There was a discussion about that a few weeks ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/help/tablet-to-buy-t2940085
I don't know which version you're talking about, but £100 is not too far from the original price. For mine (16gb wifi) it was 200€ (£160), and I buyed it second hand (but as good as new) for 160€ (£120) two years ago. So I would buy something newer these days, with less display bezel, second camera, more ram and a faster cpu.
The version is the 32gb wifi
The combo tegra 3/1GB RAM is a little weak nowaday. It have issues with some apps (chrome and evernote for exemples). Also, Lollipop make it awfully laggy, so don't expect good upgrades above kitkat.
But the Youtube app et Firefox works well, and even some 3D games.
Conclusion : No, I don't recommend it for 100£.
(PS : sorry for bad english)

Whats the best price anyone has found the 101 at? I found it for $298 at some Mac mail order company but they were out of stock. I wanted to get my woman on for Valentines Day but I really didnt want to pay over $300 for it.
I got mine for $298 with free shipping and a $25 gift card from J&R bringing it to $273...but that was during the holidays and I had to wait like 8 weeks to get it.
Yea, J&R is out of them again.
After searching for a place that just had them in stock for weeks, I finally was able to order one direct from archos yesterday. I am receiving the 8gb model today . It was 299.00 plus 30.00 for overnight shipping.
In December Amazon had them for $299.. free shipping.. I wouldn't pay more than $350.
I got mine off Amazon last week for $349.99 for 16GB with overnight shipping for $3.99 (shipping cheap due to my Prime membership). The next day they was up to $415.99.
So do I win a prize for getting mine for only $273? Seems I got the best price of the people that frequent this forum.
I think the Archos website store is now the best deal.. 101 16G for $349
https://store.archos.com/archos-internet-tablet-p-5005.html
It seems the demand is so high for these that they can't make them fast enough.
I have done a lot of research on Android tablets and the Archos 101 definitely gives you the most bang for the buck! There are a lot of cheaper tablets out there, but they don't have capacitive touch displays and/or cut corners on other specs. Even with the newer tablets coming out that have Honeycomb and dual core aren't as good of a deal.. $700 for a tab is way too much.. worth buying an Archos 101 now and waiting a couple of years for the newer dual core tabs to come down in price.

Yeah, but then there will be something new like Android Pudding version and quad core processors tablets which will make a dual core running Honeycomb seem stupid and slow.
If you want cutting edge you are going to have to pay the price (which will be $700-900) or you have to come to the stark realization that the cutting edge isn't that much sharper than the other edges. In which case the Archos 70 and 101's are the biggest bang for the buck in in the near future.
I got it from 270€ at Madrid, Spain, from an Archos wholesale.

I don't think that Android will ever need more than two cores.. Tablets are fairly new.. Netbooks have been around for a few years and the hardware hasn't changed.

And Bill Gates said that no computer will every need more than 640k RAM! But I keed, I keed....
Honestly, I gave up trying to predict where technology will go because I am always wrong. Back in the day I said the internet will fail because who on earth would pay money to do what you can already do for free with BBS systems? I thought the iPad would fail for the same reason many did...it was just a big iTouch, what's the point? I thought Netflix wouldn't last because isn't it easier and more satisfying to just get your video when you want it, the day you want it, etc instead of having to "plan out" your entertainment and hope you feel like that kind of movie the day it arrives?
So yeah...it's easier to say you don't see it going past dual core, but seriously...who would have ever thought a phone would need dual core as well...yet they are coming.
Never underestimate the power of people who want to be parted from their money just to have something better than their neighbors and friends.
Hi guys
I thinking about getting this tablet used. I think i can get it at a fair price. 2000 DKK ~ 400$
Is it still good compared to the competetion?
The last tablet i owned was the Folio 100 which had a horrible OS and even more horrific viewing angles.
So would you guys still consider it a good buy? I have enough experience to root and install a custom OS if you find that to be necessary.

Is the price you quoted for wifi only or a 3G/gsm version?
The US wifi only models can be picked up for about $400 new with a great sale and coupon.
But imho the Xoom is a terrific tablet...I think that considering everything it is the best now available. I guess the viewing angles are better with some other tabs, but it has never been an issue for me.
It's for the WiFi only, but in Denmark retail priceses are much higher than US or other prices. Our VAT i suprisingly high. A brand new WiFi only tablet would cost me around 900$.
Well i'm glad to hear that. With the Folio if i tipped it 5 degress i wouldnt be able to read anything off the screen ^.^

No, Xoom is nowhere as bad as that! So that is a very good price. Grab it...then root it and update to HC3.2 using the wonderful Tiamat Rom, and get language support if needed. This tablet really comes alive with rooting/customization. And it's a complex computer but still very tough, inside and out. I love it.
See if you can get em to knock $50 off. We can get a new one for about 400 USD.

