Hi All,
Is there a way to reflash stock firmware without tripping knoxx?
I'm using offical H3G MJ3 firmware without root and I've started getting random reboots. I've tried a factory reset several times and have also gone through my apps to see if any of them are causing it.
I've read conflicting reports saying If I flash official firmware (even if the same) in odin it will trip Knox. Will flashing through kies trip knox aswell?
I'd rather keep Knox 0x0 as I believe it will break MHL if i void it
Thanks
What device do you own?
It's an I9505.
Cheers

The latest firmware for your phone is this ONE. Installing one stock firmware don't touch KNOX state if you flash it correctly.

You lost your warranty mate. If you ever flash anything with Odin (except official firmware), you tripped flash counter.
You most probable have I9500 Indian phone and there is no way to reset hidden flash counter. Triangle Away do not work on I9500.
But yes, you will be able to download updates from kies. No problem with that as long as you do not root and keep status official.

Official stock firmware does not trip counter. But how did you get CWM on your phone? By flashing CWM recovery with odin. Right. So it tripped counter.

You cannot, that's why it's HIDDEN flash counter. Right now there is no way to read flash counter or reset it.

Does not matter since it's GT-I9500. Although Samsung do not offer international warranty. Warranty is valid for UAE only and you might claim it if you are able to convince them about flash counter.
Can you check if you have GT-I9500, if you have GT-I9505 then you might have some hope.

I don't see a reason why you cannot. But the only issue you might face is with CSC, localization and modem which you can flash separately later. But apart from that you will be fine.
I think you should get updates and there should not be any problem as long as you keep your device official (no root, no cwm, no flashing), but I cannot confirm this because I have never tried.
Hey Guys just wondering
Does anyone have any suggestions on How I can go back to MJ1 from
N900W8VLUBMJ4 ?
The latest OTA update makes my phone heat up while using the phone where normally it stayed super cool.
The performance was awesome already, I am unsure as to why I took the OTA update. sigh.
I am afraid my Boot loader is updated on N900W8VLUBMJ4 which would mean I cannot downgrade back to
N900W8VLUBMJ1 ?
I would really like to revert back. I am thinking of Rooting/0X0 via RDLV and then flashing via ODIN back to N900W8VLUBMJ1 baseband version.
Thanks for any suggestions!

As you have thought about it, you won't be able to downgrade back to MJ1 due to the bootloader issue. Instead of downgrade, why don't you upgrade to MJ7? So far there is no issue with this firmware and many has reported that the modem is pretty good as well. However since you are in MJ4, I'm afraid you might not be able to root your Note 3 without tripping the bootloader. If root is not important, then download the MJ7 firmware and flash via PC Odin and you are good to go

Hey Just a quick question then. from my understanding. flashing Firmware's will not trip Knox via Odin.
(I also do not see the full negatives of tripping knox. We can avoid it yes. and it hurts warranty. does it physically damage your device?)
Thank you

So far I have not seen any reported case that flashing firmware via PC Odin will trip knox and it is quite a safe process to carry out. But it is always safe to keep a copy of your region latest firmware just in case you need to send it back for warranty.
Tripping knox or root do not cause any harm or damage to your device. Is only if you try to do something out of the norm or didn't follow the instruction posted by developer in flashing some stuff that might brick your device. So far in my country there is one reported case that the user successfully claim warranty for a faulty USB port with a rooted and knox tripped 0x1 Note 3. It's very much depends on the SC.
But if you really want root, then just ignore the Note 3 and get a good protection for your Note 3 so that it could reduce the likelihood to visit SC. If root is not important, flashing MJ7 via odin is pretty good.
Hi guys,
I was initially on URDLV MI7 & I updated to MJ7 via Mobile odin pro v3.85.
Currently, I am on MJ7 with MI7 bootloader. Knox still 0x0-Good.
So my Q's now is how do I unroot and return fully to stock without triggering Knox.
Thx.
There are some conflicting posts regarding this around the forum, me personally I would just unroot via the SU app, or you could just reflash stock firmware via ODIN - ( flashing stock back apparently does NOT trigger KNOX) - However I have tried neither of these as I am already 0x1, so not sure which actually works.
Yep, I'd flash Terlstra rom using PC ODIN. Should unroot and you should be able too as you are still on MI7 bootloaders...

That's a custom rom which would trigger knox.

OK so you have MI7 bootloader and running MJ7 build?
IN order to keep MI7 you can't flash the Stock ROM MJ7 fw, as it will upgrade the bootloader. (unless you use ODIN Mobile)
If you want to flash back totally stock, unroot via SuperSU /Flash the stock MJ7 fw via ODIN (which will also upgrade the bootloader) and it shouldn't trip KNOX. There's a few threads around with conflicting reports on which does and does not trip KNOX, so have a read then take the gamble if you choose too.
I updated via KIES to MJ7 from rooted MJ6 and it was all fine But I had tripped KNOX previously when messing around.
Let us know how you get on and which method you choose.
K. Thx.
Hi to all, maybe this is a question that you read every day:

Will I receive ota updates? I know that Knox will remain tripped bit will all the other things be "original" in download mode?
So long as you are 100% Stock, no root etc then yes.
I made what you said and now I have all stock and original (but knox 0x1)
Thanks a lot, moderators can close the thread
I have a phone which has a lot of problems after the KitKat update.
Now I want to try to reinstall KitKat. Samsung doesn't provide this, so I want to use ODIN and the firmware from SamMobile.
Does anybody know if I will do this that it will trip the Knox counter?
What if you try to just reset the phone to factory settings? I wouldn't know anything about Knox though. Hope you sort it out. :fingers-crossed:

I reinstalled my firmware and I can confirm that it indeed won't trip Knox.
As it might be useful I also want to share that updating using my Mac (with VMWare for Windows) gave me a lot of troubles. After using a native Windows laptop the update went fine.
Too bad it didn't solve my problem. Going back to the store to claim my warranty.

So forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question here but I thought that if I root my Note 3 I will automatically trip the Knox counter, even before I get anywhere near flashing a new ROM - stock or custom. Is that not true then?

You won't trip Knox if you install a KK rom but will if you try to flash bak JB.
Any form of rooting will trip Knox. There used to be safe ways that didn't but with the introduction of the newer bootloaders this is no longer guaranteed...
Have you tried backing up any info you want to keep to a pc then factory resetting, I found KK was a b!tch until I reset it due to old JB data scraps causing issues...

I'm on stock 4.3 and not having any issues at the moment - other than my Note 3 not picking up the 4G signal on 3 for some infuriating reason.
So can I flash a stock KK rom without rooting then? I'm probably being thick but thought you had to be rooted to flash any kind of ROM?

You have to be rooted to flash the custom roms provided here and that will mostly be thru recovery. It will surely trip knox. To flash stock roms from sammobile you don't need root. That can be done thru odin.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I would suggest however, if you are network locked to unlock 1st... If you need to flash a separate modem afterwards this can trip Knox as you aren't really using a "Stock rom"...
Also make sure re-activation lock is OFF.... If you go to Kitkat and you don't have a KK rom yet you are stuck with a softbricked phone until you do get the KK rom... You can't go back to JB after flashing KK rom due to a new bootloader...
