cache in cwm 6.0.4.4 touch but it always hangs and core apps are not responding. Maybe the rom is the problem? I don't know but I'll try to flash twrp and report back if it doesn't work.
I have installed TWRP and its stuck on bootloop. Tried to reset its factory settings but stuck on bootloop then cache partition and dalvik cache. I tried to install the rom via TWRP and it says installation failed. Should I download other rom ?
I just want it to make it work like what an s4 should be. Even on stock or custom rom.

I really need to restore it to complete stock. Every rom I successfully install hangs and crashes core apps in my unit.

No you cannot flash that with TWRP. You cannot flash stock roms with TWRP. You can only flash it with Odin. Besides you need to unpack that .zip file.
Keep in mind that you also cannot flash that package if you were on Lollipop.
Download a rom from here:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9505
Take this version: I9505XXUHOJ2
It doesn't matter which one. Then flash it using that guide from the link you gave me.

Need help unbricking.

Yesterday I tried root my S8 (SM-G950FD) and I made the mistake of not allowing system modifications before flashing because I misinterpreted a guide. I flashed the no-verity zip and Magisk. The phone booted successfully and magisk was installed. Then I went to reboot into recovery to change some TWRP settings IE: Brightness. Then my phone said "Only officially released binaries are allowed to be flashed." That left me unable to boot my phone and also made it unable to boot into recovery. The only thing I can boot my phone into is download mode. I've tried flashing some stock roms that are 7.0 to remove the prenormal lock but they failed. I happened to make a TWRP backup before flashing but I can't use TWRP because of the official binary stuff. I'm wondering if I use the nand erase all option if that will let me flash the 7.0 stock roms then boot into TWRP and restore my backup or if they is way to convert the backup into something that Odin can flash. Does anybody know any confirmed methods to solve my problem?

You will need to flash the same or higher version of Android to fix official binary error. Use default settings in Odin.
You cannot.flash earlier versions of Android if your bootloader is lower than what is on your phone ( 5th number from right of firmware name ). If in doubt flash the latest version.

Ok so in few minutes from now the rom will be finished downloading. When that is done what version of Odin should I use and what files should place in Odin. I know this may seem stupid to ask but I'm not going to let myself make anymore stupid decisions after not installing the rmm bypass.
Quick Update, the rom finished downloading. I wasn't able to flash it. It gave me the error that the Bootloader had: 4 and the binary had 3... I was able to flash cp by itself tho and that set the system status to samsung official but the binary status is still custom. That made it so my phone only booted into a "Update failed screen use smart switch" screen ( I've tried smart switch before it doesn't detect my device). I can still get it back into recovery and flash old cps to get it to turn off without bootlooping into the smart switch screen. I'm wondering if I flash csc to factory reset if that will help at all. Guys what do I do??
Excuse my language but I ****ING DID IT!!! I don't know this worked but I am going to roughly call my process. So flashing the stock rom initially failed. I flashed then CP which for some reason always works and then AP which began but failed. This set the binary text to "Samsung Official", system status was still ****ed as custom. So I restored the cp and ap(?) from the crgb oreo files posted here. Then I flashed cp that passed, then csc which passed and then tried AP. After some time... It passed. The phone rebooted. The official binary bull**** was gone from the bootscreen and the phone booted into recovery. It installed some sys update stuff up to 30$ then erased some things which took awhile. Then the phone booted into initial setup and I now have ACCESS TO MY PHONE AGAIN!!!
For anyone interested in what FW I flashed PM me.