That's a great price considering your location. This tablet is totally worth it still. Best on the market for what I need. If I could get any other it would probably be the TF or the galaxy tab but I don't think that I could live without the SD card slot.

Hello everybody,
Recently i have been looking at a load of tablets as I am interested in buying one soon. Now I al interested in the iPad 2, the Sony tablet s and the Asus transformer + WiFi.
I want to have a tablet to watch movies, play games, read books and make notes. And I just like the look and specs of this tablet as far as I could have seen and read.
I would like to know from you guys if there are things you dislike about the device or totally love. I have used the Sony tablet s and the ipad 2 but can't get my hands on this device. So Any feedback from you guys is welcome.
Regards

I love it. But only thing that i dislike is the Frame around the glass. It makes some sound if you "bend" it and stuff.. But nothing else to complain and the Prize $ is just great..
Also one problem is light bleed that i only have in 1 corner and its small and i really cant see it but in dark and when im watching movie but i doesnt bother me anymore at all : P
And eaven tf101 only has 2 cores its amazing fast afted ICS : P
-This is just My opinion.....
I bought myself a Transformer Prime for Christmas. Returned it after the GPS and wifi problems, bought a Lenovo K1 at a deal. It was slow and buggy and Lenovo's arrogance was overwhelming, with support totally lacking, so I returned it. I bought a barely used mint Transformer TF101 32GB with keyboard, locally for $325. It has no light bleed or any other problems and I love it!
The Prime was my biggest disappointment. But the original Transformer has restored my faith in Asus!
Wow.. my story is pretty much exactly the same as thomslik's.. except I payed $350.. grrr..
Anyway, I'm loving my TF101 and, for me, the ICS update has been problem free.
I would NOT recommend getting the iPad 2, it's much more limited than Android tablets.. especially with the keyboard dock on the Transformer.
The transformer is great not a problem out of it. I was gonna get the ipad 3rd generation but I don't want a big ipod that's all it is.
I like it. Good screen and fast. I wouldn't pay more then 300 for it at this point tho.
Best device i have ever brought myself so far i have a tiny bit of light bleed but everything else is perfect.
Its fast and does all the things you want to use it for also very very customisable i use a custom launcher themes apps system and kernel all to my preference

It still sells just about everywhere for 399 brand new. Why do you feel the price isn't justified now? Any reason besides having been out for a while? I think for what it offers compared to other tabs it has held its value quite well.

Because it will become outdated pretty soon. It's almost at the end of the one year cycle.
If anyone, living in the USA, buys a TF101 for $399 at this point, they have some terrible shopping skills. Refurbs are at $300 or lower. Even brand new 16GB ones are around $350.
I got mine "Used - Like new" from Amazon for like $240 a couple months ago.

I bought mine on the 17th from Fry's as they price matched an online site that was selling it for $349 w/ free shipping. I will say this site (bhphotovideo.com) was the only site I could find that was that cheap and not a refurb. Every other one I found short of eBay, who I refuse to use, was right around $399.
And not to split hairs but to that point, $350>$300 which is what I was originally quoting. My point is old or not, if the product still currently sits well compared to what's out now, I think it's worth it.
I'm just trying to determine whether to hold onto mine at this point but that's for another discussion...

So you paid $350 + tax, which is around $380.
Not worth it in my opinion. You probably don't realize it now because you just got it and it feels new to you.

Yeah. My only other option it seemed right now was either a Galaxy Tab or iPad 2 and the latter option is really not a consideration, but it was within the price range.
I'm digging the unit but as you said, it's all new to me. I'd love to see something solid on the near horizon as it might convince me to return this and wait but so far it's all just rumors and speculation.
Acer's quad core tablet is on presale for $449.99
In 2-3 months you will see 7 inch quad cores for $250.
Android 5.0 coming out in Fall.
So it depends on how badly you want a tablet right now.
Thanks everybody, I just ordered the 101 version without 3g, it is 400 euro in holland. But for the same price you get the ipad 2 or the Sony tablet. So I think its worth the price.

the iPad 2 is really nice but with the transformer you can install roms like nintendo 64, ps2, etc and play for hours on end. the whole stretch thing is pretty retarded with the iPad 2 and after a while really annoying.
I love both but if I could only have one it'd definitely be the transformer.

