I install 2ndboot 1.4.2 in my Defy (MB525), for install WajkIUI_multilang_3.1.27 ROM.
After normal install, I boot Defy and in Boot Menu select Recovery and Custom recovery flowing instructions, but have an error:
Star Custom Recovery..
E:Error in /system/bootmenu/script/recovery.sh
(Result: No such file or directory)
After that error, Defy does not boot and is not detected by the RSD Lite. How do to get it?
Sometimes boot and stay on Motorola Logo.
Thanks for any help.

Hello!
I search how to install CyanogenMod10 on my Defy MB526 BL7 DFP-231.
My config:
Rooted system: 45.0.2310.MB526.AsiaRetail.en.03
Original system: 45.0.2310.MB526.Retail.en.FR
Build: 4.5.1-134_DFP-231
Boot Loader version: 9.10
I have rooted my cell and tried this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30992824&postcount=2
The first problem is that: i haven't got, or i don't find it, menu advanced with "wipe dalvik cache" in the recovery mod
I have installed ClockWorkMod but when i reboot with him (checked wipe data cache, dalvik cache & selected new rom for install) my cell boot on the classic recovery mod or freeze on the motorola boot logo.
I am lost, thank's in advance for your help
Sorry for my bad english :/
it looks like you are entering normal motorola recovery, if you say you've installed CWM ( ClockWorldMod Recovery) then you need to wait until a green light turns on at boot ( after the blue one) and quickly press <VOLUME UP>, and then you will be at CWM recovery.

then how did you installed cwm? if you dont have the lights at boot, then you havent installed 2ndinit.
you should instald 2ndinit via apk defy.wdscript.fr/jordan-nightly/SndInitDefy/SndInitDefy_2.0.apk (i can't post links sorry)
then open the app (while usb debuggin on) and hit install 2ndinit buttom, witch will also install the recovery
that is the oficial metod with the defy, once you do that you'll get the blue and green lights at boot. (durring the Motorola logo)
presing <volume up> while the blue light is on enters bootmenu, and presing <volume up > while the green light is on enters CWM recovery

Also, did you manage to wipe cache and wipe dalvik after you flashed the CM10 zip? If not, you should do it just to make sure. I often get stuck on moto logo when I flash roms and wiping cache/dalvik plus taking the battery out makes it better.
Hello everyone,
So, I had a very rootable, very functional Defy+ till yesterday when I decided that instead of the latest CM72 nightly from Quarx:
http://quarx2k.ru/cm7-nightly-defy+/cm-72-20120923-NIGHTLY-Defy+.zip
..I should install CM10 ..from the same provider:
http://quarx2k.ru/cm10-2ndboot-nightly-defy(+)/CM10-20130318-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip
I thought that the bootloader, currently 2nd init, will get overwritten by 2nd boot. Well. it didn't. Unfortunately, I wasn't very happy about the performance of CM10 on my defy+ and then tried to downgrade again to CM72 by installing the zip file from above. After installing, the bootloader had both 2nd init and 2nd boot options available. If 2nd boot was selected, the phone stayed at the red logo and nothing after. If 2nd init was selected, I got a bootloop with CM7 animation. Ok this was a failure.
After that, considering I still had access to bootmenu and recovery, I installed this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582187
Booted ok, only if selected "normal" boot, the rest of boot options failed. Somehow, after a reboot, the phone was acting like a fresh install, meaning that in my last session, nothing was saved.
Next step was to flash a full SBF. I thought that bootloader would have to be cleared, I've read that a SBF is actually repartitioning the internal memory. Ok, and I tried with:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt..._USAJRDNGIBRRTCEE_P022_A022_Service1FF.sbf.gz
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...JRDNGIBRRTGB_P023_A025_M002_Service1FF.sbf.gz
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...DNGIBRRTDACH_P019_A022_M002_Service1FF.sbf.gz
With all of them, I get the phone in download mode, everything seems to install ok, but RSD Lite gets stuck at "rebooting phone", phone reboots, gets stuck on red M logo animation, RSD Lite then shows "please manually reboot phone" (or something like that), I remove battery, enter download mode again, and then RSD Lite shows PASS.
Still, after reboot, it's stuck at red M logo animation. What can I do?
Also, now I have no battery, and I have to externally recharge mine...
If you need any other details, please ask.
It's working now. After flashing a SBF, I entered Recovery Mode (Power and Vol Down), entered the Recovery Menu (Vol Up + Vol Down) and wiped everything. SuperOneClick doesn't work. How can I root this?

