Hi,
I'm often listen to music from my android device that is connected through jack cable to car audio, but simultaneously I also use navigation. Now when there is any communicate from navi - the music is paused and the prompt is heard in car speakers. Is there any way to make the music not stop and the navi sound to be announce through phone speaker?
The same thing with BT A2DP connection.
Thanks in advance
The Way Hardware Access is enabled in Android Kernel, it controls only one Channel to route output to. So you can't have one app using one output and another app using another. Perhaps when we get 64 bit Android, on 64 bit devices, that might be an option.
Is it then possible to route a channel from headphone to phone speaker when specific application is requesting sound output? E.g. music is played through headphones and when a navi prompt - music is paused, navi output goes through phone speaker and after its finished - music unpause and goes again through headphones.
It is not a problem when music and navi announcement are played through car speakers, but when I change the source in car radio from aux to e.g. tuner or cd - all notifications from android device are cutted off from any speaker.
Maybe there is a way to switch output using Tasker, so that when a music app is playing - sound goes through jack, and when music app is closed - sound goes through phone speaker.
Certain Rom Developers have tweaked their Roms to Override Bluetooth output. Especially when the Ring goes off. Can you please specify what device do you have ?
I have LG G2 with Cyanogenmod 11.
I also have one application for speed camera warning, in which I can set the audio channel. By default it is "music", so when there is a BT audio connection (or headphones) - every sound goes through BT (or headphones) , but when I set the channel to "alarms" - music goes through BT (or headphones) and sound from this app through phone speaker. So the channel switch is possible, but unfortunately it has also an issue. When this app is requests sound output - the music over BT (or headphones) is paused and audio is switched to phone speaker, but the process is lagging and the prompt is cutted so I can't hear the whole announcement.
Maybe the best solution will be an app that can manually switch the audio channel, so when I want to listen to music - audio goes through headphones, and when I will close music app - audio will goes through phone speaker without the need to remove jack.
moved to the G2 help forum.

Can I redirect the Audio player audio stream to a handsfree device? I have a blueant interphone which works great as a normal handsfree device, but as its not 'wireless audio' it means that it wont treat it as a normal headset type device.
If I press the connect button whilst playing MP3's, I hear the music in the headset for about a second before the voice dialler kicks in... so I know it can do it.. its just a matter of getting it to redirect the audio stream somehow on a permanent basis.
Does anyone know of a plugin or other hack that I could possibly use/run to turn a Handsfree device in a Audio device ?
Is it possible to listen to mp3 or any type of audio output on the wizard without the use of headphones?
I would like to listen to audio content without using headphones of any kind.
Can i use the wizad builtin speakers? If so how?
thanks in advance
um, just play it? The sound output will automatically redirect to either headphones or speakers, if you don't have headphones plugged in
tried but no luck
I tried what you recommended but still cannot hear any sound, either from video or audio sources.
generaly such issues are operator based not phone based
Audio problem solved
In comm manager the ringer setting was on vibrate. Set it to ring and I was able to listen via internal speakers. Im feeling a bit stupid.
Motorola bluetooth headphones work perfectly while listening to music but not while trying to play a movie in Netflix app. The audio is heard through the external speaker. any ideas?
same issue problem here with external bluetooth speakers
not working here too....
I guess it's an app problem. May be Netflix needs to send the output to the default audio output device instead of the (hardcoded) speakers?
I use a mac and had the same problem. So I used the Line In app for mac and Sound Flower.
Once Soundflower is installed, go into the mac sound settings, and change output to Soundflower (2ch) or (16ch). Whichever you want
Turn on the Line In app, and divert the Soundflower channel to the Bluetooth headset.
The sound quality is crap, but it's a work around if you need it. Also, my headset turned off a few times after about 15 mins of use. Guessing the mac or headset is recognizing a signal since it's kinda sent sneakily. So it probably registers as idle.
What does a MAC's BT issue have anything to do with Windwos phone's problem?
BTW, I did some testing. Even with NoDo update, using the built in Zune Video player, I can't send the audio via A2DP to a BT headset. So, it seems the limitation is inside WP7 OS. There is NO A2DP support for any video players.
Finally got bluetooth in my car stereo and reviewed some threads prior to posting, but not sure anyone asked / answered the question I have. I'm basically wondering how people are using their bluetooth stereo's. From what I can tell so far I have 2 options.
1. Phone pairs, i listen to my car stereo and if a phone call comes in the stereo picks up the call if i say, and upon completion back to my car stereo
2. Phone pairs, put the car into BT Audio mode and stream audio from my phone including phone calls.
The problem is, i'm looking for a way to combine both. For example I'd like to be able to listen to my car stereo, and if i get a notification i hear it over the radio, not just phone calls. I haven't tried yet, but i'm guessing the nav will be the same way, if i'm listening to the stereo and running nav on my phone i will get no turn by turn like i would if i was listening to music on my phone and running nav.
Is there a way to do this? Am I missing something? I have the Sony Xplōd™ MEX-BT3900U. Is this a limitation of my stereo, or just not how most people use their bluetooth?
I just ordered a replacement radio as well with BT support. I'd be curious wth what other people have to say with experience as well.
I use this all the time.
Both options will work provided the head unit you bought supports media streaming.
Your phone will connect both phone and media over Bluetooth. You listen to your media and if a call comes in you can take it while the media is paused. Media will resume after call completed.
Notifications and navigation will pause and resume media as needed.

I've found the quality of the audio over bluetooth to be very degraded. Have a rear AUX 1/8th port and run a cable to mount, Then use BT headset for all if need be, but have Pandora playing Excision & Downlink radio the entire time
Hi, i bought Soundlink Mini by Bose (bluetooth portable speaker) and when i hear music or watch videos, my S4 doesn't let me choose all SoundAlive effects because i'm not using cable output.
Is it possible a hack to make available all effects like i'm using wired speaker/earphones instead of wireless?
did you ever find a solution to this?
I'm curious also to know whether it is possible to forcibly select ANY of the soundalive profiles using ANY output...for example, I really like the virtual 7.1 profile on my headphones (sounds great combines with the sound boosted, by editing the files in snd_soc_msm). but as soon as you unplug the headphones it says that the profile is "not compatible" with the speaker. This has the knock on effect of meaning that I have to re-select the profile every time i plug in my headphones.
is there some way of either enabling all profiles all the time, or to set the default profile for headphones?