I realize this question has been asked before, but since the phone has been out for a while since the last thread I found I figured people who've been using it for a long time might have some more insight.
Do you think 2gb is worth it compared to 4gb? I don't game on my phone, but I do multitasking rather heavily (social media, a couple chrome tabs, sms, music, etc. Open at a time).
To complicate it a little further, I had the 4GB variant of this phone before, but broke it :'( and I am looking for a replacement. Typical price for 2GB/4GB is still $229/$300 respectively, but lately some great deals have popped up for the 2GB version. A local store by my is selling 2GB version for $190 right now. I haven't found any decent deals on the 4GB version, but I figure with deals this month there will be some at lower price.
Tl;Dr: should I buy the 2GB version for $190, spend the $300 for 4GB, or wait for better deal on 4GB version?
Appreciate any opinions or insight, especially from people who have been using the 2GB Moto G5+
Just get the 4GB... Better resale value if anything, if you're going to keep it for years, then even more of a reason to not be cheap about it. Besides, I've been seeing it for $250 recently. I bought mine at BB 6 months ago for $240ish.

Hmm, alright I'll probably just keep an eye out for sales. I haven't seen any like that tho, everywhere right now seems to have 2gb cheap but 4gb still at 300. Thanks for the input.

I would agree with previous response, 4GB or skip it for someone other than the casual user, which you don't seem to be... You will get lots of app closures/re-opening while task swapping with 2GB ram, next to none with 4GB.
The 4GB version goes on sale from time to time at around $250, although at full retail I might look at something else.
Honestly, if price is such a factor... Look at the E4 Plus which regularly sells about $170, 5.5" screen, 2gb ram, 32gb storage, 5000mAh battery.
Don't know if this is legit or not, but...

I have the 2gb version. I love it. No issues with ram and such. I had the s7edge before this and it is almost the same if not better switching between apps/ battery life than that phone. Maybe just my rom/kernel. I would just get the cheaper one. Save your money, I'm done spending way too much on phones. I was looking at that E4 tho.....I want a 5000mah battery....

G5s is out and aside from camera it's basically identical, so $219 sounds very realistic. Unfortunately, it's why I'm probably switching to another brand. Motorola (lenovo) hasn't been good with real updates, and they keep saturating their own product lines every 6 months, which means it can only get worse...
The U11 can be bought for $400, as well as, Essential (although essential is iffy brand right now).
Thanks for all the replies guys. I ended up going with the 4GB version after finding it for $225 US. I had looked at the E4+, and would definitely have considered it if it came with a little more powerful processor option.
For anyone looking for a good deal on the 4GB model, Newegg is selling it for $225US and that comes with a free Bluetooth speaker and free shipping option! Speaker is probably not great, but I thought that was a great deal after not finding a much of anything under $300 for the past couple weeks.
Seeing how hostile are Netflix and Amazon prime to almost all Android tablets (no HD resolution), I decided to pick up one of old cheap Android tablets that are whitelisted in the Netflix FAQ. I figured, I could pick up a Shield tablet for less than a hundred bucks to be a gym companion, and this is the result of the first auction I tried to bid on. This is insane, who are these people?
Paying almost full MSRP for such an old device. lol
The Shield was a pretty unique device. An Android tablet designed for gaming, made by a respected manufacturer of gaming video cards. Still folks looking to buy it, as you can see. I might be still using it, if I hadn't cracked the screen (and replacements pretty much impossible to find).
Doesn't help that there are hardly any decent Android tablets coming out anymore. $650 for the Samsung Tab S4 (or $550 for the two year old S3) is just laughable.
But yeah, for the price in your screenshot; you're probably better off buying a Asus Zenpad.
What redpoint73 has said. When you consider the hardware, for under 200 it's still a very solid performing tablet and not really selling itself hard on frills. The downside is that Nvidia no longer produces them, so there's a finite amount of them and they are desired.
I've seen them going for around 200-250 on average.
Here something interesting samsung going to release new tablets
1. Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e with Snapdragon 670 4GB Ram 64GB, 6GB Ram 128GB price maybe $400
2. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 model with Samsung Exynos 7904 processor 2 or 3GB Ram 32GB Internal Storage and might cost $179-200
Both support Android 9.0

Try Let go or offer up. I just bought a Mint condition shield tablet, shield controller, plugs and mini HDMI to regular HDMI for 50 bucks!
Bought my son a k1 a few years ago for well over $200. Gotta be almost 3 years now & the k1 is still a great tab. Got a new battery on the way but after almost 3 years that's to be expected. Still handles games, media & anything extremely well. Doubles as a console which is way cool. An extremely durable tablet, my son is 7½. Not updated anymore, it landed on Android 7, which I consider to be one of the best versions, especially for older devices. Anything around $150 for this tablet in good working order, even in the age of Q I think is a good price. Definitely one of the best tablets every imo.
Sold my replacement unopened Shield tab for $350 on ebay earlier this month. Not sure why people are paying so much for a 5+ year old tablet but I cant complain!