Hi, - I'm a noob in this.
I'm working on my Motorola Defy and my Ubuntu 13.04 machine.
I:
1) Rooted my device using these guides: "wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_jordan"
and
.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/coolwinding/entry/how_to_root_defy_on_linux1?
2) I got the CyanogenMod installed and it worked. I needed to install Gapps so I followed this guide
linux.com/learn/tutorials/698725-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-on-an-android-phone
3) When I tried rebooting my phone to install Gapps I couldn't boot into the recovery utility. I only had the possibilities: "reboot system now", "apply sdcard:update.zip", "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition".
I tried them all (I was really stuck!) but after the wipe data/factory reset I can't even boot in the Rom, so now I'm totally stuck with these four options as all there is!
In the bottom I get:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/caller
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
- I see these are common but it is always resolved by booting the phone in the rom and I'm not able to do that.
I read that the Defy is not easily bricked, but what is there to do now? adb can't find the device from the SDcard only.
What2do?

*In my opinion you should start again from clean SBF if you don´t know how to flash it in LINUX Guide is HERE(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076138). Just make sure you are flashing the right SBF for your Phone.
*THEN root it as it is said here (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/...ding/entry/how_to_root_defy_on_linux1?lang=en) *Alow USB debugging and unknown aplications and install 2ndinit apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212)
*THEN reboot and watch your phone, wait for the blue LED turns on and pres volume down.
*Select custom recovery and flash for example CM7 from HERE (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=jordan) and GAPPS (http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) and reboot
*Now you have CM7 and working phone
** You can try CM10 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702), CM10.1(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013059) by Quarx ...... FOR CM10.1 you need MINI GAPPS (http://d-h.st/users/tejus.k.v)

It worked! Thank you very much. I'm SO tired now.
In order to install zips you have to reboot to clockworkmod recovery by pressing vol down when the defy boots up showing the blue led instead of entering the stock one

Can someone help me? What am I doing wrong?

Because you still have the stock android recovery installed.
And that's more than likely because you probably restarted your tab, under a stock ICS rom, and didn't delete the boot.recovery.p and/or install-recovery.sh files in the System directory. In this case, every time you boot into the OS, it overwrites your current custom recovery, and installs the stock recovery.
Delete those 2 files, then flash your custom recovery.
MD
This is the 2nd time I've bricked my defy. The first time I flashed a full sbf, which I don't remember which now and the phone was fixed.
But this time I can't fix it by flashing sbf. The phone came with Orange France Froyo. If I remember right, the first time I fixed it by flashing the stock sbf, however I'm not sure.
So when my phone couldn't boot at all I flashed it again "Orange France" for defy:
"JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_164-005_OR_SIGN_SIGNED_USAJRDNEMARAB1B8ORAFR03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYOORAFR_P023_A010_M004_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz"
But when RSD Lite tells me to "manually reboot the phone", I unplug it and Power button+volumn down, after the red M appears, it shows an android bot with an exclamation mark in a triangle.
So I think maybe last time I have flashed a gingerbread sbf. I then downloaded a full sbf for defy+:
"DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-125_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USADEFYEMARAB1B8RTGB005.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTGB_P022_A022_M002_HWp3_WIG148094_Service1FF"
It's still the same result: "an android bot with an exclamation mark in a triangle"
I need serious help, thanks. There is still hope right, as my phone still can show stuff....:crying:

Thank you. This is embarrassing! The minute I clicked submit this post I pressed some buttons in desperation on my phone then I saw the lovely "blue letters", the recovery menu !! I then cleaned all data and cache and my phone can boot again ! I am going to root it and flash roms !!
Thank you anyway !
p.s. At this moment I found with the full sbf I flashed the camera doesn't work. Hoepfully when I get it rooted and flash CM10.1 everything works normally again.

Power + volume down is required to go to stock recovery:laugh:.Press only power button. To access stock recovery from the exclamation mark + triangle press volume up + volume down.
But i'm still wondering as to why you flashed Defy+ SBF. Now you can't downgrade and the camera won't work. You have to use 2ndboot ROMS like CM9 (EPSYLON), CM10.x and MS2Ginger.

I did that only as I thought my sbf flashed failed because my previous sbf flash was to a higher version. In fact I could have press some button to see the recovery menu.
Thank you for the info! I didn't know the "camera doesn't work" scenario till you tell me! Nvm, I normally use CM10.
When I have rooted my phone successfully, I find I can't use stock recovery to flash a CM10, which now I see makes sense...
But how do I install CWM recovery plz? I download it on sdcard and then ...? There's only one option "apply update from sdcard", do I flash the downloaed CWM recovery with that option?
I just tried install TWRP by using stock recovery "update from sdcard", it shows the same error as I flash a CM 10 ROM:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
You can´t flash CMx through stock recovery, you need 2nd init app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=589645&d=1304799260) after installing this and folowing steps in app reboot and wait for blue led turns on and press volume down and go into custom recovery, WIPE, and install your CMx adn reboot =)
